Decided to go here based on the ratings and the appeal of the visuals. Order the spicy shrimp appetizer and fajitas. While both were good, my initial response after each bite was just so so. The tastes just didn't match the presentation. I've had better iterations of both dishes at smaller, less fancy venues. I cannot recommend Diego's Spirited Kitchen enough we got the carne asada- it was enough steak to feed 3 or 4 people, no exaggeration it was amazing. Refreshing guacamole. We also got the chipotle chicken dish and I will be dreaming about that sauce tonight and many nights.... took photos post eating because we just could not wait to dive in. Overall, I'm surprised this place gets so many amazing reviews. It was mediocre, really. I mean, its good, but nothing to write home about. Service is kinda hit and miss sometimes. You can get some good food here, but its not quite as good as some of the reviews make it sound. I don't know. Excellent for every time. I've only been here for lunch, but but tried dinner today which was amazing. I had the grilled salmon which was delicious. I was so excited to try Diego's after reading all the reviews as we love Mexican food. We arrived early about 4:20 to beat the dinner rush and were seated promptly. We ordered food and drinks within 10 minutes of arriving. Our waiter wasn't exactly friendly. From this point on we watched 4 other tables with a different waiter be seated and get their drinks before us. We had been here 30 minutes at this point. Our waiter was no where, so we asked the other one to look into our drinks. He wasn't sure what had happened and took our order again. With two little ones we also asked about our meals. The helpful waiter brought us our drinks and said he would look into our meals. Our original waiter sudde my came with our meals which were cold! With the prices they charge per meal I expected hot food. Our original waiter was extremely rude when we let him know that we were just going to go ahead and leave, mind you we have never left a restaurant before. He asked what he could do to fix it and I told him we just wanted a hot meal. He said he could do that but seemed very upset and frustrated with us. If I original waiters demeanor had been different we may have stayed. The one who did help us was lovely. We understand they got busy, but it's not OK to leave a table sitting for 30 minutes waiting for the drinks and then serve them cold food. read more

While on vacation in Central Oregon our family tried this spot for dinner. Some of us ordered fajitas and other Mexican dishes while some opted for the Cobb Salad or a hamburger. All of it tasted good. The service was outstanding! Our server was attentive, helpful and friendly. Would really love to give this review 5 stars but it was so noisy inside we could hardly have a conversation. Should've ordered a megaphone on the side! Seriously, great spot for good eats. Our server was enthusiastic and super helpful with which entrees were favorites. I had a no rules margarita and coconut mango shrimp tacos. Portions were big and drinks were strong. The chips and salsa that came to the table were delicious and promptly eaten. The green rice was a nice addition that I had never tried before. Restaurant is kind of small and so can be kind of a tight squeeze but is lit well and intimate and you can easily talk with your table mates without yelling. read more

Visiting here in Bend/Redmond, we wanted to find a great Mexican Restaurant. The reviews here were good, so we decided to try it out. We were a little disappointed by the menu as the Mexican dishes were limited because the menu included a mixture of Mexican, American, and other. I ordered the Carnitas and my wife ordered the Spinach/shrimp enchiladas. The dishes were very delicious and plentiful for portions. I would love to come back, just wish they had more Mexican food than splitting it with other genre's. The food is very good, and cooked well. read more

Had a great experience. Friendly and courteous staff. Quick service. Awesome salsa. The top shelf margarita may not have been pure tequila. The menu is eclectic, and almost seems Mexican inspired American fare. I had chicken fried steak, which is not a typical item on my plate, and very much enjoyed it. The breading was crispy, and the steak was tender without any (ok one) annoying bits of gristle. The smoked jalapeño-chorizo gravy (the reason I ordered it) was everything I'd hoped for. Was surprised by seasonal veggies on the side, but they were cooked perfectly so it was a nice surprise. Did I mention the salsa was awesome. The coconut shrimp tacos enjoyed by my spouse were great. They were bite-sized, lightly battered coconut shrimp with a mango salsa served in flour tortillas. Three. Black refried beans and an unusual serving of lightly seasoned rice. Not the Mexican version. Cabbage, pepper, carrot slaw. I had the arrabbiata spaghetti. It was a generous portion. A well crafted sauce makes or breaks this dish and I thought the sauce was quite good with a hint of smokiness. Perhaps the tomatoes were roasted. The waiter asked me how spicy I would like it and I appreciated the extra touch (I asked for mild and it was- but you never know. Next time I'm going to order it with more heat). The service was courteous and friendly. Dropped by the table several times. The menu was heavily weighted toward TexMex but was quite eclectic. Most dinners seemed to be having TexMex but there was lots of other dishes to choose from. A nice meal with no fuss. read more

we ate here the night before an early flight our of the redmond airport. the brisket was delicious. the tortilla chips and salsa were authentic. the salads were fresh and tasty. I am sure the beer would have been good too but we passed on that. this may mean that bend (or portland?!?!) cultural trends are migrating to redmond. whether that is a good thing or a bad thing undoubtedly depends on your outlook on development and gentrification. but even if you are phisophically against eco-yuppiedom and all that it stands for, it is not against the law to enjoy some refined Mexican fusion once in a while. read more

Diego's has great food, the nicest servers and staff, and some strong margaritas. I do think it's a tad over priced, but I've always loved everything I've tried there.
