My most recent position with the company was eliminated back in March, so when I was contacted on July 18th regarding another opportunity, I was genuinely excited about the possibility of returning. I was looking forward to interviewing and hopefully being given another opportunity with a company I had already worked for twice. I followed up several times after being contacted, and each time I spoke with the beauty manager, Zohra, I was led to believe that I was still being considered and that I would be contacted to schedule an interview. What was most disappointing was how things were handled this past weekend. I reached out again on Sunday and was told that I would receive a call on Monday. When I still hadn't heard anything Monday, I reached out again and was told I would be contacted within 15 minutes. That call never came. Instead, I received an email stating that the company was no longer interested in moving forward with me. I completely understand that being a former employee does not guarantee me a position or even an interview. I also understand that companies have the right to choose whichever candidates they feel are the best fit. That isn't my issue. My issue is that I would have preferred honesty and direct communication. After repeatedly following up and being reassured that I would be contacted--including being told that very day that I would receive a call within 15 minutes--I feel I should have simply been told that the decision had been made not to move forward with me. There was no reason to continue giving me the impression that an interview or conversation was coming. After working for this company twice and then having my position eliminated in March, this experience was especially disappointing. I feel like my time and emotions were played with, and I found the lack of transparency and follow-through from management very unprofessional. In a way, I'm thankful for the experience because it showed me that returning may not have been the right decision for me. I value honesty, communication, and people keeping their word. I can absolutely accept being told "no." What I don't appreciate is repeatedly being told to expect a call or an opportunity that never comes. Sometimes a rejection really is a redirection.

My husband and I just had a very uncomfortable, insulting experience here today. I was trying on clothes in the dressing room upstairs and I asked my husband to come in to zip me up. The woman who worked there saw him come in and smiled, implicitly acknowledging that he was there to help me. A couple minutes later, the same woman knocked on the door saying "hey guys I'm so sorry um my manager doesn't um want um your husband in here because there's a lot of ladies in here..." We were completely caught off guard and my husband felt embarrassed and shamed. There seems to be a discrepancy in your employee expectations. Are they supposed to obey irrational customer requests (disguised fear which actually stems from white entitlement), or stand up against injustice? It seems as though Dillard's values a non-confrontational environment over challenging disrespect toward someone who did nothing wrong but help his wife. It's pretty on brand for a high end department store though. Like why the hell would my husband want to creep on some wrinkly old white women..? Whatever your policy is on this, be consistent so that my husband doesn't have to feel like he doesn't belong. The employee could've told my husband at the door that there are no men allowed in the dressing room. (Which also doesn't make sense cuz what if he had stuff to try on too...hmm...the math ain't mathing). But she didn't tell him because there is no policy saying he can't be there. Y'all crack under pressure and it's sad. When I passed the register where the manager likely was, she looked at me smugly as if she won. She looked like a fake blonde bimbo. I do wonder if this incident also has to do with the fact that my husband is Mexican...it's giving white fragility. It's giving white trash. If these women feel uncomfortable with a man in their presence, then they should go to a dressing room that says "women only"...or better yet, working with a therapist on their indoctrination. How dare they feel entitled to kick out my husband. Am I in a simulation? It relates to larger social justice issues of "we don't want a trans woman in our restroom because our brains are too small to comprehend gender constructs and so we just judge instead cuz it's easier". But at the same time, they worship right-wing men who sexually abuse women...aren't those the folk they should be targeting? As a white woman, I am disgusted in my species. I come from the same place they do, and I made it out to the other side cuz I'm smart and cool. Ok, recap: so those lame entitled white women are in the wrong. Your employees are also in the wrong for enabling their behavior. Cuz guess what? These women aren't used to getting told no, and just like a surly spoiled teenager, they will continue to breed injustice. Literally and figuratively. But why would you care you're just trying to sell white lady clothes, it's not your job to stand up for what's right. (: Ok, good job reader you made it to the end of my rant! Dillard's has become terrible. Yesterday I tried to pay for some clothes, but there was nowhere to pay. After circling upstairs 3x, I became exhausted (I am a senior). I pulled out my phone and called the store. Phone was answered with a live person immediately. While I was talking to the person on the phone, someone walked by and heard. She said, "do you need help"? When I answered yes, she summoned someone else to assist. They was nothing on them that identified them as employees. They were also truly dressed down. After, I went to the shoe department with my daughter. After 10 min, someone came and went to get shoes for us. She was gone 15 minutes, when she returned, she dumped the shoes and never came back. After 25 minutes, I asked someone else to help. She said that she would get the original person right away. 18 minutes later, nothing. I went to the counter and told them I would buy elsewhere. I am driving to Arden Faire Mall today. Oh, and I almost fell down after tripping over boxes all over the store. I will NEVER return. read more

I ordered multiple pants with different sizes to see which fit best. I went to return the ones that didn't fit. But I made the mistake of thinking I had 30 days from when I received them to return them. But it's actually 30 days from the purchase date. Which is lame because it took 2 weeks to receive them. Totally my fault for not reading the policy but when I asked if I could just exchange them for the correct size, instead of returning them, they wouldn't budge. The pants still have the tags on them. Still have the bag they came in. So now I'm stuck with pants that don't fit. I know it was my mistake but now I'm not interested in ever shopping there again because I don't care for that kind of customer service. They don't really care, they're just happy they got the money. Absolutely deplorable customer service!! No consideration to the current situation with COVID-19 and how it impacts there already ridiculous return policy. I am posting on every site possible to encourage buyers to boycott this horrible excuse of a department store!! They refused to offer a return to my 82 year old mother simply because she was in quarantine and could not return an item within their Stricklands timeline. My aunt and uncle used to live in Orlando, so that was my first experience with this store. I think their clothes are very beachy/cruisewear. Their selection is very different from other stores in the area. The clothes here remind me of my aunt and uncle. My parents won't shop here because of that. I don't think you can go wrong with underwear, socks, home stuff and cosmetics, but other things look very cruise shippy. read more

I stroll the store find a couple additional items to purchase, find the candles I want to exchange and a fragrance I want to purchase with coupon I have from their loyalty program. Waited in the long line got to the point of scanning my Apple Pay to be asked for my ID for the exchange. I told the girl I don't have my wallet that's why I am paying with Apple Pay. She responded with I need your ID to complete the exchange. We'll ladies that would have been great to know the second I entered your location! In the future you should explain your exchange policy when someone asks about it. Complete waist of my time, I was so frustrated I walked off and realized I left my brochure of loyalty coupons. The associates didn't even bother to stop me and give it back. My husband then called the location and asked if he could get our coupons back that were left or somehow add to our profile and they told him it was his problem and he would have to call customer service. Thats a great way to treat your customer ladies, great job!
