I always have a bad experience with this shop, even with an easy job. I needed new tires mounted for my trailer. I took the tires off of the trailer and brought them to the shop. They charged me one rate for the first tire, which was a reasonable, going rate for mounting. I brought the other three all at once, they charged me 2 times as much and charged me for disposal (I took the old tires for my farm). They left something inside on of the tires, so that will have to be dismounted at some point to fix it... I was not informed of a price increase at any time during the transaction. The owner charged my card before I even saw the bill. I was flabbergasted when I saw the total that he charged me. His response was "The price must have went up." Really? A 2X price increase on a simple mount job? Come on fella... After he botched returning the charged amount to my card, he offered a portion of the charge back. The resulting bill was 1.5 times per tire the rate of the first tire... He still charged me for disposal. I should have learned my lesson long ago with this shop. I am irritated enough to write this horrible review. Hopefully, I am smart enough to avoid this place entirely in the future. Bad business, bad service, bad people. read more

Clearly only their buddies are posting reviews. If I could give less than 1 star I would. DO NOT TRUST THIS PLACE. They are price gouging and lie about repairs. $300 for a diagnosis?! Then claim no charge for labor if the repair is done in 14 days?! Wth?! Agreed price was $200 for smoke test and diagnosis. Charged an extra $100 for removing and replacing old part, completely shady and taking advantage of a young woman who needed to fix her car, my daughter in law. NEVER trust this place. My mechanic referred to this as "rape" because it was so out of line and unethical. read more

John works hard to fit in anyone who needs immediate care and is super helpful. These guys just installed a new hitch on my brand new car.....and afterwards took the time to ensure I understood the hitch and provided some great tips to ensure it lasts a very long time. I went in for an inspection and everyone in front of me seemed to have something unexpected wrong with their car. I was already mad when they called my name and told me I had bad breaks. I just had them done!!!! I even had the receipt in my car still from the dealership. They quickly changed the story and told me that something was leaking by my breaks. I called the dealership where they were done and he said he has never fix that part in 20 years. Total Car and the dealership mechanic were arguing about it on my phone! I went to purchase a car from out of state in New York. I went to the dmv to get it registered and on my way to the New york DMV noticed my steering wheel was shacking heavily. I took it to total car care and could not of met a better group of honest men. I found out my tire rods were blown on both sides but currently did not have the funds since I was not planning on having to repair the car. Mike the owner held the car for me for a week until i could get it towed home. They stored it for me for the week free of charge and understood my position. I have moved out of the Rochester area, and now live in Miami, and this place is one of the things I miss the most about Rochester. Mike (the owner) and the guys there are the best. Honest and trustworthy. I have never felt that they were trying to oversell me services, and they always present the information and let me make the decision on what to do from there. They are thorough and always let you know if they find any mechanical issues whether these are just recommendations on things that could be addressed or things that must be addressed. I always have appreciated this so that it doesn't just break later, without warning, and then I am angry that I didn't know about it as a potential issue. This helps me plan what I need to have done and when. I haven't been able to find an equivalent Auto Repair shop here in Miami. I still call Mike for advice on my vehicle and he does take the time to answer my questions and try to help me troubleshoot over the phone so that I don't get ripped off here (an easy thing to do in Miami!). They go above and beyond for their customers at Total Car Care, and that's what keeps people going back. read more
