Our group rented 3 pontoons for a post-wedding event and had a beautiful day. Departing they told us 4:30 was return time and by 4:15 they were calling we were late. We rushed the boats back, but one had a damaged pontoon that was taking on water. With some pretty experienced boaters that worked ocean boatyards and grew up on boats their entire lives, this was something the marina staff questioned us on. When half the boat was on the verge of being submerged, it was clear something wasn't right. anyway, got back at 4:40, after the miscommunication by the staff and paid the nearly $200 in late fees.
The big issues, however, were when we were coming in and their 5-6 staff were all directing the boats opposite of one another while high winds picked up. They were all yelling different directions and the staff became very rude. it was clear they didn't know what they were doing. With the staff uncoordinated on where to pull the boats in, our experience kicked in and we had to manage the boats independently due to all of the confusion and yelling on the docks. Eventually, when our driver explained while getting off the boat, the reasoning of floating the pontoon from upwind into the dock, the staff member proceeded to tell us all to "go fuck ourselves"
we let it go, paid the late fees, and decided to let it all be a thing of the past and headed to the parking lot. Apparently Mr. Simson, the marina director, wanted to follow us to the parking lot with two of his other staff members and confront us at the car for what we initially thought was going to be an apology for his staff's incompetence at the dock, but he instead proceeded to threaten us and tell us we were lying about how 5 of us on a boat heard his staff tell us to fuck ourselves and also defend his sinking pontoon boat as not needing a deeper look at the boat that was taking on water. He doubled down and told us we were wrong, and then proceeded to say never to come back.
All of this after his own staff were the incompetent ones that misinformed us on the return time for the boats and couldn't clearly direct us into their docks. Director Simson should get reviewed as he can't manage his staff and to actually confront and get in the faces of us in the parking lot was beyond threatening. I haven't experienced such an overwhelming overreaction and lack of professionalism.
Skip the Dillon Marina and use the Frisco one. Unless, of course, you enjoy being followed and threatened by their staff in the parking lot. read more
