I really wanted to love this place, but don't. 1) Tiny little fruit flies ALL OVER THE PLACE - the table, the menu, my glass!!! 2) They have this large dining area yet they jam everyone ordering in the same dining area - felt stacked one on top of the other 3) The order I placed was incomplete and what did show up was wrong. 4) The food tasted pretty good -- but about 2 hours after my guest and I left we both got sick. I'm fairly new to DiMartino's. Been there a time or two several years back and remember being ok. Went back last month and was good but not great. I was satisfied because we just needed a simple dinner. Tonight we went and had the eggplant sticks and they were good, salads came and the Italian salad was ok but was so drenched in oil I couldn't eat it. We let that go and 3 out of 4 of us ordered the filet, 1 ordered the filet tips with Alfredo pasta. The steaks were absolutely awful. They had a weird taste of natural gas. When we brought it up to the waitress she said she would bring out the manager. Out can a sweaty female cook, not why you expect as a manager, who couldn't understand why we had a bad steak. I showed her the chewed up steak that I had to spit out into my napkin because it was so bad and all she could say was that she would talk to her supplier. She did offer something else, but think about it, would you order something else after having to spit out food? I asked for the check and they didn't bother to comp anything and being a person that typically lets things go I just passed the waitress my credit card and let the others get ready to head home. Would you believe the waitress forgot to run the card and left me sitting there waiting while the rest of my family was waiting in the car. I have eaten here a dozen times or so having said that I will tell you that they have been all over the board. After tonights experience I won't be back. Tonight we were a party of 6 two of us ordered the 14 ounce hand cut ribeye medium and mine came well done and my friends came out medium the waiter apologized and brought my steak back to the kitchen agreeing that it was way over cooked. Rather than taking my plate back to the kitchen he takes my fork and slides it onto another plate leaving me a plate full of drippings from the steak with a ceramic bowl of broccoli sitting in my plate of drippings. I get my second steak about 25 minutes later and it's medium rare with a cool red center not medium but that's ok I decide to eat this one. Out of the first four bites I am only able to swallow one having to spit out the other three because there is so much hard grizzle that I can't chew it enough to swallow. I cut the other side of the steak and it's just as bad so I call the waiter and tell him I'm done I do not want another steak. He understands and apologizes. We order coffee and desert. A few minutes later the manager comes out and tells me that he spoke to the owner and that his message to me is that they hand cut their steaks and sometimes they just come that way with lots of grizzle so in the future you (meaning me) might want to order something else of the menu. I was surprised by this as I explained to him sending me a well done steak rather than medium and then sending me an inedible one was no fault of mine. Would not recommend this restaurant for these reasons, they are over priced considering the quality of the service and the food consistency. It's a beautiful million dollar restaurant building serving average quality food at high end prices. read more

Let me start by saying that everyone with a cellphone is now a critic. I would not want to own a restaurant in this day and age. With that being said, this restaurant widely disappoints on so many levels. I have eaten here several times over several years. I always hope it's good because it's really close to my home. Unfortunately that's not the case. I recently tried it again. It's so simple if u want a really great roast beef, u have found your restaurant. It was excellent. If bears is closed your covered. I had the fried mushrooms several times and they were good, however they changed them. Now it is a Italian mushroom. It's ok, but not good. I would not order them again. Not bad but not good. Our waitress had picked the wrong carrier. I'm sure she was not a foodie. The table next to me had asked her what was tiramisu. She didn't know maybe she wasn't there for the tutorial . I helped her explain the dessert. The veal parmigiana sucked. Can red gravy is just nasty. But one ray of sunshine sparked brightly, ah the ROAST BEEF was great. I dined here on November 28th 2015. My father,mother and myself all loyal DiMartino's patrons from the original Terrytown store in Gretna LA really enjoyed the Covington version. We all shared and original full Muffuletta which was top notch as have been consistent with Di Martino's recipes the next best thing to Central Grocery. We topped it all off with coffee which was astoundingly fresh and flavorful. My folks shared the Tirmasu and I had a Cannoli. I highly recommend this Di Martino's if you are ever in Covington. The wait staff was professional and very timely. The restaurant was extremely clean and well managed. Didn't wait at the bar so I can't comment. If I had one criticism. I would ask them to get some local beers in the bar it adds local flavor which is not in short supply in Covington. read more

Tonight was my second time to dine at this restaurant. My first time to dine here was several years ago. I now know why it has been so long since my last visit........a less than desirable dining experience. I am not a fan of forced gratuities. DiMartino's demand a 22% gratuity for a larger party. There were 9 guest in my dining party - 8 adults and 1 child. The food was acceptable at best, but the service was pitiful and not nearly worthy of a forced 22% gratuity. The adults were a quarter of the way through their meals before the child received her spaghetti with sauce plate - UNACCEPTABLE! When Jacob (our server) was asked about the child's plate on 2 different occasions the response was "the kitchen is working on it". We are talking about spaghetti and sauce at an Italian restaurant for crying out loud. No manager ever visited our table (large party of 9 !?!?!) to ask or assess how our dining experience was going or if we needed anything. I do not have a problem with rewarding servers for outstanding service with an appropriate gratuity, but the service that we experienced was anything but outstanding - less than acceptable was more like it. The quality of the food can be easily matched or exceeded at plenty of other local restaurants with a much higher level of table service. I would not recommend DiMartino's in Covington to anyone that expects anything above substandard service. I awarded 2 a 2 star review based on the taste/quality of food. My wife and I arrived to find a person sleeping in one of the booths. After we were seated one guy told the person to get back to the kitchen. When my fried oysters arrived they were overcooked. I guess waking the chef pissed him off. My wife and I eat here once a month and bring guest. The food has always been excellent. This is a tough one. I actually don't have a problem with the food, it's really good. It's the ripping off of customers that I'm against. The prices are already outrageous for the food and when I asked for a side of shrimp they charged me for a full meal shrimp plate. I asked could I please just get a side of shrimp and not be charged for a full meal. I was told no, there was no way to ring it up. I wrote a letter to corporate and asked why I could not get an extra side of shrimp and the response was because of the cost of shrimp and the cost to batter and fry them that charging 12 dollars for 6 shrimp was acceptable. After reading the letter, I concluded that I could by a pound of shrimp for 6 bucks and fry it up myself. I can go to any restaurant that serves fried shrimp in Louisiana and order a side of shrimp they charge you 4-5 bucks and you get a handful of shrimp. So my review is based solely on the high cost of their food but mainly on the fact that they rip you off for ordering a side of something. read more

The food was good but not exceptional. The waitress spoke so softly we couldn't hear her. We waited extremely too long once we ordered and the waitress would never come back to check our drinks. The restaurant was not full or very busy. The food was not worth what our bill was. Gumbo was very good! May come back and try lunch but will probably not return for dinner. read more

The Eggplant Parmesan is the BEST in town! Their food is so under rated. It is one of the Best places to eat on the Northshore!

First time eating here very nice atmosphere staff is friendly had the roast beef po boy very good I would recommend eating here
