The outside of the establishment could be a bit nicer, but it was a gem to come here. On the side, it looks like a bar but is family oriented (depending on the time). It opens Tuesday thru Sunday from 3pm to 2am, and it's closed on Monday. My family ordered everything from the menu. Arepa, sancocho, Bandeja paisa, carne asada, chicharron. All the dishes were served in big portions, and the favlor my uncle had the best time ordering beer from Colombia, and the sancocho (stew) was delicious. He said it was the best dish he had in years here in the DMV area if not the only one worth coming back (qlwe drove 50 minutes to come here). First off the arepas looked like small personal pizzas. I was highly disappointed in that. They were tasty but not what I wanted. My fiancé said the beef was a little salty to him as well. The Grilled meat Entree was not good the Plaintains were sweet and soft. The rice was basic white rice but the meat was like chewing leather but the flavor was decent. The texture just was not there. The club Colombia reminded me of vacation so they were very nostalgic. The restaurant doubles as a bar playing Colombian music. We might entertain the bar for beer but defiantly not for arepas !

Their arepas are crispy on the outside, soft inside, and packed with flavorful fillings. Everything felt comforting yet unique at the same time. One thing I really appreciated is that the entire menu is 100% gluten free, but honestly, you wouldn' even notice because the food is just that good. Also, don't be deceived if the food doesn't look super "picture perfect" online or in photos (or at least my photos lol). It may not be the most photogenic food, but it's sooo worth it! I actually ordered almost everything on the menu because I had no idea when I'd be back in Lancaster again . My favorite was the fried rice with chicken and plantains, so flavorful and satisfying! My husband's favorite was the Lomo Saltado Bowl and Pernil Arepa. We also loved the yuca fries, which were perfectly crispy without being overly greasy. I originally stopped by to get a drink, but I ended up trying the caserito, which was sort of a combo meal. This meal included a delicious soup, a beer filet, beans, rice, and a small salad. It was quite the meal for only $14 bucks. I do not remember the name of the bean-based soup, but it was out of this world delicious. For $14 bucks, I thought the portions were quite generous. The service was pretty good. Since the bartender/waitress did not speak much English, dining here gave me the perfect opportunity to practice my Spanish. I googled empanadas near me and Franchesca's had the highest rating. I walked in and the environment was welcoming. They have a high bar/counter and about 5 tables. There were a few people eating, but there's plenty of room. I ordered about 20 empanadas. 5 of the shrimp empanadas, 5 beef, 5 shredded beef & potato, 5 chicken & potatoe. You can get the empanadas in either white or corn flour and they have vegan options. Your order comes with picante, aioli, and 3 pepper sauce. The sauces are really good as well. I got to my friends and the empanadas were a hit. Everybody enjoyed them. I'll definitely order from there again.
