After checking a few places we decided on A Simple Move because they specifically mentioned piano…read moremoving. We needed to get my piano and my daughter's wheel and kiln, shelf unit and 30 year old doll house to her house. AJ, Aubrey and Sonny showed up to move those heavy and fragile items. They were very careful and actually recommended we take the doll house in our truck to make sure it didn't get damaged - but they loaded and unloaded it for us. All three of the guys treated our items with care and were very nice. I would use A Simple Move again and ask for them specifically. UPDATE: The moving part went well but when I went downstairs last night I noticed that the slate tile floor was damaged where the piano had been dragged around to face the stairs - instead of lifted. (see pictures) There is even one tile that is completely cracked. I don't know what it will take to fix it but we'll be working to find that out. Also - I will have to go look at the legs of the piano to see if there was any damage there. The guys seemed to be so careful with everything that this surprised me - but it's clear to see what happened and that's disappointing.

I began asking clarifying questions about charges to which Mike became defensive, aggravated and annoyed--completely different guy then I had booked the job with.....and responded, "Ma'am, Im staring to feel uncomfortable about this"...given the fact that I was under the gun to move as my home was being sold, this comment upset me....Like, what, is this guy about to cancel on me same day?! He then got aggravated, started making countless references to canceling the job--That I was misremembering what was said. That perhaps we should "go our separate ways." I was obviously upset. I was simply asking for clarification on charges and all the sudden my move is being cancelled?! Mike then "politely" informed me that he would send a crew so long as I "paid with certified funds. I have waited to post this review as I was really hoping Chris would make things right, but it's…read morebeen 11 weeks since my move and it appears that's not going to happen. I used the company for 2 back to back moves in a week to my new home. The first day went well, and the crew was wonderful to deal with. The second day was where the problems began (though I need to say that Miguel and Derek were on both days and are exceptional individuals, extremely hard working and truly the backbone of the crew). On the second day, I showed the crew the basement and very specifically showed them what was gathered together to be taken and then the other 3/4 of what was in the basement that was NOT going in the move. As we had had a recent mouse issue, I spent days preparing prior to moving day to ensure that the mouse droppings were mitigated. About 3 hours or so later, I learned that the team lead and a crew member (who was not on the prior day's move) had spent the morning going through all of the stuff in the basement that was not being moved. They tossed and moved things all around, as though they were hoping to find hidden treasure?, and then asked me to re-explain what actually needed to be moved. The new crew member lied several times about what they had been doing, first telling me they hadn't moved anything around and then telling me they were looking for boxes that could be used to pack my kitchen stuff, which made absolutely no sense given my very explicit warning not to move any of that around due to the mouse droppings on it. They also spent time rummaging through a pile I had in the garage that was designated for a junk removal company. The crew ended up being hours behind in the move because of the 2 of the 4 members not doing what they were supposed to that morning. While the owner Chris did take some labor hours off for this, he also tried to minimize it and say that the one crew member was newer and didn't know policy. This was ethics, not policy. Fast forward to the unloading at my new house, and one of my picture frames that I'd specifically called out to be taken special care of had a chip in it, and Chris' dismissive solution was that I use a paint marker to repair it. The movers also pushed a box into a wall and created a hole. In unpacking, my large Bunn coffee maker that they packed was damaged and no longer useable, and 2 wall hangings are missing (I suspect in their unpacking, they were accidentally thrown out, although Brian told me that never happens...). Apparently all my issues with their service are dismissed as aberrations? I have sent over 7 communications to Chris and Brian asking them to resolve the issues, but they have not. When I made my bookings, I was assured that this company takes care of customers and that if any issues came up during my moves, they would make things right. That, however, has not been my experience. For the $9K I spent on their services, this is absolutely unacceptable.

This was not the trained, professional crew that was promised. It was a team made up primarily of teenagers with no real moving experience, and it showed in every part of how they handled our belongings. They were told repeatedly to wrap our furniture, including a 160-year-old antique piano, and they refused to do it unless I physically wrapped items myself. They had blankets sitting there, unused, the entire time. The piano handling was reckless to the point of being dangerous. They lifted it into the air and suspended it between two moving trucks, and dropped it multiple times in the process. This is a family heirloom, irreplaceable, and it was treated with less care than a piece of scrap furniture. And it did not stop there. At the end of the job, after everything was already loaded and my move was already at their mercy, they upcharged me on the spot and became disrespectful and confrontational, refusing to leave unless I handed over tips on top of what I had already paid. One of the crew members then asked me to pay him privately through his own phone, separate from the company's system. That money never went through the company at all. I have since asked repeatedly for an invoice to verify what I actually paid for and to whom, and I have been refused every time. I have called this company multiple times since the move asking them to acknowledge what happened and make it right. Every call has gone nowhere. No accountability, no invoice, no resolution, nothing but silence and excuses. This is a company that sends untrained, unprofessional crews into people's homes, damages irreplaceable belongings, strong-arms customers for extra cash at the point they have the least leverage to refuse, and then disappears the moment you ask them to account for any of it.
