My wife and I have enjoyed lunch several times at DiMartino's in Covington, but tonight we did dinner. DiMartino's takes on an enhanced elegant ambiance in the evening and the menu reflects this. Service was very good as always. My wife enjoyed her favorite lasagna, which was quite good as usual. I had the salmon with vinaigrette glaze and it was quite good as well. It's easy to get salmon too done, but no such problem here. Succulent and tasty, just as it should be, with the glaze adding just the right zesty edge. The house Pinot Grigio was excellent with the fish. I also had a very good Caesar salad that complimented the fish and the broccoli side. In this case, the broccoli was somewhat tough with a slightly overpowering parmesan covering. Perhaps a little more butter and a little less cheese would be better? On the whole, dinner was great and we highly recommend DiMartino's for both lunch and dinner. read more

Just spent $100 for trout and red fish. Very fishy taste. Told the Waitress and she said "I am so sorry you were not happy. She said . We had other complaints about the fish". Why didn't she tell us this when we were ordering it. She gave us our check.. we paid the bill. We suggested maybe she should tell her manager... who is was/NEVER around and didn't come to our table!!! Won't be back. Ripped off!!! Where's the management for this restaurant?! Went with my wife on Friday - she was starving, but it was kind of early for me. She was craving a steak, and, knowing her aversion to any visible fat, I suggested the filet, which I finally talked her into despite the cost. I had been in a parmigiana mood for a few weeks and went with their veal version.... My wife LOVED her steak, she had a stuffed baked potato along with it and I didn't get to taste it but it looked very well put together. My Veal was lukewarm and in pieces - battered, pan-fried, and perched up on the overcooked capellini and drowned in a tasteless (Sysco?) marinara with unremarkable semi-molten mozzarella. Service was slow and unattractive. The food was worse, I had the worst spaghetti and meatball I have ever tasted. The red sauce tasted like tomatoe soup. Poor management. Complain about music choice and loudest. She didn't offer to Change the music for the customers. She kept questioning us why we didn't like the music. When we told her, we just think the music sucks and she kept on questioning us why. The music should match the ambience of the Restaurent not a hip-hop. BTW. Stopped here for the first time. Had their redfish with side salad and gumbo. Not overly busy with great service. House wine was very good. Fish and gumbo were very good but plating could be improved. I'll be back but will probably try one of their Italian dishes. read more

Very appointment in my order from DiMartino's. First of all I grew up eating DiMartino's at their original location. Matter of fact we would visit with the owner Mr Pete when we went in for lunch. I love the roast beef, grilled chicken salad, spaghetti & meatballs, eggplant sticks, onion rings and the list goes on. Now, that I have established that I am a regular at the establishment here is my review for tonight. We ordered from door dash. We ordered roast beef poboy, shrimp poboy, onion rings & spaghetti & meatballs. The bill was right at $100. We received the order and the poboys were not dressed (as stated in the description). Wow, all I can say is a plain sandwich is just that very PLAIN! We were very disappointed so I called the restaurant & was told that I should have called them after placing my order & requested that the sandwiches dressed. How stupid is that!! Why would I call & request the sandwiches dressed. It states that they are dressed. I honestly feel that they should have send me new sandwiches but nothing was offered for their mistake. I know that the Terrytown location would have fixed my ordered. Very disappointed in my experience at the Covington location. Some might say "how hard would it be to dress your own sandwiches & I would have done that had I had lettuce & tomato in the house, but I didn't have any on hand. Everything was excellent, including our server, Jami. Since it was Monday, hubby ordered red beans & rice with smoked sausage (great flavor) and I decided on the roast beef po-boy combo which comes with a cup of gumbo and potato salad, all very delicious. DiMartino's USED to have the best muffuletta in Covington, but please don't waste your time or money on the muffuletta today. The muffuletta is absolutely horrible, not warmed or toasted. They've gotten so skimpy with the olive salad it's a shame and the meat on the sandwich is at least a third less. I told the manager who was barely in her 20's about my experience, no apology or offer to correct or remake my muffuletta. I WILL NEVER GET A MUFFULETTA AGAIN from DiMarino's in Covington. I emailed the Covington restaurant twice, no response. Then I contacted the DiMartino's in Terrytown(the first restaurant) on the Westbank, told the lady manager my experience and she took all information because she said someone will be contacting me. NOT ONE PERSON REACHED OUT TO ME. But the DiMartino'so in Terrytown and Algeirs offers the large muffuletta for $25.99 verses the 45% size offered in Covington for $14.50. The muffuletta in Covington is no value for the money spent. So do yourself a favor skip the Covington DiMartino's and if your in Algiers orTerrytown try their muffulettas. I used to love this place. I keep trying, but it's just not the same. They seem to be cutting back on everything, and the prices are high. This time, the cup of gumbo wasn't good. The two shrimp in it were undercooked, and it had huge pieces of undercooked okra in it. Ordered a large sweet potato fries. They were cold, and the portion was pitiful for about $6. The Veal Parmesan dinner was very mediocre -- small, thick pieces of veal were not too tender with an extra small portion of pasta underneath. The tomato sauce was fairly tasteless. I'm not a big eater, but I had no trouble at all eating this portion. The Chicken Parmesan dinner only came with one chicken breast. I usually enjoy their Ceasar salad, but this time there was hardly any Parmesan cheese on it. It makes all the difference in the world. The muffaletta was REALLY small, sparse, and not very heated. One quarter of it had one huge chunk of pickled cauliflower on it and almost no olive salad. I don't eat cauliflower, so oh well... I'm getting really tired of having this kind of experience here, so I'm not sure when I will be back. Soft drinks are overpriced at $3.50. Be careful if you have a party of 7 or more. They will automatically add a 25% tip, which is outrageous. This is why I NEVER go there with a large group. read more

The food was incredible...the Ribeye just melts in your mouth and cooked to perfection, the loaded baked potato was yummy; the popcorn shrimp, cheeseburger and fries were also yummy. Went in during a traffic jam yesterday. They were short handed but the wait staff had it covered. Heath sat us & got our drink order. We split the shrimp platter, broccoli supreme, Ceasar, and subbed O-rings. All was very good. Hot, well prepared. Although shorthanded in the DR, we had excellent service. Heath was helpful in our dinner choices. The kitchen was clean and on top of things. This is the 2nd time since COVID and they are clean, and careful to take the extra steps necessary to ensure proper sanitation. DiMartino's has come a long way since we ordered on the line at grand opening. They are proving to be consistent in what they do. The Redfish is still large and good. After dining here for years, I'm finally about done with it. I went two times in the last week. The first time, I ordered two muffaletta's and a fried eggplant appetizer to go. There was almost no meat on the muffalettas. The eggplant was pale yellow and undercooked. Went back today. Bowl of gumbo took longer to bring out than anyone else's dinner, and it wasn't hot. $23.50 butterfly shrimp dinner only had 10 shrimp on it, and they were mushy. Sweet potato fries were very soft, greasy, and not very hot. I didn't enjoy my meal whatsoever, and for these prices, I'm not going back. It's too inconsistent. A soft drink is overpriced at $3.50. Even when I get the muffaletta and eat it there, it's usually not heated enough to melt the cheese or crisp up the bread, and almost nothing between the bread. Every time I go now, there are fruit flies or regular flies attacking my food. Today it was a regular fly. I covered my plate with napkins while I was eating. Service was really good today, but I've been disappointed in the food too many times over the past few months. This place has gone from about an 8 out of 10 to a 3 out of 10. The mandatory gratuity for parties of 7 or more, ranging from 22% to 25% (someone else said it was 30% for a party) is outrageous, and I won't do it. Today, I read a comment by someone who said that the owner keeps all of the "to go" tips, and he takes a portion of the regular server tips. Good for him. I'm done. read more

DiMartinos has gone down hill. I was a very frequent customer, eating here 2 to 3 times a week. Today, my meal was disgusting. My order arrived about 2 minutes after the waitress put it in. They rushed the fried shrimp for my Po-Boy causing them to be seriously undercooked. The same thing happened last week with the fried fish. Today's gumbo was not the usual. It was bland, much lighter in color and overly thick for gumbo, not edible. I could go on about the bland tomato sauce and skimpy muffulettas but today was the last. read more

Flavorless and overpriced! Our waiter was nice but gave a clueless impression! Ambiance is nice but the food is extremely overpriced for nothing special AT ALL. $18.99 for a small piece of grilled chicken (probably less than 3oz) that had so much lemon that it was hard to eat, served with lukewarm broccoli that didn't even melt the glob of butter they threw on top with crappy parmesan probably from the green bottle. $12 something for super paper thin over cooked onion rings. $20.45 for Eggplant parm that was sliced so thin that they must get ten meals from one small eggplant and it was greasy with glob of half melted mozzarella (didn't taste like the fresh but the rubbery kind) topped with flavorless marinara over angel hair. It's like they are spreading the food as thin as possible! That's fine but then the price should reflect that. Very disappointing! Central Grocery May have invented the Muffaletta, but DiMartino's has perfected it. Perfect amount of olive salad, olive oil, cheese and meat. Most importantly THE PERFECT THICKNESS AND TEXTURE OF THE BREAD. It wasn't so thick, doughey and chewy that you felt like you could have sliced one side of the bread in half to make the sandwich. We ordered out and picked it up to eat at home. Usually something is lacking when you carry out instead of dining in, but I cannot imagine the food tasting much better than it di3 of us split 2 of them and there was a 1/4 left over. 2 in our group had salads and we all shared tastes of each other's food. The chicken Italiano and fried shrimp salads were enormous and the dressing was fresh and deliciously balanced. Had a most wonderful dinner tonight with the family and the foo, service and ambiance couldn't have been better. This is way more than the po-boy and muffuletta stop. Grilled redfish, trout, salmon and full service bar in addition to all the wonderful sandwiches, fried seafood and other items I would have expected. DiMartino's is one of those fall back restaurants. The type of place where you and your wife/girlfriend are in the car and you ask her "where do you want to eat? and she says "I don't care" and after you suggest 10 place that she rejects, you end up here. Why? Because it's comfortable, it's familiar and the food is solid. DiMartino's is a local chain that specializes in Muffulettas but has seafood platters, poboys, gumbo, burgers, pasta and other neighborhood type dishes. I had half a muffuletta and the sweet potato fries. The muffuletta is solid with a decent amount of olive salad(The olive salad makes a muffuletta) and the fries were perfectly crisp fluffy pillows. The service is good and the prices were reasonable. The next time the ladyfriend and I are driving around on the Northshore and she says "I don't care where we eat" I'm not making suggestions, I'm just driving here. read more
