Visited again April 17 2026..see my receipt as always…read more Yes..obsessed with the shrimp! Ordered the surf and turf that had tri tip and humongous shrimp! They seasoned everything perfectly! I noticed that they really want to please their customers and check on them frequently! Really nice food. Most to go so I don't have to cook! The outdoor seating was perfect for my puppy. They even brought him a dish for his puppy snacks and water. Freddie was wonderful again and the cooks/chefs take pride in what they are serving! Full bar and live music as well. Great experience!

I was excited to try Hooligan's this year on St. Patrick's Day because it's an Irish pub and I…read morethought it would be fun to go with my boyfriend, but it wasn't much like we expected. It was really busy and loud, but I didn't mind that too much because it's probably a very hectic day of the year for them. What I didn't like so much was the service. When we walked in, nobody greeted us, they just looked at us and we stood there waiting for 2-3 minutes, then assumed we must be in the wrong area to get seated. We then went through the back door, but that was obviously wrong as well, so we went back to the front and after another couple minutes of us looking around, finally a woman told us to sit anywhere and we would be helped soon. We sat down at a table and 30 seconds later she came over and said "What do you want" and we were confused because we had no menus and no time to decide what we wanted. She went to get us menus and gave us another 30 seconds to decide what we wanted, then passed us off to another waitress because she couldn't answer our questions herself. The next waitress was fine, she helped us and the service was quick. We asked if we could substitute fries for mozzarella moons with the fish & shrimp basket, and substitute fries for onion rings with the burger. She said yes but it will be +$4 for mozzarella moons and +$2 for onions rings. We only got 3 mozzarella moons with the fish & shrimp basket so I would say it's not worth it to substitute those for over $1 each. Now for the food, it looked amazing, I'll give them that! However, it didn't taste great. The fish and shrimp were so bland, they needed a lot of salt and the texture wasn't for me. I love fish & chips and have had it many times, and sadly, this time was the worst fish & chips I've ever tried. The burger was great, though! Kind of crazy to me that it costs $1 to add a slice of cheese, though. Now for the sides, the onion rings tasted almost burnt, definitely over cooked. Not great at all. The mozzarella moons were fine, they were pretty standard and had a nice cheese pull at least. I like that they gave us ranch, ketchup, tartar sauce, & cocktail sauce without charging us extra, so that's a plus. Overall, I left this restaurant feeling disappointed because my boyfriend and I don't go out to eat very often (usually once every month) and I wanted a great experience but it wasn't what we expected. It wasn't the worst experience I've ever had, but definitely not the best, and I don't like leaving negative reviews, but hopefully this can give some insight to someone on my experience here.

Went back for another lunch and it didn't disappoint. Yes, this place can be confusing because…read morethere are no servers and you have to order at the bar. I've watched many people seat themselves at tables and leave 10 minutes later because no one asked them what they wanted. Yes, the decor is stuck in the 90's, but I actually like it. The double smash burger I had was excellent. The bun they use is awesome and they charred the patty perfectly. It tasted way better than Fleming's Prime Steakhouse burger I had last week, that's for sure. The thick steak-cut fries are awesome, too. Over salted but nothing a cold beer can't cut through. Highly recommend their smash burger.

If it wasn't for this "mission," there's a good chance I wouldn't have wandered in. I LOVE Sutter Street, but honestly I don't live nearby and don't have many reasons to come here. That said, I'm thankful for the mission and glad I dropped by. It's a super cute place and the bartender had a nice relaxed chill vibe to her. This is where I'd normally drop her name and give her kudos - but I didn't get her name. I thought her name would be on the receipt, but it wasn't! I assume her name isn't "Shift Night N" anyway, which would be weird - but that's what is listed for "server". Anyway... the burger... I liked it. I liked it a lot. I was not asked how I wanted it cooked (not expected or demanded by me) - but an observation that I toss in for comparison purposes. It was cooked to a solid medium, which is fine with me. Caramelized onions were standard - nice - but the tomato and lettuce were listed as 'optional' - and the bartender (Shift Night N) asked me if I wanted them. I opted in. The bun was above average - definitely a notch above the typical mass-produced buns often used elsewhere. I opted for sweet potato fries. They had good flavor. Personal preference-wise... I would have liked them to be cooked a smidge more. If/when I come back, I'll probably ask them to be crispy-er. Overall, thumbs up! I wouldn't hesitate to come back and try other things on the menu. #burgers

I really did not feel like going somewhere fancy like I usually do in Tahoe. After searching around…read morea bit I decided to come here given the large food menu and the decent cocktail selection based on the menu online. I am so glad I did and will be adding this to my rotation. I got lucky since they still had st pattys specials. I love scotch eggs and a good potato leek soup. Everyone was super attentive and friendly and they checked in on me regularly. I've never been a big pub person but they do it well with lots of spaces. I managed to get a table by the window so it was a smidge more quiet. The place was pretty packed by 7. I can't believe I've skipped this spot so many times. Sometimes your girl just needs to put away her champagne and touch some grass lol. I enjoyed it so much I came can the next day. I'm a creature of habit and I love good food so this will be part of my rotation. So glad I ventured out! The drinks are strong and heavy with a pretty good draft selection as well. Potato leek soup: so good I ordered it 2 days in a row. Asked for no sour cream dollop the second time. Scotch eggs: not easy to find and my goodness so delicious. The only time a scotch egg is bad is if the egg is overcooked. Not here! Calamari: i juicy and tender chunky pieces mmmmmm. Reminds me of the calamari in Australia. Cottage pie: didn't do the shepherds pie since I generally don't eat lamb. Pretty much the same with cheese on top. I do want to take my part Irish hubby here since I've never had shepherds pie made with lamb, even in Australia it was made with beef. The only dessert option is bread pudding so I skipped. But I will try it on a day I'm not too stuffed, which might be pretty hard with the portion sizes! Yummy food that's more than abundant in portion size, and a big enough variety to suit most palates. Drinks are equally big and tasty. Wonderful friendly attentive staff with the biggest smiles. What more can you want? See you next time!

The food and drinks, however, were a little bit of a let down. -Margarita: 3/5. Didn't taste the tequila and was too tart. -Paloma: 5/5. Still great with the fresh grapefruit. -Calamari: 6/5. Still outstanding. HUGE portion of sliced calamari steak perfectly cooked with a horseradish forward cocktail sauce (love) and tartar sauce. So big was our shared appetizer AND my entree. -Classic Burger: 4/5. Sadly the burger was overcooked this time and so was dry. -Home-cut Fries: 7/5. OMG. These fries are outstanding and truly addictive. I will go back just to get these and make sure I can take the extras home bc again the portion is HUGE! Macduffs is rated high for a reason. Do yourself a favor and give them a try as soon as you can. We will def go back!
