I would give them a -10 if I could. They don't deserve 1star. Far too generous. This wasn't only the worst dog grooming experience of my life, but a terrible customer relations experience as well. As someone that had worked in sales and marketing my whole life, I can tell you it's fact they get so much business, because they're one of three groomers in town. These guys aren't special. I got my dog groomed there twice. when we arrived, his long her was judged. I have a silky yorkie. Most owners purchase silkies as oppose to a regular yorkie, because of their hair. The groomer instantly had a problem with him being long haired. If she didn't want to groom long haired dogs, that's on the groomer and an issue that should've been dealt with immediately. Instead, the grooming experience continued to get more passive aggressive. Second time I went in for a grooming, it was so loud, we couldn't hear each other. Bad vibes. I needed him groomed, so I didn't care. Apparently I should've been more in tune with how nasty they were to me. I told them both times to shave his ears all the way down, but I've had to shave his ears after getting him groomed, both times. I was never thrilled with that as it was. They could never hear my request to shave down his ears. I missed an appointment. Major life changing events occurred. Once I realized I missed my appointment, I began calling to make a new one. This is where the true passive aggressiveness began. They ignored my calls. As I said, I was aware they didn't like me or my dog. I kept calling. I do not drive due to a health condition, I need a local groomer. I didn't really care about their personality flaws, I needed my dogs hair groomed. They ignored every call till I decided to call from my work number. They answered right away. I was straight forward. Brought up my calls being ignored, they lied. Said it was nothing personal and booked me a month out. Having a long haired dog. Missing an appointment and the next one being a month out, his hair has become way too long. I desperately needed a haircut for my dog. The dog salon is a two mile walk one way, as it is. As I mentioned, I don't drive and retail shouldn't assume people do. Taking my dog to the vet or groomer is a day long event for me. Once I finally got my dog to this groomer, they rejected me at the door!! After all that waiting. Feeling bad his hair become so long. Was really looking forward to it. The groomer didn't know my dog was on the books. For someone who was upset I wasn't as attentive to my schedule and missed an appointment, interesting she didn't notice her own schedule! She got mad at the guy that booked it, in front of me. Basically, he was suppose to know, how dare he book an appointment. She went on to tell me that my dog is not within her comfort zone, which I would respect had that been dealt with in a professional manner, but it wasn't. And during the holidays? Have they no shame? I'm going to show up to Christmas with a shaggy dog? For an appointment that was anticipated for over a month, really? She claimed she was going to tell me at my missed appointment that she did not want to groom my dog. She did not make it clear if she was going to do his hair that day or not. But ignoring phone calls was how they thought was an appropriate way to tell me they don't like grooming my dog. Someone that resorts to ignoring phone calls as a way to deal with an undesirable situation, probably didn't have plans of being up front with me. I brought up that she could've called me at any time to discuss the situation, but she didn't. Judging and ghosting was a better solution. She told me she's not comfortable cutting a long haired dog? Pretty sure she's a professional dog groomer. Last I checked, that's what groomers do for a living. Not everyone with a long haired dog wants a puppy cut. My dogs cut is similar to a long haired Shih Tzu, it's not horribly complicated. If this groomer can only handle puppy cuts, they should advertise as such and not take in dogs that want something more creative. She claimed my dog has bad mats. If that was even true, again, this is what groomers do for a living. He's not perfectly brushed. He's not a show dog. He plays outside and goes on long walks. He gets brushed everyday. Plenty of people have complimented on how well brushed he is. Not everyone likes long haired dogs, but it's not up to the groomer. He has short hair on his body. His hair isn't even that long. His beard is, but that is the best kept part of his grooming. He is not a dog of massive mats. It's simply not true. My dogs vet approves of how well I'm taking care of his skin and hair. My vet is strict about this stuff and would be honest with me. my dog does not have bad mats. period. She also claimed my dog was nasty to her. If this is even true, speaks volumes about her. My dog loves everyone. He had a groomer previous to them, no such complaints were ever made read more

Amazing Dippin' Dot location! It's a nice treat after visiting the Monterey Bay Aquarium. There are very limited locations to get Dippin' Dots in SoCal. Besides Knott's Berry Farm and Universal Studios, the only brick and mortar location I know that's still open is in Arcada, which is never convenient for me to visit. I knew I had to stop by before we left Monterey. We entered the back way and were surprised to see the walls painted in the Dippin' Dot design telling us to follow the Dippin' Dots to the store front. It was very cute. They have all the classic flavors as well as new flavors. It's great for everyone! They also have scoop ice cream, which I didn't try. There's a couple of tables for you to enjoy your ice cream, or you can take it to go and enjoy it while you take a leisurely stroll down Cannery Row. read more

This is the only Dippin' Dots store location that I know of in the Bay Area (not counting amusement parks, etc where they have a cart). If you haven't tried Dippin' Dots before and like ice cream, you definitely have to give them a try at least once! The texture of the dots and the way they melt in your mouth is very interesting. There are a ton of different flavors in the shop, which is awesome since the carts usually only have 8 flavors or less. Only Dippin' Dots I know of left and I make the tedious drive to Monterey whenever I'm craving for some of this nitrogen, dry ice frozen delicious concoction of ice cream that should be served world wide instead of just Disneyland and theme parks or mall kiosks. It's seriously the best thing ever on Earth and everybody needs to try Dippin' Dots. It doesn't melt as quick as ice cream, but it still melts! It's basically a bunch of little dots that are freeze dried and sticks to your skin when you eat them. But then by the chemistry vested in your body, it turns into amazing ice cream like you wouldn't believe! Monterey is the only remaining location that I know of. Sadly, this place is sort of run down and it always smells like pee inside, but it shouldn't stop you from going. It's classic interior with even a juke box and so much pictures and different options you can get. The owner you can tell, she's that older meaner lady that doesn't seem to ever smile gives you what you want, charges you right away and let's you be on your way. Don't let her scare you. I mean, five stars on Yelp has got to mean something! (Ps. the floor is always sticky) The other employees are super sweet! If you've never tried, always ask for a free sample. They give free samples, so try all the flavors you possibly need or what! Plus, once you decided and you can't pick ONLY one, they let you MIX, half of one flavor half of another no matter what size you order either! That you don't get often, yay! Whenever I pass by one of those stands, I just have to get some even though the prices are a little outrageous ($4-6). The store front on Cannery Row in Monterey is the only one I know of and offers about 8 different flavors, much more than the number of offerings at park locations. I always stick with Banana Split (a mix of chocolate, strawberry, and banana) though since it's my all-time favorite! There is also an option to add soda to make an ice cream float too. The ice cream consists of tiny, individual dots, so it melts pretty fast, meaning that you should eat it quickly! This is never a problem for me though. They have many more flavors than carts do at amusement parks (where I usually see Dippin' Dots). I got a half banana split and half mint and chip. You almost can't go wrong with these balls of ice cream. It's just an amazing concept. If you've never had it, you live in a box - MUST TRY! Luckily I got there the time Idid, because when I sat down, there were TONS of people in line. Everyone loves it! I just wish the workers here were happier and nicer. Most amazing ice cream store in Monterey! I came across this randomly after visiting the Monterey Bay Aquarium and strolling down Cannery Row. The people who come here and order regular ice cream make me very sad. It's so hard to find Dippin Dots ice cream everywhere let alone a store! When you first walk up the stairs, they display the "new" flavors (like candy flavors and other gross ones) up front in the right. The original flavors (like banana split, cookies and cream, chocolate, strawberry) are in the left display. If you've never had Dippin Dots, I'd recommend going for the left side original flavors! First time ever trying Dots and I really liked it. It was a very unique type of experience. This place has a lot of seating so it was perfect for our large group. They also had some type of gourmet ice cream who's name eludes me, but I stuck to the Dots! Growing up in the '80s and '90s, Dippin' Dots were a special treat! How did they keep their shape and all this business?! Kid-brain blown. To see a standalone shop serving up Dippin' Dots is great in a tourist area like Cannery Row. My personal favorite is that they do a Dippin' Dots remake of some classic favorites, like rootbeer floats and affogatos. They also have interesting combos of their month made from their flavors. On the way back to my car from the aquarium, I was trying to find a way to beat the triple digit heat we were getting one weekend, and saw on the way the double doors to a dippin dots, I did a double take, I didn't even know that they had a actual ice cream shop. I know that this is a novelty ice cream, but I love how these tiny little beads of ice cream can stick to the roof of your mouth instantly creating a sheet of icy frosty creamy goodness, sending a constant throbbing brain freeze. It's such a fun and addicting feeling you just can't resist repeating. They do allow you to have two flavors in a cup and you can choose whatever and can even create a number of unique flavor combinations. Besides the different ice cream flavors, they also have a number of flavored ice, sherbets, yogurt and even sugar free. But who the heck goes into an ice cream shop and orders sugar free. Seriously that's as bad as a person that goes into a burger joint and get asks for a super size, extra beef, extra cheese and then decides to get a diet coke. I digress, the ice cream was stuck to the roof of my mouth just as I remembered, I still don't think that the ice cream is that much better then some of the other ice cream places I have been to, and that the shape is just for the sake of being a novelty, but nostalgia factor always adds to the taste of food. I agree the prices for this ice cream is a bit high and when I asked for water form the man behind the counter, the water was luke warm. I guess it helped melt the brain freeze faster, but I typically don't like to drink luke warm water. When I confused the small round dots with toppings, the lady behind the counter told me it was the ice cream and asked if I wanted to try a flavor. Skeptically, I asked for a taste of the strawberry and in moments my face was frozen. The science behind these must be interesting. I asked her the deal, but she limited the release of the secret to this: the tiny dots of ice cream are "flash frozen to 45 degrees below zero." This is the only way they will maintain their separateness and not mush together becoming, well, ice cream. Of course, when this particular temperature touches the moist insides of your mouth - it sticks. Remember your tongue on the chain link fence in the middle of winter (those of you that really know winter) - same concept. So, the only piece of advice I will leave you with is this.
