As visitors from Carlsbad, California, my wife, daughter and I identified Diego's Spirited Kitchen as the place to go in Redmond. We have had the opportunity to try wonderful restaurants domestically and abroad, and we were absolutely shocked to find this gem in Central Oregon. It was so good, we went back the next night to continue the experience. This is something we have done only once before in all of our travels....it was in Paris in 2004....because we like to explore and find new culinary experiences. But Diego's broke that 16 year streak. Here's why. The food and the service. While most restaurants do the same old same old, Diego's takes a recipe and creates something different and unique. On our first visit, we asked our waiter, Roberto, about his recommendations. He recommended the Pork Osso Bucco and the Famous Mexican Pork Carnitas. Because I'm a fan of Chicken Mole, he recommended that too. That's what I ordered, my wife got the Pork Osso Bucco and my daughter wanted the seafood tacos. All were gourmet heaven. So was the Creole Barbecue Shrimp appetizer. After we left, we kept thinking about Roberto's "second course" meal....the Pork Carnitas! The first course was the night you had it in the restaurant; the second course was taking the left overs...and there were plenty...and making carnitas and scrambled eggs the next morning. So, we came back the next night for the pork carnitas. They, too, were heaven. The first and second course! My wife and I split them while our daughter ordered the Tostada Shrimp Ceviché. We kept raving about how fabulous everything was. Our experience the second night was the same as the first night. Excellent. Food was excellent. Their recipes were excellent. And Roberto was excellent. And, they were COVID compliant! We now understand why Diego's comes up first on Yelp reviews. We cannot wait to go back to experience something very special. Located in the heart of old town Redmond we found this incredible authentic mexican /New American restaurant! We were ordered the gulf shrimp ceviche which came plated on large tostadas piled into avocado ans shrimp ceviche towers perfectly seasoned an fresh! We also were delightfully surprised at the Chef's execution of the seafood penne pasta! Rich and savory and perfectly seared gulf shrimp and sea scallops with generous lumps of crab meat! OMG! Any seafood lovers dream! It was all at once buttery but light and a hint of crab innards! We also ordered the Carna Asada which was accompanied by grilled jalapeño peppers and green onions! Always a go to when I'm in Redmond for work. Excellent upscale food in a variety of styles, don't be afraid to order whatever piques your fancy because I promise it will be delicious. As I said to the bartender tonight "I've never had a bad meal yet" to which he replied "it won't be tonight either". He tells the truth, because the next dish on the menu I tried was just a fire as the first time I came. Absolutely do not miss the fresh margarita, they squeeze the limes for every single one as they make it. And for food do not skip the coconut prawns app, the carnitas (if it's not world famous it should be) and any of the specialties. I've been upset the last six months because it's a thirty minute wait, but I promise it is 100%worth every second. read more

So this was an amazing experience. Flew in late, got there at 935pm and they close at 10. Wil was amazing as he got us in that late and suggested THE BEST margarita ever. Then Lorenzo served us some of the best seafood Mexican food dishes we've ever eaten. Highly recommend! read more

Rude service and multiple hairs found in our food! When we pointed out the hair in the food to our server he didn't even apologize and/or acknowledge that this was unacceptable. Truly unbelievable and disappointing experience considering we drove quite a distance based on our resort's recommendation. We will never go back. read more

Located in old downtown Redmond, this little gem of a restaurant serves a surprising mix of entrees. The selections vary from more traditional Mexican plates to pasta and burgers. I wish there were half ratings because this should be rated a 3 1/2 stars. I had the dungeoness Crab enchiladas. These were excellent and more than I could eat. Friends had the ceviche, excellent and a pork stuffed ravioli with a cream sauce-a weird combo of flavor that didn't work for me. Very busy restaurant. Get there early. They have a patio out back. The restaurant is dark inside and long and narrow, so seating is a little awkward. Friendly staff and busy atmosphere. read more

They served me an excellent flat iron steak... One of the best I've had... On top of an equally wonderful salad. Sadly I decided I need to give up on blue cheese... It was great quality dressing and blue cheese. While I would not order this as presented again... I would order it and swap out the dressing and cheese, which they will gladly do. read more

Great Food! Every time I come through Redmond from Portland I have to stop here. The Gordo Loco Burrito is my favorite!!

Super delicious little Mexican spot that's great if you're in Bend waiting for a flight! It's under 10 minutes from the airport and has a nice casual vibe. It's definitely pricey--a little too pricy in my opinion, but Redmond doesn't offer a ton of options if you want to be able to sit down and experience good service (they definitely have great service) and good food. The food was good and filling with good size portions. Our appetizer of Creole BBQ Shrimp was just a wee bit overcooked, and coming from Charleston, I'm a pretty big proponent of cooking fresh shrimp JUST enough so that you can taste the sweetness of the meat. And so that it doesn't start approaching the consistency of rubber. The sauce on the shrimp, however, was so rich and delicious. I could eat that sauce on a lot of things. Drinks are pretty pricey here, so if you want cocktails with your dinner be prepared to spend at fair amount. Food was pretty good, but the price doesn't really match the experience. I don't regret eating there, but I do find myself thinking of other meals that I paid less for and enjoyed more. read more

We went again, this time for lunch. It was as good as I remembered. They had a very good mild salsa that was a bit sweet -- our family just loved it. We shared the arroz con pollo again, which was really tasty. Also, I was glad to see that the lunch prices were quite a bit lower than dinner. It felt much more reasonable. Great restaurant in quaint little Redmond. Good ambience, great service and awesome food. Kids loved their pollo chipotle and fish tacos. I liked their great margarita that was simple with just Don Julio, orange liqueur and lime. The chips and salsa were fresh and flavorful. Great food, good service and many, many menu options. Wouldn't exactly call it true Mexican food, but rather Mexican-inspired. Lots of "spirited" options, too, but only by the glass. Try the Tex Mex egg rolls and table side guacamole to start. The pork osso buco was a big hit with a couple members of our party. The Acapulco Burrito could seriously feed three. I liked the crab enchiladas, but would order something else next time. Opt for the back patio, especially if you have a group. read more

Great Food, Wonderful Ambience, & Great Service My 8 year old son and I went here to eat lunch after an appointment downtown. It was a bit hard to find but then again, it could have just been me as I am lousy with directions, even with using the gps on my phone. I had the two enchilada combo w the beef option. My son had cheese quesadilla. Both tasted great and even my picky son tried poking my finger when I tried to finagle another quesadilla piece. The side salsa that came with my enchiladas was really yummy. It tasted very different from normal salsa and very fresh. If it wasn't salsa, please let me know what it was. The service was prompt and the waiter that gave us complimentary nacho chip baskets with salsa dip took it upon himself to make sure it was the mild salsa. He must have noticed I had a small kid with me and deduced that I may want the not so spicy option on the salsa. Just small things that make you know he paid attention and made a calculated guess. Diego's is an awesome restaurant, probably my favorite in redmond. All their food is amazing and they're super fun. They have lots of variety and are helpful and try to seat everyone quickly. I ordered a quesadilla once and another time the seafood pasta which was phenomenal. Also try ordering a lava flow nonalcoholic... so good!! read more

We have been here quite a few times and this time was probably not the best experience we have had. The food is always consistent. The carne asada is my favorite. Stopped in for a late dinner and was taken off guard by how good everything is here. Being from Austin, I'm no stranger to outstanding Mexican food or BBQ... and was looking to see how Oregon compared. I didn't have high expectations. The menu is quite complex and daunting to look at, there's no evident structure other than appetizers, entrees, specialties, etc., so be prepared to spend a while looking over. I will say though, everything I read sounded pretty good! I ended up getting the texmex spring rolls. Pulled pork, pepper jack cheese, rolled up and fried with a covering of housemade BBQ sauce?! We had a great dinner at Diego's during our recent visit to Redmond. The wait wasn't long for a Saturday night, but boy was it worth it. The service was prompt and efficient and the food was really terrific. I had a seafood chile relleno and my husband had to ranch steak. We just picked up a takeout order today from Diego's. They came out to the car, ran the payment and brought out the food & drinks with a smile. Can't ask for better service! And all we can say for the food is WOW, that Wow Burrito special for $10 is incredible! Been to Diego's a couple years ago. Was ok. They pride themselves on fresh margaritas not from a mix. Just returned to them for lunch. My how things have changed. The prices are outrageous. I don't remember them being so high when I was there last. The daily specials are $20. The day I stopped in was burritos. Seriously...$20 for a burrito? No way. Not even close to worth it in taste or value. Margaritas are $13 and up depending on tequila selected and other options. One drink, one glass. Another establishment I found is the same price and quality but the glass comes full plus's a tumbler with approx two more drinks is also included. I'm just no longer interested in going to an overpriced, non impressive place when there are 3 more establishments very close that offer super deals and very comparable, if not better quality, food. read more

Went here on a busy Sunday afternoon. The place is very hip and stylish. It is clear they think a lot of themselves and others must as well judging by the crowd. But, this place is in Redmond, not downtown Portland - foodie capital of the PNW! We were excited to try this place as our family from Bend told us it was very good. The menu is not extensive but offers something for everyone. Our meals came to us nice and hot but a bit boring - mediocre at best. The cocktails were okay. Service took forever - over 45 minutes. The prices are high and it is extremely noisy due to concrete flooring and loud music. Not our idea of a relaxing place to enjoy a great meal. read more
