My wife and I use to shop here often but we will NEVER again! We came in to shop at the cosmetics department. Shiseido to be exact. We were helped by a middle aged lady, her name was Phootong (please excuse spelling). Anyway, this lady was the most rude and snobby person we have ever dealt with. She was a jerk and made us feel extremely uncomfortable and unwelcomed. She glares at us and other customers and has a rude / sarcastic tone of voice. My wife has shopped at Shiseido counters in Macy's, Nordstroms, and other department stores and have always had amazing service. This lady at the Shiseido counter in Dillard's should not work in retail because she does NOT know how to interact with people properly. Since I've been born and raised in the Bay Area, I'm a fashionista when it concerns shopping for up-to-date looks! This place doesn't come close to Nordstrom, Macy's or Bloomingdale's, but it's a far out-cry for providing a few good choices on name brands. They don't carry much here nor have a large shoe department, but they suffice with what they have. I would rather drive out of my way to go shop at Valleyfair (San Jose), Newpark (Fremont), Union Square (San Francisco), or Arden Fair Mall to check out the better department stores. UPDATE: After contacting the store manager by phone (which took considerable effort) and speaking both to him and the assistant manager, those two made thing happen - and made things right. Alfredo (in men's suits) was exceptional in his dealings with me. And the store manager and assistant manager went overboard to make sure I was properly taken care of, and followed through to make sure things were made right. Oh my goodness where do I start. Ok so me and my wife where shopping at Dillard's due to it being a store with more of our taste we love shopping. But the day we went in we where in our gym clothes. We went straight to hand bags and where greeted by some lovely lady's I got to say all of them where very welcoming. But one girl in particular I think the name was foni or feni not to sure short young little on the heavy side young lady. Approaches us and asks if we are ready to look at something. Mind you this is one person that didn't greet us so we said ok sure thinking she was friendly like the nice young lady's that greeted us . She continues to help us but with an attitude not to sure if her day wasn't going well or what was going on but as we are looking around asking prices and numbers this young lady is getting more irritated which by this time I'm appalled. The young lady specifically states are we gonna buy anything or are we just looking at this point I think to myself is she serious I said no we are gonna make a purchase just looking for something my wife really likes I shouldn't even have to explain myself but I did and this girls attitude went from bad to worse. Treated us like we where sh*t excuse my language but I need to really speak of this and broke. At this point I wanna speak to a manager and I think to myself why not just get a hold of corporate I will go above and beyond to get this girl terminated from the position. To state you don't care due to that you will not be working here much longer completely shocked me I wanted to speak to her manager but the way she made it seem was even if I did speak to her manager she would still be ok due to that she made it seem as if her and the manager are friends so I'm going above and beyond and will get my story heard and if this does not get taken care of Dillard's got another thing coming . Better to only shop Nordstrom and leave Dillard's to someone else. Drove 3.5 hours in horrible traffic to the only Dillard's in NorCal to return a $225 purse. Manager would not return it because it didn't have the yellow "pop" label on the sticker. I'm the customer how do I know to tell the sales person to complete the purchase properly by putting the "pop" label on it? Now I own a too small purse with no recourse to return it. No manager in the store just 2 lower level managers who would not budge. I will never shop at Dillard's again because it is inconvenient and the return policies are draconian. This is not Nordstrom that's for sure. $225 wasted. read more

They have some of the worst customer service EVER. Yesterday morning I went in here to get Steve Madden's Slithur caged heel. I already knew exactly what I wanted and was wearing them to a wedding the same day. I found the shoes, walk about to the counter and say I'd like to try these on please and smile, all that good stuff because I work in customer service at a call center, I know what it's like to deal with unhappy people. Anyway, the guy has not the least bit warm, asked what size, went and got it, handed me two boxes and walked away. Now typically at Dillard's in their shoe department they help you through the entire process. Help you actually try the shoes on, make other suggestions similar to the style you like, etc. I watched another employee doing just that with another lady. Why I wasn't provided the same experience, I don't know. Anyway, I tried them on, paid and left. I won't be going back though. And that is exactly why I don't even go to any mall or department store in Stockton typically. The experience SUCKS! read more

OK...here's another (male) perspective on the "SALES" at Dllard's... Yes, they rock. I can't figure it out. When Dillard's closes out its merchandise, they really DEEP DISCOUNT the stuff. I've lived in other cities with Dillard's -- and they never do these sales in those other stores. I have a theory about these said "SALES"....My theory is that the entire chain liquidates its merchandise to the Stockton store because it is very much removed from the other physical locations in the chain. After all, there are only three Dillard's in all of California -- and the closest one is in Palmdale -- waaaay in Southern California. Sooo....why on earth is there a Dillard's in Stockton? My theory continues... The Dillard's in Stockton serves as a pseudo-liquidation store for the overpriced merchandise at the other upper-scale Dillard's locations. Since it is so isolated (I mean, who the heck would expect a Dillard's in Stockton?!!!), the "brand" isn't compromised... OK, it's just a theory...but the fact remains that there are some great deals at this Dillard's!!!! read more

I have been a fan of Dillard's for the prices, quality and overall friendly service. Oh and the prices. When they have a sale its always good labels and quality items. A recent gift of fabulous shoes went bad when the leather tore and the gift giver no longer in the picture. But with no receipt Linda Duran replaced my fab shoes without question or making me feel like a criminal. This is again why I will continue to shop at Dillards, without comparison to Nordstrom or Macy's they hold their own in customer service like the rest of my favorite stores. I shop at Dillard's regularly and I was helped out with by an associate that was very professional and helpful. I was in the changing room in the men's department and the shirt I wore in was on the floor and became wet. We realized it was urine from a prior customer and management offered $1.75 off the t-shirt I had to buy because mine was not able to wear out. I bought some clothes through on line order, they came poorly stitched and damaged. When I called them to exchange for different size or return, I got the worst customer service. They did not care to return or exchange them for correct sizes even. Zero value for returning customers or customer retention. No resolution to date and I have a bag full of useless merchandise from this store that they sold via deceiving online pictures with no recourse to exchange, return or even store credit. I have shopped at Dillards for years and have never had a bad experience until recently. I was shopping at their New Years Clearance event. I found some items and my hands were full. All the other shoppers were grabbing the cardboard boxes left around to put their items in, so I found one, with all of 10 little ornaments in it. I moved them to another box that was already full.
