The pump touch screens, electronics, and pay-by-phone devices work most of the time without problems. The nicest thing about RaceTrac is the coffee! They have machines that grind on demand and so the coffee is always fresh. There are several different flavors/varieties and all are pretty good (even the decaf is decent). The store is clean and well kept. The bathrooms are better than average as convenience store restrooms go. If you go to RaceTrac regularly, download their app and sign up for the Rewards program. One of the people who got a po-boy said it wasn't regular mayo on the po-boy, but rather either tahini or tzatziki. Now mind you, this isn't necessarily a bad thing, but could be jarring for someone not expecting it. The falafel and baklava were mine. I thought that the falafel wrap was good: flavorful and saucy. It was a bit messy, but I seem to always make a mess when eating falafel sandwiches. I was excited about the baklava, but unfortunately it wasn't very good. Maybe it had been sitting for a while, I don't know, but the flaky pastry had lost some of its flakiness/crispiness and had become a bit chewy instead. One odd thing is that you get your food bagged at the checkout counter, which is separate from the food counter. Last year I estimate that I drove around 45,000 miles total in my work and personal cars. That means that I stop for gas a lot. These frequent stops mean that I get to experience all the good and bad stations and share those experiences with you. So hooray for that. This station is located off of the Oak Harbor exit from I-10. It is much easier to get to if you're headed from New Orleans. Entering is relatively easy, and there are pumps a plenty. Getting back on the interstate is also easy. In fact, This is probably the best exit to take if you need gas. All nearby exits are a pain in the hindquarters. Inside there is a Subway and a fairly well stocked convenience store. It's clean and the cashiers are friendly. There is frequently a line to check out during peak times. So all these positives but still three stars? Yep. The bathrooms here are pretty nasty. Yes they have soap and usually have towels. But everything else is all janky. The floors perpetually have a wet look that doesn't appear to come from mopping. The trash can is always full and the whole place has the feel of a bar room bathroom. Despite the bathroom jankiness, I will continue to stop here since it's super convenient.

It gets busy and the pumps and parking fill up at peak times but it turns over quickly so you never have to wait too long. Being so near to I-10 there are often some vagrants and panhandlers around but they have never been aggressive or scary. The staff are quick and efficient so the check-out line moves quickly. They have new Self-Checkout machines that seem to work well. The gas pumps are clean and in good working order. The pump touch screens, electronics, and pay-by-phone devices work most of the time without problems. The nicest thing about RaceTrac is the coffee!
