    Sesame chicken
    Serena D.

I was super excited to try this place because I've heard great things about it! Ordered the sesame chicken, crab rangoons, and pork soup dumplings. The sesame chicken has good flavor, however the chicken itself was a bit tough to bite because it was stringy. The crab rangoons were really good! If you like more savory crab rangoons compared to sweet ones, definitely try this out! The soup dumplings were also pretty good, just a bit doughy. Overall, the staff were very efficient whenever we asked for anything. This spot is also great for bigger parties like families or birthday parties. I would love to try other dishes if I were to come back!

I was so excited for this and omg I was NOT disappointed! The menu was super easy to read and work through, the waitress gave up plenty of time to figure out what we wanted but as soon as we were ready she took our entire order! The food came out at different times which was great since we ordered so many things! The first thing probably came out less than 5 mins after ordering and filtered out slowly. I had no complaints on ANYTHING the pan fried noodles and the pot stickers were probably my favorite but honestly I don't know if I could truly choose one thing. I WILL be back!

Crab Rangoon - unique flavor and look vs what I normally see. Delicious and perfect crispiness.

AMAZING dim sum on the University of Illinois campus! I wish places like this existed when I was a student here. I came here for a recruiting trip for work and we were starving after doing interviews all day. Dim Sum sounded perfect. It's not too filling but gives you variety and so much flavor. The staff here was super friendly and attentive. You can tell they care because they'd be watching from afar if you seem to like it or need anything and come right away! The food was absolutely delicious and so flavorful. Enough so that I forgot to take pictures of everything when it came out because it smelled so amazing. The spices and seasonings were perfect. We ordered shrimp and mixed mushroom dumplings, stir fried flat noodles with pork, Mongolian beef, and crab Rangoon, and it was all perfect. I really like the Mongolian beef. We got chili sauce on the side which added some heat. I also had a Thai coffee and that was refreshing. I will definitely be back for more when I am on campus next!

Bright, clean, cheery atmosphere. Friendly and attentive service. Delicious dumplings. I wasn't a fan of the chicken curry but I was expecting Thai style so now I am aware.. this was more a chicken dish with curry spices. Vibes are Family friendly but also great for a date night.

i've been here several times with friends. it's the perfect spot to try a little bit of everything and split the bill later lol. the soup dumplings are the best and the cucumber salad is a crowd favorite every time!! the vibes in there are very calm and relaxing. the food comes out in a timely manner.

I would like to give a four star since the food that we ordered were delicious as expected, and the dining environment was excellent since it was newly opened. (I went there some weeks ago so I couldn't remember the names of these foods. Sorry about that!) However, we waited for a long time to check our meal. The service might be further improved. Additionally, the price was higher than we expected. I've also heard some bad comments about their food (saying like reheated food or something like that), so I would say the eating experience really depends.

A very clean and comfortable facility. Bright. Nice tables. Good dim sum such as har gow and shu mei (sp?) i could eat here a lot. Nice to have such a place close by. Staff very attentive but wise about not being overbearing. Cucumber salad is spicy but very good

Northern Cuisine is popular with the Asian students because they're most of the people eating in there. Basically it shows it's good enough for them so it's good enough for everyone. The prices are pretty okay for portions. Came in and looked at the menu. It's certainly a big one. There's tons of meaty and plant friendly options to get and they get spicy. Felt like feeling a burn. It's about $15 for an entree which is okay because you get a lot. Also has more authentic options that get even crazier. I got the Mapo Tofu. A great thing is it's not a recipe that uses pork. This is soft tofu with a spicy ass sauce. Could have used a few vegetables in it. This was still pretty good though. Have to say it looking for authentic Chinese to come here. It's located on Green in the middle of the campus bars and restaurants. There's a few things for vegetarians.

The porridge (congee) was 4 out of 10 for me. Lots of corn starch added, though it got thinner as I ate more. The taste seemed like MSG, though I am not sure how much was from the preserved egg. This was less than $10 and a big portion. I would have preferred less volume if it meant less corn starch. Ambiance: Pros for authenticity: the music playing are Chinese artists like JJ Lin. Cons: a bit of a musty smell when I walked in. For context, it had rained all day. I realize I'm not the target market (university student), though the food was disappointing.

I was going to order online but they were all around $22-25. The rice special lunches in store were $9.99 but online is around $15. I actually came because my friend loved to come here a couple years ago and said it was his favorite restaurant on campus. I ordered the pork lunch special. And I was extremely disappointed. As seen in the picture when you open your food, there's just a whole ton of cabbage. I then sifted through it and counted less than 8 pieces of meat. And the bottom of the box was padded with a thick layer of rice. I also ordered a stewed pork bun. It lacked flavor and the meat to bread ratio was extremely off. I assumed because of COVID, prices went up (at least online) and less expensive ingredients were being used(meats) and more cheap materials were used to complete customer orders (rice and veggies). I know many restaurants have done this but my order was just laughably disappointing. Also I came to order on a Sunday afternoon. I was placing my order when the cashier told me that the cook was out and they couldn't make over 50-60% of the menu. That put me off a bit as I was originally going to order two things from the menu but they were both "unavailable". I think there should've been a note in the menu so customers would be notified before they spend 5 minutes looking at the menu to decide. Anyways that was a slight tangent. But another reason I gave this place 2 stars is because the cashier and workers were quite short. They would interrupt you while talking. It's just not the customer service I would expect. The only redeeming factor I believe was that one of few pieces of meat I had actually tasted pretty good. Besides this I do not think I will be back or will be recommending this place to anyone else. If you're craving authentic Chinese food, I believe there are many better options on campus (Northern Cuisine, Lao Sze Chuan, etc.).

But that being said there were a lot of GREAT things about this restaurant so I'll start there. The restaurant itself it's so moody and vibey I LOVED it, was such a good place for a date night, our waiter was so attentive, helped with all of our questions and a very patient with us as we worked through the menu. 10/10 service! We got the dumpling and pork bun appetizer and both were AMAZING, seriously the pork bun?? I could have eaten 1000 of them. Next was the sushi, I got the Atlantic hand roll and another member of the table got the rainbow roll, both were very fresh and flavorful, highly recommend. Next was the entree, I got the pork belly ramen, as a huge ramen fanatic I was SO excited, especially following up our appetizers, the bar was set high and unfortunately I was so disappointed. The broth was not very good and everything so extremely salty, I couldn't even eat the mushrooms in the bowl because they soaked up so much of the broth and it was like a salt bomb in my mouth. The pork belly was cooked well and I did really enjoy that, but for a $20 bowl of ramen, it really fell flat for me. I also got the sweet heat cocktail, and it also wasn't for me, cocktails are so personal so it's not that I wouldn't recommend someone try it, it's just that I didn't hit for me, and that was the general consensus of the table. While I had a great night, I would probably try a different restaurant for Asian food before I came back to this one!
