Spare ribs in black bean sauce, stir fried udon noodles, Chinese broccoli, sui mai, eggplant stuffed with shrimp and sesame balls were all delicious! I love chicken feet but these were not good. It had a weird aftertaste and not as tender. The beef stew was okay but I wouldn't get it again. Soup dumplings were dry. Gyozas were not crispy. There's a bit of a language barrier with the servers. I asked for no onions/scallions in the fried rice or stir fry udon. Upon checking my receipt, it was marked "no veg" and when I asked my server she said "it's just easier to say no veg." I told her we would've liked the carrots and bean sprouts, just no onions/scallions. The conversation was a fail so I gave up. The fried rice lacked color but had nice flavor. Ambiance is great. Overall, pleasant experience on a Saturday during lunch time. They pushed dim sum carts and there were many options both steamed and fried. I liked that they had a menu with pictures if you needed it and that they also came by and named all the items. This is helpful especially for people enjoying dim sum for the first time. This made me believe the waitresses were rather attentive and welcoming to first time guests. When we selected our dim sum they made sure to cut it so that it was easy to share and they also reheated items so they were hotter if they came off the fried cart even without us asking. They also refilled our water several times and checked on us. The restaurant is spacious and has a lot of room outside for parking making it an easier place to bring more people for dim sum compared to other dim sum options in the Triangle area. While I believe the service and the restaurant interior/exterior made the restaurant a great candidate for future visits I do want to note that the dim sum did not seem traditionally Cantonese or up to dim sum standard. There were some dim sum items that I've never seen served in Hong Kong or at traditional dim sum restaurants. Out of the four items I ordered, not all of them were excellent either. Particularly the soup dumplings did not really have soup in them. That being said they still offer the classics like shrimp dumplings, siu mai, and others on the menu but I will have to go back and try them since I ordered other items this visit. Was not expecting Dim Sum House to be is good as it was. A very modern restaurant with attentive staff. My only issue was that I came to find out they had a different menu that I had to ask about after my dinner. I asked why was I not offer that when I came in and was told I did not look like I liked spicy food. Nevertheless the dim sum menu offered not only dim sum but different dishes as well. What they don't tell you is the carts sit in the middle of the dining room with the food getting cold, and when you order it they take it into the kitchen to reheat it. When I told my server I wanted "fresh hot dim sum" he told me it was all fresh because it had been made today lol. So sorry to come here after so many years and receive a bad experience. I've enjoyed the upgrade in decor, dim sum pricing value and excellent selection, presentation and food quality. Congee is a rare dish to find in Raleigh and I've been coming here for it exclusively for several years. The problem? condiments - as a creature of habit in this situation, the hot chinese mustard (usually found in togo packets) is hand made here - I've always found this to be a nice touch. Last night - there was much communication breakdown at first as to what I was asking for. At one point siracha mayo was brought out. So maybe a combination of lost in translation and new staff was the problem, but after 4 trips to the kitchen and asking other servers, someone would have had a clue about MUSTARD!! Finally,I've given up on it, as the soup is getting cold and the server comes back again with an "chef who makes it was out - so no one else can do it" excuse. And to make matters worse, the server kept repeating herself over and over. Yep, the soup is definitely cold now! I'm no pro in a chinese kitchen, but this item starts with a mustard powder and some water...like wasabi paste - maybe the "chef" makes some personal choice additions, but in a pinch - I would have appreciated an attempt at the basic product. Example; the shu mei have gone from 4 to 3 and what really caught my attention was the Chicken feet, 99% of Dim Sum restaurants will serve 4 feet but today I was served one and a half feet cut length wise. it's really too bad as they were tasty. I believe the restaurant is under new management now and it's called "Hot and Spicy." It's by far the best Sichuanese food I've had in the RTP area. We ordered fuqi feipian, water-boiled fish, laziji (the spicy dry chicken thing), and dry pot cauliflower. All were so good! We also got soup dumplings and shrimp egg rolls mostly for my son, and they were also delicious as well. Decent dimsum close to where I live. They have most of the essentials. The buns are pretty good, the turnip cakes were a little plain, the fried taro was kept in the fridge for too long; you could taste that it wasn't fresh. My boyfriend's dad had the Mongolian beef, which was very tasty. My boyfriend had the mango chicken, which was both sweet and savory. Both entrees were relatively high quality. Service was okay. They brought us forks for my dining partners, but the first two brought over were extremely dirty. After I told them I wasn't going to eat the fried taro, they went ahead and remade it without extra cost. I was pleasantly surprised that they did, which is why I'm going for four stars. We were greeted by a kind man with a cart and he described many of the plates and then also told us to not buy certain dishes on his cart because it wasn't good. I appreciate his honesty but that was kind of a weird thing to tell a customer. Then, a woman came by and listed everything on the cart as fast as she could when I asked what a certain item was she replied "I already told you." I'm writing this review and hopes that the owners or management see this to make some necessary changes. The good news is that we went there for Dim Sum on a Saturday morning and the food was excellent and so were the options. I did not check my bill although reading previous post maybe I should have to make sure I was charged properly it seems about right but could have been off, but that's not major concern right now. The main issues, and I believe these could be corrected in a weekend, is that the place is filthy. I feel fine right now so I hope that is only in the dining room and bathroom and not the kitchen. 1. Bathroom - mens room is gross. The wall separating the toilet from the urinal is, on the urinal side, rusted and bubbled. Clearly from the location this is from being pissed on for years. Replace it. The rest of the bathroom could use some deep cleaning. 2. The light fixtures hanging down over the restaurant I have clearly never been cleaned. You can see the dust all over the top of them. One of them is even broken in half right by the bathrooms, so you can see it's just Jagged glass hanging down. 3. Ceiling vents are caked with dirt. get a ladder and a spray bottle and clean it. I'm pretty sure that all the framed pictures around the restaurant are in the same condition. Furthermore, the ceiling where they meet the wall have excessive and visible from afar dust and webs. 4. The ceiling tiles, many of them are warped or water stained or whatever stain is on it. I'm not going to assume I know what it they're from. 5. The wall next to where we were sitting clearly had some repairs done to it and those repairs were painted over with mismatched paint. There's definitely paint peeled off and missing and some of the repairs like covering drywall screws are in need of re-repair. They might as well repaint all the walls so they're at least one color and fresh. Given the visible and obviously neglected routine cleaning, I would not be surprised if under the tables and chairs were in similar condition and I would not want to touch the floors with my bare hands. Just in case. I really don't want to think about the kitchen condition although that should definitely be priority in any food establishment. I'm giving two stars because of the food alone despite the questionable cleanliness of the kitchen, but missing three stars because of the cleanliness of the dining room and the bathroom. I really like dim sum, I really like the food, and we do not have many options for this in the triangle so I really hope management sees this because this could be an amazing place and a great food option. read more

This is the worst dim sum I've ever had. My family and I showed up on March 29th around 12:00 p.m. for lunch/ dim sum. All the food was cold and definitely left over from a previous day. The servers pushed two carts over to us where we then proceeded to order 10 different items and a pot of hot tea. At checkout I was billed 166$$ including a already added 20% tip. This has been our go to place for dim sum and typical Cantonese food that we grew up with in NYC. The beef ho fun and Singapore fried noodle are some of my personal favorites. Some of the dim sum choices that stand out to me are shrimp and chive dumplings, shrimp and beef rice rolls, salt and pepper squid, stuffed eggplant, chicken feet!Good "wok hei" and the dim sum is well seasoned without sodium abuse. The other perk about this restaurant is the a la carte dim sum on weekdays! The people who run the place are welcoming, courteous and produce great foods. Popped in after work on day after their 5 o'clock reopening. Only a couple tables. My order was taken quickly and food also came out quickly in waves which I didn't mind. I wanted to give my favorites a try and they didn't disappoint. First out (rather quickly I might add) was the bbq pork buns and they were super hot so give em a second if you ever get them. Next out was the fried rice which was good but nothing crazy. Finally the mango chicken and pork and shrimp dumplings. Both hot and fresh. I very much enjoyed the dumplings. It's been a while since I've stopped by here. I came by here for lunch around 11:30 a.m. It wasn't busy at all. I was immediately seated and given a menu. I ordered 4 items off the dim sum menu. I wanted a good 10-minutes before the food came out. The food was fresh and hot! The chicken feet was fall off the bone, probably the best I've had. The flavors were on point. The shumai and Shrimp with chives were ok. The MVP had to be the sticky rice with ground pork. That was amazing! The texture was perfect, not too sticky or hard. The customer service was great! I'd rate Dim Sum House as meh. It's definitely not the best dim sum but given its the only place that offers it in the area, it'll do. I stopped by during the week with a friend and we both were pretty hungry so we ordered several different dishes. Just a heads up, they don't serve their full dim sum menu during the week so it may be better to go on the weekend. Looking at the menu, I was intrigued with the taro roll and pretty excited to try it but it was underwhelming. The inside was filled with taro but it was way too much in relation to the flaky exterior. I wouldn't order it again if I came back. I did however enjoy the bbq pork steam bun and pork pan-fried buns. Both buns were light and airy, as they should be with a tasty filling. I only wish the filling were a bit more moist--it was a little on the dry side. The shrimp dumpling was a bit lackluster. We also ordered some edamame and chicken ginger congee which were decent as well. The congee has a good porridge texture and consistency and had a good ratio of chicken to ginger. It seems that for the area, dim sum house is a staple. But if you're familiar with dim sum or just love good dim sum, you'll likely be disappointed. If you try them out, I'd recommended the pork buns as those were the best out of the bunch I ordered (but not the best I've ever had).
