I've been to this store a few times. This time, I specifically came for a tumbler, for daily water intake. The choices were insane! Stanley galore everywhere..I mean, geeeez, an entire wall plus additional shelves. Then there were the new trending brands as well as the OGs such as Yeti. I definitely skipped all of these trending brands and went for one that actually looked nice and served the purpose. They do maintain the organization of the items pretty well, so kudos to that. The staff on the floor were nice in guiding me to the sections with the tumblers. I want to give more stars, but the checkout line was soooo slow. One customer decided she wanted to go back to the floor and grab another item. Instead of letting me go ahead or taking me on another register or calling another employee, the employee just had me stand there waiting....I literally had one item. +Clearance sales are great; you can find some nice deals on some of the racks. They usually have large clearance sales outside in front of the store and the parking lot throughout the year. +They have a large sections for golf, lacrosse, baseball, and soccer. +The store layout is pretty simple and nice. There are fitting rooms in the middle of the store. -Their fishing section is a bit limited to freshwater only. -Small hunting section. Overall, I'm an outdoors guy so I prefer Bass Pro Shops or Cabela's over Dick's. However, this Dick's is close to Ashburn and provides decent eye shopping opportunity. read more

Went in on a Saturday evening to purchase athletic wear for my daughter. Two shorts - same item - same color- different size were priced differently. When I inquired at checkout the manager informed me it was because they were a different color, when I responded that they are the same color she gave me a dirty look, shook her head and walked away. All I was looking for was an apology as something was clearly mis-marked. Be prudent when purchasing from this location - manager was rude, condescending and disrespectful. read more

Saw they had a coupon banner on the website that said 25% off any purchase this weekend, online or in store. Went to buy some .22 ammo and the register lady said "Sorry not applicable to ammo" "You'll get 10% off instead" If you give 25% off socks and sunglasses and snorkels, why does ammo not get the same treatment? I told her some various ammunition had cards on the shelf in front of them with discounts as deep as 40% off, although none were .22. She said .22 is the most requested so they don't need to discount it. read more

I went to return my bike around 4:45pm today on sep 9 2020. Went to cashier and lady told me that bike has 24 hours return policy. I was sure to ask when I bought the bike from fair lakes location about the return policy. She immediately called store manager and he stated I can not return it. There was no written policy stated on the receipt that I cant return the bike and didn't say anything about 24 hours. I would've think twice if I knew about 24 hours return policy 10 days ago when I purchased it!!! Also I felt that manager was not professional enough to talk to customer with no proof with return policy!! read more

I was looking for a boxing bag and stand. A young lady named Eryn answered my phone call . She promptly had the boxing equipment placed by the front entrance inside the store for pickup. The customer service there is completely horrible plus they don't have employees that no knowledge about the field of work that they are working at for instance the lodge you get a guy that doesn't know anything about hunting or fishing it makes no sense their prices are ridiculous Walmart is by far way cheaper I would not recommend this place to anyone read more

Very crowded on opening day, but the lines at the register moved very quickly. The management also seemed very adept at dealing with the large volume of people and any issues that popped up. I'd like a better selection of team paraphernalia (not just Nationals, Capitals, etc.) but otherwise they had a really wide selection. My one complaint has nothing to do with the store: Dulles Landing is the worst name for a shopping center that happens to be at the end of a runway. Please don't land there! read more

I go here every couple months, at least, to buy one thing or another. It has been okay so far. However, the last time something happened that was a little disturbing. I bought five items, three's Dick's brand soccer balls, a Team Bag, and a football. The total seemed a little higher than what I had calculated in my head. I always get a printed receipt (vs. e-mailed) and check it for accuracy anyway, but this time I was particularly interested. The soccer balls rang up over the price marked on the box by a $1 each, and the Team Bag rang up $3 over the price marked on it. So, I told the cashier. The manager was standing there and she said (I am paraphrasing): 'Oh, they are Dick's brand [the Team Bag wasn't, actually], so we can adjust the price, but if it had been a name brand, we wouldn't be able to'. Like she's doing me some sort of a favor by adjusting the price to what was marked on the item. So, I said, "No, whatever item you are selling, the price on the receipt needs to match what is marked on the item". She then repeats what she said. And I repeated what I said. She still didn't seem to get it. Anyway, check your receipt in this store, and actually in every store. read more

Dicks Archery Purchased a bow for my grand daughter. Ralph in the lodge spent over an hour setting the bow up. He took extra time in showing her the basics of how to shoot. This allowed him to set the bow up just for her. It was a pleasure working with him. It was also apparent he really enjoyed seeing her learning so quickly. I think he was just as impressed as I was. This Dicks is probably my least favorite in the area as its literally half of what Dick's Sporting Goods should be or at least what I've been used to in the past. I've never really found anything that I desired or needed that I couldn't get at Walmart right across the street. Cashiers couldn't be nicer and are probably the most positive thing about the store. Most of the items in the store I found to be overpriced and getting rid of the hunting/firearms section completely was a mistake. This Dicks is also probably the most empty in customer population in the area, whenever I've gone into the store there's typically me and ten (or less) other people shopping here. Overall, this Dicks is a disappointment as I was excited to finally have one in area. I guess I'll have to stick to Cabella's and the other Dick's Sporting Goods in the area from now on. read more

Customer Service? They have no idea what that means. It's the day after the Capitals won the Stanley Cup. Hooray! So I go into Dicks to get a t-shirt. They have them set up on tables as you walk in. There are two store employees watching people check out the shirts. I pick one up and look around for a price. The manager-looking dude says "they're $35." I say, "$35? That's highway robbery!" And the manager says, "yah, but you'll still buy it," and he and the employee next to him laugh. Seriously? Jerks. Then I go to check out and the cashier can't manage either a Hello or a Thank You. They have no idea what customer service is from the top all the way down. I will never go back. read more

I went to this location in Sterling last Wednesday to get a few items that I needed for work. As soon as I walked in I was greeted and shortly after I was asked if I needed any help finding anything. Normally when I say "Actually, yes!" the employee will ask me what I need help finding and just point me in the direction of the item I was looking for. The young man Jason, the district manager for Dicks Sporting Goods, who was helping me did more than just point me in the direction of what I was looking for. When I told him all the items that I needed, he didn't just point me in the direction of what I was looking for, but he actually got me a shopping cart and helped me pick out each item to ensure I was getting exactly what I was looking for. Even though Jason seemed like he had his hands full (literally), he immediately stopped what he was doing to take the time to help me. This turned what could have been an hour and a half search party into a very helpful and stress free 30 minute trip to Dicks Sporting Goods. When I went to checkout the woman at the register was extremely nice and even offered to help me get the best of my purchase so that I could receive a discount by signing up for their rewards program, which took two minutes. I did not expect that kind of customer service and my boss was very happy with all the items that I was sent on a mission to get! I am very satisfied with such genuinely nice employees. Selection is limited compared to the larger stores, but they do keep up with local sporting needs. We flocked there today with all the other football parents and there was definitely enough to go around. The staff was helpful and courteous. They also had all the registers open with experienced staff. It was a madhouse, but we found what we needed and were out of there fairly quickly. read more

Selecting 2 stars based on "Meh. I've experienced better". I generally like (not love) Dick's. But tonight the manager said an hour before closing that he wasn't happy opening a drawer to return a $90 set of shoes. I had just picked up my Cyber Monday order and noticed how crappy the shoes were in person. They were around $90. Was he talking about MY RETURN? That is ONE WAY to lose a customer. Complain about a return. I WAS thinking of seeing what other shoes they had, but not now. Sorry Dick's, you might want to learn a bit about customer service because your shoes and prices are only average and customer service (or lack thereof) helped differentiate you. I have had the absolute worst experience with the online order of my treadmill. I paid 350 dollars extra to have them bring it to the room of choice and have them put it together. First it was a nightmare and a run around with AIT placing a special order delivery to come after 4. The communication between Dicks and AIT is not very good. It took over 2 weeks for this to finally be delivered. Keep in mind for the entire two weeks, AIT kept calling to tell me they'd deliver it between 12 and 2 even though i continually said please come after 4. Then when it finally did come. I call Dicks to tell them i need it put together. The customer service rep tells me to call Select Express. I now have to call another outside company just to get the treadmill put together. So I call Select Express to put it together and they have no confirmation number and tell me to call Dicks back. I call Dicks back, and a different customer service rep. Tells me that AIT should put it together at the time of delivery. So now... I am going to have to set up ANOTHER special order time for them to come out and put it together when they could have done it before they left. If I could give DICKS online orders a ZERO I absolutely would. It is reasons like this that retail stores are going out of business. Poor customer service, poor communication and lack of delivery convenience. It has been a run around. I should not have to pay for this extra delivery fee at this point. Really thought this location went above and beyond. I was a horrible person and waited until literally the last minute to purchase a Father's Day gift. I placed the order online and then had to run over to pick it up on Father's Day morning. By the time I got here my kid was knocked out in the backseat. Do I wake the beast, drag him through a 100 degree parking lot, collect this massive gift, walk it through the 100 degree parking lot while trying to control my beast? Good God I hope not. I called Dick's and they were happy to send someone outside to collect my ID and then walk my item out to me. While waiting I handed an approaching employee my ID but he looked confused. This was NOT the employee they were sending out to me. Whoops. Whether I intercepted him on his way to break or to help someone else he was more than happy to run in a get my item. I felt terrible! But he was happy to help. I definitely think Dick's is a great place to work. The employees seem well taken care of and that shows through in their customer service and helpfulness. Father's Day collected and sleeping kids .... still sleeping. Win-win. Thank you again! read more

I just called this location because they were the only one within a 200 mile radius of me that had the item I needed and it wasn't available online. A manager at the store, Jen, went above and beyond to get the item for me, she was extremely kind and helpful! She is even trying to have it delivered to me before Christmas!!! This is one of the smallest stores I've been to in the chain, but they carry all your basic sporting necessities, which is nice. I've found everything that I needed here. The staff is very friendly and helpful as well. Service with a smile, just the way I like it! read more
