Dick's House of Sport has officially opened (Or reopened) in this same spot and holding their grand opening event this weekend. The store refresh is super cool, bright and a great Chicago sports brands vibe is alive inside. Fans of Free People Movement will love the expanded merch section. The store inside is bright, colorful, and checkout the rock wall corner. (Reminds me of when Galyan's was in here). There's some eye catching Chicago teams merch, but prices are pretty high. Dick's Sporting Goods sells every sort of sporting equipment along with sports themed apparel, including licensed wear of your favorite teams. This store located in Schaumburg, IL is one of the larger ones we've visited, with a huge atrium and two stories of various wares. We came soon after it opened and it was SO empty. But there were people available to help, along with open registers to quickly check out. Maybe because there were so few people, the associates seemed to be going out of their way to be helpful and friendly: from the talkative cashier to the disabled greeter in the wheelchair using an artificial voice generator. The most important thing was that we found what we were looking for in this well stocked, giant store: Fighting Ilini branded socks and banner to gift our friend's son who had just recently decided to go to my alma mater. read more

The softball pant sizes were all mixed up. Youth and women's sections were indistinguishable. Might not seem like a huge deal but young girls' body image and confidence may be on the line. We rang a doorbell to get a fitting room which was no big deal but then inside the fitting room were a bunch of exposed wires. Glad my 8 yr old wasn't in there alone. Long wait at cash out and seemingly plenty of employees greeting or walking around instead of opening another line. Can't imagine that's more important than taking customer payment...? I have been a long time Dicks Sporting Goods customer. This season I spent almost $1000 at Christmas at Dicks. We just tried to even exchange an UnderArmour men's hoodie. Same item, same color only a different size. The original purchase was made as an online store pickup using our phone number. We were refused an even exchange since the phone number didn't show the purchase. And if we wanted to return we would get $2.00 YES I said TWO DOLLARS and then I could repurchase at the $45 I originally paid. If I do that DICKS just made $43 on me!!! POOR POOR POOR Service. I will search for my purchase record and go back to Dicks the get my money back. I will go to another retailer to purchase the size I need. My wife and I are getting ready for a very exciting trip in a few weeks. We're off to Ireland for a tour - an active tour with hiking, bicycling, etc. Recovering from foot surgery, I was advised to get a good pair of hiking boots with a stiff sole. Amazon is typically my go-to, but you can't ask questions and I don't really trust the reviews. Also, how would I know the stiffness of the shoe without touching it, bending it, and trying it on. A salesperson was right there and I told him what I needed. He pointed me in the right direction and gave me a few tips. But he left me on my own to do the rest. After trying on several pairs, I found one I really liked. It felt good, looked good, but the price was just a little more than I'd planned. Hah - Amazon has a scanner in their app so you can scan the bar code and it will bring that item up. I've done this before and have found Amazon's price to be lower in almost all cases. Not this time. The price on Amazon for the same shoe was about 40% more than here. After looking around thinking about all of the other sporting items I wanted, I settled for the shoes. Off to the register to see if forgotten the sales tax here is over 10%, but still lower than it would have cost online. So, I'm a happy and satisfied shopper. Love coming to Dicks in Schaumburg because most of the time they have what I need since it a bigger location. My boys play sports and for each season they receive 20% off coupons and never before had we had issues using them. I spend a lot of money every month at this store but the new staff and girl manger you have at the register have really poor customer service and respect towards customers and treat us like we are trash and if you use a coupon they look at you like if you are broke. Then if you buy a brand like ON or Nike etc without scanning the coupon bar code they tell you it doesn't work on these brands and decline to scan the coupon. The young guy that use to work in the baseball section knew a lot about that section and always did a great job breaking the gloves in. He was a great employee I remember he was into running track. The people in that section are okay. Then if you need to try something on in the fitting room you have to find a worker somewhere in the store and they get mad. I understand it sucks because there is rude customers but we are not all the same. Then I buy a couple pairs of shoes every week and I use the kiosk because it hard sometimes to get a hold of the shoes employee and some are great and some are disrespectful and instead of giving you the box they just throw it up on a table when they could of just handed the box to me in my extended hand that was waiting to receive the box. Sometimes the kiosk doesn't work properly and skips your shoe you are waiting on. Another thing I hate about shoes when you order a shoe and you already checked to see they have a couple pairs in stock and they try to give you the display one that is all dirty from the bottom and has scuffs. The only section that is nice and respectful is the fishing section older two guys. They have great customer service and are more than happy to help anyone. Some of The younger employees especially the girl who says she the manger at the register need to drop there cockiness and ego a couple tones down. Another thing why would you charge to use the mini batting cage. It's not like it has a pitching machine and not enough room. I understand it gets a mess and people mess things up because they don't follow rules but lock it up when not in use and when someone needs it put a timer and have an employee give them a time limit and then have them leave. Overall I still come here and deal with it just because it near by. The value of most of the things is overpriced but it the only sport near by. read more

I stopped by this store with my husband to browse their tents! We're looking for a specific type of tent and it's hard to get a full grasp online so we have been peeking around recently to try and find it. First, this Dick's Sporting Goods is MASSIVE! Two levels, bright, airy, and they have a tons of options here. With the store being that large, unfortunately leaves room for places to be left unkept throughout. The tents were pretty dusty but I get that happens. Anyways they have a great selection of tents here, any entire wall to be exact! Everything from 2 person to 10 person to instant tents. They unfortunately didn't have the one I wanted but I am picky about the one I want. They also had plenty of canopies and camping supplies. I could spend hours looking through all of the cool supplies. They had a nice variety and the prices were fair. We also popped over to look at the kayaks and their selection is awesome. We spent a long time exploring that section and came across this paddle boat that we couldn't get out of - haha! When we're ready to buy some water toys we'll definitely be back to shop around more seriously. This is a large Dick's Sporting Goods, and this location is very organized and clean. This location specifically has a huge parking lot, as well, which helps because this area gets so congested within the Streets of Woodfield. My boyfriend and I came in here, and I knew I wanted to go straight to the shoes (I have a weakness to Adidas and Nike). I almost immediately saw a pair I fell in love with, and a nice girl came and asked if she could help me get a size. They had my 7.5 size, and said if I try them on and they don't fit, they have a 7 and an 8 in stock just in case. She was super nice, and the shoes fit me. The worker asked if they were okay, and we were in our way! I didn't need shoes, but again, I have a problem haha, but it's nice when you find shoes and you don't have to wait a half an hour just to find a worker to get you the size shoe you need. I am very content she was there and so helpful. As we were checking out, we had a really fun and personable younger guy as our cashier. I dont remember his name, but he and my boyfriend were joking around about sports and things. Overall, I love coming into places and feeling very comfortable. Prior to Christmas we were picking up gifts for our employees and chose to get the Stanley cups they wanted from this location. As we were attempting to check out in cash, The cashier told us that based on the amount we spent that day we qualified for $70 gift card if we opened their credit card. Eventually we agreed and instead of paying cash used their credit card. Truth is there is no gift card we were lied to and ended up paying more because of interest without ever getting the gift card and after calling we were told they don't know what we're talking about. The employees must get credit for opening new credit cards so they will say whatever they have to to get you to agree. Stay away read more

The new product was affordable, had written replacement instructions on the back, and worked great. Great service. Wow is this store ridiculous! First if you can find a shopping cart it would be like finding gold in your backyard! Plus the associates think it's a joke that they don't even have carts. Second gold mine is finding an associate on the first floor. They are non existent on the first floor. If you need one you can find 5-8 of them on the second floor in kayaks. Schaumburg must be the kayak Mecca of the chicago suburbs. Weirdly though there are no customers shopping in that area. Must be why they were all watching tik tok together! Not even going to touch on the organization and ease of shopping the store. It's non existent so I would be here all day speaking about it. Dicks needs to do better! Especially with this beating the district store. Shows lack of leadership starting at the district level for this one! Ps. Service in this place absolutely sucks. Being Christmas time you would think they would have some extra salespeople to help you out. Their person in the camping section told me on the phone that the items I wanted to purchase will be brought down to the "will call" room. It was near closing time and I knew I wouldn't make it to the store that night. Next day I went to the store right after it opened and the greeter asked if he could help me. So I told him that I had a few items at the "will call". So off he went to get the stuff. 15 minutes later he came back and said he couldn't find my stuff but there was another area that he could look at. Another 10-15 minutes later he came back and said it wasn't there either. So I went upstairs to the camping area and waited for a salesperson to come over. The second floor was deserted - no one to help me. So I yelled out HELP ME, HELP, ANYONE HELP. Finally I saw a kid by the shoe department and I frantically started waving my hands in the air. He came over and told me he worked in shoes but didn't know too much about the items I wanted to purchase. I said that's ok, I know what I want but it's way too heavy for me to carry. So he went back to the shoe department and found another kid to carry the stuff down to the register. Hooray...I paid for the items and had to wait again for someone to carry the stuff (in the shopping cart) to my car and load it in. What should have taken all of 20 minutes took over an hour. This two-floor monster is almost too large, but it is really cool to wander through. I didn't have an agenda but the store is well laid out so if I was in search of something I have no doubt that locating it would be easy. Camping, sports, fishing, clothing, etc. All the areas are clearly defined. While I didn't require help, I only saw one or two employees, so it may have been an issue finding one if needed. Everything was well stocked and clearly marked. Normal prices seemed on par with other sporting goods stores and outfitters, but the sale markdowns were quite generous. I think that if you are really looking to buy something, wait for a sale. It was difficult to walk away without buying a new tent, kayak and some replacement gear! Everything was so tidy and the aisles were clear and clean. I'm not sure if this place is still brand new or if it always looks so nice but it made visiting a pleasure. read more

Patrick F. helped us out tremendously. I have fished for many years. But our grandson is exploring into areas of fishing I am unfamiliar with. Patrick F. was able to not sell us, but give us the understanding we needed to make a great purchasing decision. Thank you Patrick F. As a note. "Good evening, can I help you find anything tonight?" is what I hear when I walk through the doors of Dicks in Schaumburg at the Streets of Woodfield. We had just been to Sports Authority about 10 minutes earlier and did not see one employee until we were leaving the store (no joke). I was on a hunt for bowling shoes for my guy and myself. I had already pretty much found online what I wanted and just wanted to go buy them at the store and get a pair for my boyfriend. We walked in and were immediately greeted and pointed in the right direction. Their selection was small and scattered throughout the department (which confused me), but they did have a size 13 of a cool looking bowling shoe for my boyfriend- SOLD! I was not as lucky. :( The pair I wanted, was not available in the store and they only had one size available online, so I was screwed, but I was able to find a wrist guard for $15.00 which satisfied one of my needs. I had received via email a $15 off $50 purchase the day before, so I pretty much got the wrist guard for free. They are not really well staffed in each department as they should be for such a large place, but hey, every company is struggling right now. We did have to wait about 10 minutes for someone to come help us that knew more about bowling equipment than the young lady who walked past, but did have the courtesy to call over a young man to help us in the department. The gentleman who checked us out was pleasant and helped end my trip to Dicks on a higher note. We'll be back. I just hope they keep those coupons coming! read more

I went in to get a new volleyball set. I'm kinda mixed about this place. The bad: It took me asking 4 people for help to eventually get me what I needed and they didn't even seem to want to help me. I also could not figure out the prices for a bunch of things I was buying. This place is okay. Got a lot of good brands and I mean it's a chain.. so same thing everywhere you know dicks is over priced, but you go there and you can usually count on them having what you need. This place had all dead worms when we got there wish I got a photo of that as well. But every single cup was dead. Very disappointing. Also the display of the paddle boat upstairs clearly hasn't been cleaned in awhile or someone just didn't make an effort to, because we wanted to buy one and this display was disguising!
