They need to go out of business! Directv is a joke and headache. They don't keep their word! They will say one thing and do another. I will never do business with this company ever again!!! They don't deserve a star!!! read more

Update on my previous post ,as was suggested ,I called DirecTV again and they listened to my complaint, handled the problem, apologized for the confusion,, and lowered my bill! Apparently Att and DirecTV continue to be separate entities and I continue to be a TV lover! read more

I'm going with no stars...can you have negative stars? I have now sat at home for five/5 hour time slots waiting for a technician to come and bury the enormous black line that snakes all the way around my house. I have been transferred around and around for weeks, it has become my full time job to try and get them to come and finish the installation. My choices are leave it laying in the grass or hire someone to bury it...horrible customer service, horrible installation...I am disgusted and beyond angry...do yourself a favor and steer clear!!!!! read more

Horrible horrible horrible horrible. I was promised 50,000 miles with American Air Lines for signing up. This was back in April. Each time I call about the miles, I have been lied to and given the run around. I have spent hours and hours on the phone, each time being told something like "the miles will be there in a week." It's been THREE MONTHS. In addition, my service goes out when there's a thunderstorm. So the service is lousy, and the company representatives apparently think nothing of lying. Lordy, how fast can I switch to hulu? I agree with another reviewer who said it's too bad there is not a rating with zero stars. read more

Y'all suck! New Modem on Monday, due to no WiFi (kids with homework that require WiFi). It worked for 1 day before I had to schedule yet another technician to come out. Constantly lose my signal via TV, lose WiFi and pay $187 a month for this. I now get the pleasure to spend the night at my ex-husbands house for the next 2 days. You lost yet another customer, and I'm glad you did. GO AWAY, you're worthless! read more

Absolutely terrible. My parents has been with thus company over 11 years, so when I moved out I figured I would give them a try. They are unprofessional and incapable of solving any issues that you have. I originally scheduled an appointment for installation 9/5/17 and here it is 9/10 and I still don't have cable. I wasn't so distraught I took time on my lunch break to personally write a letter to corporate. Worst I've ever experienced in my life. read more

No trouble with the installer, he was a great guy. Got us set up in a couple of hours despite the rain, but when we set up our first show to record we set it for all channels and despite the show airing on our local CBS affiliate, the box recorded the show on a west coast mirror channel that is not in our channel line up. When we called DirectTV to get the issue resolved we got handed off from person to person at a call center in India for 3.5+ hours without getting the issue resolved. This included having a manager transfer us back to a floor associate, essentially hanging up on us. The customer service at the call center was terrible. While polite, you could not get a straight answer and they did not seem to understand our questions, concerns, or frustrations. We have been told that a "Corporate IT" ticket has been put in place and multiple times "that I will fix this with my own hands". My wife has had to take off work to have a technician come out to service the box. This has been an extremely frustrating experience. Not only have we not gotten what we paid for, but we feel that our concerns were not understood or were willfully ignored by the customer support group. read more

Direct TV SUCKS. I fired them because their customer service sucked. 2 months after service ended (Jan 2011) they billed me for a pay per view that they claimed I watched in October 2006!!! Their customer service said too bad, and becuase I had a credit balance when I left, I can't dispute the charge on my credit card. Don't ever use them! read more

My previous review was one star and would have been zero if I could: I am putting an update as the issue was resolved with an acknowledgement of our long relationship with the company. I am leaving up the review because it is frustrating that I have wasted a few hours of my life dealing with a situation that should not have happened in the first place. In contrast to the manager who first rudely dealt with me, the women who served me were exceptionally smart and professional. ***** I like my service however after the most disrespectful conversation over a disputed package, I am searching immediately for another company. I would give this company zero starts if the option was available. When opening up an online account I noticed something very strange that my family was charged for: Football package. We do not watch football, my parents couldn't tell you what football is. So when they called offering my sister a football package she said no, nobody watches foot ball in this house. Case closed? no. Evidently that wasn't enough information. She called to ask why and please to remove. After 20 minutes on the phone between being on hold and listening to Jeff say that her husband wants to watch football repeatedly, she asked for a manager who told her the same thing (She is not married), I went ballistic and demanded that this be removed right away. How delightfully sexist, by the way. Things that we were told: It was our responsibility to call to remove something we told them we didn't want when it was offered We need to watch our bill (fair point, but considering we said we did not want the package, we didn't think that you would still go against our request and charge us anyway) We still will be charged through February. Great customer service, guys! So watch your bills! read more

This company is real piece of s**#! Excuse my "french". Long story short we moved location from one state to the next. Never had problems in the other state...except severe weather interruptions which is to be expected with satellite service. But the customer service was great & better than their competitors (comcast) Now I don't know if the people in this state accept less and this is the norm around these parts..and I say that because we've gotten crap from quality places since we've reach here. But people need to make sure they are getting service they pay for in everything. Anyways they send a tech from a contract company MasTec who was a absolute jerk. He didn't do a thing. Then left without telling me he left. Had me sitting here for hours with my door unlock & my children in the house thinking he's outside calling in to find a solution to the problem which btw was simply a change in the work order...nothing technical at all. But he was so lazy $.&! so he didn't even want to deal with that so he just up & left. We call in to AT&T who owns DirectTV & of course they are like blah blah we are sorry someone will call you in 2-3 hours to come install your service. Let's just say 24hours & 10 calls later we still have no service & no call...despite being lied on & told that the tech called but could not reach anyone..and that was probably because our line was in use calling them, nothing. Umm NO...we were using a totally different line...people usually have more than one phone line between the two them...duh! Absolutely livid, vexed & disgusted with this company. If I could give no stars I would. I'm putting this review on AT&T just in case DirectTV also can't read. read more

DO NOT GET Direct TV - Service is Awful as is their picture quality (rain and wind affects the picture). Going back to cable.

As some other reviewers have stated the only reason I am giving one star is because I can't give zero. I was promised a $200 Visa gift card when I signed up. When it came time to apply for the card I was told I only qualified for a $150 card. I fought with their customer no service dept. for a week and ask why I did not qualify for the $200 card and was told "because you do not qualify." They could give me no reason. I told the customer service agent to listen to the conversation that was recorded when I signed up and they could see that I was promised $200. She said she listened to it and I was not promised $200. I finally called the of the president of Directv and within a day it was resolved. She said that she had listened to the recorded conversation when I signed up and I was in fact promised $200. read more

Let me first say I have been a Directv customer for 22 years. However, tried to watch a move on Direct last night. The time was over 3 hours, yet the actual move was 73 minutes long. By actual count, there were 18 commercials that ran each time there was a commercial break. Half way through the movie, I begin to time the commercial, time vs. the actual movie run time. You guessed it, the time for running commercials exceeded the time they actually ran the show. And I'm paying for this? Not any more. Changing to Xfinity and will receive more channels for $57.00 less per month. GOODBYE Directv!!! read more

Don't do it! I signed up for a ATT /Direct Tv bundle for $65 a month. They didn't bundle itso I was paying about $165 with extra fees. I was in a promotion that ended and my bill went from about $80.00 to $120.00. Unfortunately I could not afford it and called to see what I could do to get the bill down. The rep would offer me a one time credit to help out and found another promotion the get me into. Fine. Then the next month I would find a beginning balance that was the exact amount of the one-time credit and difference of the "promotion". Nevertheless, after several consecutive months of calling Directv and getting the same "one-time credit and promo dance" I decided to cancel my service. Four hours later I get a call from Directv retention dept. offering a very nice deal of reducing my $120.00 bill to $65.00 for the existing bill and $87.00 per month thereafter for 12 months if I extended my contract. So I agreed to that and paid the $65.00 bill. 2 weeks later I get a bill for over $120.00 and the rep said it was my fault for not paying the bill even though the Directv website told me that the total due was $65.00 and that it is a quirk in their website. So I'm cancelling it for good now. read more

Simply put-absolutely the worst product, service and company I have ever been associated with. Sales pitch: we have over 200 channels. True statement. What they fail to tell you is that nearly half of those are infomercials selling products or pay per view or music. In addition, you can rest assured you will see MANY, MANY, MANY interruptions where you will be required to unplug your TV and wait the 5 minutes for the reboot. And by MANY, MANY, MANY I mean it is not unusual to do it several times a day. Rain-no tv and no internet. Wind-no tv and no internet. Clouds-maybe, just maybe you have a chance. And go ahead and call customer service-I DARE YOU! I'm in a 2 year contract and I'd be better off living in 1965 with rabbit ears. You've been warned. read more

I have been a direct tv customer for over 20 years. I pay for equipment protection every month. In fact, I pay $40 per month in equipment related fees. After having the same receiver for over 7 years, they upgraded us to the new Genie. During this process, I was duped into signing a 2 year contract and now they have raised my bill an additional $50 per month. I had no idea of the contract until I called about the huge increase, I never knowingly signed a two year contract. When the workman came out, I thought i was signing a work order. Nobody said a word about any service agreement! I estimate I have paid over $25k to this service over the years...thanks for the customer appreciation, and for taking advantage of the edlerly! This is my 1st time getting internet and tv from this mess called AT&T and Direct TV. They lie, their late or never show up. Then they lie. Their customer service is the worst i've ever seen. If a could go back to cablevision i would. The guy came to install my cable and internet service. The house i bought had a satelite dish. The tech said he had to replace it. Since it wasn't an additional cost, i said sure, replaced it. He tells me according to their policy he cannot haul away the old satelite dish. Im responsible for disposing of it. I was promised a $100 credit on my bill. I recieved the bill, that shit was not there. I inquired about it, the rep on the phone had no record of it. Talking to this morons at att & direct tv is an absolute waste of time. The tech promised to send someone out to bury a wire he had installed. Nobody showed up & of course the morons have no record it. How r they still in business with such a crappy customer service. They show no respect for their customers. Thats why their service is based on a contract. Once your in, there's no walking away untill 2 years later. These idiots have no people skills. I Do not recommend this shitty service to anybody. I felt bad for the install tech, he was a nice guy, but how does he sleep at night after knowing well he just installed shit service at someone else's property. The sad part is, i cant walk away because at&t is the only show in town at my subdivision. This company needs to revamp & reconsider their strategy. I guarantee if they had competition they would be honoring every request and listening to every customer. They dont care. They say if u dont like your service then change it. Oh thats right you cant. DO NOT GET THIS SERVICE. Even if it is given for free. read more

Signed up for direct tv 3 months ago at costco. Representative seemed to be very well informed. Unfortunately that was not the case. Many of the services that i was told came with the subscription were actually add ons. Wireless was a choice that was given to me by the representative but he wasn't aware that he had to place that order and said the installer would handle it. The installer said that wireless had to be ordered at time of signup and since it wasn't, there would be an extra charge of $100. 3 months later there was a problem with on demand. Set up an appointment between 12-4. Technician never showed. I called and they said it had been cancelled. All they could do was give me another appointment with a 4 hour window. Picture is fine but everytime it rains the picture goes out. Sometimes for a few seconds sometimes for a number of minutes. Buyer beware. read more

Have been having issues with our DirecTV service for over a week. Started as choppy stuttered pixilations on the premium channels. After a few days it increased to full out error message of 771-Signal loss on Satellite in 1 and in most cases black screen. Multiple episodes of shows we record to watch later not recording properly (which we pay extra for larger storage and the ability to watch on all our televisions). Called mid week to try to get tech support. Was told it would be a $99.00 fee to have someone come out since that error meant it was a hardware problem. To waive that fee I was forced to sign up for the $7.99 a month service plan. The appointment was scheduled for today, 12/09/2017 between 8:00 am and 12:00 pm. We have had snow and ice overnight and to be honest I assumed the appointment would be cancelled. But I got up and checked on the web to make sure it was still scheduled. It was. And so i waited. At 11:30 I checked again and the service call had been cancelled. No one had called or emailed to inform me of this. I called the customer support line for DirecTV and after a 20 minute wait, i finally got through to Johnny. The account is in my husband's name and I an listed as secondary with full privileges. It really annoys me that they do not fully look at the account and notes within before forcing me to go through everything yet again. Johnny confirmed that the appointment has been cancelled due to the weather. I am already upset by the lack of communication and then i am informed that Johnny cannot reschedule the appointment. At this point I demand to speak with a supervisor and Johnny tries to talk me out of it. He finally (after a 10 minute hold) gets a supervisor on for me. I was told that since this was a reschedule, that the local repair staff would have to call and that it would be sometime with in the next 72 hours. It makes no sense to me how one office can schedule the original appointment but cannot reschedule it. I was offered a credit to the account that would cover maybe a third of of the time with out service. I find DirecTV's customer service deplorable. read more

So I decided to branch out from Comcast and try Direct TV/ AT&T for home entrainment. DO NOT DO IT!! They are TERRIBLE. First the sales rep that came to my door LIED AND LIED some more. The tv interface is TERRIBLE. It is not user friendly, you can not find anything your looking for without taking at least 5 steps. The set up and interface is NOT better than COMCAST. Listen to the Comcast commercials when they say 'Do not fall for Direct TV'. I know Comcast customer service is bad sometimes but Direct Tv is WORSE! I was hung up on 3 times and they want to charge a cancellation fee of 460 dollars and I only had the service for 3 WEEKS and never knew of signing a contract! Once I got ahold of someone in regards to the outrageous cancellation fee this lady Nicole (ID NUMBER 514919) tried to argue with me about the reasons why I didn't like it and said she was not going to do anything to help the situation. Moral of the story DIRECT TV/ AT&T is absolutely terrible! read more

After one year of a two-year contract, DirecTv increased the price of the same service 100%. They were able to offer no signed contract showing that this was indeed the agreed to deal. I have canceled as of today and will refuse to pay the termination fee being $20 per month left on the "contract" as well as a $15 termination fee. On Wednesday June 28th I spoke to a DirecTV representative who setup a technician appointment to come by my residence on Thursday June 29th between the hours of 12:00Pm and 4:00Pm. I requested and received 4 hours of personal time off to meet with the technician at my home residence located at ***. On Thursday June 29th at 12:53 I received a phone call from number 404-358-0121 who advised me that he was the DirecTV technician who was scheduled to come to my residence this afternoon. He continued by saying that he was unable to keep the appointment because he did not have the model receiver (Genie 2) in stock but would have it at 5:00am Friday morning. He then gave me a number to the Retention Department (800-824-9077) to reschedule an appointment for tomorrow morning. He stated, "There will be no problem having the installation done tomorrow morning." I explained to him my displeasure of taking time off from work to be here for the appointment and him not showing up. I could tell in his voice that he really didn't care so I hung up and called the number that he provided to schedule a new appointment. While talking to a lady in the Retention Department she told me that for me to make a schedule change she would have to transfer me to Customer Service Representative so she did. While speaking with the Customer Service Representative I was told that the next available technician would not be available until after July 4th. When I explained to her my situation about taking time off from work she advised me that she would talk to someone (I don't remember who) and "That someone will be giving me a call within 60 minutes to talk about when someone could come out to do the upgrade." I thanked her and we both hung up. So now I'm thinking that since no one is coming out today that I will make a playdate with my seven year-old granddaughter. So I make arrangements with her mother to pick her up and go have lunch and to go see the movie Despicable Me 3 3:00 o'clock showing playing at the Regal Hamilton Mill Theater. At 2:51 I receive a phone call from DirecTV number being 800-531-5000. When I answer it is an automated phone call with a recorded voice from DirecTV saying that someone was on their way from DirecTV today and would be there by 4:00 today. When I first heard the message I believed it to be a mistake so I called the number back and spoke to a DirecTV representative. I advised her of the situation and asked if she would confirm that someone was coming out today. She stated, "Yes, someone will be there today." So not wanting to have to pay for a missed appointment I told my granddaughter that I had to go back home. I saw the abundant of disappointment in her eyes. It broke my heart as much as it did hers having to disappoint her. I dropped her off at her mothers and hurried home where I patiently waited for the technician to arrive. At 3:39 I checked the DirecTV website at https://www.directv.com/myappointment to check the status of my appointment. As of 3:39 Pm the site stated, Appointment Update! Hey Lewis, Hang in there, you're still scheduled for today! Your technician is scheduled to arrive within the appointment window shown below. The Technician will arrive between 12:00Pm and 4:00Pm on 6/29/2017. Please see attached screenshot taken from my iPhone 7+ at 15:39 hrs. At 4:49Pm I called DirecTv again to check on the status of my appointment. At this time I was advised by the representative that a technician would NOT be keeping the agreed appointment and that no one was coming out today nor tomorrow. I was told that my appointment had been rescheduled sometime on July 5th. There are many factors that fall in play here where DirecTV failed in customer service: 1) When the technician received the work order on the morning of June 29th he should have checked his inventory at that time to confirm that he had all the proper equipment needed to do the work that he had been assigned to do. Had he of discovered that he did not have the receiver, (Genie 2) at this time and connected me then to cancel the appointment then I would not have loss 4 hours of vacation time and none of the heartache with my granddaughter. 2) That when told by the technician to call the Retention Department I was told to call someone that could not assist me; only to be transferred to a customer service representative that could not assist me yet told me to wait for a phone call within the next 60 minutes that never came. 3) Had someone called me within the 60 minute time period as stated by the first customer service representative advised I would have known that the appointment had been cancelled and prevented the heartache with my granddaughter. 4) Had the automated phone call had been cancelled in a timely manner I would have known that the appointment had been cancelled and prevented the heartache with my granddaughter. BEWARE OF AT&T/DIRECTV AND CHOOSE ANOTHER PROVIDER!!! I recently moved into a new construction home. As a result, lines hadn't been run to accommodate cable/internet service for my current xfinity/Comcast service. As a result, I reached out to AT&T regarding changing service to them. The customer service rep indicated that I could get DIRECTV and that I couldn't receive AT&T internet, but their third party internet vendors could provide service. Due to this being the case and my need for internet, I agreed to move forward with AT&T/DIRECTV cable service and their third party internet vendor. On that call I was scheduled for cable service AND internet service to be installed within the next few days. Cable service was installed on the day promised (that's a story in itself) and then I took time off another day for internet service to be installed. After being home most of the day I receive a text message from AT&T indicating that the technician would not be able to come at their scheduled time. The text message gave me the option to reply for someone to call. I replied with the word suggested, but got an error message. I ended up calling customer service to see what the problem was and when I could be rescheduled. I called and there was nothing on my account regarding a technician coming to install internet. No one knew anything about a technician or saw that I had one scheduled to come. I had a text message, which I can still show to this day, that I received from AT&T regarding that installation. Over the next couple of days I called numerous times to get clarity and no one could provide any information. Finally someone was willing to research my issue and found out that not only AT&T couldn't provide internet service, but their third party vendors couldn't provide service either. I was definitely bothered because I chose to switch service and have a satellite nailed on my roof due to the fact that internet service was guaranteed and even scheduled when I opened my service. She apologized and said that the rep who put in my order obviously lied to me. As a result, I asked to speak to a supervisor and was told a supervisor couldn't do anything but that the rep could put in notes and a ticket to escalate my complaint. That was over two weeks ago and I haven't heard from anyone about my complaint nor do I have internet service. Additionally, I had not received one piece of information regarding my new account, etc. after my initial account set-up (no confirmation, nothing). On the majority of the calls I made, I asked if my email could be confirmed and I was told that my email was correct. I was even told by one rep to be patient and that I'd receive an email within 24 - 48 hours after installation. As I thought would happen, I never received an email. I finally received some information in the mail days later and not only was my email incorrect, but my first AND last name was misspelled. If I could do it all over again I NEVER would have moved forward with AT&T/DIRECTV. I would not recommend service with AT&T/DIRECTV. BEWARE AND CHOOSE ANOTHER PROVIDER!!!! read more

My husband and I have had DirectTV for a little while...well actually we were swindled by a well-meaning ATT sales person into switching from UVerse. COMPLETELY HORRIBLE SHAME OF A COMPANY!!! I'm relocating back to the Atlanta area and was told that the only provider available through the complex is DirectPath, a subsidy of DirectTV. So I thought, how bad could it be? It's bendover, grab your ankles, and stick this sock in your mouth bad. Customer service all outsourced to some place where English and manners are obviously an option. I upgraded to have an HD receiver about a year ago. There was never a mention of contract extension. Had it been discussed, I would have not proceeded with the upgrade. I am not into contract extensions. I have been a customer for over 3 years. I decided to go with another carrier due to budgetary reasons, just like many others trying to find ways to minimize monthly expenses. I called Direct TV and advised them of my desire to end services. I was politely informed of an outstanding fee of $314.00 due to early cancellation. I challenged the operator who politely told me to go to the website to review the contract details. I asked him if he has a recorded telephone call that would verify this renewed contract agreement and he said that they did not start actually recording those calls until a month or so after my conversation with the direct tv representative. I have called twice and have not made much head way. I will now be contacting the Senior VP of Customer Car, the Corporate office, The State Attorney General's Office for Consumer Protection and the Better Business Bureau. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! I was just in a yelling match with a "supervisor" named Stephen. I recently moved, and have had my service for 6 months. They offer a "movers deal" where supposedly you can move for free, which is what I was told when I first signed up for their service. I knew I was moving, which is why I signed a two year agreement in the first place. Well, after all is said and done, their very vague "qualifications" in the fine print are basically at their discretion. I was lied to by the sales person, and then given the run around about the price. It ended up costing me $130 dollars to move. Terrible, how even they admitted the fine print was vague, and didn't list what would qualify you. Then the representative went in to how I am not profitable until at least 14 months of service, so I am not a valued customer! Can you believe they would say that??? I work at a bank, and if I told my customer that the Free Checking we offer them is not profitable unless they over draw and give us some charges, I would be fired!!! I am just disgusted with the entire situation. I will be sure not to renew my service when my contract is over. read more

Beware Direct TV, they will attempt to quietly bill your credit card while NOT providing service after you cancel. I have caught them three times doing this and they have issued credits the first two times. Now on the third time they are refusing to do so. I live in northern Georgia now, but I've lived in several other states and have dealt with many cable and satellite TV providers. DirecTV is by far the best, with their primary strength being consistency of service. My satellite connection is lost only during the very worst weather (approximately once or twice per year, and rarely for more than a few minutes). Additionally, their customer service is excellent. When I have had problems, e.g., setting up a new piece of equipment, I have always received professional, friendly help. I have nothing negative to say about DirecTV. I have recommended them to friends and family, and I continue to be impressed by their service. read more

I live in an area with great reception and I am so much happier than I was with cable! Today I called to cancel my premium channel since my free trial was up, and they offered me another special that allows me to keep the same channels for only $10 a month! The rep was friendly and knowledgable, totally exceeded expectations! read more

I was reviewing our Comcast bill and noticed Comcast had been overcharging us for over a year for 3 HD/DVR Outlets. I called Comcast, they agreed however they will only give us a credit for 3 months. That is their policy if there is an overcharge. Looking into DIRECTV now. read more

So I have been a direct tv customer for 10 years and lately the service stinks. I have had to call every time for the movies I've ordered because they keep falling off before the time is up. That's seriously been about 20 times now. My 6 year old son wants to watch the steelers game. Sorry but I'm not paying $50 for one day of nfl Sunday ticket. Bet I won't get a text asking me to review this call. I never do when I leave unhappy... Every time here lately read more

I've been a Direct TV customer for several years. Recently I decided to go with another service to save some money in this down turned economy. After the new service was installed, I called DTV to cancel. I was told that since I got an HD DVR from them last year I would be charged $220 early cancellation fee because I'd gotten new programming....I'd had HD programming for a year prior to this so there wasn't any "new" programming. At no time was I told that just by having a new piece of equipment I would be extending a contract. I was told by the rep that I would have to keep the DVR for at least a year and I agreed to that. That year was up in February.. I informed them that the rep told me I'd need to keep the DVR for 1 year, but the guy I spoke with said it was for 24 months. I kept trying to make him understand that this was not what I was told. After going round and round with him and having him tell me that they would hit my card on file with the charge, I responded that under these circumstances, I wouldn't stay with them if they gave me the service for free. I then went through their directory and shot off an email to their VP of customer relations. When she called me back, she wouldn't listen to me and kept parroting the same thing over and over..."it is a valid charge". I may have to pay this fee just to be rid of them, but I not about to go down without a fight. I will let everyone who listens know that Direct TV is the world's biggest ripoff and they should run, not walk, away if ever approached by them. The next day, Direct TV had the gall to have their retention department call me to see if they could get me back. You can guess where that conversation went. read more

This company has the worst customer service I have ever encountered. If one has to contact them by phone, plan to be on hold for at least 15 minutes. Contact by email will result in canned messages that have little relationship to your problem or needs. I cancelled my service and they will not issue a refund of a credit for 6-8 weeks. Try taking that long to pay your bill. I would never recommend this company as a source for satellite TV or to repplace cable TV. DIRECT TV SUCKS! read more
