This is my favorite place to shop in Wilmington. It always has something you need but never knew you needed it. There are four or five (I'm spaced out right now) all with different specialty items so go to all of them! The staff is really friendly and attentive too. read more

My husband and I stopped in this store for the first time today. First I'll start by saying it's a seemingly nice store with a variety of merchandise at somewhat decent prices. With that being said, I will dive for furniture out of an alley dumpster before I'd ever spend a penny at this place. There are 2 independent stores in the same building and there's no real signage so we didn't realize they were not the same. We started in the back and a really sweet young woman helped up and said we could put things we wanted to the side and she would start totaling them up (we were purchasing several pieces). Here's where the issue came in. My husband picked up a small table from the front to take it to the back with the rest of our stuff and the lady up front starts loudly scolding him. He immediately stopped and said "I'm sorry, the young lady told me it was OK to just put everything back there and she would add it up". The woman, then continues scolding him and said "if you would've asked me I could have told you that it's two different store stores". Again he apologized and said "I didn't even know to ask, I just thought that it was all one store and I'm so sorry". She continued to look at us like we had two heads and she would not back down no matter how many times we said "we're sorry we didn't know". It would be one thing if we were arguing, but not at all, we apologized twice, and she was still incredibly rude and arrogant. If it wasn't for the fact that I really wanted the stuff in the back, I would have told her exactly what I thought. But speaking directly to her and I hope you are reading this. I will tell you that if you ever speak to my husband or myself like that again, I will hurt your feelings so gd bad that they will have to throw a benefit concert in your name. Clearly, you are what I would call a popsicle, frozen solid with a great big stick up your a$$. read more

Sooooo... as interesting as it is to look around this place, the items were kind of "meh" to us. This is definitely "antiquey" compared to the other many consignment shops in the area. We just weren't wow-ed anything. The ladies who work here told us there are like 5 locations of this store, one of which was a short walk across the street. Unfortunately, the it's s were too old and too antique for what we were shopping for but if that's what you're looking for, definitely stop, there is a lot to look at. read more

Went into to Ivy Cottage annex for first time and asked the desk help a question. She did not have her mask on and I did. She asked me to repeat myself three times---guessing she did like the fact that I was wearing my mask? I finally had to pull my mask away from my mouth and raise my voice so she could hear. Another guest was wearing her mask only covering her mouth and not her nose. I asked her if she knew that her mask was ineffective worn that way and she began to berate me on the the basis of religion calling me the devil, yelling at me and the clerk who was not wearing a mask either-- joined in. They told me if I didn't like it I should leave. I will always speak up for public health and safety in this community as we need to care about each other and each others' families and friends who might get sick from our neglect and selfish arrogance. Disappointing that Ivy Cottage does not train their staff and enforce public health protocols in a pandemic where 400,000+ Americans have died. read more

I decided to go visit this place with my aunt after living in Wilmington all my life and watching the commercial being advertised countless times. When we entered the building NO ONE greeted us but when the other guest entered the building the worker struck up a endless conversation with them. We saw several things to purchase but this was the last straw when the worker walked pass us she didn't bother ask us not one time if she could help us plus she brushed pass us so fast until she almost knocked a glass cake plate off the counter it was sitting on. They really do have nice things but some simple everyday stuff is over priced. The Patio Area looked very junky and some of that stuff needed to be tossed on the junk pile. If they could be more cheerful and greet people maybe someone will purchase something. read more

Be careful consigning anything here! They will underprice your items and purchase themselves. One of my relatives recently passed and we took quite a few things to Ivy Cottage for consignment. We told them what the items were any how much they were selling for online, only to later find out they had been "sold" immediately for pennies. We could have literally sold for more online or on craigslist, but didn't because Ivy Cottage told us they would be able to "bring in so much money for the estate." So either they don't know what the items are (even though we told them) and shouldn't be pricing and selling OR they knew exactly what the items were and they priced them low intentionally and their employees/friends purchased for their personal collections. They will not tell you how much they intend to price items for before you leave with them, so there is no opportunity to refuse to sell. You just have to trust they won't undervalue your items. Also note, if you leave items over 3 months they will take ownership of your items without paying you anything. We will never be consigning with them again after being burned several times. read more

Ivy cottage is a gem in Wilmington. Every time I come visit my parents I make a trip here. It is a consignment shop but with great, high quality items. I love their jewelry section! I have scored some very special pieces there. I highly recommend visiting ivy cottage! You never know what you will find! read more

Nice stuff - terrible customer service - I walked in and I said a cheery, "hello", the lady behind the counter completely ignores me and keeps on talking to someone at the store, after I picked up $75 worth of a gift and approached the front desk to check out, she chooses to answer the phone before she helps me and then abruptly asks, is this a gift? i say, "yes"politely. She silently puts it in a gift bag gift and mumbles a very brisk and abrupt, thank you. I needed a gift ASAP otherwise probably, would've walked out of the store. Wilmington used to have a slew of antique and consignment stores, but most are gone, leaving the best...the Ivy Cottage. I love to haunt this place, they have furniture, antiques, china, silverware, jewelry, everything really. I like the sliding scale they have for prices. Everything on the floor has a starting price, and once its been there a month or so, there is a new price, and so on; however, the tag has the discount dates, so you can keep your eye on something and come back later and if it is still there, it may be $100 cheaper...so much fun! read more

GOOD - HUGE! - feels like the best any good mothers / grandmother attic could offer ( which I think is high praise) BAD- - leans more on the high side, not exactly bargain basement priced - still confused on organization of store AD TIP - Start at the store closest to Indochine. I think those two building have the best bargains and the best finds! This was once a "diamond in the rough", "local's only" hot spot that has since been discovered by the masses, which is good and bad! Good because they have expanded into four different building, more space, more options more room for a find! Bad though because this has become the "go to antique / consignment store" in Wilmington, so it does get shopped, and shopped thoroughly and quite regularly, so deals don't last long. Plus with the popularity has come the realization that prices can go up and yet the shoppers continue to flock, so finding a "holly crap" type of bargain, is few and far between here! The store inventory leans mainly towards the 'larger piece furniture' antique / consignment store. While you can find some smaller nick-knacks and tchatcke's, it's not their specialty! They do however carry some pretty killer chandlers, antique jewelry, and replacement fine china pieces - for anyone looking! So while I'm always up for going to the Ivy Cottage, I can't say it's my favorite antique / consignment store in the area. Basically because I love the thrill of the hunt, both for the store itself and for the item I am shopping for. I am a complete bargain buster - and the Ivy Cottage has taken some of the thrill of the find out of it for me. But to be fair, I also tend to have a funkier, modern shabby chic, style - so there are few higher end antique stores really do it for me! But if you lean more towards the classic style..then this might just be your place! read more

This place is a wonderful, glowing gem! 3 Cottages + 1 warehouse (open to the public) of amazing, well priced finds! This isn't your average "consignment" - they only deal in quality antiques, solid, functioning furniture, and heirloom jewelry. Prices are well marked- and come down over time! At the time of my visit, they were having their 15-15-15 sale- if the piece was at least 1 day after the lowest marked price you could take an extra 15% off! I got lost here for hours, until my boyfriend dragged me out. I have a feeling I will be coming here often! read more

I do like this place, they have a lot of interesting items. I've bought some unique teapots and my fiancé bought a beautiful painting. I do agree with the other reviews, people that work there could be friendlier. My biggest gripe is that I LOVED the one room that had mostly beachy décor and seaside items for a beach theme.I went there a few weeks ago and that whole room was totally different and just a mish mash of un appealing stuff. Either they sold a lot of the beach stuff over the summer with all the tourists etc, or they completely changed it. If they did change it ( it looked like they had replaced some of the floor in that room) they should have left it alone. read more

The Ivy Cottage is part tourist attraction and part shopping experience They have four buildings filled with so much stuff and it changes regularly that you have to keep returning Whether you go with an idea of what you want or go looking for something to buy there is a good chance you will leave happy. I also like that they are pet lovers and promote good pet ownership with signs in their windows warning dummy's (my word not theirs) not to leave pets in hot cars and I have been there when they have helped to guide a flock of ducks safely across the parking lot What more can you ask for ? read more

What an amazing find! 4 buildings jam packed with furniture, knickknacks, collectibles, jewelry, rugs.... furnishing galore for every room in your home. Whether you need to furnish your entire house or looking for a specific item, you will probably find it at the Ivy Cottage. There are 3 distinct buildings (one that specifically caters to beach homes) and the warehouse, which is piled high with the most incredible pieces and ridiculously low prices. I found a mid-century piece of furniture made of burled wood and trimmed in metal tagged as a bachelor's wardrobe for $285. It is so spectacular and I'm using it for a bar. Delivery was $50 but there was no way I would have been able to get the wardrobe in my car and carry it into my home, so I am very thankful that they offer a delivery service. Looking in the warehouse is a bit intimidating (but fun)- just wish the employees would be a little more helpful and happy working there. Can't wait to go back and find some more treasures. read more

New to Wilmington and found this jewel the first week. Love this place People are friendly and helpful. They helped me find the perfect piece( backers rack) for my place. They also delivered it timely. The men placed it in my house and unwrapped the glass shelves and placed them. They took their time and did a great job. The next visit I asked if they new were to get somebody to help me decorate. They gave me several referrals. I needed to get my Grandfathers clock repaired from the move and they again gave me several cabinet makers to choose from. I took some things to cosign too. Fantastic. I had some things I was going to donate and they offered to take them for me. Great customer service. I keep going back !! read more

My husband and I popped in while looking for a dining room table. We found it to be fairly pricey but were still interested in a dish set. I looked at the price tag (where three prices were listed) and was negotiating the cost with my husband. One of the workers came over and barked "that's the wrong price" and flipped the tag over to show a higher price. No big deal--but then she just stomped off without offering any help. When I'm spending that kind of money I at bare minimum expect some politeness. read more

Went in last Sunday. Found table we liked with no price. Lady took name and number and said one of two people (she provided their names) would call me Monday. No call. I called Wednesday and asked for one of the individuals. Got the "let me see if he is available." Girl came back and said he was busy "printing checks" and wanted to know if I wanted to leave a number so he could call me back. I said he's had my number and hadn't called so why would this be different? She promised she would put the message in his hand. I gave her the number and guess what- it's Friday now and still no call. Follow up. Still no call so took my time and gas to drive back over to see about table. Still no price but now has two hold tags. No privacy, tags have customer's names and phone numbers for anyone to see. read more

We've found some cool pieces buried in the back warehouse. One bright blue overstuffed sofa chair w ottoman that appear to depict several gay japanese men frolicking among squash and nuts. It's awesome. It's the place to go to find the stuff that makes you go wild....but the average blue hair antique shopper will think is the ugliest thing ever.
