We even tumped our kayak over and they rescued us so fast and had towels for us and wanted to refund our money but we didn't want to do that. Beautiful lake. Limited parking so go early. I would say this is beautiful stop for an afternoon walk. Although we didn't observe any water sports in action, this would be a cool spot for it. Well, we have rented pontoon boats before and the staff was friendly and efficient. However for some reason at 2:00 in the afternoon on a warm day in August the marina was CLOSED. Sign on the building indicated it was OPEN, website indicated they were OPEN, phone call indicated they were OPEN, however I needed to leave a voicemail. We wanted a snack/ice cream and possibly bike rental. Frustrating! At least put a sign in the window!!! read more

Enjoyed our time at the lake. Rented paddleboards, canoes and kayaks as well as the pedal bikes. Beautiful location and prices are fair. The pedal bikes are extremely difficult to pedal and they need serious maintenance. All in all, a good experience. read more

If we could give 0 stars for this experience we would. We were having a great time until we turned the key in the ignition (as instructed by the crew prior to take off) and the new key broke off in the ignition- all within in the first 30 min. Upon arriving on shore, the manager accused us of intentionally breaking the boat when we got to shore, verbatim asking us "what did you do to the boat". The crew had mentioned this particular boat was finicky to begin with and this was a brand new key put in as of this morning. We were a group of mostly females celebrating a bachelorette- why would you think we intentionally broke the boat? The situation could have been handled better in SO many ways by management, but not only did we get blamed for the boat, our 2 hour reservation was also cut short and they did not even try offering another vessel to complete the reservation. The manager was more concerned about how he was going to rent the boat out for the rest of the week. We are a group of POCs and honestly if we weren't, we believe the situation would not have approached in this rude & condescending manner. I would 1000% stay away from here if you want to avoid terrible service or experience. read more

I would leave zero if I could. My family and I were there a few weeks ago. The staff was mediocre but decent enough. What really chaps my rear is that somehow someone scheduled me for another bike outing at a future date that I NEVER scheduled. I got an email reminder about it out of nowhere, and I immediately wrote and told them that they scheduled me incorrectly. I was very nice about it but I'm not now. They wrote back and said they would not cancel and literally STOLE my money. These people are the worst. STAY AWAY and make sure you watch what they do or double-check if you rent anything. The manager yelled at us and accused us of purposely breaking their boat and refused to let us leave without keeping a card to charge. Conveniently located on the edge of Estes, this place offers fishing, motorized, and non-motorized boating. The lake itself is nothing special, but if you want to get on some water it will suffice. Rental rates are reasonable, $25 an hour for a kayak for example. We did not have any service problems. Perfect activity for families, we saw lots of kids fishing. read more

Small lake. They made us ( a group in our 30s) wear life jackets the whole 4 hours. A few of us took them off for a while and a patrol guy on a boat came up and told us to put them back on. No way to play music on the boat. Pontoon was small. It fit 6 of us plus a medium sized dog and it was pretty cozy. Boat was for 7 people. We came here for a friend's pre-wedding celebration and after only being out on the water for barely 30min, the key broke off in the ignition from us just turning it like normal. We laughed it off thinking this happens all the time and immediately called the office people to come get us, thinking that we would get a new boat with no problem. However, when we got back to the dock, the manager immediately came up to us and started accusing us of "breaking" his boat. He was extremely condescending and came at us very aggressively and treated us like we were 14 year old kids that purposefully did something horrible. He then cut our trip off short instead of re-accommodating us on a new boat and then proceeded to tell us we would be responsible for the cost of a new ignition. We are a group of mostly Asian girls and definitely felt that if we were Caucasian, we would not have received this type of hostile treatment. I understand why he would be frustrated with the situation but it was the aggressive, hostile communication that we received over something that wasn't our fault. I have never been treated this badly at a business before and highly discourage anyone from ever coming here, especially if you're a person of color. read more

The marina is run so unprofessionally. Seems teenagers run the business. I have experienced this twice in the last 2 visits firm Albuquerque. The 10 passenger pontoon has red duct tape, low engine power and the boat is filthy. I don't know who runs this marina but it's really sub-par. read more

Horrible experience with the boat operator. Group was there for pre-wedding festivities, which were ruined by his attitude, poor service and angry demeanor (which was unwarranted). We have driven past this lake and marina 1000 times, and finally decided to try renting a boat for some fishing! They have just the right amount of watercraft (kayaks, pontoons, fishing boats and stand up paddle boards ) to be plentiful yet still keep traffic on the water to a minimum. Their rental prices aren't unreasonable, and they even offer fishing licenses! Only negative.... and a very small, cost-you-1-star negative.... the staff. We were lucky and had a very nice younger guy, who was helpful in getting our fishing license when another staff member (an older woman) was trying to suggest that we had to wait because our residency was under 6 months (which it wasn't) . Luckily the guy helping us dismissed her comments and followed through with obtaining the license for us. Overall though, a great stop in Estes for some family fun! read more

I HAD SO MUCH FUN!! We rented a 7 person maroon for 4 of us, because they counted a 15lb service dog as a passenger. It was more expensive, but I completely enjoyed driving the boat around while my family fished (I think it's mean, friends not food, blah blah woof woof insert my irrelevant opinions here). The total came out to be about $45ish per hour. Although it stalled out easily going from N to F or R, the boat was well maintained, easy to steer despite the surprisingly strong currents in the lake with a decent speed. (We had the yellow top one). It also had a decent turn radius which I played with by doing donuts in the water, thus likely moving all the fish away from us. - we were out for an hour and it started to rain heavily, so I brought us back to the dock. This place actually cares for your safety and closes down in rain/storms, which I respect. It was an enjoyable time, for sure, and I have full intentions on coming back... Next time I'd like to rent a kayak, which is also available along with paddle boats, bikes, and even two person peddle cars. Staff was friendly and helpful too. However, tip for your tip needs: bring your own sunscreen or pay $14 for theirs. Too many dollars for spray crap, but thus is the universal price of convenience due to lack of planning. I'm giving the staff 1. The boat was great. We were put on hold for 15 minutes and they never came back, when making a reservation. Had to call them back and they said they forgot about us. Inside counter staff were rude and unclear on directions on what to do once we arrived. The boat was late. Once outside we had to figure out how and where to get life vests, we told the guy outside helping us that inside people were unhelpful. He then got an attitude with us too and was very rude. When I asked to speak to the manager after our time, she looked up at me annoyed and said "what?" With everyone looking, I said I'd like to say something privately. She snapped at me that she was busy and would be with me in a while. The two guys who helped us at the actual boat dock were nice, personable and helpful; but everyone else was a jerk. We were curtly told that we had come too late (they are open until 6) and told to come back until 8 AM. Unbelievably rude to us when just asking about services they provided. We had a great time at this lake. We got a slip for two nights so we didn't have to take the boat in and out every day. It was only 15 bucks a night which seemed pretty reasonable. The staff was helpful enough to answer some questions on how to catch fish up there and we caught a rainbow trout trolling on our first day! It's a tiny lake and you have to go pretty slow, but it was a nice mellow weekend and I would do it again in a heart beat. Say "Hi" to Denali for us! read more

This was our first time on Lake Estes in the many times we have been to Estes Park, and we loved it! It was pure fun in the sun and a nice break from the usual hiking and wildlife watching. We rented a pontoon boat, a canoe and a paddle boat for a total of an hour and a half. Even though we are inexperienced on watercraft, we were given everything we needed to go out on our own and be completely safe. The guys working at the docks were right there to help us get out and back in easily. The lake was clean, beautiful and situated against the picturesque backdrop of the Rocky Mountains. I love to flat water (ocean) kayak. This place has a number of single and double kayaks, as well as canoes and paddle boats. My husband and I prefer to use single person kayaks, so we rented those. The first day we came it had started to rain, and because storms were in the vicinity they would not let anyone out on the water as a precaution. Other places I have gone are not so cautious; I actually appreciate that they are. We came back the next day and were good to go. We were able to kayak on the entire lake because Kayaks do not have motors. The water has a current stronger than many lakes and oceans I have been on so it was at times a lot more work to paddle! There were parts that were not as difficult that gave us a good break. The lake was not overly crowded on either the water or shore at 2 pm in the afternoon which made for a very peaceful experience. The water is cold even in July!! Customer service was prompt and good. Bathrooms right next to the rental building were actually cleaner than many other restrooms in the Estes Park area. Highly recommend for a fun outting. read more
