Traveled from Washington DC, and clothes mentor was on my visit list, I had purchased a Louis Vuitton bag during my visit last year. I came in Sunday when the store opened to check out their current collection of LV bags. I really had my heart set on purchasing from this store because I had such a great experience the first time. this weekend was very different, the woman at the counter was too busy to assist me, as she was prioritizing sellers. I walked up to the designer bags and she acted like I wasnt allowed to browse and touch the bags. she acted stuck up like it was an actual LV store. I understand protecting merchandis, but as a customer it was an insult and I peacefully left and didn't spend a dime. I went over to Dilliards and they had me trying on bags and giving top service. read more

Every GIRL who works there knows NOTHING about reselling garments or shoes. However they do know how to list SOME of their rules w/rapid talk track. They only know how to say can't, won't, don't, and no. So many rules. And when you asked for clarification, they give you even more rule. You can't come in more than once a day regardless of what they take. You have to come back after two hours, although I was texting after an hour and 45 minutes. And if you don't pick up your clothes before closing, they keep them. I guess that's how they stocked their inventory. It's such a scam. Don't waste your time. Find a private consignment shop. read more

Don't waste your time and energy!! I had three bags full of stuff and might I add it was very nice stuff and clothes still with tags on it. I called the store prior to going which they told me they accept shorts and jeans and I even asked once I hauled in the three large bags however, when I go pick up my order, I still get three bags full of clothes back main shorts and jeans and they only took maybe 10 items. This is not my first time with this store however it is my LAST! It's very frustrating when you go in there and see the stuff that they have on the shelves which some of it is junk but yet they don't take your very nice clothing with namebrand . They are very, very very picky..Don't waste your time, energy or effort!!! read more

They will try to rob you blind! It's obvious that they don't cater to professional people and basically sell to a younger clientele. After visiting their store and reviewing all of the merchandise they have, it was obvious that I brought my upscale clothing to the wrong place. My mistake for not investigating before I brought my things in read more

Wonderful selection and great prices for name brand and designer clothing. Employees are generally helpful and friendly.

Very rude staff. They were very unkind as my friends and I were trying to drop off. Very selective and offered VERY little for how much they decided to take. read more

This store as well as Platos Closet are under new ownership and now give you close to nothing for your items. I brought in many good quality items of which they accepted 2 designer items in excellent condition and offered me $7?!? It is not worth the gas and certainly not your time. I will be sending my clothes to thred up from now on and advise you do the same. I was very disappointed and even disgusted with their offer. read more

I had a nice visit here today getting to purchase two great pairs of shoes for a fraction of their original cost. I bought a pair of brand new Rainbows for $20.00. The clothes are situated by style and color and the staff were friendly. They do not give bags so make sure you bring one with you if you have a lot of items. read more

I have been here MANY times, and have never checked in before, but just HAD to write and give a big shout out to Maria and Terrianna(sp?). I am injured on crutches, and they went ABOVE and beyond to help me today! I have not experienced this level of help in many places here in Wilmington, and I must give them extra kudos - for not just wonderful customer service...but for, also, EXTRA KINDNESS!! And - also SUPER HAPPY that all the jeans we tried on fit us...happy girls!! Thanks Clothes Mentor...and please recognize the wonderful girls, Maria and Terrianna!! See you next time!! read more

Clothes mentor... I enjoyed myself here. There are a lot of cute dresses, skirts, blouses, jewelry and shoes. Worth the hour drive from Jacksonville. However, the employees were a tad on the snarky side. They were all chatting with each other and whenever I asked them for some assistance, they stated at me as if I were bothering them. It's all good though, I found some cute pieces here. read more

I've never been here before but my first experience was interesting. I thought this was a place for mature women (thinking 45+) but upon walking in it immediately seemed like a younger vibe, closer to its sister store Plato's Closet. When I inquired about this I was told they market as clothing for mature aged women, but that they try to appeal to a demographic of 25+. Even the employees (who were nice enough which is why I'm giving 2 stars instead of 1) seemed to be in their 20's. I asked if they were hiring (asking for a friend's mom) and they said they were because "everyone is going back to school." In a time of such an ageist job market this place could be great for real opportunities for more mature women but they are still seeking a younger demographic although they advertise otherwise. I didn't expect to get much money from what I was dropping off, I know how Plato's Closet works and I'd figure it would be the same but it seems there's a bit of false advertisement going on here and that's unfortunate. Highly disappointed with this company. read more

Customer service was weak, I almost feel bad for the girls working here since no one seems to enjoy their job. Large selection but many items stained and well worn like platos closet. Prices were so high for the quality of items, I find better things at goodwill.. read more

Stumbled upon this place while visiting target. The ladies were lovely and I found some nice clothes ! I will be back

I am usually creeped out buying used clothing, but I have actually bought clothing here several times. Everything is in great shape here, probably either worn once or never (many items still have tags on them). I love shopping, but unfortunately have a very limited budget. They are very picky with what they buy (I have been turned down a few times actually). I really like their selection and sizes for a 20-something professional/student. Staff are OK, not too friendly but not rude either. read more

Poor customer service. Unfriendly personnel with exception of the Afro American Girl, she is a hero who saves that place. Many times I go in and they are talking among themselves ignoring the customers who pays their salary. I was wondering why this place is so empty. No customers. They need to take lessons from next door Plato's Closet. I know the both stores belongs to the same owner. Get a grip Mr. Owner or you will be out of business on Clothes Mentor soon. Great Customer service is the heart of any business. read more

Don't expect to get much for your name brands! Sadly as soon as you leave they make bank on what you got ripped off. Could get more off EBay. If you don't use something anymore I guess the store credit is nice if you see something you want. read more

I absolutely LOVE this place! One of my favorite places to get quality name brand items at a low cost. I got a Free People sweater on clearance for $10, which is probably 95% lower than the actual cost of the sweater. There is a huge selection and I always walk away with what I needed and more. read more

Drove all the way from Carolina Beach to collect the clothes and they didn't take a single item, Izod, Argon sweaters, polo brands (teacher clothes) instead of saying we didn't want to buy anything they just told me to come pick up my items and cash! Why in the text does it say I'm ready to pick up cash if y'all weren't going to buy ANYTHING! I will not be back to this establishment for ANYTHING! I'd rather send my expensive work clothes to a family in need then see the INFLATION OF PRICES THEY HAVE ON THE ITEMS IN THIS STORE!!! The customer service wasn't that great also considering she wouldn't explain why the item weren't accepted other than not what they are looking for right now... that's not an explanation that's her wanting to be short instead of answering questions. Terrible experiences here multiple times this was just the LAST straw I'm done with this clothes mentor FOREVER read more

This is THE best second hand clothing store I have ever found. They have the best selection and the nicest employees. When I travel I go to different second hand stores just for fun. This one is by far the best when it comes to getting quality clothing. I LOVE them and would recommend them to anyone and everyone. read more

I honestly don't feel welcomed or comfortable every time I go into that place and when I'm trying on clothes I hear the woman whispering and I feel uncomfortable. Your review helps others learn about great local businesses. Please don't review this business if you received a freebie for writing this review, or if you're connected in any way to the owner or employees. read more

The clothing is overpriced for being used. When I took in 3 tubs of name brand clothing I received $5 for the 4 items they purchased. I also had to wait 3 hours for them to look through the clothing. They are extremely picky when you bring clothes in, but then I have seen very used clothing on their racks... not impressed. They would move through their clothing by selling them cheaper and still make a profit when they aren't even giving you a $1 for a piece you sell to them... read more

Sad to say I had a bad experience today when I went to sell my clothing. First, I was super surprised when I came in the day before that a designer leather jacket with no damage (I never wore it) was not purchased. I came back the next day with additional clothes and placed the jacket back in the pile which was then chosen for purchase. I was offered $15 for the jacket and at first was confused as I recalled this jacket being worth much more. I accepted and went to my car. Out of curiosity, I checked the price of the jacket online (Alice + Olivia) and was completely set back that jackets similar were up in the $800-$1000 range. I felt taken advantage of after trusting that this store staff would pay me accordingly a chunk of what it was worth. I went back in the store and asked why I was only given $15 and one of the workers was nice enough to void the transaction and return the jacket to me; however, during this process, the manager came over and proceeded to tell me I'm not allowed to get the jacket back, and that I would have to buy it. I explained that minutes before I had just picked up the cash and the that the woman was already voiding it. The manager was extremely rude and obviously didn't care about customer satisfaction at this point because she wouldn't budge. It's frustrating that I'd have to look up every item I sell to make sure I'm getting the right amount instead of putting trust in the workers to give what is necessary. It's also a shame that she didn't take into consideration the profit I'd be making if I sold the jacket myself verses the $35 profit they would make on the jacket. Extremely rude and inconsiderate and I will definitely not be back to buy or sell to this location. read more

Everytime I am in Wilmington I shop here. They sell quality clothing, with up to date styles. No frumpy looking clothes here. Great designers clothing and a great selection of designer bags. Brahim, Michaels Kors, Coach, and Kate Spade. I found a spring Kate Spade bag for $99. read more

Great consignment store! They only seem to accept clothing that is in tip top shape and they have a wide variety. I especially love the BIG sale that they have twice a year. Little tip: if you want to go to the big sale don't wait until the $1 day or you will be in a swarm of people and waiting in lines for 1+ hours. I go on the first day when everything redline in $3 (the extra $2 is totally worth my sanity). They also have some great brands (ummmm hello Rich & Skinny jeans for $3)!! read more

I'm giving this place two stars only because I like to shop here. I brought in a huge bag of clothes today many of them were name brand. They told me it would take an hour and a half to check the bag. So I left and came back and hour later to check on the status of the clothes and they had not even started looking at them yet. I waited another 20 to 30 minutes and once they were finished they basically gave me my huge bag back and only gave me $17 for the few items they took. The bag they gave me back still had a lot of namebrand items in the bag. I was not impressed with clothes mentor and how they review the closing. I will probably not be selling with them again. read more

This is an epscale consignment shop for the professional woman. Everything is very well organized and easy to find. I bought a beautiful Nine West purse, new with tage, for $10, a new floral dress which retailed for $120 and still had the tags on it for $14! Love this store. read more

I go here with my wife as they have no men's clothing here. I guess it was a pretty good location - clothes and merchandise all seemed clean - a bit higher priced than they should have and the selection was a bit more limited here than at other CM's! read more

Place has a good selection of designer brand names, but they don't pay much for you stuff. Staff is unfriendly.

My new favorite spot for affordable trending fashion! I brought some items in to sell/trade and I was well taken care of by the staff. Everyone was friendly and very helpful. The store was clean and organized and full of the latest trends! They have tons of designer items for amazing prices! I can't wait to go back read more

I absolutely love this store! There is always something new out on the floors. It's clean and very organized as well so it is super easy to shop. They have so much cute designer stuff as well. I dropped by here Sunday after seeing their weekend sale advertised on Facebook. Basically all clearance in the store was $3 Friday, $2 Saturday, and $1 on Sunday. I went on Sunday because let's face it, I am broke, I love to shop and I like being cheap shit. This store is great because you can easily browse through your size rack and go on about your day. The tops and dresses were pretty picked through so I headed to the pants section and found two amazing pair. One pair are Ann Taylor cropped trousers with an elastic waist band. The fit perfectly and will be wonderful for business causal spring outfits. The other pair are very trendy bohemian pants like you would see at Coachella. The pants are actually kind of loud and I am not sure where or when I will ever where them but they perfectly and were only $1. Couldn't be happier with my Sunday shopping adventure and my wife was really pleased that I only managed to spend $2.37 read more

This is a giant waste of time if you are trying to sell nice clothes-a $132.00 lilly pulitzer dress nwt, they offered $12.00. I'd rather give my clothes to goodwill. this was my 2nd and final trip there-a real timesuck ! read more

Never looked at my clothes because I could tell by the way I had stacked and folded them. I had better clothes than I saw on their shelves. Told me they had too much inventory and my stuff was 'out of their date'. So out of 3 large bins, they took a tank top and a pair of hardly worn shorts from about 6 years ago, not the newer stuff and gave me $2.80 for both. My teen daughter who knows my brands said they missed out. Ebay will be my seller, takes time but worth it in the long run. Never again. And they don't deserve ONE star but I did find a pair of shoes shopping. read more

I brought a box full of clothes perfectly folded in a large box that I left to be looked at by the employees for consignment. After 2.5 hours I was told that nothing was of interest. When I got home I realized that not a single thing in the box had been moved even an inch - including an expensive pair of Jones of New York leather pants. They say they are ultra particular but the store is full of junk. I have to wonder if they looked at this woman in her late 50's and just assumed I had no taste in clothing. They refused a new pair of black pumps with a bow - office attire, but I guess not a platform shoe with a 5" heel they prefer. Waiting to hear from the Manager now. Avoid this place like the plague. read more

Dropped off a basket of clothing for review at 1:49PM. Was told I would be sent a text when the review was finished between 1 1/2 to 3 1/2 hours. Asked if I come come back the next day and was told no if I wanted cash for my items. Drove back to the store after 5 hours and was told I was next and it would be 1 hour. Again I said "I have driven to town twice and now you want me to hang around for another hour" The girl said just come back tomorrow between 12 and 6. Drove back to the store for the third time at 1:30 next day. Was told I was next and it would be another hour. I just picked up my items and brought them back home as I will not be going back there again. read more
