Most exemplary experience and professional & kindest service in Dillards ever. I received assistance in two departments in this Dillards: Caroline for Lancome in cosmetics & fragrances department and Robert "Preacher" in the men's shoes department. Caroline, the makeup artist for Lancome, was very charming , kind, and assisted me in sampling all these new fragrances from Lancome. I loved her French accent and spending time with her sampling the products. It was first time in Dillards and rare throughout my life for a salesperson in cosmetics to be very patient and kind to me without treating me like I might not make a purchase or disregard me for other customers. The fragrance collection box was priced at $37.50 instead of the regular price for $50. I had to purchase $39.50 worth of Lancome to get the free gift with purchase from Lancome , so I purchased more products. The free gift was Lancome Free 7-Piece Brightening and Revitalizing Absolue . I purchased LANCÔME'S IRRESISTIBLE LIP IDÔLE LIP DUO, Absolue Les Parfums fragrance collection, and DUAL FINISH POWDER FOUNDATION. The fragrance collection is a great way to sample $280 bottles of perfume. My favorite scents were the exotic, incense, & oriental and gourmand perfumes: Oud Bouquet, Rose on the Moon, and Rose or Die. Rose or Die was not available to sample yet it became my favorite after buying and smelling it for the first time. My husband has needed nice work shoes for over a year and walks a lot of mileage for his job and travel. His shoes were very old and uncomfortable yet he never bought new shoes to replace them. I told him that I found nice shoes in Dillards, sent him photos, and told him I didn't mind buying them at full price instead of waiting for a sale. I thought it was imperative to find shoes he would use and walk a lot of mileage in his everyday work life. He didn't want to come and try them despite my sales pitch to him on the phone. Before the mall & Dillards closed, he surprised me and secretly went there in person and purchased two pairs of dress shoes from Preacher. I was very pleased and liked that he took the initiative to go and try the shoes for himself. I am thinking of going back and buying similar shoes for my father in law. read more

We've always enjoyed shopping at Dillard's because of the great selection and well-maintained store, but one interaction completely changed our experience. While browsing, my husband lightly touched one of the display covers. Out of nowhere, an associate named Wes yelled across the store, "EXCUSE ME, YOUNG MAN!" in a sharp, scolding tone. We were both startled because there was no clear reason to address anyone that way. My husband is a grown adult, and the way Wes spoke to him made it seem like he had mistaken him for a much younger person, which still would not justify such an abrupt and disrespectful approach. When we walked over to ask what the issue was, he avoided eye contact, muttered something under his breath, and then told us that if we didn't like it, we could leave. As someone who has worked in customer service for many years, I was shocked. A simple, calm explanation would have been completely appropriate. We genuinely enjoy shopping at Dillard's, but this encounter made us feel disrespected and unwelcome. We would have appreciated any form of clarification or an apology, but none was offered. It is disappointing to see someone so abrasive, unprofessional and confrontational representing a store we both enjoyed for many years. read more

Beautiful store! Very clean and well organized. I drive 1 1/2 hrs to get to this store. Honestly, passing 3 Belk stores along the way. Associates are attentive, helpful, and determined to make my shopping experience a good one. On my last trip, I went to the dress department. I found Muriel, or should I say she found me! She asked my how she could help me. I replied, "oh, I want you to look at me, know what would look good on me, and go right to it!" She laughed, and proceeded to do just that! She is wonderful! Then I went down to handbags. Here I found Mary. This is the second time I have spoken with Mary. She is another Wonderful, helpful associate. I will be back soon! Love this store! I purchased a swimming suit top in February and paid $72 for it--due to medical reason I didn't try it on until April 10th. It didn't fit so I took it back to the mall store on Oleander in Wilmington NC-I was told that because I only have a 30 day window to return it (all tags were on it and I had the receipt) they would not return it or give me an instore credit. I went to the office and explained the situation, The woman said she would speak to a manage, who walked by me and went down the hall to speak in private with the woman. The woman came back and told me that I had a double return issue because it was over 30 days--I am canceling my Dillard's card and never shopping at this store again. Not only is that the most ignorant reason to not let a customer return an item, but they were arrogant & rude. I can shop online and get better customer service--they stink at this store and all of Wilmington needs to know it. How can they be so cheap? Their prices sure aren't cheap- I had the receipt with the yellow tag on it and it had clearly never been worn--so upset at this. read more

In these times of self service clothes shopping and wondering if you can get any help, what could have been a stressful experience shopping for a men's suit became one where a good time was had by all! My wife and I accompanied our 26 year old son who was shopping for his first suit. What good fortune that Matt Diamond, Dillard's tailored suit specialist, was at the helm Sunday afternoon. After searching the racks to finally realize a suit coat and slacks combo off the rack wasn't going to work, Matt introduced us to their tailored suits which are available within 2 weeks of order entry from their clothing factory in Germany. Available in 4 pricing tiers, we think it represented great value in comparison to what was available in store. He walked us through choosing the fabric, lining, piping, buttons, monogramming, lapel, and venting. When it arrives, Matt will arrange for the final alterations and coordinate shirts, ties, dress shoes and belt for him. I can't say enough about Matt's ability to make what is often a stressful experience into one that was educational, friendly and fun. read more

I love that Dillard's is clean, organized, and has great shoe sales! I love snapping up new Tom's, Born, or Vionics when they are on sale here. The staff is also friendly. On a previous visit one staff member went out of their way to assist a friend who was mistakenly sold the wrong size shoe. Meaning that one shoe was one size and the other shoe was another. Though it was months later they still replaced it with the appropriate size. Excellent store and customer service. read more

On the plus side, Dillard's carries a nice range of clothing brands, and their sales associates want to be helpful. They also deeply discount sales merchandise. BUT customer service at the Wilmington, NC Dillard's is terrible. They don't want to solve problems, they just want to pass you on to someone else. I love Dillard's as a whole company. HOWEVER, this in particular location .. I had the absolute worst experience of my life. I have shopped so many places and in particular in the Wilmington mall so many times and have never experienced what I experienced here. I was in Dillard's on Thursday April 18th, 2024, around 2pm-4pm. I was browsing the Michael Kors purses, and the higher end purses with my daughter, and 2 younger sons. I had anticipation of buying a purse or multiple for myself as a special treat for mother's day. The lady there (taller, older lady, short curly hair, black sweater) actually called Security to follow us around and kept insinuating we were trying to steal. Grant it, the purses were padlocked. And little did this lady know I could have bought multiple purses. We were just browsing and she kept coming up to us multiple times, in a panicking manner asking if she could help us. It was to a point I was going to offer up my bag for her to look because of how uncomfortable she was making myself and my daughter feel. Something needs to be done with this because I would NOT want anybody else to feel this way. I know stealing happens but to assume someone is doing that without any probable cause is ridiculous. Needless to say I went to Belks. At least there I wasn't treated as though I was stealing while I was just looking at the purses. Not saying race had anything to do with it but I find it oddly particular nobody else was questioned but maybe because they were Caucasian. read more

It's taken awhile, but I have warmed up to Dillards and really enjoy shopping here now. The employees here are very friendly and eager to help. They have a nice housewares department. I love their selection of bras. They carry all the nice quality brands. I also like their selection of handbags and shoes. All around a great place to shop. read more

Every now and then you come across an employee at a store who acts like they care about helping you. Diane at Dillard's in the shoe department was awesome! She offered suggestions and was quick to respond to questions and needs. In town visiting my parents, needed to get a pair of heels for a wedding and a pair of pretty sandals that don't hurt my toe aka not thongs (not easy since almost all sandals are thongs). Sterling in the shoe department was wonderful. I described what I was looking for and he gathered a few options. We talked about what I could wear each shoe with -- he had good style and was not pushy at all. I bought two pair! Sterling reminded me of the professional retail folks in DC, was nice to have that kinda treatment at the beach. Kudos! read more
