I am having a disgusting experience with DirecTV. Since August of 2018 my boxes have not been able to connect to via Wi-Fi and remain online. Almost everyday I have to reboot my system. Which means I have to wait for channels to come back I can't watch my on demand when I come home from work. I called and asked if it can be fixed. The technician came out and told me the only way they could fix it is to wire my boxes direct to my router. I don't have any open ports on my router so he will have to provide another router for this. First of all it's not my problem the software is messed up on the DirecTV boxes. Second of all they want to charge me $99 for him to come out and fix the problem when it's not my problem. I do not recommend DirecTV. I tried to cancel them and they told me that I have to pay a cancellation fee because the technician cannot fix the problem. That doesn't seem right in my book. I wish there was someone I can call, some kind of corporate office that could resolve my problem. read more

Don't watch TV anymore! We lived in Stockton, CA when we had our first subscription with DirectTV under my name. My family moved to Lathrop, CA after 2-yrs. While I was out of the country last 2008, I contacted DirectTV to transfer the subscription to the new address. I thought everything went well, but later realized that I was paying 2 subscriptions a month for different addresses for more than 6 months. Merely my fault or the company's fault for overlooking my name? Added another subscription instead of just transferring the service. We only wanted to watch International channels, but obliged to sign-up for the basic cable at that time. Policies, policies! Recently laid-off, had to cancel unnecessary expenses and cable TV was one of them. The company required a $200 cancellation fee. I ended up paying $376.28. I did not know that even browsing an On-Demand channel and accidentally press play and changed the channel right away was a crime. Apparently, one of my younger brothers did not know what he was doing checking on restricted channels. I canceled my subscription alright, but the card from the box was retrieved and all the "On-Demand Not Watched" movies were charged. I know they were not viewed since the duration were only 1 minute or so. That should be a sign for them. I voluntarily unplug the telephone line from the box when we had it. It was a failure. I shouldn't have returned that card. Check on what your kids are watching and changed the settings for parental controls in the cable box. Verify your subscriptions too before changing or transferring them. Try not to be tied-up in yearly subscription. Last time I checked, DirectTV requires 2-yr subscription. Never allow DIRECTV to have your credit card info. They will charge you beyond your cancellation date. They may say they will charge a few months because their system takes too long to cancel. They may promise you a cash refund. They lie they don't refund. When you cancel they may lower your rate and claim you agreed to a long contract. The supervisors lie they all lie at direct tv. Worst service ever!!!!! Technicians leave without completing work and they don't return phone calls. Had to reschedule 3 times because technicians kept showing up at times they weren't scheduled for. I called Direct TV directly, they promised to call back in 20 min to have technician to finish work, no call back call and work still not completed. I've been waiting for a week to have service. Anyway we have had Direct TV now for a little over a year and have never been happier with the service. No problems to speak of that can't be handled easily. Beware of the contracts you enter! When I asked DirecTV to upgrade my service with two more receivers they advised me that the only way they could do this was by signing a "new two year" agreement. I liked the service, but thought just adding two receivers should not have required such a time commitment. And, we had to pay $49 for a service tech to come out and install the new satellite dish and receivers. I also asked at the time about "bundling" my ATT internet service with my DirecTV to effect a lower cost and was told it "was not available" and it couldn't be done. This morning, I called ATT, and guess what? IT CAN BE DONE!!! And I was given a monthly cost for both the internet service and the DirecTV that was very close to what I was paying for the DIrecTV alone, through DirecTV billing. In fact, as you can see from the "on-line chat" with ATT, they were willing to give me far more than DirecTV. I am an employee at a Men's clothing store with over 1100 retail outlets throughout the United States, We have Direct TV as our television service. The Direct TV service went out on Tuesday December 30, 2015. We contacted corporate that day. No response. We contacted corporate on December 31, 2015. Direct TV responded and said the earliest they could replace what was defective would be January 11,2016. Seriously, that's the best they can do? Are their techs on strike, and they have to call in independent contractors? Even Xfinity has a better response time. And our company has over 1100 subscribers. I dont often come on these sites and complain as everyone has a different opinion, but I have never before experienced such HORRIBLE customer service as I have with Direct TV. I signed up for Direct Tv in November and its been one issue after another starting with my installation, technical issues with my DVR box, and now billing issues. I have spent an unbelievable amount of time on the phone being sent in circles between departments as no one wants to claim responsibility or resolve the issue. I have had them for a year and a half and I have had their box burn up, I loose signal several times a week, as well as loosing one of the main channels right in the middle of the show that is live. Alfredo (tech)came to my house to set up direct tv, couldn't find my home & left rude msg.s, arrived late. I was in front yard when he told me he was going on my roof to install satellite dish. After a while I noticed he was not on my roof. Alfredo had gone in the back of the house uninvited. I found him in my bedroom with the door closed. That was scary! I will never allow att in my home again nor be alone when anyone comes by. I turned on my tv & it wasn't working. I asked him many times to set it up as he sat on my couch obviously sick, coughing, not covering his mouth. WTH. I moved my entertainment center to figure it out myself & he began to yell at me. I showed him the front door & picked up every wrapper he had opened & tossed on my floors throughout my home & yard. If that wasn't enough I tried reporting him but the call center agents refused to put a stupidvisor on the line. The 1st representative kept me on the line over 15 minutes asking the same question REPEATEDLY. I would answer the same question, " yes, now can you pls put a supervisor on the line"? I hung up when he asked the same question again ( do I want the sports package removed) How many times does a person have to say yes begging to have a sports package removed when att was told I never wanted it. I called back , the new call center agent muted the phone for a few minutes then asked if I was still there. (Are you kidding me) Yes I am, may I PLEASE have a supervisor. Then Jay the supposed supervisor came on the line. I told him about Alfreako & that he was still texting me. Also talked about me NOT wanting the regional sports package & why do I have to call every month, ask for it to be removed & account credited & then its on next bill NEVER CREDITED. I told them day 1 that I am a Oakland Raiders fan and there are no Oakland Raiders so I don't want the sports package. Today I spoke with another person claiming to be a manager. Nothing was noted from months of calls, except that Alfredo was trying to steal att customers & continues to text me. Extremely upsetting that this so called manager couldn't tell me if Alfreako still works for att & could be harrassing others in their homes & by phone. To top it all off my conversation ended when I was abruptly disconnected. If you have att check your statements. I did while holding & noticed mine had a $4.25 "account charge" on all. When I looked into it I realized they've been charging late fees. I told the so called manager that I checked my bank account and I paid at least a week early. Managers reply: Crickets.. . No reply! I was a Directv customer for over 10 years. In the beginning, service was good. Then I was unable to see most sports and the final thing that convinced me to discontinue my service was on New Years Day 2017, NBC became unavailable to Directv customers. I cancelled my service and switched to Comcast. I paid my final bill but received several notices stating that I still had an outstanding balance and sent another payment. Low and behold, I then received notice that I had an over payment and instead of a simple refund, I was issued a debit card. Then I received another notice stating that I owed Directv $49.94 for a service I never used for a porn channel. This charge was disputed by me to no avail. I was then told the charge would be deducted from the money they owed me for my overpayment($121.63)and that I would be issued a new debit card. Card never arrived and I just chalked it up to my loss and was glad to not have to deal with this horrible company anymore. Then 2 weeks ago, I received a notice from a collection agency stating that I owed Directv $49.94. WTF? I called Directv and was treated like a criminal by the stupidest and rudest person I have ever had the misfortune to have to speak to. I would advise ANYONE contemplating to acquire service from Directv to look elsewhere. I am paying far less with Comcast and receive a multitude of channels for far less money. Also, Directv leaves their hideous dish on your property and refuses to remove it. I expressed to the representative exactly what I was interested in and what I was not. After calling and speaking with a manager for the lack of communication on their part I have to pay $288.66 to rectify their error. If I could do negative stars, I would. It started this way with screw up #1: no technician arrived at the scheduled time. When I called to inquire, I was told that he couldn't get through the gate (despite my having given him the code on my order) and rather than call the cell number I gave them when I set up my service order, he tried calling me on a number that I had never given them (they apparently got it either from the credit report I did not authorize or from my former service provider).Screw up #2: When I made my original order, I was very clear that I want a only a one year contract (as I have only a temporary transfer to that location). They agreed but apparently there is no such thing as a less than two year contract- and if I cancelled after a year there was a $240 penalty-per the supervisor I spoke with when I called to find out what happened to the technician. Screw up #3: I called to talk to the supervisor again and a phone technician told me they had no weekend supervisors. I argued that I had just spoken to one and she suggested that sometimes the phone people just have someone "act" like a supervisor. She also said that per her records I do have only a one year contract, despite the fact that I have from them in writing that it is a two year contract. But she couldn't send me anything to prove it. Really bad device units. With today's technology you would think they would have better equipment. When watching recorded programs they are always cutting out and pausing. Also, they have not recorded programs I setup to record. Then they want to charge you a fee to have a technician come out because there device doesn't work properly. Hmmmmm let's think about that one there folks ... when the majority of all satellites have been and are installed on the roof so that they can get the reception they need to work ... so why in God's name would would not let them put new ones on the roof! Ok and yes in some cases you can stick them on the side of the house. However, you have to be able to do so and you gotta deal with the eye sore ... wtf??? In my case I can't do either. And yea yea yea I know that there are risks to worry about for the techs, safety concerns and all, I'm not completely inept or stupid ... but don't all jobs have risks ... are there not trainings and certification processes that could be, should be implemented? You don't want your techs fall off roofs ... sure I get that, how bout you provide safe lines, rigs, 2 techs, a hot air balloon, mission impossible crap! Damn boo, I don't know but something! Four different calls as to why and not one consistent answer!! So I told them well then you've changed my contract therefore I want to cancel. Seriously the worst customer service ever. The cable is good but too bad the employees treat the customers like shit. I've been with them for over 3 years and started out with the direct tv and att internet for $90 a month. Less than a year into the service we move to the country where att doesn't offer internet. The guy was really awesome who I talked to and gave me my $50 cable for a year since it wasn't my fault that I couldn't get the internet. A year goes by and it's August and no one told me the year price guarantee was ending so I'm charged $97 without notice causing me to overdraft at my bank. No one would work with me so I was changing over to dish because they actually worked with me when I called, so I set up a installation with dish to come out. When I call to cancel my current service the guy was awesome (apparently he worked at att so I guess that's why) and wanted me to stay with them so he offered me a $50 credit for the next months service and and the a $50 off price lock guarantee for a year so my bill would only be $47 which was amazing! October comes around and I'm expecting a $47 bill but it's $97! Of course I have auto pay so I'm screwed. I'm told the $50 price lock was put on but it was canceled. I'm told I can get $50 I was overcharged when I talk to a manager and that said manager will call within 48 hours. The parent company of att gave me that but when it got to direct tv they cancelled it and said they'll only give me $30 off the bill which is better than nothing but I'm screwed out of the $50. So here I'm out of $100 because they screwed me twice and I've been lied to so many different times. Of course the $30 price lock made my contract extend a whole extra year so I can't even leave this f*cked up company without being charged a crazy amount. I am still on the phone with them. This is my 2nd call. The first call, I could hear all the other representative except for the rep who picked up my call. He/She did not even respond. I stated, "I hope this call is being monitored, and if you need more time, just say so, instead of ignoring my call" I could hear them and was sure he/she could hear me. Being retired and trying to save money on a fixed income I made one of the biggest mistakes of my 68 years. DirectTV is the biggest ripoff I have ever seen in my life, and I lived in Las Vegas for 16 years, and I thought it wopuld never happen to me! Well they make it sound very good when you're signing up but they leave all the small print out of the conversation like if you want to see normal TV, it's an upgrade, or if you want the Free DVR for recording TV programs it's an upgrade, or how about if they forget to tell you about the DVR and you want to add it later it will cost you over 250.00 to have them install it. And the fact that Costco lets them do business in their stores, you would think that after all these complaints Costco would get wise. If you read this and you don't check them out first, SHAME ON YOU, because you have to sign a two year contract that will be one of the hardest contracts, even with all the bad complants, you have ever tried to break. Another tip don't let them autopay from your debit card, because even when you're done with them they will still try to charge cost's that you have never ordered, make them send you a bill, but hopefully youhave taken my advice and not signed up. read more

The fact that I had to give 1 star at a minimum is a true gift. In reality they are a minus 100 ... On June 8th I switched from AT&T Uverse to Directv. Now since they are both under the same umbrella, one would think that getting issues addressed would be easy. Since the switch, I have been unable to get my OnDemand feature to work ... I have spoken to 23, count them, 23 different people, including the likes of Patricia (#JZ298P), Jackie (#JD526M), Rita (RV213G), Michael (LP370X), Norman (#NF628K), and Jackie (#JD526M). In addition, they have sent out 5, count them, 5 service technicians, including Jeffrey (#JL372H) ... and STILL the problem has not been fixed ... after a million lines of "I am sorry" and "guarantees" the issue would be addressed. Norman, who has been the most helpful out of the lot, tried transferring me TWICE to speak to a manager, only to get hung up on ... So Norman, if you are reading this, know that your bosses have the spine of a Liberace handshake .... If you are EVER thinking about obtaining either AT&T Uverse or Directv, you will experience more pain in your dealings with their customer service representatives then sitting on a hand grenade ... There customer service is the THE worst ... and you got a better chance in speaking directly with the Pope in comparison to conversing with a "manager" or "supervisor".... bottom line ... y'all just suck ... read more

I have been a Dish customer for years and finally decided to switch to Direct TV because of better pricing. What a mistake! I had the system installed three days ago and have had nothing but problems. When I reached out to the company today I spent 45 minutes on the phone pulling out every cord, re-inserting it, rebooting the system, and waiting for the woman who I could barely understand to tell me that she understood how I felt and that she feels that way too. Finally I ask for a tech to come out and she said of course, on Monday! So we go back and forth and finally she tells me (after I told her to have someone come uninstall the system and bring my refund) that someone would be out tonight at 6 p.m., well it is now after 7 and I am on the line with Direct TV and getting the run around again. This started Friday evening when our TV froze. I called C/S # and they walked me thru several different ways to try and get up and running again. That never happened and they said we need to send a Tech to come to the house. Perfect, that will work until they said the next available is Dec. 15th. At that point I reminded them we have been with them over 15 years and we were to have no working TV's in our house for over 10 days. Not acceptable. I had spoke to 3 different people and was told the same thing. One young girl even told me it's like a Dr. appt. that this is the first available appt. I asked to talk to a supervisor and was told they had no control over the service tech's. They could only see the appt. books and go off that. Funny thing is when you call to cancel your service they seem to be able to get in contact with the local service techs. They don't care who you are or how long you have been with them. I called Dish and they will be there tomorrow. Not sure how this will work but after all the run around with DirecTv customer service I don't care. So I go to www.directv.com and find the usual login however it has been years since we (my lovely wife usually handles these dealings) signed up for the service (works nicely) and so I have no clue as to which email/phone/zip code combo we used. I am not fluent in computer-speak so listening and trying to understand me saying "I want to watch TV on my PC and can I play through my PC onto a TV(?) should not have thrown him (big time). I got to talk with Lara, nice and helpful as well. She was able to put it right in minutes and with access now established I am on my way to watching TV on my PC. Weird thing I go to www.directv.com click on watch TV and locate Blacklist (the Pilot). As I watch happily a message pops up stating Ads cannot run and that is how HULU provides free TV. Remember the part about I am at www.directv.com...WTF is going on? Whatever it is (some kind of mutual deal possibly?) I am confused but press on. I need to change some setting to accept these ads. The instructions do not match anything close to what are on my Settings and I am unable to fix that issue so TV is on and Ad 1 of 3 pops up and a countdown begins that will result in the program continuing but where this ad would be there are a few minutes of SILENCE. No doubt knowing how uncomfortable silence can be. Worked on me! I am thinking upgrade NOW then it hits me, I am going to pay HULU for Direct TV services that I already pay plenty for. bad company!!! I had automatic payment and needed my payment pushed back a couple of days until I got paid, so I contacted customer service they said no problem they would get that taken care of with no problem payment won't be take payment out until the Saturday. What a big LIE!!! they didn't do anything now I have an overdraft fee from the bank I called and talk to two people about this and what are they going to do to remedy this problem that they caused and their solution oh we can refund your money but that will take 7 days to do so and than retake the money later. Terrible!! Worst service ever!! Literally they merged with At&t and took my card info promised me things that never came!! Then said they didn't know but continues to charge me month after month!! Was on phone for over 2 hours!! They also lie say the record every phone call to help customers the manager told me that was not true. After my contracts up I will never ever let anyone I know be a victim to these scam artist!! So upset!!! Feel so taken advantage!! Run away get Comcast!!! read more
