Stopped in because I was passing through Farmville and they served breakfast all day. But...since…read morebreakfast choices were a bit more than their sandwiches, I went with the pork BBQ sandwich with slaw. It comes with potato chips. I'm sure I could've up charged to fries or something else but wanted to save some pennies. The waitress offered sauce and I should've taken her up on it as the barbecue was a bit dry, but tasty. The service was friendly and quick. Not much to the inside as far as decor but clean. I was a bit disappointed to find out AFTER I had eaten my meal that I was charged more for not paying in cash. I understand that credit card companies may attach a fee to the use of their card. However, this should be included in the price of the CHOICE on the menu, not a surprise ending on a receipt. It could also be mentioned before ordering and/or printed on the menu above or below the raw food warning. Otherwise, if you're looking for a quick bite to eat and have cash, I can recommend the pork barbecue. Get the sauce.

When we contacted the server and brought it to her attention, even showing her the omelette, she replied, "Oh well, it was supposed to be on there." She then went and checked with the cook. She came back and reported, "The cook said he put it on there, so maybe it's on the other half." Upon checking the other half, we found only 3-4 pieces of mushroom and tomato pieces. Who only fills up one half of an omelette with the ingredients requested!?! No adjustment was made on the bill. Service was less than adequate. No lemon was provided with the water and tea, even after requesting it. No ketchup was provided for the potatoes and onion rings, we had to ask. No butter was provided with the toast, again, we had to ask. Needless to say, we won't be returning. This was our first and last visit.

They have a large parking lot and our right next to a gas station that can be accessed from their lot. This is a bonus for motorcyclists. The restaurant is spacious - several large tables seating 8 people in the center and booths along the left side. Long bar with chairs along the right wall. Semi-closed off area at the back, where they set up the buffet. Sadly the buffet was not available yesterday (Saturday). This is the first time it hasn't been open. There are a few tables in this area also. Bathrooms located on the right side at the back of the restaurant. The food is great. We've never been disappointed. Yesterday there were 9 of us and the restaurant was less than half full. Our food arrived in a decent amount of time. Everything was warm and fresh. I always get the BLT, which is loaded with bacon. I usually get onion rings, which are great. Not greasy at all and fried to a perfect crisp. I didn't get as many rings as usual. The folks who got hamburgers were pleasantly surprised to find out they were double patties. They said they were cooked exactly as ordered and the fries were great. Other items ordered were a Phillie cheese steak and an egg breakfast with hash browns. Our waitress was quick to refill glasses and checked on us many times. We were only given one ketchup bottle and luckily there were only a few of us who wanted to use it. I recommend this to anyone looking for a casual, all-American, hometown place to eat.

The interior is pretty dark with dark woods on the walls, the one picture window in the front, and sporadic lighting throughout. They weren't super busy when I arrived and for a window of time, I was the only guest in the restaurant. I was there for a hot dog and, given the toppings that were available, ended up with cole slaw and mustard. The hot dog came with chips but I asked for potato wedges as the side. The food came out quickly as a plain hot dog on a plate with chips and potato wedges. Clearly we had a bit of miscommunication. I ate a few wedges before the server came by, looked at my hot dog, and noticed things were missing. She went to the kitchen window and brought back a small cup of cole slaw with her apologies. I DIY'd my hot dog and ate it down along with the wedges and chips. The chips were store bought. The Wedges were well cooked with those bites that were crispy on the outside and really soft potato goodness on the inside. I wish I had been offered a refill on my drink during my meal. All in all, it was a fine meal at Farmer's Cafe.

Lovely decorations and definitely has a 50s feel to it. I got the bacon jalapeno burger omelette, fries and 2 slices of toast are included. The omelette was delicious and chock full of toppings, my only possible complaint would be that the cheese coverage didn't reach the far end. However, that can probably be specified beforehand and its not enough to knock of a star. Regardless of this, I loved it. The bacon and burger were full of flavor and the grilled jalapenos had just the right amount of spice. The grilled onions on top were a great touch. When you're done with your omelette and there's leftover toppings on the plate, you can use fries to sort of scoop them up (awesome). The service was also great. The waitress was talking to regulars, and even asked us what we were up to today. Food came out pretty quick and she asked us if we wanted refills the moment our cups were low. Overall, nice little place. Forgot to get a picture of the food because I was so focused on eating. If I ever come back through the area between the operating hours of 8 and 2 I will certainly be going here. If I happened to pass through after they closed I would probably break in for the pie. (Kidding)

This is a must-visit for diner enthusiasts. The building sits on the north-south main thoroughfare…read morethrough historic downtown Farmville, an area once lined with tobacco warehouses. It is very small, with about fifteen stools wrapping around a classic service counter. According to the menu, the diner is a "One-Master Model 15-Stool Valentine steel building," made by Valentine Manufacturing Company of Wichita, Kansas, in 1955. They have a small parking lot in back of the diner. I parked there and then saw a bathroom entrance sign -- after a 2 1/2-hour trip, nature was calling. It is a very clean bathroom located at the rear of the building, with a separate entrance from the parking lot. There is no access to the restroom from inside the diner -- a unique and nostalgic feature you don't see much anymore. I walked around to the front of the building, entered, sat down on a stool, and was greeted with, "Y'all having a good day so far?" I had a half sweet/half unsweet tea and the Cheeseburger Deluxe with no mayonnaise. It came with lettuce, tomato, pickle chips, onions, French fries, and cole slaw. I put ketchup on the fries, but the fresh tomato alone provided plenty of flavor for the juicy, delicious burger. The French fries were crispy and delicious -- exactly what you hope for at a classic diner. The cole slaw was outstanding and clearly tasted homemade. The pies looked incredible, and because the cheeseburger platter was so good, I had a piece of blueberry buttermilk cake topped with whipped cream -- wow! There is also a clearly posted 3% surcharge if paying with a credit card. Prices are reasonable, so it didn't feel like an issue. This was a great overall experience, and I would recommend this classic, nostalgic mid-20th-century diner to anyone traveling through Farmville. It closes at 2 pm, so plan accordingly!
