Had DirecTV for about 6 months now. The installer claimed that during thunderstorms we could switch from HD to SD and still have signal. That was not true. Anytime we have thunderstorms or heavy showers the signal goes out. HD and SD.
Last week we had a close lightning strike. Aug 27. DirecTV DVR went out, no picutre. TV was fine because it works on PS4 and Blueray.
We called customer service. Person kept us on the phone 45 minutes saying try this, now try that, now push this button etc. She could not get it thru her head that we had a lighnting strike event and DVR was damaged. Finally she agreed to schedule a technician to come. But it was a week out, scheduled for Labor Day Sunday.
The guy came out and of course he had no replacement DVR, just cables. He was useless and unprofessional. Telling jokes while he stood in our living room doing nothing. THen he got on his phone to call someone to try to order a DVR for us. He was unsuccessfull and then started complaining about his own employer - who was representing. My wife finally told him to get out of our house and go figure out a solution in his van, instead of bitching in our living room about his employer.
I called tech support the next day via chat, and was promised that a DVR would be drop shipped to us FedEX in 3 days. Another lie. Now I am on phone again, customer service claims one is being sent but that cant say what warehouse it is coming from or give a tracking number.
Worst service ever. We are planning on cancelling DirecTV and going with internet only media, HULU or something. read more
