Awesome Dim Sum for Salinas!! A little pricey for small portions but definitely worth ever morsel. Most quality dim sum places charge the same. The place is very spacious and clean and the hot tea tastes good as well. Not just bland hot water with a reused teabag. My bf and I ordered the pork buns, shrimp dim sum, pork dim sum, sesame balls, and veggie wonton soup and hot tea. At the end one of the waiters brought us a warm bun filled an egg custard. Everything tasted so good!!!! Will definitely support local business again. read more

I just found out about this place and remembered the delicious chinese restaurant that used to be in this spot years ago. We decided to give it a try and it is really really good. They have a cool ordering system where you write on the menu the amount of each dim sum you want. The service was good and they brought out each dim sum 1 and 2 at a time so it was a consistent flow of food. The BBQ Pork Buns are the best!! read more

I've been looking for a new Chinese restaurant in Salinas. I would go to noodle house before but they aren't as good as they use to be. Tonight I got broccoli chicken and wonton soup. It was ready in the time I was told it would be. I found it a bit pricey compared to other places. I paid $21 for both. The broccoli chicken looked really good by tasted blah. It lacked flavor. The broccoli tasted fresh, I'll give them that, but that's it. The wonton soup also looked great but it also lacked flavor. The wonton filling was undercooked and was tough. I am actually annoyed that I paid that much and it really wasn't good. I'll keep looking for another Chinese restaurant. read more

Excellent dim sum! Service was wonderful, and they have lunch and dinner pricing. Dim sum is $5.50 each at lunch, and $6.50 at dinner, which is fair. They offer a dinner menu as well, and other specialties. The portions were nice sized, and only having the two dim sum plates I picked (bbq pork buns, and the shrimp and pork dumplings), I'm rather full!! Beautiful interior, and very friendly staff. The culinary world in Salinas is slowly expanding! I've twice sampled the dim sum. You can tell it is made on the spot, not trucked in from The City. One of my favorites is the lotus leaf wrapped sticky rice filled with some meat or mushrooms. The first one I had the rice was kind of dry. But the second time around the consistency was what it should be. I would want to keep going back and try their other dim sum dishes. But stuffed jalapeños? Not dim sum by any means!!! Egg yolk bun--found it sweet, more like a dessert Shanghai style pork dumpling--too salty for my taste, arrived not hot! Melon sesame ball--dessert, sweet but not too sweet. Lots of filling Vegetable dumpling--tasty Chicken egg custard--dessert, very good BBQ pork bun--very good Sticky rice in lotus leaf--second batch not disappointing unlike the first The tea served was disappointingly not hot! Some of the dishes such as the buns arrived a little bit warm which was a shock! Kind of got the impression that it was not recently made but simply warmed over. Like Japanese food, dim sum dishes do not taste that good if the temperature is not what it should be. read more

The dim sum is quite excellent and fresh, ordered from a menu versus cart service. I see people below complaining about the prices and I agree they're a bit higher than SJ/SF prices, however, a dim sum restaurant that hand makes and prepares it's fillings is somewhat rare these days and you can taste the quality and freshness of every bite. No mystery meat fillings, only fresh and identifiable ingredients. The chicken teriyaki was gross, but likely my error for ordering it as z compliment to a fine, fresh, piping hot Dim Sum experience. I drove from Santa Cruz for it and likely would consider again as an alternative to driving over the hill. read more

All the food plates are reasonable price but the Dim Sum and the soups are way over priced. 3 piece har gow for 6 bucks, no thank you. We frequently ate here for good Chinese food,but tonight was really bad! We can hear the Chef arguing in the kitchen and we waited 45min to an hour after we ordered our dinner and eventually walked out of there. Very bad experience!! They lost our business for good! read more

FOOD ON REGULAR MENU SUCKS. Only good thing in my opinion were steamed plain buns, shrimp balls and steamed pork bun. The steamed rice is terrible here. Very good selection of dim sum and other dishes. This place is one of my new favorites. Very nice dining area and the service was good. The dim sum is made in the restaurant and not brought in frozen from a supplier. You may ask for chili oil if you like to spice up your soy sauce. Try the melon sesame balls and other sweet dim sum dishes. I am so glad that there is an excellent dim sum restaurant in Monterey County! Unlike the other dim sum restaurants north of here, it is not complicated to get into. Plenty of seating area for big parties and the food is so good! I will definitely be coming back! read more

The food here is delicious. The reason I only gave it two stars is because of the service. My family went to try it because of reviews and our friends telling us how good it was. So we decided to try it. The hostess sat us and asked us if we were ready. We had just sat down. We asked him to come back. He came back a little bit later and asked if we were ready. We started to order the he ended up just walking away in the middle of us ordering. Then a girl came, she took our order but wasn't sure in the menu. Like I said, the food was delicious. My husband ordered the Mongolian lamb, but it looked like beef. The soups were delicious!! No one came to check on us or refill our drinks. We had to keep waving staff down to ask for items. We went a few times when it opened. I am from the Bay Area and ate dim sum regularly so maybe my standards are too high but it's not the best I've had maybe even the worst. Very sub standard. And in the City you can feast on fresh wonderful dim sum and rarely pay more than 40 dollars as the items are priced accordingly to their value you can't charge one price for all items. And this is way over priced. I will wait to go to SF to feast on fresh dim sum again. read more

What a great place. The inside is very clean and nicely decorated. The staff is helpful and kind. The Dim Sum menu has a lot of options and everything is reasonably priced. I am very careful when it comes to Dim Sum. As a young girl, I ate dim sum at an amazing restaurant out of town and as years went by I found a lot of Dim Sum did not satisfy me. So after I heard this opened I hesitated quite a bit, but thanks to Yelp I gave it a shot. I am happy I did. I brought a friend a long who is kind of picky, never had Dim Sum and he loved the food. We had Mongolian lamb off a Yelp recommendation, pork fried rice, Shanghai style pork dumplings (soupy), shrimp dumplings, bbq beef pork bun, and an egg Mochi for a little sweetness to end the meal. Not only was the meat delicious and seasoned well, the buns were fresh and steamy. The dumplings also were cooked without being burnt or too mushy. I was happy at how evenly cooked each dim sum dish was and there were no surprises. I also like that nothing was shockingly sweet or overly salty. read more

I've always heard mixed opinions about this place so I decided to check it out myself. Service wasn't bad. Greeted as soon as we walked in. I think it's cool how they give you a marker to check and circle which entree and appetizers you want on the menu. We got the lunch specials, and honestly, I lowkey wish it came with more food lol but the food wasn't bad! Try the jalapeños stuffed with chicken and shrimp. Make sure to get chow mein as well! Super clean and nice. Same owners as Eagle in south salinas and love their food. The dim sum is good then all the other items on regular menu similar to Eagle. Their fried rice is my favorite. It is so fresh and non-oily like some other places. Nice servers, too. read more
