It has been a long time since I've been in a Dillard's store. Not since I lived in Tucson where you really needed to park in covered parking which was next to Dillard's practically making you use their entrance to the mall. This store is huge! The amount of women's fashions and clothing was impressive on both floors. They have a huge shoe department, tons of handbags as you walk in from the parking lot entrance. Upstairs seems to go on forever with women's clothing but you can find a children's section off to the left of the escalator. Even the perfume section seemed much larger than I remember. She sampled a lot a fragrances but we didn't come close to testing even half of the available brands. With the increase of online ordering over the years and a lot of stores reducing stock in their brick and mortar stores, we really appreciate a store like Dillard's that continues to offer a vast array of inventory choices in a brick and mortar store. Online ordering is not convenient at all. You can't try it on before you buy it, exchanges are more difficult, not to mention you can't buy something and take it home right away. And too many times, you wait a couple of weeks for an online order only to find out the item is now backordered or worse, discontinued. So I'll say it again, we really appreciate a large store like Dillard's continuing and excelling in the brick and mortar store business model. read more

This is one of my new favorite store as far as shoes and boots. Love the selection and the organization of this Dillard's. I'm happy to visit and shop when I'm in the my area. We don't have this store in our RI area. I've read in previous reviews how some customers are not happy with the costumer service. I haven't experienced that. I've only been to a Dillards 4 times, as we don't have them in Illinois (unless you want to trek down to the Quad Cities or waaay down to Fairview Heights) and it's a shame because they seem to be a very nice store with good quality merchandise and friendly salespeople. I visited the Fayette Mall location, hoping to buy some James Avery jewelry, and was pleasantly surprised to see they had a ton of it here!! I got my peacock ring and I love it!! The woman at the JA counter who helped me couldn't have been nicer. If I ever wind up in Lexington and have more time for shopping, I will definitely come back! Psst...Dillard's! When I left McAlpins they wanted me to work in Dillard's, naturally since that's who bought them out. I said no. I went to Lazarus where the new department store mgr was from Dillard's, Mr. Bob! Loved him, easy to work with. A supervisor from old McAlpins was working at Dillard's would come in Lazarus and beg me to come to their store and work. I stayed there, they changed names to Macy's. Dillard's has always been my department store of choice. For years that was mostly just because it's the department store that my family shopped at when I was growing up. Since the recent remodel, in my opinion, Dillard's is the most modern and upscale looking department store at Fayette Mall. It's visually appealing and I feel like I am in a high end retail establishment when I shop there. There are very few brands that command my brand loyalty. Lancôme is one of those brands and I always shop at the Dillard's Lancôme make-up counter. The counter manager, Tammy, is sweet and professional. It's so great to have a consultant that remembers your beauty preferences and even the things that you chatted about last time that you were there shopping! These past few years the cosmetics department at Dillard's has had some fun special events. This past Saturday I attended one called "Beauty under the Big Top." I purchased a $40 gift card which was my "ticket" for me and my friend to receive lots of goodies during the event. I was entered into drawings for baskets full of cosmetics, my friend and I both received a coupon for a complimentary brow arch, my friend and I had our make-up done by a professional make-up artist, we each got a swag bag with free samples, and after our purchases we both got an additional "surprise" of an Aveda conditioning treatment at the salon. In addition, there is a Lancôme gift with purchase going on now, so after I purchased cosmetics I received a tote, lotion, face wash, lipstick, mascara, and blush. The cosmetic department really went all out with the theme of this event. All of the ladies at the counters were dressed up in the carnival theme. There was a clown on stilts making balloon animals, carnival food like popcorn and cotton candy, games like "mascara ring toss", an artist doing complimentary caricatures, and a photo booth. I went to Dillard's today to find some good buys on next years cold weather wear. The end of winter and end of spring usually means Dillard's has great sales on these items. Today I was looking for a heavy leather coat. I was browsing the wares and was trying to find a real leather coat, but everyone I found was artificial leather. Maybe they had sold out. When finally an employee came to ask me if I needed help, after about 15 minutes, they had no knowledge of the merchandise. I am chalking it up to them working in another section. Normally I enjoy my shopping at Dillard's so I am giving an average review. read more

Most of the employees that work here have been there along time and act like your bothering them when asking a question or needing help. Dillard's wouldn't let me return a pair of dress pants that had the tags with them , the store clerk called for a manager which I told the manager it wasn't about the money i just wanted a pair that fit correctly , she said we wouldn't be able to make the return today , so i replied does that mean you will accept them for return tomorrow or next week? She said no not at all. I said we'll do you want the pants for free so you can make a profit because I won't be able to wear them she said no maybe you can donate them. I bought an expensive pair of UGG boots for $200.00 Tried them on, loved them. Wore them ONE day and they put sores on the top of my feet, the longer I wore them, the more pressure they caused. Went to customer service at Dillards. I explained what happened. The clerk told me rudely that I had worn them so no matter what they would not refund, credit or exchange them. They were in pristine condition. I know UGG stands behind their products so Dillards could return them to the company and give me an exchange. Made a dispute with my credit card company, to no avail. I will NEVER by any footwear from them ever again. They do not stand behind their expensive products that they sell. I now have a pair of $200.00 boots I cannot wear. I am considering not buying all the Estee Lauder that I spend a fortune on there, will probably switch to Macys. read more

I was actually really impressed with the customer service here. I came in because I have a "big girl" job interview on Monday and figured I should show up in something other than chucks and an ironic t-shirt (Criminey. Got hipster?) It turns out I have a mental deficiency when it comes to dressing like an "adult", so when faced with cirucmstances such as these, I go into department stores and beg for help like the idiot that I am. Well apparently I am a really obnoxious size and the ladies had to really hustle to find good clothes. I love being a challenge! But seriously I gotta take my hat off to the ladies in here. So now I am the proud owner of a suit that makes me look like I belong on Wall Street (and not in a cool way either). They made what could have been a hellacious shopping experience very managable. Oh and the whole suit/blouse combo was only $160! Considering some blazers alone cost over $200 that's not a bad gig. Of course they have super expensive stuff there too but also more affordable options for those of us who don't shit gold bricks. Went to the beauty salon for a hair cut with #5 hairdresser (Top Paying). Well was I got was a hair cut that ruined my hair . I have since had to cut all my hair off to correct what she did. My hair was cut with a dull razor, to much was cut out in the process of layering, and my hair looked dry and frizzy.Before this I never had a problem with my soft silky hair. Never again !! I hate this place, and I have for many years. Now, after the remodel it's no better. My latest fiasco was after my daughter wanted a particular watch (an almost $300 watch mind you). I wouldn't buy a watch at that price, so she talked my mom into purchasing it for her birthday. At the register my mom was suckered into signing up for a credit card. At first she thought that the 10% off would be off of the watch that she was purchasing that day but then she found out that the 10% off coupon would actually be mailed with her first bill. She was already purchasing the watch anyway, so it wasn't a big deal. Oh well, maybe she didn't catch that part of the credit card sales pitch. But I myself was asked to sign up for a credit card and was approached with a similar pitch... never was I told the 10% off wouldn't be for that particular purchase. Fast forward a few months later and it was Christmas shopping time. I begrudgingly went to Dillard's with my mom to show her the pair of boots that were on my daughter's Santa list. She had her bill with her and at the top it said 10% off of your next purchase. It wasn't a coupon, just a logo like header at the top of the bill. She was informed that wasn't the actual coupon, the coupon would've been stuffed in the same envelope. No biggie, Mom probably didn't see it in the envelope. Why they couldn't just look up and tell that she hadn't utilized the 10% off that she was promised, was mysterious to me. Especially since the cashier offered to call the customer service to see if she could use the printout as the coupon. That they did, 10 minutes later, the cashier passed the phone to my mom and she again explained to CS.... It was a fiasco. CS refused and then after she hung up the phone the cashier indicated that the 10% offer wasn't valid on Uggs anyway. Really?! After this big fiasco, and she knew what she was purchasing because she was the one who went back to get her size. Macy's is nothing like this. Maybe Dillard's is so hard up for business that they have to push their credit cards and then deceive their customers by enticing them with a meezally 10% off. Ridiculous. read more

So I went here to look for a gift for my wife , I thought I'd look in the shoes for some uggs. So I found a few different uggs and I needed to get the right size , so I looked for an employee. I looked everywhere and finally spotted an employee , but she was checking someone out at the time so I patiently waited in line , while in line she hollars rudely and says to me CAN I HELP YOU ,so I reply yes can I get this size in these uggs please, she responded IM NOT GETTING SHOES YOU WILL HAVE TO WAIT FOR THE OTHER GIRL! So I say ok, and proceeded to wait . After 20 mins and NO OTHER GIRL, I asked if she could possibly grab these shoes for me . She replied NO YOU CAN WAIT FOR THE OTHER GIRL! Went looking for the wireless gel cups features in in style magazine and the ladies there were so eager to leave that they basically told us to get out even though we still had ten minutes before close. Wow, worst customer service I've experienced in a long time. For Christmas, my husband bought me a Coach handbag and wallet from Dillard's. Why he thought he could pick out something I would like when I haven't been able to find one myself for the last few months is beyond me. So here we were, bringing them back the day after Christmas. my husband said we should bring them back to Customer Service, as opposed to going to the handbag department. of course, it was upstairs and in the farthest corner of the store. On the good side, there wasn't a single person there. There was an older lady working the desk and when my husband said we wanted to return something, gave us a disgusted look and asked "did you go to that department first?' we said, no we thought we could do a return at Customer Service. she reluctantly started to "help" us. She was clearly not happy when she saw the amount of the return was nearly $500. she commented that she didn't have that much cash in her drawer and would need to call someone to open the safe. we said that was okay. she proceeded to announce over the intercom for different extensions to call the operator. when they did call, each time she told the person "there's a man here trying to do a return of nearly $500 and i obviously don't have that much cash. can you open the safe?" this happened 3 times before she reached someone who could come open the safe. It took 15min for that person to show up and another 5minutes before they called us back to the counter. After all that, they had to either refund the card that was used in the purchase or issue a gift card. We chose to have our debit card credited. I'm still confused why we waited over 20minutes to have someone open a safe for cash that we were never given. She clearly had our receipt to see the form of payment when she initially saw the amount of the refund. And while we waited, i observed her interactions with a couple of employees who came up to the counter. she was as curt and rude to them as she was to us. I can see why Dillard's would stick her in a very out of the way area of the store but she did not belong working in a department called Customer Service. We took our refund and went to another store to buy my purse and wallet. read more
