It's funny how things happen. Our daughter asked me if I would help her try to replicate some delicious lentil soup, she had at a place called Dinar. I said, I just need a sample. Later that morning, I decided we should go there for lunch since Ms T was out to lunch (literally, this time) with a friend. As a result, KT and I ended up at Dinar, a first time for me. I have driven by many, many times and have not taken the time to investigate. I kind of assumed it was Indian cuisine or maybe pan-Mediterranean. I had no idea. She told me that they provide a complimentary small serving of the lentil soup with meals, but we asked for a large serving each and shared an Iraqi Chicken Tikka sandwich. The soup was delivered first, and I must say that it is very good. It has delicious chicken flavor and is not really spiced in any other way, although there is plenty of salt. We loved it. I shook on a little black pepper and really enjoyed it. It is simple, yet so good. The Chicken Tikka sandwich was ordered with their Iraqi bread, which I highly recommend. This sandwich is something I would also go back for. The chicken is well seasoned and grilled so that it has a good char-flavor. It is dressed, with pickle, onion, tomatoes and herbs. It is flavorful and the chicken is not dried out. There are a lot of things to try on their menu. If I can't get Ms T to go, I'm sure KT will meet me there occasionally. There have been several restaurants in this location over the past ten years or so. I hope that Dinar can succeed. read more

We had a wonderful Sunday lunch at Dinar with friendly service. The restaurant has a store front format and we ordered from the table. The chicken shawarma was flavorful, as were the rice and veggies it came with. I asked about authentic Iraqi food, and was told their sandwiches come with Iraqi sauce. Perhaps I will try the sandwich version next time. The menu is very similar to other Mediterranean food I've had, and I'm told the recipes are specifically from Iraq. read more

Fantastic middle Eastern kebabs - I got the mixed grill over rice. My favorite was the beef kebab (made with ground meat). The rice with the garlic sauce was delicious. The hummus was very creamy, smooth and fresh with the olive oil drizzle. read more

My first experience here after hearing about opening not too long ago. Restaurant is very clean and esthetically pleasing. I arrived to place a to-go order - wasn't immediately greeted, but after a few minutes, was greeted and asked if I was placing a to-go order. I asked about different bread options and was presented visually with all options - which was great as I wasn't incredibly familiar - and landed on the Chicken Shawarma sandwich on Iraqi bread. After ordering, wait time was about 10 mins and off I went. The gal I ordered with was very pleasant, however, there were others in the back that could have came out and helped her. The chicken shawarma was delicious and very flavorful, not even remotely dry (which can happen). The garlic spread on the side was great complement to the sandwich. The tabouli salad was fine - needed a bit more lemon and additional fresh tomatoes to give it a bit more zing. Overall - I enjoyed it and will definitely try again. read more

I read a review about Dinar from the local paper's restaurant critic, which rated it as recommended, so we decided to give it a try. It's pretty good. They pack a lot of flavor into their food. A couple of relatively minor misses cost the 5th start, but I'd definitely go there again. We started with tabouli as an appetizer. It had a bright, zippy flavor, and was a generous portion. However, there were no pita chips or anything to eat it with, other than our forks. In fact, I checked the menu after the fact, and it seems that none of the apps (hummus, jajik, baba ganouj, yalanji) come with anything to scoop/pick it up - at least based on descriptions and pictures. Either that or the server neglected to bring us ours. I went with the beef shawarma sandwich meal, which comes with fries and a drink. The beef was very good. They give an option of steak sauce on it or on the side. The critic had raved on the sauce, so I had it put on the sandwich. For the bread, I went with the Iraqi bread choice (as did the wife for her sandwich). This is a soft pocket bread, similar to pita, but softer, that still holds up to the meat and fillings (tomato, onion, etc.). I forget the brand of the steak sauce - there was a bottle on the counter by the register - but it was like a tangier A1, quite good. This changes the profile of the shawarma so that it tasted like eating a very well seasoned, shaved steak sandwich. My fries were enjoyable, too. Light, crispy outside, pillowy inside, with a nice seasoned salt sprinkling on top. The wife ordered the falafel mix sandwich, on the server's recommendation. She originally was going to go with straight falafel sandwich, but the server mentioned the mix which includes eggplant. Sandwich also comes with tomato, onion, tzatziki sauce, etc. Another winner. Both the falafel and eggplant were done well. Dinar also offers a mango sauce (which was also garlicky), which the wife got on the side. It was good. And good to get it on the side so it doesn't overpower the sandwiches. Also made a good dip for fries besides the supplied ketchup. One other small quibble, besides no appetizer chips. The critic mentioned that when you eat in, they serve a complimentary bowl of lentil soup. We didn't get that. So the wife ordered a bowl, but the server said they ran out yesterday and hadn't made any more yet. So this explains why we weren't presented any, but they should have provided something else or said something. We didn't make a deal of it, but that was part of what we were expecting when we decided to eat in there. read more

Take out on a Wednesday evening- ordered chicken shawarma sandwich, Iraqi chicken tiki, 5 in 1 appetizer tray, and a dessert. We enjoyed everything; I thought the rice was seasoned perfectly and the sweet cheese dessert was the stand out. Super tender chicken. read more

I just had a togo order which was a little frustrating as they asked my name when ordering it over the phone but when I went to pick it up they didn't ask my name, just what I ordered.. like ‍what I ordered, that was 20 minutes ago. So that became an ordeal. I waited for the food to arrive and it took about a 10 minute drive to get home. The food didn't seem like it was prepared recently, closer to a couple hours ago. We just tried this place for the first time and everything was delicious. The best chicken shawarma and the garlic sauce is amazing! My kid got the sandwich with fries and i had the plate with rice. Very friendly service! Only reason i fid not give it 5-star is that the fries were barely warm, i feel they would have been so much better if they would have been served hot right out of fryer! I had the Beef Shawarma sandwich, which was great. Just as everyone else has said, the bread is perfect. I did meet the owners, and they were extremely pleasant and helpful. We found this restaurant while driving down Manchester Road. We love Mediterranean food and noticed this place that opened a couple of weeks ago. We were greeted by a very friendly person behind the counter. She explained various dishes and we gave her our order. We were promptly greeted with a complementary bowl of lentil soup, which was great. We ordered Iraqi chicken and beef Sharma dishes. They were served in Iraqi bread which was very tasty. The chicken shawarma on Iraqi bread is, honestly, one of the best thngs I have ever put in my head. Succulent, seasoned chicken, garlic sauce, and pickle on the fluffiest bread. Bread is usually, for me, just a vehicle for the other ingredients. This bread is something special.
