Valvoline replaced on the main battery and failed to strap it back down where it sits under the passenger seat. That's how Haynie's found it. So this cause out Durango to not start properly due to not having the auxiliary battery. I called Haynie's garage and a really nice guy answered and when I explained what I needed he went into all this detail what that auxiliary battery does. I had no clue. Found out I was talking the owner Chris. Super nice and absolutely knowledgeable. They close at 5:30pm and I got there at 4pm for the battery and to have my oil changed. No problem. I didn't ask for the oil change til I arrived and he said he had literally just used the last oil filter on a Jeep but would get one right over and was apologetic. That was absolutely fine with me and I didn't mind waiting. Chris also told me that he found my battery was not strapped down from Valvoline. This garage is off a dirt road since he moved to this newer location. His shop is sits off the road but it's still easy to find with a GPS. It's worth the trip. Haynie's Garage is absolutely awesome. I will only take my vehicles here from now on.

Pretty horrible experience at David's today. Been chasing…read morean issue with my vehicle starting for about a month now and finally had it down to the starter, which I can't replace myself (tools). Spoke to David's and they said they would replace the starter I had (O'Reilly's) but they wouldn't warranty the part. Expected and okay. Dropped the vehicle off about 9am. Given a quote for $231 for inspection, diagnostics and testing. Was told that it would be applied to any repairs. Was verbally quoted by Rich that the starter replacement may add a "couple of bucks" but would be close to the $231 and that the testing/diagnostic charge would apply. Was told it would be done by noon. At 12:30pm called to get a status, still in work. At 12:45pm I get an automated inspection report. At 1pm I call back to see if the starter had been replaced. Nope. Quote $760 for replacement using my part and $1050 to use theirs. Asked about the 300% increase from the initial price and after being put on hold for a while was told that the best they could do was $463. DOUBLE the original quote! Was also told that they "hoped" to get it done today. "Hope" is a little dubious after doubling/tripling a quote for no reason. They also made very clear that absolutely no warranty was included - including installation. When I asked if the starter fell off because they forgot to torque the bolts, "Nope, we wouldn't cover that. But we do things right around here." At 5pm I called to see if it was actually completed and it had been done but no one had decided to let me know. Overall, just a bunch of over promises, under delivery and dishonesty! Look elsewhere!

My main criticism is the reporting. For the price ($365), I expected more than a checklist and a raw diagnostic scan. An executive summary with the inspector's overall impression ("buy," "buy after repairs," etc.) and a brief explanation of the significant findings would have made the report much more useful. As it stands, I had to interpret most of the information myself and follow up with questions afterward. Communication could also be improved. There were a couple of times when I was told I would receive a phone call that never came. I understand schedules get busy, but I appreciate updates when expectations are set. Overall, I would use them again because I believe the inspection itself was solid, but I hope they continue improving the quality of the final report and communication.

Lawrence was so nice and helpful, let me know a time frame, and explained where the restrooms and snacks were located. He also let me know there was a recall that they would also take care of while they had my car back there. After about 3 hours Lawrence called me up and informed me that they were not able to get the sunroof closed and the cost of getting it fixed is almost $11,000. Having just moved 1000 miles from home, looking for a job, and have now loss my reliable transportation I broke down right at his desk. Lawrence proceeded to go talk to other managers to see how he could help me. He mentioned that they could take the headliner down and MAYBE be able to get it closed that way. I had to take the risk. About 4 hours later he comes out to the lobby with a technician named Tristan. Poor Tristan had been fighting with my sunroof all day, but was determined to help me and continued to try everything he could possibly think of. Eventually all his hard work payed off and he was able to get closed and even washed my car for me. These two men may have just been doing their job to other people, but they really did change my life. They offered support, determination, and the willingness to go above and beyond for a customer. Having just moved to Texas this was my first experience with this location and I now will continue to have my car serviced here. P.S.
