Peanut butter pie was out of this world
    Robert P.

Amazing! I went solo and sat at the bar. This place even in winter sounds like you need a reservation so be aware. Staff were great and I could not believe how fast the food came out! Incredible! Everything is and tastes homemade. Pasta a little Aldente just how I like it. Chicken was crust and juicy while mozzarella was fresh. Peanut butter pie was incredible and actually had a couple blueberries on them. Compares to the best Italian I've had back in the motherland (New Jersey)

I have been to the Market and wanted to try the restaurant so we went. here to celebrate a birthday on a Saturday night in November. We made a reservation and our table was ready when we arrived. The restaurant is on the smaller size and the tables are close and when it is busy it is pretty loud so hard to carry on a conversation but it is a lovely setting. First off I will say our service was excellent. Attentive and very friendly and she had lots of great recommendations. We had the cheesy garlic bread as an appetizer and it was excellent. We had four different dishes, the spaghetti was good, shrimp and pasta was excellent, the eggplant parm was excellent and we had another pasta dish that was very good. For dessert we had the chocolate cake and tiramisu. The chocolate cake was excellent, the tiramisu was good. Overall it was a good experience, not an inexpensive meal for sure but I would say it is worth a try and see what you think.

A little treasure in Rehoboth Beach. Delicious, authentic Italian with fresh, homemade pasta you can really taste. Everything was flavorful and well-prepared. Definitely a place I'll be coming back to.

This was by far the most expensive meal we had while visiting this area. They are also a bit snooty in their treatment if you don't have a reservation - so I recommend making one. Because we didn't have one, we had to wait about 45 minutes to be seated - which was fine. We had nothing else to do with our evening. Once seated, the service was good. And there was some good selections for us to pick from. I'm trying to get away from salads all the time and eat more protein. So I could have done salad - but I went with the rainbow trout. Hubby was feeling hungry I guess as he ordered an appetizer - garlic bread. I think they may have brought complimentary bread out eventually as they did for the table next to us - but we went big. And the garlic loaf was BIG. There was plenty to take home and have for another meal. It had sundried tomatoes on it and roasted garlic - which I ate since hubby didn't appreciate those. I also had a small piece and it was delicious. For the entree, hubby got chicken parm and also 2 meatballs. As I said, I got the rainbow trout which came with the cooked greens and grains - neither of which had much flavor. But the rainbow trout was nicely cooked. I got the WHOLE fish as my photo shows which made the dish more interesting. I'm fine lopping off the head so I just removed it, set it aside, and ate the entire fish. Hubby did a good job of eating the chicken and one meatball - but left the spaghetti. Needless to say, he did not get an ice cream cone after this meal. The service was good but as I said it was the most expensive meal we ate all week. And not just because of the added meatballs and appetizer. However, as most restaurants, we saw the menu posted before eating here so we knew what we were getting into Was it worth it - no. We paid for the concept, packaging and location. But we're on vacation so we were fine living high on the hog. Would we eat here again - no. There were other restaurants we would and in fact did repeat rather than this one.

Really likes DiFebos market so I decided to try their restaurant across the street. Service was really slow but the atmosphere was great. Bombaloni was fantastic. Edit - this review was meant for Bethany beach location, not rehoboth beach

Well I returned and everything was behind amazing. The shrimp and lobster carbonara topped with lumb crab was perfection. The gnocchi sauce was substituted for bolognese. The staff were extremely attentive and kind. So much was eaten, there was no room for dessert. The restaurant had decent crowd but I had a reservation. There was barely a wait for food that came out with such great flavor. Again I cannot wait to go back.

    Ravioli with meatball

I went with a party of 7. For an appetizer, we all split the cheesey garlic bread (we wanted to be able to eat dinner). The bread was delicious though and I wouldn't have turned down more. For dinner, I ordered the ravioli with meatball. The raviolis were great and tasted just like the ones we get homemade from Brooklyn, and the meatball was good too. I was most impressed with Bob's red sauce. I haven't had sauce that good in a long time. Though I found it odd to get just one meatball with the dish- and it was four bucks, which in my opinion is a bit much.

After many a weekend spent and many a restaurant tried we welcomed new eats at The Blue Hen. This menu is intriguing- small, tight but inventive- we were so excited to eat here! Was wonderful in having a table ready when we arrived for at-will, no reserve seating at about 7pm. Quiet corner. Promptly greeted by our server. She was gracious, so nice, and helpful our whole dining time. We ordered readily, in Mom's overwhelming hunger, lolol. Ordered the Lobster Toast and the Yellow Tomato Gazpacho, as starters. Amazingly accommodating on our order of this gorgeous gazpacho. We were given 2 bowls to split this tomato beauty. A few spoons of smooth & sweet, acidic, flavorful, gripping. Could have ordered more! The Lobster Toast- Accompanied by a concoction of radish, sesame, bitter-sweet....stunning bites in this salad. Unfamiliar but pronounced in the combination. Well done. The lobster- Absent. Wished for an open faced variety. Or at least a dish that advocates for lobster. Charge more. Bigger brioche. Pronounce those beautiful lobster bites in presentation. The lobster as served, was not the star. Ok, a moment for cocktails though- Whoa. Killer kill. The Church Girl Martini. Blessed be in evil, haha This Girl was too tasty in being that strong. So good in flavor, unbeknownst combos. A definite Watch Yourself and watch out for!! Entrees.....well when ordering was told the Sea Bream was out- disappointed on that. The entree menu is small, so should keep available. And when we entered the restaurant it was busier after we sat....so why out of a primary fish already?? So decided ahead- Mom had the Burger and I had the Crab Cake Sandwich. The burger- smashed, but still big patties. A perfect medium. Good overall. The bacon jam was an ask on the side. The bacons were really spicy lardons and were delicious. My crab cake sandwich. Hmmm. You are a sandwich. For the pricing, it's not there. Ate the Lumps, but the rest of the sandwich should I say was in the Dumps? Nothing to be said of standout. Would recommend putting this crab cake as a stand alone entree with accompaniment. Forget the bun. Overall food gets a 3.75. Drinks, environment and service a 4. The Blue Hen is not Spent. But also is not the Top Chicken.

Now we know why it's tough to get a seat; this is quality dining that brings customers back again and again. Ben and Diane (mixologist/hostess respectively) have been the owners for two years. I can't make any judgement about the prior ownership but I can say the current owners have nailed it. It was one of the best dining experiences we've had in a long time. We sat at the bar and from the outset Ben made us feel comfortable and he obviously appreciated us as customers. The cocktails were exceptionally prepared. It's obvious he is not merely a bartender and is proud of the special attention and customized twists given to some very traditional cocktails--Sazerac, Manhattan, cosmo. The cream based crab soup was hearty and the seasoning was well balanced. It was a great start. My partner had the fish special and I had the short ribs as entrees. Both were spectacular. Ben had told us that "if this were going to be your last meal, have the short ribs." It wasn't our last meal but his assessment was accurate. I can't recall having short ribs that just seem to melt in your mouth. We were going to defer on dessert but opted for a variation of a flourless chocolate cake with caramel topping. Served warm it was the perfect end to a perfect meal. It's obvious that Ben and Diane have assembled a team that is as committed to excellence as are the owners. We've already made reservations or our next visit. Can't wait!
