There's a big box of photos in my house my family has owned since before I was born. A lot of snapshots of life before the advent of digital technology. For Christmas I thought it'd be a nice present to upload those pictures and return them to my mom and her siblings. At first I tried to scan them myself with the lifetime service of my college's library. I wouldn't advise anyone else to do that. It was not only daunting by the sheer amount of photos but also, standard commercial scanners aren't equipped to handle all ranges of color and light reflection. Ultimately I settled on finding a professional and Dijifi seems to have a corner on the market. I was skeptical along every step of the way because historically, businesses never have a good reputation when it comes to holding a monopoly. The receptionist was very informative and even recommended one of the cheaper services, as it fits better to my needs. The pictures came out to around 70 cents per photo, which I think is a fair price, and the quality on every photo was exactly like staring at the picture itself (something I couldn't achieve on my college's scanner). I had 600 photos, so that came out to pricey penny. But it was all worth it when I gave out all of the photos at my grandmother's funeral. read more

DiJiFi is pretty awesome. I've had a video here for 20 years that I've never seen from an event I did. It was done on a very archaic format called U-Matic. There are only so many places that can digitize U-Matic tapes, and most of those are out of state and require mailing and so forth. So, I spent a lot of time researching which place I wanted to use. DiJiFi has a great reputation, and they were pretty close in Greenpoint. I didn't really know what to expect or how long it would take ... I just picked up my digitized video. WOW. First, their prices were reasonable, and competitive. Second, there were very easy to work with. And third, the turn around was relatively fast. Sean, the video tech, was great and very friendly. Another customer came in while I was waiting for my video to be transferred to my external hard drive. Their tech guy walked them through their project and the videos files, and explained things in lay man's terms for them. And, I've just viewed the output. It's awesome. They did a really top level job on transferring this. Honestly, when I called this morning to see if it was ready, the way that Sean was talking, I felt like they really took care in their work and were making sure things were just right. The work completed by DIJIFI is outstanding! They retrieved four years of photos from flash drives that were 18-20 years old. The photos were pulled from the flash drives and placed on an easy to use thumb drive which allowed me to instantly view and start organizing photos for family and friends. This company is professional and personable and prompt. My drives were exported and grouped by the original files on the drives which permitted me to easily download and label. I am super happy with the service from DiJiFi, if I could give them 10 stars, I would. I had 9 carousels of slides from a post-college trip 30 years ago. They picked them up from my home, did an excellent job digitizing them, then returned my slides in sealed plastic bags and a small box (I requested that they not return the carousels as they are too bulky to store). Now, I have excellent digital images of my trip and I still have the original slides, but in a much more compact form. Not only did they give me excellent service, they also gave me a great rate. The staff are all very nice and helpful with any and all questions and not only did they repair my tape, but it was ready for pickup after only 3 days of being dropped off. The email updates were also very helpful and I felt like my material was truly being handled with care. They clearly label the file in its own folder on your device and let you look at it to ensure you are completely satisfied. DiJiFi oversaw them entire process beginning to end, was always available for questions, used the most reputable book binder in the business--all things that gave me great confidence. It was obviously a super involved project and then BAM--right in the middle of the project COVID hit. If you value PRIVACY - go somewhere else!!! Worst Customer Service! I brought in childhood VHS tapes to convert to digital. Intake was fine, estimate was expensive, and turn around time was long but they were upfront about it. When the project was finally done the invoice reflected an additional tape that they said was miscounted during the intake. Except when I watched the tapes...that extra tape was actually SOMEONE ELSE'S home movie!!!! Watching someone else's family on vacation was certainly interesting but terrifying that this company didn't even know. Even worse, when I contacted them to inform them they didn't care at all that they were giving private and personal property to the WRONG PEOPLE, they just gave me the run around. It took several "customer service" people and almost two months to issue a small refund. Go somewhere else, your privacy is worth it! read more

I had 8 mini video (can't remember what they are called) and one VHS tape of me and my friends during our college days transferred to .mov I had an amazing experience with them. A bit expensive $300+ but great quality. Everyone there was professional and courteous. I even made some last minute changes. They used Uber Delivery to drop the finished products off to me so I didn't have to trek back there. Helpful hint was to take the 7 and get off at Vernon Blvd - Jackson Ave and walk across the bridge. read more

Although I'm still a fan - I would say be *sure* that you clarify the fees/costs with the team before an order. If not, your wallet may bleed a little. We provided two thumb drives. The reason was solely in case the first drive was full. However, they did duplicates of the same order on both drives and charged us double. The assumption was that we wanted the photos copied twice. It appears to me that Dijify is perfectly set up for the non-professional user, as can be seen by the excellent reviews. My experience with them was terrible. After calling them three times to set up test scans, I was told to simply come when it was convenient. Upon doing so, they did a few flatbed scans at the wrong settings, and then proceeded to charge me a $25 rush fee and failed to even subtract their posted discount for "no post-production/ICE". My lack of acceptance for this was simply ignored. An E-Mail the following day drawing their attention to this was responded to as follows: "We refuse to do any further business with you. I will refund your last order amount of ..." I do thousands of dollars in scanning each year, and have never experienced anything like this. I hope it is just an anomaly. (To help this obstinate owner understand, my problem is not that people were not nice (or patient), but rather that they were incompetent and unaccountable in this case.) read more

I recently used DiJiFi to scan a number of old family photos (~150) and was very impressed by the service and the price. The staff was very communicative and easy to reach, delivery and pick up were timely and the scanned pictures came out very nicely. I didn't give them the last star for one reason and that is because their website may be a bit misleading about the services they provide. When you read the Photo Scanning section of their website, they seem to imply that they will always do some correcting of the photograph to make the scan better than the original. However, I saw none of that in the photos I got back. There were no "originals vs corrected" folders and I have been going through the photos myself and making color adjustments on my own sadly lacking photo editing software. I may be at fault for not specifying that was something I was looking for, but still feel like the website was misleading about this. Basically, expect very good and workable scans of your photos but you will not be blown away by any increase in quality. read more

I am responsible for a tape library of about 1200 items of various formats from VHS to Beta 60, to DV-Cam, etc, and shopped around for quotes from the various NYC digitizers. These guys came in way below their competition so I was a little hesitant at first but since my budget was my primary concern I went with them. I went by their shop and saw their operation and spoke with Jesse and Matt and gave them the green light. We broke it into two batches over a 1 year period and I couldn't have been happier with the results, their professionalism, the quality, and their customer service. Processing time on the first batch was about a month, the second maybe 2. Invoicing was easy and everything worked out well. My main challenge was in getting nearly 10TB of data from them but I ended up just drop shipping 2 and 3TB drives to them which they sent back carefully with my order. they hung onto my data for as long as i needed to ingest it and do a QA check. I've had photos scanned in the past by these guys and recently just had some old 8mm film reels, ranging from the late '50s to the early '70s, digitized by these guys. I was super impressed with the HD transfer that came back. I couldn't believe 55 year old footage could possibly look that good. Matt was very patient with my questions regarding the transfer and file format. He also allowed me to have a thumb drive mailed to them to store the films on, because I couldn't get one before the scheduled pickup. Price was very fair (especially with the combined Yelp deal). However, seeing actual footage of my grandparents and other family members who are long since passed, was priceless. These guys seriously rock!! Walking into their office is like entering a geek's paradise. I found a huge stack of old 8mm films in my parent's basement from when my mom was a kid. I stumbled across DiJiFi while looking for a place to convert them. The process takes a while, so know that going in. But it is really just a testament to how popular they are. I got the video back (on my hard drive) in time for the holidays and it was incredible. My family screens films with a projector for Thanksgiving and this year we watched one of my mom when she was 5, from over 50 years ago! I can't even begin to describe how cool that it is. I recently had a project at work that needed 140+ video tapes to be converted to digital video files. After scouring the 'net looking for companies in the greater NYC area to do this work, I settled on DiJiFi in Brooklyn. Basically every part of my experience with them was outstanding. I delivered the tapes to them in Brooklyn, sorted and labeled, and reviewed everything with them one-on-one. There was a line out the door when I arrived, but they expediently worked through the line and took their time with everyone. Their studio surprised me, as it's much bigger than I had expected, and filled with a gazillion geeky tools and machines. These guys are serious pro's. Long story short, they converted 140+ mixed video tapes (VHS, VHS-C, Hi8, etc, etc) to digital files, named and organized them onto an external hard drive (which they can provide, or you can). The files were all named according to our labels/inventory sheet, and any extra blank space on tapes was edited out. They came in just under budget, and took an extra day or two, which in the end didn't matter too much as the tapes had been sitting in boxes for 15-20 years. In the end, I was very, very pleased with their work. Not only would I use them again, but I've recommended them to friends/clients already (and we just sent them a big box of audio tapes that need to be converted to mp3's). If you need any type of digital transfer/conversion (on audio, video, photos, etc) these guys are professionals. They will deliver what they promise, do it at a fair price, and will be pleasant to work with. read more

I had my parents' entire super 8 film collection from the mid-1960's transferred onto a hard drive by these guys and I could not be happier with the price, the quality and the level of customer service that DiJiFi offered. I tried to do it myself with an old projector and video camera but found a huge loss of quality not being handled by the professionals. But I was curious how they did it and so I went to their lab in Greenpoint and they physically show me step by step how they do it and I was very impressed. I paid about $400 to get 20 rolls of film (1,500 ft) transferred. I called several places in the NYC area and they were the cheapest by far. Several people suggested I go to PAC Color in Manhattan and they quoted me $620 for the same job. And I didn't want to mail all those home movies to some unknown company far away. This was a completely good experience; no problems, no issues. read more

Even my job is really small and with various types of source, it was perfect and in a timely manner as promised. They called me with some issues with my slides. I walked into the office and was treated like I was bringing a child to the doctor. Kind and courteous reception. Understanding that they were taking possession of twenty years of memories and assured me the transfer would be better then the original. Not only did DiJiFi transferred all of the videos, they called me to tell me 3 of my vcr tapes were just children TV shows. In addition they filed all of the videos chronologically. Also, they didn't charge me for transferring two tapes that were blank, they just marked them as blank. I really appreciate that. A few years ago, I gathered some old family photos with the intention of getting them transferred to digital media. Of course, I procrastinated and never seemed to get around to the task at hand. Let me get my complaint out of the way. It was a hike for me to get to DiJiFi. I know now that they have a service to pick up the film. I wish I had known that at the time. Other than that, I am so happy with the service I got from DiJiFi. I am only on the East Coast part of the time and they were very patient with me. I had a range of media to convert digitally, VHS, film, 8mm, and some other cassette I couldn't identify. The 8mm film was shot by my mother in 1969 and I can't believe they turned out so well! I had 12 reels of 8mm, and at first, only transferred one reel. The DiJiFi people were very cooperative looking over the film and helping me to assess whether to convert the remaining reels. When I was in a rush to complete some digitizing from multiple media, DiJiFi was very helpful. They were easy to negotiate not only a acceptable time table, and also a reasonable fee for this rush job. My editor was very happy with the results by DiJiFi and to receive the digital feed on time. read more
