Vianna Yang has apparently been a staple within the community, with their presence spanning over many decades. While other nearby restaurants serve dense and greasy American food, I can always rely on Vianna Yangs to provide me with some comforting flavors. I really love the owners of the restaurant. I've had a chance to sit and chat about their business, why they moved to Gibson City. I'm now recognized when I walk in! Although the owners were originally from China, their menu is entirely Americanized Chinese food. No problems on my end, I love this food. All options here are affordable and come in very large portions. I think they do a great job with their fried rice and their chicken and shrimp dishes. I even was introduced to the "Dragon and Phoenix", which is a dish that contains both! Everything has a good balance of sweet and savory, and as mentioned previously, portions are huge! I can turn most meals into 2 portions. Overall, this restaurant is a bit old fashioned. The interior decor could use a little work and they only accept cash. However, I think this is all very fitting with the rest of the town! Gibson City itself is pretty old fashioned, Vianna Yangs fits right in.

I brought home leftovers that will last me 2 more meals. The staff were friendly and answered questions about the ingredients. I am very impressed and will be going back often!

Was not expecting such a dynamic menu from a tiny spot in a small town. A good Poke bowl is hard to find so that is what we ordered. I had the Shrimp Lovers Bowl and it was amazing. This is coming from someone who just returned from Hawaii and had eaten alot of Japanese cuisine, including Poke Bowls. We ordered it for carry out, it was ready in 15 minutes and the lady who appeared to be running it all was friendly and made sure I had everything I needed. Northern Cuisine is popular with the Asian students because they're most of the people eating in there. Basically it shows it's good enough for them so it's good enough for everyone. The prices are pretty okay for portions. Came in and looked at the menu. It's certainly a big one. There's tons of meaty and plant friendly options to get and they get spicy. Felt like feeling a burn. It's about $15 for an entree which is okay because you get a lot. Also has more authentic options that get even crazier. I got the Mapo Tofu. A great thing is it's not a recipe that uses pork. This is soft tofu with a spicy ass sauce. Could have used a few vegetables in it. This was still pretty good though. Have to say it looking for authentic Chinese to come here. It's located on Green in the middle of the campus bars and restaurants. There's a few things for vegetarians.

The two dishes we ordered were a bit on the sweet side, which isn't atypical for the dishes themselves, so kind of an error on our part. They had celtuce so we had to order it, it was tender and light and flavorful. The dumplings is good but a bit meat heavy than I would've preferred. Skin is very thin, like wonton skin. The scallions pancakes are perfectly panfried. The Beijing yogurt is not at all correct, it's stickier than I'm used to and not as smooth and flavor is a bit flat than the actual ones. Coconut pudding was unremarkable, doesn't stand out. Overall, the foods were good. We probably could've ordered better.

There were a few people that came and went while we were there and they were helped very quickly, but we were the only ones to sit and eat. It isn't an actual sit down restaurant with service, although it seemed like it used to be. This might be one of those little gems dying out from lack of help or lack of customers. The scallion ginger fish fillet was probably the best, and they give a good chunky pieces of fish that is not breaded, but the way they cooked it. The meat trunks stayed together intact. The flavor is what you expect from traditionally steamed fish with soy sauce pour over at the end. Super pleased with the options.
