Friendly AF? Everyone I interacted with while at this Dillards was super friendly and offered to help me find something. They were great for a weekday at 7p just an hour from closing. They had a HUGE Men's section (as most Dillards do) and I was able to find a great shirt on clearance. That's always the best. I like Dillards for certain clothing items - dresses, shoes, jewelry.. but I prefer the S. Park store over this one. I tend to find more items I like at that location. I encountered some slightly "pushy" sales associates this evening which didn't make me feel warm and fuzzy. I was headed to the counter to return a dress and purchase another when I noticed some clothing I wanted to go look at. When I finished and continued toward the counter, the sales associate was walking away but stopped to see what I needed. I told her I wanted to exchange an item and she responded "there's no one in dresses?" Well that was rude. You're standing right here, did I need to go find someone in Dresses?? I told her I didn't know and proceeded to ask "do I need to return this in Dresses?" She hesitantly said I didn't, but that she was about to go to customer service. I was a little annoyed but didn't push it and instead headed to Dresses where the sales associate was a little demanding, telling me to go to the counter, follow her, etc. I noticed she was about to help someone ahead of me with a return so I told her I saw something I wanted to look at and I'd be over shortly. After she finished the other return, she asked the woman she was helping to fill out something on the screen- email address maybe? But as she waited impatiently, she walks over to me to grab my two items so she could begin my purchase. The woman ahead of me then told her she wanted to do an additional exchange. I listened as she told the woman that her item was not available in the size/color combination she saw online and ushered her to the side to look into it as she helped me lol. I'm not sure if these ladies were ready to go home, or overworked, but we were more than 20 minutes from closing time, and at least while I was in the store, it was pretty slow. It's not a nice feeling to feel rushed for one, and that you're a burden to someone who's there to do a job for two. I usually have a good experience at this store even though it's not my favorite but not quite sure what was going on today. read more

Came in to Northlake on the way home from work and had to drive all the way around the lot to get here - there is no shortcut because men's department is downstairs in back. Retail is retail: some days are diamonds, some days are dirt and this was a good one. After a brief survey of the racks I decided today was going to be accessories: fancy socks and collar tabs. Big fan of Dillards' house brands: Cremieux for linked cuffs and Gold Label for regulars. Nice fabrics that wear well and maintain their form, still look and feel good after dozens of launderings (yea front loader!) But the tabs aren't sewn in so if a person forgets to remove them Brownian motion will take care of that... and so I am here getting collar tabs: assorted lengths in brass are $20 in packs of 12, plastic is 50¢ ea by 30's. read more

Today, as a 47-year-old professional black man, I found myself grappling with an unsettling encounter of racial profiling at Dillard's in Northlake, an experience that cut through the layers of my identity as a husband, father, corporate professional, and small business owner. Despite my accomplishments and community involvement, despite the fact of owning enough land to house 10 malls, this incident served as a stark reminder that systemic biases persist, transcending the boundaries of success. As I walked through the department store, I couldn't shake the feeling of being singled out. Well, 60 seconds later I was confronted by the police and mall security. They said that they had received complaints that I had been wandering aimlessly around the store. I simply replied, have you ever been to a department store with your wife? I had been calling and looking around for her so that we could leave. I was embarrassed and they were persistent. The weight of frustration settled in, contrasting sharply with the principles of fairness and equality that I strive to embody both in my personal and professional life. It's disheartening to confront such situations, especially when they challenge the narrative of progress we hope to see in society. Of course, I refrained from making a purchase. In a disheartening twist, I had to ask my wife, who had made purchases while away from me, to return the items immediately. This added layer underscored the profound impact of racial profiling, as it not only affected my personal shopping experience but also extended to influencing the shopping decisions of my family members. This underscores the urgency for Dillard's to address these issues comprehensively, implementing training and policies that foster an environment where customers, regardless of their background, can feel secure and valued. The hope is that my perspective can contribute to positive change, ensuring that incidents of racial profiling become obsolete within the store's premises. Conversely, I do not make light of the times that we are living in today. I am aware of the rise in smash and grabs or grab and go culture. As a business owner I am empathetic towards those who work in retail because I understand just how brazen people can be. What I also know is that retailers also cannot afford to lose good customers because of poor shopping experience. There needs to be a balance. In light of this experience, I believe there's an opportunity for Dillard's Northlake to enhance their staff training and sensitivity to issues of racial profiling. I sit on the steering committee of the Black Employee Network, and employee resource group, and I hear far too many stories that are similar to mine and while I don't have all of the answers, I do have a few suggestions to offer. Firstly, comprehensive diversity training programs should be implemented, ensuring that employees understand the impact of unconscious biases and how to navigate them. This could include interactive workshops, educational materials, and open dialogues to foster a more inclusive environment. Additionally, promoting diversity in the hiring process can contribute to a more representative and empathetic staff. Encouraging diversity not only at the entry level but also in managerial and decision-making positions can foster a workplace culture that is attuned to the needs and experiences of a diverse customer base. Moreover, establishing clear and unbiased store policies, along with protocols for handling situations where suspicions may arise, can provide guidance to staff and help prevent instances of racial profiling. Regularly reviewing and updating these policies ensures they remain relevant and effective. By taking proactive steps towards creating a more inclusive and culturally sensitive environment, Dillard's Northlake can not only address specific incidents but also contribute to a broader societal shift towards equality. The customer service here is almost 5 stars. I enjoy shopping here when I want quality and a easy shopping experience. I walk in the main entrance at the end of the mall because I like hearing "Welcome to Dillard's " when I arrive with my daughters. I'm looking forward to picking out Easter Sunday dresses. I always seem to find what I'm looking for on my twice yearly clothes shopping excursions. The selections at Dillards are pretty good and, if you time it right, you can find some great sales. This trip brought racks and racks of mainly shorts and short sleeve shirts for 50% off the original sticker and then another 40% off the new price. I loaded up for end of this summer and looking ahead to next! Service is usually decent here as well with offers to start a dressing room for you when they catch you wandering around with clothes draped over your arm. Only exception to this good service was on a previous trip where I had tried on a lot of things in one section and had it all at that register to buy. I then went to another section to try on some dress shirts. Had a nice offer to measure my neck/length which I accepted but got a really snotty look and harrumph of attitude when I said I was taking the shirts to the register where I already had items. Went shopping on the morning of 12/19 looking for some Estee Lauder product as a gift. Started at Belk, clerk was helpful but they didn't have what I was looking for. Then to Macy's, stood around waiting for someone at the counter with no one there to help, after 10 minutes of waiting I left. Went to Dillards,.........totally different experience! Immediate friendly but professional service. I went to this location a couple of days ago in need of a new bra. The woman working in the intimates department, Amelia if I read her nametag correctly, was a literal angel sent from heaven. Not only was she extremely helpful, she went above and beyond in her service, making sure I was properly fitted. She ran back and forth from my dressing room bringing me new things to try on until she helped me find exactly what I needed and was the sweetest woman I'd ever met in the process. She knows her stuff, was a true professional, and I walked away with two new bras that fit me better than anything ever had before. Please give Amelia a big raise for this holiday. She was running the whole floor all by herself and doing it with grace even though she was working very very hard. If I am mistaken on her name, she was working on Thursday, Dec. 8th at around 12:30. I never expected to need to go shopping on a business trip to Charlotte, but found myself with a pair of grey pants from one suit and the grey jacket from another ... unfortunately, they were 2 different shades of grey. ACK!!! Thankfully I noticed the error on day two of a three day business trip so made a quick trip to this nearby Dillard's to try to rectify my problem. I'm a Dillard's fan so when I saw this one was nearby I was thrilled! I ran in and spent a bit of time perusing when a friendly saleswoman came to assist. I wish I'd caught her name. She was patient and gave some suggestions and then left me with my thoughts. I ultimately found something that worked out well and was thrilled to not have to go to multiple stores. I'm not as liberal with my 5-star ratings as I used to be....but my recent trip to NC and a shopping outing with my BFF put a dent in my 3 to 4-star run. Let me start by saying, I HATE SHOPPING! Its just not my thing, but this was one of those rare occasions where all went well and I landed some great purchases. Almost 2 years ago I broke my little toe, no biggie you think, well not so in this case - I have not been able to go out and buy "pretty" shoes in a long time because nothing fits right anymore. My day in Dillard's landed me in the shoe section and to my amazement I found 3 pair of shoes that were so cute and they FIT!! Needless to say the bonus was all were on sale, and to top it off they shipped them to me for $9! The customer service was excellent, except this one guy in the shoe section - he couldn't be bothered with our questions since someone else was in the back retrieving shoes we wanted to try on...oh well, not perfection on that part, but I'm certainly coming back when I'm in the area next time! read more

I purchased a pair of nice Oxfords for an upcoming occasion. Uncertain about the style of the shoe, Jason, my sales associate, recommended I take the shoes home and pair them with my outfit. If I liked them, keep them. If I didn't, bring them back - no harm no foul. So, that's what I did. I tried them on at home and wasn't completely sold on the style. I waited until after the weekend to return the shoes. Upon trying to return the shoes, I think everything is going great. Right? Wrong. The associate at the customer services desk tells me they can't be returned because a section of the sole had been scratched on the edge. Not the entire sole, just the edge of the sole (a decent pair of dress shoes has a very soft sole all around). I tried to explain, but they pretty much told me there was nothing they could do, and it was my problem. I listened to the shoes salesman, and now I'm paying for it. Long story short, after speaking with another associate, and then the manager, I'm back home with a pair of shoes I don't even want. Their final words of wisdom? Sell the shoes on Craigslist. read more

I came in and found the shirts I was looking for after which I scoured the entire top and bottom floor of this store to find an employee to check me out at a service desk. We had a very humiliating experience at the store today. I was looking for nice jeans and went in hoping to get the perfect one on my mind. We looked at Miss Me brand but they didn't have my size. We said thanks and walked out. Our shopping bag from other stores made them suspicious and I understand that they have the right to check. But the store manager had no notion of politeness when she approached us. She bluntly asked for the bag and started pulling out the clothes and went on to ask, "where is the 'Miss Me' jeans ? It was very insulting to ak that question and directly imply that we stole something. :( After they realized that we didn't steal anything, she just said, "thank you". We have lot more respect for the security guard who sincerely apologized to us. I'd never want to go into this store again, and hope this doesn't happen to anyone. read more

Be very careful using your credit card at this store, especially during presale events. I wouldn't do the presale event at all. First, I was promised 2 $20 rewards certificates for doing the presale, and when I finally was able to pick up my items they didn't have a rewards certificate for me. Second, not only did they not give me my rewards certificate, someone in that store fraudulently charged my credit card...get this they charged it on the exact day that I was called and told I could pick up my shoes and charged the exact same amount that my original presale purchase was (which I had already paid for). They tried to hide the fraud thinking I would forget I already paid for the shoes and would just think that charge was for my shoes I purchased. This was my first and only time shopping at Dillards, and this Dillards location made it an absolutely terrible experience. I will never shop there again. read more

I love this Dillard's. If you are looking for ladies shoes, make sure you seek help from Christopher. He has the knowledge you want from a sales person, the enthusiasm for his job, and the personality to make you feel good about your purchase. I went back a couple days after my purchase to see if he could get some scuffs out of my new shoes, not only did he greet me as if we were longtime friends but he made my shoes look incredible. The store is HUGE and new, and attractive. It's a good store, and I like it more than the Belk's and Macy's in the mall. It's not crowded. Maybe because it's on the back of the mall, farthest away from the main entrances (for cars and people), people just don't go to it. It can be your personal Dillard's. read more

Purchased a $600 suit from this Dillards and when I returned a few days later to see if it was done being altered I'm told five minutes before the time posted that the store is closed. A man in a grey suit simply said "No shopping we're closed" and turned back around to ignore me. Despite the only thing that was separating us was the glass door as he let customers out. So I said "I just want to see if something I already purchased is done I don't want to have to make two trips." He completely ignores me and goes back to thanking shoppers who are leaving and keeping the door closed on me. For starters that's illegal to deny me information or access to something I've already purchased especially when it's worth over $600 which makes it a felony. So not only what they did is rude as hell, it's also illegal too! You can't turn away a paying customer during BUSINESS HOURS when you have his merchandise! Needless to say I don't recommend shopping here unless you like getting treated like a second class citizen. read more
