Demassi's is perhaps the most consistent buffet I've eaten at. The fresh salads really go well with all the other dishes. There's 3 or 4 types of rice daily, but the crowning glory is the do-it-yourself pita. You can get all the ingredients from the Buffet and assemble to most epic gyro. But what I really go there for is the fried chicken. Cost per meal is about $12 and this includes the beverage (not too many places include drinks) There's a few dessert items like Baklava and cookies, but who has room after all the other great options? I lived for a year in the Middle east and loved the food when I was there. I kinda think it is under-appreciated in the US because its different and we by-and-large don't care for Muslims but, that is a different string. When you walk in, its not much to look at. If fact, the only thing that I really noticed was where the buffet line starts. This is your first clue that this place is about the food, not the atmosphere. (I like the 60's cafeteria analogy from Justin C.) On to the food: You get hit with salads first and, ya know, i could probably just park it here. The Greek salad was cold, fresh and, nicely dressed with olive. The cucumber salads were terrific and the hummus and Laban (that's the yogurt with mint and herbs) was fantastic. Speaking of hummus, make a little hole in your dip and add some olive oil for a real treat! The stuff is smooth and has a great flavor and texture. Let me just say that all of the salads were terrific. and that I never have been disappointed with them. On to the hot dishes: I love felafel and these are excellent. Fresh and hot, crispy on the outside and flavorful on the inside. The kafta kebab was very good with a lot of herbs ground into the beef. One surprise was the fried drumsticks. Deep fried chicken is not a ME dish but this stuff is great! I'm not sure what makes theirs so nice but make sure you grab one and you'll see what I mean. Icould go on but let me cut to the bread: I've noticed that when a restaurant has fresh baked bread of any sort, that it tends to make the meal. These pita are so good I cannot believe it. Wonderful puffs, crispy on the outside and steamy inside. I'm pretty sure this is the kind of bread we get in heaven. tear a piece off and dip it into that hummus you got earlier - good stuff. But, leave room for dessert: The baklava is just delicious and, it's not too sweet, either. Its a perfect bit of sweetness after a nice lunch. I didn't like the other offerings as much although they were OK, the baklava is and will continue to be my favorite. Go back as many times as you like and try something different. You will be well pleased. The staff is friendly and seems to be genuinely appreciative of my business. The bus-man would pick up plates as soon as I was done. Payment is on the honor system, you just walk up to the cash register and tell the man how many meals you are paying for. Serious question - how often does a business trust you as a customer? Try to return a shirt without a receipt and you will get my drift. All for $10, including drinks and dessert. Go here for lunch with your colleagues or meet friends here for a meal. The price of $12 is steep for the quality of food served here. The decor of the restaurant is plain, there is some sort of odor in the restaurant, and customers are mainly middle eastern. Restaurant has a wide variety of buffet, but the display is not very attractive. The hot water under the serving bowls is dirty, filled with food, and you can see all that when they change those big bowls. I saw it and found it disgusting. Felafels are not put in the vegeterian section, but are put in the middle of meat dishes. If you are vegeterian, which I am, you will not like it. Because when people are taking meat dishes, they tend to spill the meat on the felafels. Pita breads are served hot and was the only highlight for me. I will not visit this place mainly because of cleanliness, odor in the restaurant, quality of food, and price. Would prefer to go to Fadi's instead. read more

I as very dissatisfied with their rude behaviour went there with my family of 6 to their restaurant at 8.30 in the night on sunday and the manager was there on the door refused the service to us when i told him the timing on the internet says it is 10 and you said u close at 9 then why you are refusing service and he replied if we want to come in the restaurant we can but at 9 exactly they will take away all food from the trays and turn off the light. Their food is just GROSS, especially the "kebabs!" no taste in the meat and cooked very badly... so basically if you decided to go there, u would have to fill your stomach with the salads. They need to change their cooks asap&ingredients if they want to put their business in a better position... Food was actually decent but I wont ever return here, one of the staff stole my phone and the manager of the joint clearly covered it up. I left it on a table for about 30 minutes, I was able to track it but it was shut off as soon as I notified the manager that I had tracked it back to the restaurant and was coming back to get it. This is our go to place for Mediterranean. The food is always good, pretty fresh, and they are never out of anything. The location is clean and easy to find. Staff are always nice. Dimassi's is my favourite "worldly" cuisine. It is always packed, and people from many different cultures come here, often. The food is good, and fresh. I think maybe a bit too fresh. I once had a moth in my salad because it came in as they were just unloading the truck. The manager was VERY apologetic and comped our meals. It was clearly an unavoidable mistake because the salad was freshly washed. All of the other hundreds of times we have visited have been superb. The recipes are tried and true. We enjoyed the prompt work done by the staff to keep the buffet clean and restocked with delicious foods. I must recommend the chicken. I don't even like mustard, but it is phenomenal. The price includes drinks, and it is a large space with families and great discussions and laughter. I have never felt more at home at a restaurant than here. Oh, try the za'atar (looks like a pizza bread with green spices). Though I've never HAD crack, I'm pretty sure that's what it would taste like. read more

Friends love this place and wanted to meet for dinner. We had never been and Mediterranean food sounded good so we said ok. It's an AYCE and place was pretty packed but since our friends had gotten there first we didn't have to wait as they already had a table. The lamb shank is included in the price of the meal and our friend said we had to try it. The shank was not on the buffet area with all of the other items and you have to get a ticket from the cashier/front area then hand it to the meat guy at the end of the line. Its not something they advertise so luckily our friends gave us this tip. Not a fan of shank but my husband loves that cut of meat so he tried and thought it was worth the extra effort. Everything was solid but my favorite was the bread. It was freshly made and so good...I could eat a dozen! Dinner buffet was only $13...with beverage! Now we know why our friends love it so much...can't pass up a good value especially when that price includes all you can eat lamb shanks. The down side of our visit to this affordable place were the children running around. Some parents didn't care that their children were making a mess and being obnoxious. They also ran out of ice so our drinks were room temp for the first half of the meal. Overall a solid place if you're looking to fill up for cheap. read more

This is a pretty good buffet, I love medditarian food and this place has a ton of variety and I think the prices are decent for a buffet ($12 with drink) . I think this place could improve if they just did a couple things: 1. Make sure everything you are serving is hot, have some people go out and try a random thing, is it hot? If no, make it hot. When I went lots of stuff was lukewarm, not good. 2. Try and improve the selection a little bit, do you need to have 3 types of rice? With 3 different soups? 3. Add in some better deserts? The owner was inside arranging the buffet furnishings and generally getting things configured. I knocked on the door and he opened it. "I'm famished!" I told him. "Well, as you can see, we're not quite ready to serve customers yet," he informed me. "When will that be?" "Soon," he said. Well, it wasn't soon enough. But now they've been open for N years. I would come here more often because the food is amazingly delicious. However, it is usually crowded and poorly maintained. Sometimes there are tables filled with empty dishes where no one can sit. When we are in the mood to pig out on really healthy food, this is the spot! You won't find any tastier vegetables in all of DFW, from the velvety and distinctive Pomegranate Eggplant to the silky smooth Baba Ghanooj, every item they have on their buffet is a cut above the other Mediterranean buffets, and for less money than that other guy right around the corner (Ali Baba--don't even bother!). The atmosphere needs work, but the food and service at this price is amazing. Who needs more convincing? The spinach and lentil soup is the best buffet soup around. And who can resist the tiny bites of Mediterrranean pastries for dessert? For finicky eaters, they have standard pizza and cheesy bites at the end. NOT SERVICE DOG FRIENDLY ! I've never been so embarrassed in my life. The mananager called the Richardson Police after asking me to leave because I have a service dog. The police were very professional, asked to see my and dogs ID. My dogs are professionally trained and I have a HC van w/ plates. PD told mgr I couldn't be refused access. Some of the staff apologized but it ruined my meal and pretty much my day. The kicker is I have been going to this restraint for over two years with one or another of my service dogs and the staff have been more than supportive and friendly. Every time I go their the customers come to my table to complement how well behaved and beautiful my dogs are. I have bragged on the place and invited dozens of friends there for lunch. Dimassi's is delicious. They have everything you can possibly think of when it comes to Mediterranean food. Hummus, baba ganoush, fresh bread, kufta, chicken, beef, fish, you name it. The interior is big and usually it's pretty busy during peak hours (especially on weekends) so it's best to get there when the buffet opens! read more

I was waiting in the restroom to wash my hands. The person in front of me was washing his hands, arms and head. And I was getting ready to to wash my hands when I saw him pulling his socks from his feet and started washing his feet. It was disgusting. So I decided to use a hand sanitizer instead. Later I realized that inside the restaurant there is a small area to pray and that's the reason why this person washed his feet. I am fine with people praying but if the restaurant is going to have a place to pray then they should also have a place to wash their feet instead of using the restroom sink. read more

I want to start by saying that I like their food a lot. What I do not like is the management, and the dining room. We have gone several times, the first being a groupon. The food is always the right temperature, which is more than I can say for the restaurant. We went this past Sunday, and although I know it was over 100 degrees outside, it was at least 85 degrees inside! To top it off, there was a huge wasp flying around inside, and I alerted the manager/owner, but he did NOTHING. The wasp chased off several diners who had small children, and it actually landed on my husband, but did not sting him. I do not want to eat in desert-like conditions, and I do not want to get stung by a wasp just so I can have fresh pita and hummus. This place also needs a really good cleaning...don't look at anything too close, or you will walk right out of there. So disappointing to have so much potential, just to let neglect win out. Really good , we went for lunch and it was a late lunch around 3:00 . We were there till about 4:30 and saw people getting a lamb shank that looked awesome. I went and asked how we could get that and we were told it starts for there dinner time and you ask for a ticket. It's a little more for dinner but it is soooo worth it . I had not ever tasted a lamb shank and WOW . So definitely go and try this place and it will blow your socks off . read more
