I can tell at this particular store that they are very community driven as well. As soon as I walked in, I noticed a display encouraging shoppers to donate to a book drive for school aged children. If you decide to make a donation (no matter the amount), the employees give an exciting salute to you. It kept the shopping experience upbeat and engaging. On a whim, I stopped into WHBM and was practically to the register before anyone acknowledged me. One staff member addressed me, asked what I was looking for, and quickly handed me off to another sales person behind the register who refused to even look at me. The two then disappeared through a door to the stock room. Umm, what? I was in workout clothes and my hair was in a bun, so I wondered if they had judged me for that then remembered how ridiculous it would be for them to dismiss me because of that. For the record, I happen to have worked retail for years and know from experience that you never know which customer is going to drop some serious dough. I came with little clothing in hopes to find some cute things to wear in Memphis for the weekend. Of course, my first stop was The Loft. I will be honest and say that I have gained a few pounds this year and was looking for a size XL top and 16 jean. Again, never a problem finding these sizes....EVER. To my dismay and surprise, they did not have these sizes. I asked a store employee for assistance. This particular employee, whom I hoped would be friendly and helpful, began to tell me that "we do not have enough square footage for those sizes at this store". Okay, that's fine...I guess? I was a bit taken aback. And of course feeling very embarrassed and insecure when she announced this to the ENTIRE store....meaning, she was not quiet about it. Needless to say, I left my FAVORITE store in TEARS. A store who has been there for me for years and never steers me wrong....disappointed me. Shame on your employees. I didn't want to deal with that anymore. I research several different places online, and decided on Sugar Plum. Their consignment pricing is fair, I have lived in many different states, and found that the 40% that you get is pretty standard. I have never found it higher, and at times, much lower. I went to the store, and they took about half of what I had, they said to come back after April to bring them back, because they were more "summer." As I waited for them to go through my items, I browsed the store and found that they don't have a lot of plus size clothing, which actually works for me, because I intend to keep it stocked with my consignments. heehee They took five items on 3/4/18, and all but one top has sold. I called the store and asked about their payment policy; do I have to wait a certain amount of time? Will you mail me a check? Donna who answered the phone was extremely nice, and said that mailing it wasn't a problem, and it was my money, I could get it any time. I definitely plan to go back and bring more clothing and shoes to the store. It is such a relief to not have to worry whether a person on Ebay is going to be crazy or not!!!
