I obtained Direct TV satellite service through AT&T on March 14, 2018 and cancelled the satellite service on March 29, 2018 due to extremely poor service/and quality of installed equipment. Initially, I was promised voice remote service, yet the technician informed me that Direct TV does not currently offer voice remote service. Then we experienced extremely long wait times when contacting customer service for technical support. We found ourselves constantly running up and down the stairs to reset the system in attempt to correct technical issues that kept resurfacing and downloading one TV episodes or a movie would routinely take over an hour. Then an unscheduled representative showed up at my home to check the outside connection, which I found out was not grounded correctly (when I called to verify the representative and complain that the visit was unscheduled). I received telephone calls to my personal cell phone from the installing technical before 5:30 am, and when I complained the representative attempted to make an excuse for the technician's inappropriate time of call. Considering the two weeks of highly unsatisfactory home satellite service and equipment, sub-par customer service rendered, and the poor communication exhibited I cancelled the satellite service. I immediately received a bill of over $900, so I contacted customer service to rectify the bill. The equipment was returned via UPS Store on April 2, 2018 and equipment charges were eventually deducted from my bill. I immediately received a Direct TV bill of over $900, so I contacted customer service to rectify the bill. On April 20, 2018, AT&T generated and issued a bill for $494.05, so I contacted the billing department again and spoke with Kim #10103230. After speaking with Kim, a bill was generated on April 30, 2018, billing period 4/7/2018 to 4/29/2018 stating the account is disconnected and the previous balance of $438.40 was changed to read New Charges: Other Charges, Adjustments & Taxes -438.40, Total New Charges -438.40, TOTAL AMOUNT DUE $0.00. On April 22, 2018, $122.06 was retrieved from my checking account as the total amount due on the first billing statement. Instantaneously, AT&T automated prerecorded calls began calling my home telephone in attempt to collect the aforementioned credited amount. On 26 May 2018, I spoke with JC #JC765G around 1:20 pm about the billing issue. JC informed me that my billing issue would be resolved within 3 to 4 business days, but refused to provide additional written confirmation of the resolution. On 2 June 2018, we received a letter from AT&T dated 26 May 2018, that our internet and telephone services will be temporarily disconnected if the overdue payment of $494.05 is not received by 1 June 2018. As promised AT&T suspended our services, inconveniencing my spouse that started his last two online classes to finish is college degree. Once again, I called AT&T (4 June 2018) at the telephone number on the letter 1-800-288-2020 and the representative was unable to assist me claiming the system was down. Noticing my disappointment, my spouse contacted AT&T at 10:15 am on 4 June 2018, waited on line for a representative enduring verification, explained the issue repeatedly, requested a supervisor due to the complexity of the issue and was again ending the call without actual proof of resolution. My husband was promised a supervisor (Angel) would call back within an hour, several hours later still no call back. I have verification that the charges were reversed and will gladly forward a copy of this document to whomever needed to resolve this matter. We also ended up calling Direct TV during the lunch hour, spoke with Ira #IM623A, whom informed me that AT&T had paid the bill, so I told him that AT &T did not pay the bill and is waiting for a system annotation that the charges were waived, he put me on hold. When Ira returned he informed me that the charge could be waived if I returned to Direct TV, which I declined. However, Ira though polite was not able to resolve my issue either, but he submitted a request to waive the early termination fee that takes 7 to 10 business days to review before resolution. I was disappointed that a Manager from Direct TV promised me the early termination fee would be waived, then they electronically transferred the debt to AT & T and sent a bill to me stating TOTAL AMOUNT DUE: $0.00. I had never experienced this level of service in 20+ years of cable TV (Infinity/Cox or Time Warner). PS. To avoid further issues (in protest) we paid the $494.05 charge to keep the internet service working and avoid a negative report to credit agencies. However, I am still actively challenging this issues and expect a full refund. read more

Why is AT&T U-Verse customer service so BAD? I returned 3 TV boxes 2 months ago via UPS store as instructed by AT&T, but they keep adding it to my bill. Then I am charged a late fee because I am not paying for these 3 TV boxes. When I call AT&T I only get someone from the Philippines who cannot resolve my issue. That is only after I have been on the phone 13 minutes with the voice prompt computer. I recommend you (AT&T) check out how T-Mobile does their customer service. T-Mobile has the best customer service department. I get to talk to a real person in the USA that can solve my problem on the 1st call. DirecTV is the most non customer service company that I have ever experienced in my life. I have been in customer service for over three decades and I have never been transferred so many times to a negative manner refuse to be giving credit back have a company not except responsibilities for the back for unused services! Most of their services are contractors and only get 35 bucks a call that the service is so bad! I have paid for service for 2 months and not received what I pay fir. I have to say the channel selection is awesome. What everyone should know is the on demand system has not worked for over a year. You can join a program and rewind it to the beginning as advertised. When I called in to ask why on demand and rewind service the rep lied to me and told me it was a problem they had only recently. They have actually gotten worse; months later, I switched from DirecTV to Uverse since AT&T has now merged. Trash + trash = SMELLIER TRASH I am experiencing the exact same issue; this time we have everything in writing. They don't care because they know that they have 0 accountability and if they try to rob 30 people and only 15 of them fight back, then they just made a huge profit off of 15 people. Multiple this by the thousands of customers they are ripping off, and they make a tremendous profit off of people's ignorance or laziness. I signed on for a deal, and had the sales rep write down on our contract exactly what our monthly bill is...the first month, we had to spend two hours on the phone to get them to honor the first month's bill that we had in writing. Finally they adjusted it and we paid; now in the 2nd month and the bill is 3x higher, $268 - does that seem like a normal price for cable and internet to you just for one month of service? Worst Customer Service and outsourced to Manila. Wanted me to pay for correcting their mistake! Signed up for their service at the COSTCO at Cumberland 40 days ago. They have a Box capable of UHD 4K resolution at no additional cost, but neither of the sales reps offered me the service or even asked about what kind of TV I had when I was signing-up. I found about the service over Thanksgiving, so I called them and spent an hour and 45 minutes trying to convince them that they should upgrade my box, All I heard from 5 different people, including a Supervisor was that I was that since 30 days had passed, getting the box that they should have installed would cost me $100. The Supervisor did offer to split the cost. Do not see why I should pay for something that should have never gone wrong in the first place. I did enjoy following the heavy accent, but the real morral of the story is -- do not locate or outsource customer facing functions to countries or cultures that do not understand business culture and service expectation of those that they serve. When I came to the US in 1975 I was extremely impressed with the customer service that "Ma Bell" (now AT&T the parent company of DirectTV). If you dialed a wrong number my mistake, you called them up, and they backed out the charges on the spot. I hope someone at DirectTV reads these comments -- Business and pricing models have changed, but no Company can gain market share without meeting customer expectations. So, in the next few days I will try and call the Atlanta Office, and also go into COSTCO and demand that they pay for DirectTV's mistake and throw them out of their stores. I will also personally bad-mouth them to all my friends. Funny how for a $100 box, they are prepared to loose a customer that pays them $100 a month, when both box models will be obsolete next year and worth nothing. Very frustrated and disappointed in Directv. Setup appointment today that was confirmed twice because it is on weekend. I cancelled my plans for the day and patiently awaited service people to arrive. During the wait I got two updates on voice mail stating we haven't forgotten about you be there by 4. At 420 I called and was told appointment was cancelled at 230 and was asked "didn't the technician call you because it's annotated that appointment need to be rescheduled." If they knew at 230 why didn't someone call the house to inform me"? I called back and told them to cancel the upgrade altogether because next slot would be on weekday and I'm not missing work when they can't guarantee they will show up. Things to do when you are stuck at home. Well I figured sitting at home with my fractured leg I would get rid of Comcast after bitching about it for a year. So I called Direct TV and placed my order very simple so I thought. THEY LIE. I was told I would get 2 HD DVR recorders and 2 regular boxes. I was also offered East coast and West coast programming which was a huge plus so you can watch CA channels when you get home late. Apparently you can only get them if the networks give you a waiver. Come to find out that they use 3rd party sales people who lie to you jusy to get yor order. When the guy came to install thats when it all fell apart he did not have the right equiptment and did not want to go on the roof etc.... I caled Direct TV and was on hold for 3 hrs speaking to different reps, managers, new sales blah blah blah. In the end I told the the manager I was going to cancel because they lied to me oh and they wanted to charge me$199 for one of the DVR's that was supposed to be free. She said if you dont want it we will cancel your order, So I honnled outside called the guy on the roof and told him I was canceling and he could leave. This is one of those times you wish that you could give zero stars. In my opinion, you should have to have done something right in order to get one star. DirecTv has pretty much not done anything correctly. From install until now, over a year later, we still can't get decent service. On install day about 14 months ago the technician actually left our house without the service working correctly and said that he had to bring some additional equipment back to get the service to work as described. Two days later he returns and leaves again with us having mediocre service in our basement bedrooms and our family room. The signal is constantly dropped any time the sky looks like there might be a storm. Shows don't get recorded. We have had to have our DVR swapped out twice. Do you know what a crazy pain in the ass that is ? You then lose everything you had recorded. We have called several times and every time they come out they can't figure what to do in order to make it work correctly. Last night I called again and said we are still having these problems. They told us that they don't know what else they can do to fix it therefore if they send a tech out they have to charge us for it. We have asked to be let out of our contract but they refuse. If I could less than one I would.. It has been 24 hours since we moved to ATT DiectTV from ATT Uverse. It rained tonight and our TV went out which was our biggest concern in changing to Direct TV. The sales person in the Suwanee ATT store assured us that Direct TV had solved these issues and we would not have an outage. When I called my ATT store I was told they could not help and I would need to call the 800 service number....ugh. Shortly after thanking me for being a loyal customer, they told me they would be charging me more for my package that has been "grandfathered in" starting this month until I threatened to go to another service. My family and I recently made the switch from cable to uverse. Overall, we were happy with our previous service, but we were unable to get a good wifi signal in our finished basement. We made it clear that this was our main concern with our service, and we were assured that it would not be an issue with uverse. Things became rocky on installation day. When our cable provider installed our old equipment, they told us things could go wherever we wanted, and they were very accommodating. Uverse was not. We were told we would have to rearrange our bedroom furniture in order to have our TV on our dresser. While I wasn't very happy about this, we decided that we don't watch the tv in our bedroom that often, and decided not to put it in our bedroom. We expressed our concerns about our wifi to the installers as well, and they also assured us there would be no issues. Our wifi has gone from slow to nearly nonexistent in our basement. My uploads are taking over ten times as long as they previously were. We called uverse, and they sent someone out to fix the problem. This is when things went from rocky to unacceptable. We were told that things were as good as they were going to get, and that there was nothing they could do. I was lied to from day one when my only specific request wasn't fulfilled like promised. I was robbed when I got into a one year contract that causes me to pay for a service that I am not receiving. Unless this issue is resolved, I will be canceling my service. read more

I used Direct TV service in Cary, NC from September, 2017 until February 25, 2019. It was billed through AT&T. I changed to Spectrum because of service interruptions during rain. I attempted to return the equipment the next day to the AT&T store, but they wouldn't accept it, so I took it to the UPS store as instructed on March 6. I received a bill for service through March 23. When I called, I was told I never called to cancel, so I owed for the entire payment period. I was also charged the $200.00 early cancellation fee. Direct TV issued a credit for $172.02 which AT&T does not acknowledge even though I have a billing statement to that effect. Also, AT&T will not wave the charge for the time I was receiving service from Spectrum because I didn't make the phone call to cancel, even though I had returned the equipment and service had been shut off by Spectrum. I am an older widow living on a fixed income and I don't believe this is fair. I recommend you never use service billed through AT&T. read more

We had DirecTV for 3 years. We would have cancelled sooner had we known that every time they send you a new box, they extend your contract another year. We had nothing but problems with our satellite. Every time it rained, we would get a "Searching for Signal" error. I thought everyone had problems when it rained, until I talked to a neighbor who never had outages when I did. Calling customer service was a nightmare. After spending what seemed like hours on hold, a representative would try some things and it wouldn't get any better. I would ask for someone to come out to re-calibrate the satellite and they said they couldn't send someone out until I called three times. So even though I was PAYING for service, I had to wait until they documented it three times before they would fix it. And each time I called, I was on hold forever. Wish there was a ZERO star rating. Switched to Direct TV last week...nothing but issues. Horrible service, unreliable system. The technician sent to install the system did not bring the correct tools to install the dish on the roof. He asked if we'd be OK if he put the dish on the balcony (across the front of the house)...sure, then we can just go ahead and start parking our cars on the front lawn. Since the so called "install", we've spent hours on the phone trying to work through error messages. This morning, apparently there is a storm affecting us according to the overseas tech,,,must be a small but terrible weather system circling directly around the dish, since it's calm and dry everywhere else. Really poor system, very unreliable, horrendous service. Only positive is that we are reading more. If you are thinking of switching service, think of all the acronyms for DIRECT and apply them to the front of TV...Indirect-TV, Intermittent-TV, Interrupted-TV, Tricky-TV, Unclear-TV, Obscure-TV....Dishonest-TV. It's a shame I have to give them even one star. I suppose I can justify it since I have spoken to several well-spoken, knowledgeable IT folks. We got Direct when we moved in to our new home less than a year ago. Our bills are never correct; sometimes they just decide to add extra things without any notification, then I have to call and get additional package de jour taken off. Most recently they decided to tack NFL Sunday Ticket on to my bill...no warning, just magically appeared. We had it last year and decided to cancel it at the end of the season. I even double checked with the CS associate to ensure it had been canceled. Honestly, I almost expected that to happen. It's particularly pitiful when you can count on a company to get it incorrect instead of correct. I think perhaps the worst part of this company, though, is how they manage their products and equipment. We constantly receive a 771 loss signal error. It's $99 charge to have one of their technicians come out and correct THEIR equipment/realign the dish. I could understand if I own the equipment. It's not my problem their equipment is faulty, I pay my bills, they should be able fix their own problems. I promise if a power line came down on my property, the power company isn't going to charge me to come take care of it. Also, when this occurs, you have to use time off from work to meet the technician coming to your house...well earned vacation hours. Meanwhile, I'm also paying full price while receiving no service for days. I will be thrilled when my two years with this company is complete. I will be considering other options. read more

I got a brochure in the mail about switching to ATT Direct tv. I called the number to set up an appointment. When I called it said to have a credit card ready. I asked to speak with a customer service rep. I then proceeded to ask him to schedule an appointment for a rep to come out to explain the process and where equipment would be installed. He said that they do not send out reps and it had to be done over the phone or online and I could not find out where they were installing it until they came to do the installation and after of course I had paid for the new account. I was hoping they were better than Comcast who I currently have. But I guess not. They all suck! read more

If your searching for a cable provider. Steer clear of direct tv. They are the worst!!!! When starting the service I was told that my monthly bill would be $72.99. Some how it changed to over $90 a month. I had to call and get the bill down to what i was quoted. After months and months of calling. I was told "sorry you were given the wrong information at the time of the contract". So basically I'm in a contract until 2018 but was quoted the wrong price!!! Whose fault is that???? AT&T you either own or have a partnership with them so I also blame you. What a rip-off. Not to mention I don't even have service when it rains. read more

DO NOT USE DIRECT TV!!!!!!! To make a ling story short i have made 5 attempts yes i said 5 attempts to have tv installed at my home and to this day i still dont have it!! You will be on hold forever and they take way to long to take care if something! After the 5th attempt i decided not to have cable unfortunately this is the only company that services my complex! Needless to say their customer service is horrible and did absoletly nothing to compensate for taking 3 days off from wk and screwing up my xmas for my kids, instead they tried to charge me $250 up front after having service with them for over a year! What a mistake. I had been using Comcast for years and when I had a problem with the billing I decided it was time to try Direct TV. When I called they said they could replicate the cable service I had for $200 in installation. I figured it was worth it. When the installers arrived I was told that they couldn't provide service to all three TVs like I had with Comcast. They then started to install the Dish without consulting me right off of my deck. When I stopped them and told them I wanted to have the dish placed on my roof like my neighbor had done they said they didn't bring the right ladder so I was out of luck. Fast forward two weeks when I go to use On Demand for the first time I am told I have to spend another $170 in equipment to use it or I can cancel for $420. HORRIBLE, stay with Comcast, they are the lesser of two evils. read more

I'm going with no stars...can you have negative stars? I have now sat at home for five/5 hour time slots waiting for a technician to come and bury the enormous black line that snakes all the way around my house. I have been transferred around and around for weeks, it has become my full time job to try and get them to come and finish the installation. My choices are leave it laying in the grass or hire someone to bury it...horrible customer service, horrible installation...I am disgusted and beyond angry...do yourself a favor and steer clear!!!!! read more

Horrible horrible horrible horrible. I was promised 50,000 miles with American Air Lines for signing up. This was back in April. Each time I call about the miles, I have been lied to and given the run around. I have spent hours and hours on the phone, each time being told something like "the miles will be there in a week." It's been THREE MONTHS. In addition, my service goes out when there's a thunderstorm. So the service is lousy, and the company representatives apparently think nothing of lying. Lordy, how fast can I switch to hulu? I agree with another reviewer who said it's too bad there is not a rating with zero stars. read more

Just an FYI to all my friends who have Direct tv. If you get an additional receiver, (which you have to purchase) after you originally sign up it extends your contract another 2 years! I just tried to cancel my service and found out I have a contract until August of 2015, because I added a receiver back in August. My original contract would have been up Jan 2013. read more
