I've never been here before but my first experience was interesting. I thought this was a place for mature women (thinking 45+) but upon walking in it immediately seemed like a younger vibe, closer to its sister store Plato's Closet. When I inquired about this I was told they market as clothing for mature aged women, but that they try to appeal to a demographic of 25+. Even the employees (who were nice enough which is why I'm giving 2 stars instead of 1) seemed to be in their 20's. I asked if they were hiring (asking for a friend's mom) and they said they were because "everyone is going back to school." In a time of such an ageist job market this place could be great for real opportunities for more mature women but they are still seeking a younger demographic although they advertise otherwise. I didn't expect to get much money from what I was dropping off, I know how Plato's Closet works and I'd figure it would be the same but it seems there's a bit of false advertisement going on here and that's unfortunate. I am usually creeped out buying used clothing, but I have actually bought clothing here several times. Everything is in great shape here, probably either worn once or never (many items still have tags on them). I love shopping, but unfortunately have a very limited budget. The clothing is overpriced for being used. When I took in 3 tubs of name brand clothing I received $5 for the 4 items they purchased. I also had to wait 3 hours for them to look through the clothing. They are extremely picky when you bring clothes in, but then I have seen very used clothing on their racks... not impressed. Sad to say I had a bad experience today when I went to sell my clothing. First, I was super surprised when I came in the day before that a designer leather jacket with no damage (I never wore it) was not purchased. I came back the next day with additional clothes and placed the jacket back in the pile which was then chosen for purchase. I was offered $15 for the jacket and at first was confused as I recalled this jacket being worth much more. I accepted and went to my car. Out of curiosity, I checked the price of the jacket online (Alice + Olivia) and was completely set back that jackets similar were up in the $800-$1000 range. I felt taken advantage of after trusting that this store staff would pay me accordingly a chunk of what it was worth. I went back in the store and asked why I was only given $15 and one of the workers was nice enough to void the transaction and return the jacket to me; however, during this process, the manager came over and proceeded to tell me I'm not allowed to get the jacket back, and that I would have to buy it. I explained that minutes before I had just picked up the cash and the that the woman was already voiding it. The manager was extremely rude and obviously didn't care about customer satisfaction at this point because she wouldn't budge. It's frustrating that I'd have to look up every item I sell to make sure I'm getting the right amount instead of putting trust in the workers to give what is necessary. It's also a shame that she didn't take into consideration the profit I'd be making if I sold the jacket myself verses the $35 profit they would make on the jacket. I'm giving this place two stars only because I like to shop here. I brought in a huge bag of clothes today many of them were name brand. They told me it would take an hour and a half to check the bag. So I left and came back and hour later to check on the status of the clothes and they had not even started looking at them yet. I waited another 20 to 30 minutes and once they were finished they basically gave me my huge bag back and only gave me $17 for the few items they took. Great consignment store! They only seem to accept clothing that is in tip top shape and they have a wide variety. I especially love the BIG sale that they have twice a year. Little tip: if you want to go to the big sale don't wait until the $1 day or you will be in a swarm of people and waiting in lines for 1+ hours. Never looked at my clothes because I could tell by the way I had stacked and folded them. I had better clothes than I saw on their shelves. Told me they had too much inventory and my stuff was 'out of their date'. So out of 3 large bins, they took a tank top and a pair of hardly worn shorts from about 6 years ago, not the newer stuff and gave me $2.80 for both. My teen daughter who knows my brands said they missed out. Ebay will be my seller, takes time but worth it in the long run. Never again. I dropped by here Sunday after seeing their weekend sale advertised on Facebook. Basically all clearance in the store was $3 Friday, $2 Saturday, and $1 on Sunday. I went on Sunday because let's face it, I am broke, I love to shop and I like being cheap shit. This store is great because you can easily browse through your size rack and go on about your day. The tops and dresses were pretty picked through so I headed to the pants section and found two amazing pair. One pair are Ann Taylor cropped trousers with an elastic waist band. The fit perfectly and will be wonderful for business causal spring outfits. The other pair are very trendy bohemian pants like you would see at Coachella. The pants are actually kind of loud and I am not sure where or when I will ever where them but they perfectly and were only $1. I brought a box full of clothes perfectly folded in a large box that I left to be looked at by the employees for consignment. After 2.5 hours I was told that nothing was of interest. When I got home I realized that not a single thing in the box had been moved even an inch - including an expensive pair of Jones of New York leather pants. They say they are ultra particular but the store is full of junk. I have to wonder if they looked at this woman in her late 50's and just assumed I had no taste in clothing. They refused a new pair of black pumps with a bow - office attire, but I guess not a platform shoe with a 5" heel they prefer. Waiting to hear from the Manager now.
