Considering myself a dim sum aficionado, I was hoping this place would turn out good. Service and cleanliness were great, no complaints. Unfortunately, the food left me with a horrible taste in my mouth, literally and figuratively. Of the five different types of dim sum ordered, I can honestly say that I only enjoyed style. There are some outdoor benches (two to be exact) outside this little restaurant if you want to eat there. Some recommendations on what and what not to order: -Shrimp dumplings (ha gao). Classic staple at a dim sum restaurant that you must order. Great texture, flavor, and portions. -Pork dumplings (siu mai). Another staple that is prepared exceptionally well. Try it with soy sauce and the hot oil sauce. -Sticky rice (chicken). Excellent portions and the texture is just perfect. Here are some items to avoid: -Shrimp noodle (ha fen). Texture is not that great, but the shrimp portions are good. -The $9.99 duck. Portion was extremely bare. Flavoring was excellent, but was expecting more than just four small pieces for the duck. The young lady at the front was really nice. The man, however, came up to me twice and asked me if I was ready to order even after he told me to take my time. Did not like his attitude or the pressure to order. The honey walnut shrimp has lemon in it or something and the cream cheese crab wonton things taste like they have mayonnaise in them or something or some other kind of sauce. I did not like my food and the waitress went to see if something could be done and nothing could be done so I paid for my food. Dim Sun was tasty. Based on the reviews, I had higher expectations. There were photos of the menu items in the window, and TVs in the dining room. There were 4 of us (my children and I) and not all the forks matched. The lotus wrapped sticky rice was delicious - first time trying it. Would recommend. My son liked the Har Gao. read more

I can't believe I've frequently visited the area for so long and never tasted the delicious food offered here. I'm in awe at the authenticity of this restaurant. As someone who has had dim sum in Hong Kong and has dreamt about it every day since, I was taken back at how accurate and authentic this dim sum was. I will definitely be back to try other popular dishes! I recommend going with a friend so you can split the dishes. Prices are very reasonable and it's about $40 for a party of two. This is not authentic dim sum. This place gives me very much fast food Chinese place vibes. They add a 15% fee on your order. I regret paying $70 for something that taste like Panda Express. On a drive back from central coast, we craved some Chinese comfort food. Now, it's a bit tough to get that in the middle of the state, but there are places here and there. We ended up here and got a large table to ourselves. The place looks like it's from the 90s, a bit grimy, a bit old, but not unlike some places in SF Chinatown. We went for simplicity -- congee, spicy dumplings, and vegetables, and found the food solid. The congee was decently done, Cantonese-style, but there wasn't enough umami. The vegetables (kai lan with oyster sauce) were actually spot on, and very similar to the stuff I would get in Hong Kong! I was quite impressed with how fresh the veggies were. The spicy dumplings, unfortunately, were a mistake. Never get spicy stuff at a Cantonese place... Overall it's a decent Chinese place with more authentic offerings in a small town where I expected more American Chinese food. It's a decent choice if you are in town, or just driving by. The portions are huge though, so think twice before you order up, unless you plan to take the food home! read more

There's no dimsum option in the South County area unless you want to head into San Jose (where it is overcrowded majority of the time). So my family decided to venture down south a little. Overall, the dimsum was okay. We ordered the traditional items like shrimp dumplings, shu mai, and beef rice rolls. The items were temperature hot, but I was disappointed with the rice rolls - it was not the same. I think next time, we will just head to San Jose and not be adventurous. read more

I can't speak to specific styles of Chinese cooking but I can tell you I ordered half the menu and didn't find a single thing I didn't like. We pass through Salinas on our way to Santa Cruz. There is no Dim Sum in Northern New Mexico, where we live, so we try to time our trip to eat here. You order from a menu, so everything arrives piping hot. We love dumplings, and the ones here don't disappoint. The dough is thin and light, and the fillings are more than ample. The Chinese broccoli was perfectly undercooked, so as to have a snap when you bite into it. We ordered way too much. We decided the broccoli and the won-ton soup would reheat the best, then we gobbled up everything else. I ordered too many fried things...my wife prefers steamed. But that didn't stop her from loving the chive-shrimp dumpling, or the shrimp balls. You can find better Dim Sum in San Francisco, but you'll pay more to park in Chinatown than you'll spend on a meal here. read more

I am really disappointed and upset with this restaurant. I spent $47.00 on 10/2/2022 dim sum that was undercooked and the shrimp balls had plastic in it. I cannot believe that I almost swallowed that! Could you imagine if I did ingested the shrimp balls with plastic inside?! I could've choked!! Also, the turnip cake was too chewy. The har gow (shrimp dumplings) tasted terrible. I wasted my money here. I threw all the food away because I was afraid to eat it. Did a nice three day weekend recently and visited Monterey. Our hotel was in Salinas and we wanted to get some familiar food for a morning brunch. Came across this restaurant through a dim sum search and saw the great reviews. We were a little skeptical, especially being in a city where there are only a few Asian restaurants. Not like where we are from, oakland/San Francisco bay area Where we can get authentic Chinese food at any of the two huge china town's. When we arrived, we were pretty amazed at the huge pictures of plates/dim sum varieties displayed on their outdoor windows as well as the very detailed menus. We were greeted almost immediately and seated just around the wall from the front counter and realize how huge this restaurant in us! We ordered the very typical and popular items such pork dumplings sio mai , har goi shrimp dumplings and sesame balls etc. we were pretty stoked to see tthag they actually served bao and had a variety Of meats such as chicken, pork, beef and duck! They also had vegetarian for those who were on a plant-based diet. We ordered two of the dark and two of the pork. Everything arrived within 10 minutes one after the other and it was truly amazing! No complaints at all and our favorite was definitely the bao!!! Omg!!! I was also cool to see that they offered them some lunch plate specials! I've never seen this before that it was a pretty cool idea. They include an order of a popular dish such as the pork dumpling, and egg roll and some rice etc. I took a picture of the offerings and posted it Definitely worth it if you are visiting the area or just checking for a authentic Chinese restaurant that serves everything from your typical à la cart items, dim sum and even desserts.
