The women that run the place are kind of snotty. I took bags in to be looked at and they tried to tell me my bags are fake when they're certainly not fake. I bought them all at the designer stores they're labeled as. Out of style maybe but not fake. I don't appreciate basically being told I'm a liar. I shop consignment stores all over the country so I feel like that gives the the authority to claim that Celery is one of the best. I've been coming here for years and I have found some incredible deals. Yes, sometimes I go home empty handed but it the thrill of the hunt that keeps me coming back. Celery makes the hunt super easy and enjoyable. The store is very well organized and the staff has been nothing but helpful and accommodating. They are very picky about the items they except which translates to mostly designer labels with the occasional high-end mall label mixed in. I think their shoes are a bit overpriced compared to other consignment stores but I will forgive them for that. They do have an entire room dedicated mostly to shoes and the selection is pretty darn fancy. When you walk in to the store one of the staff members will hand you a little slip of paper listing the ticket colors that are on sale. Before you walk out though, make sure to get on the email list. I regularly receive emails offering additional discounts with the mention of a password. Fun! read more

While Celery does have a good selection of name-brand shoes at reasonable prices (relative to their retail prices), I was not impressed when I walked through the rest of the store. I think they focus and rely on the names of the clothes too much. I was not fond of the styles of clothes and shoes they had, even if they were Jimmy Choo and Stella McCartney. To me, the items seemed dated and lacking good design. I think the store would do better if they diversified their labels and had the iconic brand-name items mixed in with more current styles by less elite fashion labels. I know it is a consignment store and a limited selection is to be expected, but the clothes and accessories they had when I went were not enough to make me want to go back, as I am interested in the style and quality of clothes even more than who they are by. read more

I've recently discovered consignment shopping, so I was eager to check out Celery. It's kind of buried back on Brookhaven Circle, but is conveniently painted an eye-catching...celery green. Cute. Typical of businesses on this circle, the parking lot is a cramped mess, so I was glad I drive a small car. The front door was unlocked (though I noted the bell and accompanying sign), but I was not, as other reviewers have mentioned, greeted with a slip with the day's sales. I was a little surprised at the size of the store, as I stumbled into room after room crammed with racks of clothes. What also surprised me was the prices. I mean, I get that this is meant to be a VERY high-end store (the cheapest label I saw was Ann Taylor Loft), but this was way out of my price range, even for designer goods. I tried on a few pairs of pants just for the heck of it, and had my suspicions confirmed that, despite recent weight loss, I still have no business wearing a size [bleep]. A sales lady was quick to offer me a fitting room, and a few others said hi, but, as is typical of these kinds of stores, it was hard to tell who worked there and who was just shopping. The shoe room was my biggest disappointment. I am desperate for some black pumps, but I didn't see anything remotely interesting in my size, despite the much larger selection than many resale shops. I think maybe if I had more money to spend on clothes, I would come back here, but given my limited budget and willingness to wear no-name brands, I'll stick to the cheaper second-hand shops. read more

Attention, budget fashionistas - there's a magical place in east Memphis where both your high-end tastes and thin wallet can be satisfied. Celery is located in an appropriately celery colored converted house on Brookhaven Circle in East Memphis. They bill themselves as an "upscale ladies resale" boutique, which means that when people are done with their designer goods, they can bring them to Celery to sell on consignment. When I heard "upscale ladies resale", I was hesitant. I had a mental image of racks of pantsuits, blouses and crazy shoes. Celery proved me wrong, though - there are some amazing steals tucked into the racks. Think of it as a very classy, well organized version of thrift shopping - you might have to dig a little bit, but if you do, you'll be rewarded with great deals on high-end clothing. Celery managed to mitigate my hatred of shopping by appealing to my love of surprises. When I was there a few nights ago, I went home with a pair of almost new knee-high oxblood Frye boots for $60. When you go to Celery, make sure you pick up a sale sheet from the counter. They list what color tags are on sale that day. Thanks to the sale sheet, I scored a pair of perfect, 60 percent off skinny jeans (incidentally, the only pants I've ever owned that have been the right length). Ooh, Celery! You know what's up! This shop is great. I live for thrifting, but sometimes you want to shop at a place that doesn't make you want to bathe in hand sanitizer. Celery is ultra clean, packed full of high-end designer goods, and it's a consignment shop. Everything is beautifully organized, if not by designer, than by color and size. Oh! The little slip of paper you get handed (after you're buzzed in) - those are the daily sales. Yup. Everything is already like, 1/2 off msrp, and then each day certain color coded items are additionally discounted. Rad. I'm all for that. Also- there's a sweet accessory room in back, jam packed with shoes, bags, belts and scarves. I found a Chloé bag for $65. No joke. You'll know Celery when you see it, it's oh so cleverly painted just the shade to suit it's name. When I pulled up, I could not wait to get in the doors. I had heard so much about the resale shop offering up extensive designer brand name clothing, shoes and jewelry. If you go during business hours, don't fret when you attempt to get in the doors and cannot. You'll need to ring a bell and get buzzed in. Fancy! I was seriously in awe of the shoe collection. Jimmy Choos, Manolo Blahniks, Dolce & Gabbana oh my shoe-ganza! I slipped so many designer shoes on my feet during this visit! It was amazing to not only find them in my size, but to see that although they were used you really couldn't tell aside from the price tags. You see ladies, here you can get yourself a pair of Manolos for $150 bucks. And yes, they do look brand new. I almost (ALMOST!) snatched up a pair of brown, sequined, leopard print Manolo pumps, but my husband caught wind of what was going on and put an immediate stop to it. He's a smart man, I'll give him that. Aside from the shoe selection, I wasn't overly impressed. They have tons of high end clothing, some names I'd never heard of, but with that designer label comes designer sizing. My right arm probably wouldn't fit into a size 2 Chanel pant suit, let alone my ass. So, obviously, I didn't get a big kick out of the clothing side of things. There's jewelry too, not a huge selection, but you can find some simpler jewelry items up in front. I will be making my way back to Celery in the future, sans husband, for all of my designer shoe addiction needs. I've found some really cute stuff here but of course most of it isn't in season so you have to be flexible / open to anything when shopping here. Every time I go to Celery, I feel like I'm having a personal stylist help me with a red carpet look ! That kind of handholding treatment can really help a girl on one of those "days" if you know what I mean. I have been hesitant about writing a review on Celery... It's such a hidden gem. Celery is an designer consignment store. When you are a poor grad student like me, you've got to find ways to purchase designer jeans without dropping $100-$200... I have bought so many great things here: multiple pairs of AG jeans, Michael Stars tops, Splendid tops, Tory Burch earrings, Sevens for all Mankind Jeans, Citizens of Humanity jeans, etc... You name the designer brand, they likely have it. They always have Chanel purses, Louis Vuitton purses, and even Jimmy Choo shoes... It is located at the end of the Brookhaven circle in a little green house. It his very cozy inside and the employees are always very welcoming. I have snagged some great deals at Celery and there is typically a sale offering additional percentages off. However, it is hit-or-miss. I suppose that can be said of any store, but there seems to be more of a focus on high-end brand names than carrying high-end brand names AND current styles. The racks are organized neatly according to size, type of clothing, and sometimes by designer. The clothes are clean and in good condition. The dressing rooms could be bigger and do not offer much privacy. I think I have been walked in on 5 times, despite the curtain being completely closed and obviously in use. It has gotten to a point where I hate to try on clothes there, but with them refusing to accept returns, it's a must. The staff is nice and does not hover. You do have to wait to be buzzed in, which often requires ringing the bell and waiting for someone to unlock the door. There really should be a worker assigned to the front desk to buzz in shoppers. read more

Celery is cool with me; and good for me and I'm not talking the vegetable stick y'all. This is a cute girly boutique for the fashionista (vintage and retail) that knows how to look run-way ready without having paid too much money, and that's my kind of shopping when it's comes to vintage and consigned clothing; but the high-end fashion is just as nice - it's all about budget! This boutique is neat and organized with fashionable clothes, shoes and accessories within arm's reach; and what I really like is that the prices are very reasonable and there's a range of prices that would be easy on your budget - well for my budget anyway. Good lighting and entry ways to each room displays neat racks of clothes and accessories, and the associates don't bother you other than greeting you (and very pleasantly I must say) when you walk through the door, which you have to be buzzed in - I don't have a problem w/that. I saw several pieces I wanted but found two really nice crop jackets, one I can wear now during the early Fall season before it gets too chilly. And the other crop jacket is an all cotton floral; so cute and I can't wait to wear it next summer. Love me some Celery; and I don't mind munching on the stick but I prefer the boutique instead.
