The lighting does make the interior look quite dismal but it's actually quite cute and the incredibly drawn murals would look amazing anywhere else. The dining area was completely empty on a Monday night and I could barely feel the ac. I asked about it and got the most noncommittal grunt from the waitress/bartender/hostess that she would check on it. I almost left but the many dings I heard from the electronic device told me that they do brisk online food orders so I took a deep breath and stayed. My chips and Salsa were fresh and tasty then I had a delicious shrimp quesadilla. The margarita was strong but quite flavorful. I waited 4 hours before writing this and the quesadilla is still with me. Therefore I'm not sure what the one person who got stomach upset was on about. The food did take some time to come out though so that didn't make me happy. This place looks rough but tastes good and is worth your time .

I told him I asked because I saw the dance floor, and inquired if there's any social dancing at the venue at all. He smiled, shook his head and repeated "no". Yet, when I went into the bathroom to wash my hands there was a flyer on the back of the door for weekly Thursday salsa nights! Very ironically, when I looked it up on instagram the teachers seem to be Afro Latina women! So, they're ok with Black teachers but not ok with Black people attending the salsa night. The man 100% spoke English, understood what I asked him and was even speaking to his family in English. Otherwise, I might have given him the benefit of the doubt! Outside of this, some of the food we ordered was ok but the Mexican shrimp dinner was unfortunately putrid! The shrimp smelled like someone peed in it. I would not ever return here again!

Looks like they were short staffed but the staff was really kind. They gave us a water bottle on the house when we asked for water - probably because they were super busy and didn't want us to wait long, which was really nice of them. The chicken burrito bowl was really delicious. The chicken was tender and well seasoned. all of the vegetables tasted really fresh. The cheese was melted and gooey in the best way. A really nice bowl! The restaurant itself is cute - in the summer, the front area opens up like a garage so it's mixed indoor and outdoor seating.

There was no wait when we went. The server was very attentive and immediately greeted us. Throughout our visit she continued being very attentive and friendly. We didn't wait long for our food either. We ordered the table side guacamole, but it wasn't made table side. They brought it to us in a large heavy black pot, but it was deceiving as there wasn't a large portion. It was $12.95. I wouldn't recommend this as an option. We also ordered the queso with shrimp and that was tasty. They do give you chips and some salsa upon being seated, but there is signage that the first basket of chips are complimentary and if more are needed you will be charged which is reasonable. We ordered fajitas which were tasty. Everything was very fresh. The rice and sides that came with them were delicious. The margarita was also good. I believe they have specials, but don't remember exactly what they were (check their socials). Overall, a great option for tasty Mexican food with good service. They weren't super busy which was nice since you can be seated quickly.

A small shop with two tables to enjoy your meal, however, I'd much rather take my order to go. I was greeted by a gentleman who I presume is the owner, who was very nice. Since I was only stopping for a quick snack, I only had plans to try one of their empanadas. I was set on the chicken however, they were all out, so I opted for their Hawaiian empanada. Which to my surprise, was quite tasty. The empanada was fresh, piping hot, crispy, and filled with gooey cheese, a pineapple sauce, and cubes of ham. If you're a fan Empanadas by Abuela offers four flavors of empanadas and a variety of other Columbian dishes. I definitely plan on making another stop to try more of their menu. I love finding great hidden little gems.
