Overall: Left very disappointed with the food here. Lacked flavor, came out cold, and cooked to the point where I couldn't chew it. Food: Was pretty disappointed with the food here. The food that we got came out room temperature to cold. Lacked a lot of flavor and were cooked to a point where the food was so chewy that I couldn't even break it down. Service: The service here is pretty fast. We came at a not too busy time. Ambiance: This is a casual sit-down place. Lots of indoor seating.

Was not expecting Dim Sum House to be is good as it was. A very modern restaurant with attentive staff. My only issue was that I came to find out they had a different menu that I had to ask about after my dinner. I asked why was I not offer that when I came in and was told I did not look like I liked spicy food. Nevertheless the dim sum menu offered not only dim sum but different dishes as well. Everything was served hot and tasted great. I will for sure go back and try the different menu next time.

TL;DR When a restaurant has a 3.0 score on Yelp, believe the reviewers and go somewhere else. Came for weekend dim sum because they have traditional cart service here. What they don't tell you is the carts sit in the middle of the dining room with the food getting cold, and when you order it they take it into the kitchen to reheat it. When I told my server I wanted "fresh hot dim sum" he told me it was all fresh because it had been made today lol. The food might have been ok when it was hot but this whole meal was a disappointment.

I love the eggplant and crispy fish the most! My husband enjoys everything, and overall the dishes are flavorful with just the right level of spice. There are plenty of choices for guests, and the customer service is excellent--perfect for parties and family gatherings. Parking is free and easy, which makes the experience even better. I do recommend try this authentic sezchuan style food for sure! Will come again! :)

First time ordered the stuffed eggplant without the stuffed???

I heard that they changed the new owner. I want to come to try again. There is still no change. The dim sum is cold, the clams are not fresh, and the table is very sticky. And the price is expensive.I will never come back!

Decent dimsum close to where I live. They have most of the essentials. The buns are pretty good, the turnip cakes were a little plain, the fried taro was kept in the fridge for too long; you could taste that it wasn't fresh. My boyfriend's dad had the Mongolian beef, which was very tasty. My boyfriend had the mango chicken, which was both sweet and savory. Both entrees were relatively high quality. Service was okay. They brought us forks for my dining partners, but the first two brought over were extremely dirty. After I told them I wasn't going to eat the fried taro, they went ahead and remade it without extra cost. I was pleasantly surprised that they did, which is why I'm going for four stars. The ambiance is only okay as well. I do worry for this business though.

If you like Chinese food, you can try it. It's delicious. It's very different from what I've eaten before.

Great dim sum spot. The dumplings were soft and packed with delicious fillings, and the spring rolls were crispy and flavorful. The dipping sauces complemented everything really well. The restaurant was clean, and the service was fast and friendly.

Definitely isn't going to ever be considered for best dim sum in US, but is it the best dim sum in NC? That remains to be seen. We came for Saturday lunch. About half the restaurant was filled, so the ambiance was a bit relaxed. Service isn't bad at all. Did not have to wait for anything they just came right up with the carts. Your average price is probably around 30$ per person so it's on the pricier side. Food is decent. If authentic dim sum is an A then I'd give this dim sum a B, maybe B-. I don't often crave dim sum but I wouldn't mind coming here once, maybe twice a year to satisfy my cravings.

Amazing dim sum! I loved everything from the staff, service, and the food. Hong Kong style. This is NOT a preppy place w/ a Michelin Chef , this is real authentic dim sum. If you want anything more authentic, go over seas. Do not bash this place because you think you have a 5 star palette. Family owned AND great price.

I can finally cross Dim Sum off my bucket list. Since relocating from Queens New York I have been struggling with finding quality Asian cuisine in North Carolina. Today after traveling back in town with my 10 year old, we were famished and decided to have Dim Sum after 1:30 p.m. When we arrived we practically had the dining room to ourselves. Service was excellent. When the first cart rolled out our server was kind enough to explain the dim sum experience, menu offerings and suggestions. I had the barbecue pork baos, chive and shrimp dumplings, fried jalapeño calamari, Sticky Rice & pork, crispy mini shrimp rolls, jasmine flower tea and my favorite egg tarts ! My daughter enjoyed all the dumplings, sticky rice & pork. She cleaned her plate. When we arrived it was after the brunch rush. I was warned some items may not still be available, fortunately we ordered everything we wanted. All the food was fresh and flavorful. Seating is plentiful here and service was excellent.

Our go-to dim sum spot near Chapel Hill!…read more This is a wonderful family-run restaurant that blends modern simplicity with traditional charm. The staff are incredibly friendly and hardworking, and the atmosphere feels both welcoming and authentic. All items are affordable and with reasonable prices! It's the only legit dim sum place near Chapel Hill/Carrboro, about a 25-minute drive for us--and we gladly make the trip almost every week. We simply can't get enough of their food! Warning: Everything on their menu is dangerously addictive. You've been warned! Our Favorites 2. Pork Dumpling (Siu Mai / Siomai) -- Steamed pork in a wonton wrapper, perfectly juicy with just the right balance of pork and vegetables in every bite. A delicious classic done right. 6. Beef Onion Dumpling in Chili Sauce -- One of the best dumplings we've had--and we've been to dim sum spots all over the world! The beef is flavorful and juicy, wrapped in a thin, perfectly chewy skin. The chili sauce complements the filling beautifully without overpowering it. Generous portion, amazing value, flawless execution. 9. Steamed BBQ Pork Bun -- Soft, fluffy buns filled with mildly sweet BBQ pork. Comforting, classic, and delicious every time. 11. Egg Yolk Bun -- Lightly sweet custard filling inside soft steamed buns. The perfect bite of dessert to end your dim sum feast. 16. Bean Skin Stuffed with Pork -- Juicy, lightly seasoned pork wrapped in delicate bean skin. Flavorful but not overpowering--simple and satisfying. 27. Crispy Shrimp Ball -- Juicy and lightly seasoned shrimp goodness inside a crispy ball. They disappeared into the void of my stomach as soon as they touched our table. 28. Crispy Taro Puff with Chicken -- Think of these as bite-sized empanadas with savory, well-seasoned chicken inside--like the best mini chicken pot pies! Crispy, flavorful, and completely addictive. I could easily eat 30 of these! 41. Crispy Beef Onion Pot Sticker -- Pan-fried to golden perfection for that satisfying crunch. The beef and chives inside are juicy and flavorful, and the portions are generous. I dream about these dumplings when I'm asleep. Absolute perfection. Take all my money! The Finishing Touch Dim sum is meant to be enjoyed with tea, and they offer a simple traditional brew that pairs beautifully with every dish. If there's one downside--it's that they're only open Friday through Sunday. We wish they were open all week! Everything on their menu is so good! Best Dimsum and service in Durham!

I've had the pleasure of eating some really good dim sum, and while I can admit that the dim sum here will never be as good as places in New York, I can say that they do a decent job and that the experience will be enjoyable for any eater. Rather than delivering dishes on the traditional cart, Dim Sum Asian Bistro uses a menu where you can mark off the dishes that you want. There are a lot of different steamed, fried, and a la carte options that you can choose from. A lot of the basics are done pretty well. They have good pan fried dumplings, shrimp dumplings, shao mai, and coconut pudding. They also have some other, complex dishes that we really enjoy. Their curry powder turnip cake is some of the best out there. The curry flavor pops and the fry is absolutely perfect. Crispy on the outside, but warm and soft on the inside. They also make their chicken feet really well, which is a tough one to do sometimes. I know that there will be some good options. Although Dim Sum Asian Bistro has some good things, they also serve some things that you would just be better off not ordering. They have three different types of rice crepe dishes with meat. Their best is easily the shrimp, and you should stick to that. In fact, I would avoid the beef version at all costs, it is made with a beef paste and the texture was so strange, it was kind of unappetizing! I also think their fried rice could use some work, and I think some items, like their custard buns, could have come from the frozen section. I think my family can be pretty critical about dim sum since it has been a big part of our personal culture. However, sometimes I feel I need to take a step back and look at it broadly. I've come here with some of my friends who don't eat dim sum consistently and they are always wowed by the experience. From that perspective, I can see how this place hits the mark. They serve pretty authentic food and make it taste good. There is always a buzz about the restaurant and people come and go over the weekend. It's no wonder you might have to wait to get a table, Dim Sum Asian Bistro is definitely doing something right!
