Went in today to get some football cleats for my son. David, in the footwear department, was great. We got top notch customer service from him. He took time to explain the difference between the cleats and answered all my questions. He gets 10 stars for his great customer service. The only reason I give Dicks 4 starts, instead of 5, is because we waited in the checkout line for a long time. There was only one cashier and it looked like she was dealing with some kind of issue with the customer she was helping (maybe a refund or something). Finally, another cashier opened up and checked us out. The staff was very friendly. I just think they should have more cashiers available. Overall, I will definitely return...especially since I need to purchase more football gear for my son. read more

I have been to this Dicks about 5 times over the last couple years. I gave the benefit of a doubt so I went again... Still the same... VERY few actually can answer questions about Fishing Tackle.. they pick the item up and start reading the box or package, that is IF you can find anyone to help you to start with. The help is only good in a few areas of the store... Fishing... forget it... Learn on your own but don't ask them any questions... And as another poster said... THEY DO NOT ACCEPT THEIR OWN COUPONS that they e mail out. They tell you its ON LINE ORDERS ONLY... AND I CANNOT Purchase ON LINE AND LICK UP IN STORE... I am starting to take the drive out to Ontario and go the the BASS PRO SHOP... MUCH better service, They actually hire people who are willing and want to help you , They have employees who know their merchandise or they call someone who does... The drive is only about an hour and think of it as relaxing and go early and check the GREAT STORE OUT... 500 percent better then Dicks and there are some really great places there at the ONTARIO MILLS to eat.. Also THIS DICKS DOES NOT have a military discount... Some stores do its up to the management... This is a big time MILITARY COMMUNITY and Aerospace area... THEY SHOULD HAVE Military pride but they do not.. That's another Great reason ... TAKE the drive over to Ontario and go to the BASS PRO SHOP... I love this store it's got a large selection of all sporting goods and sports apparel. It's well organized which I appreciate, because all the other sports shops here in the ac are so cluttered and sell more "trendy" stuff. I agree it is expensive but if you take advantage of their coupons and promotions/sales you actually save a lot of money on food quality items. read more

Looking for a particular item at multiple dicks sporting-goods I unfortunately found the item I was looking for at the Palmdale location. After arriving I was told they did not have the item I called about and that the incorrect item was put on hold after calling multiple times. Manager was extremely unhelpful and unaccommodating after I repeatedly told him I had traveled a long distance to get the item. Stay clear of this location pay a higher price and use a different store to get your item. You can thank me later. read more

I waited on the phone for TEN minutes.... every time it rang, they placed me back on hold... I had the worst costumer experience of my life at this store from a salesman, I know his name but he will remain anonymous because I'm kind. However He was extremely rude and lied to me about laws and policies pertaining to purchasing a firearm and wouldn't let me purchase one. I wish I never encountered this guy because all I think about is how rude he was and now I associate a good store with a rude guy like this. Went to Dick's Sporting Goods and asked one of the female sales staff if they sell game cameras? She replied, "no." Not convinced, I asked another female salesperson and she also said no. Next, I asked her if she knew what a game is and she said, No. Then, I asked her if she didn't know what they were, how would she know the store doesn't have them? I was met with a vacant stare. As a result, I went to a male salesperson and asked him the same question. Yes sir, and personally escorted me to an aisle with dozens of game cameras. Let me start by saying that Dick's is now under new management starting this August. I've always been pleased with the selection of sporting goods from this store under the old management. It didn't take long for me to take my business elsewhere. Today I'm going to focus on the fishing section. For the customer. First, I would only recommend that you shop here as a convenience factor. It's always better to source out your needs from smaller businesses. The pricing is a little high and there are always cheaper avenues to explore when looking for fishing equipment. The plastics sections is okay, but again, you could probably find better deals at Wal-Mart. Amazon will always be your cheaper option if you can wait a couple days to get gear. The everyday staff and customer service is friendly but not really knowledgeable on the fishing stuff. For the manager, Unfortunately the reason that I won't be returning is because you pulled the military discount. This is an area that is very proud of our military. We have a great understanding of how difficult life is for them and how severely mistreated and underpaid they are. For the ones that live at the base, Rosamond or anywhere far for that matter, there is zero incentive for making the drive to your store. I will call your store on occasion and see if you've reinstated it and at that time I will change my review. You have to be competitive with the market around you. If you have set pricing, then you need to find ways to keep the customer coming back, because the only thing you have going for you is the convenience factor. I recommend more clearance items and special deals. Right now, you are the most expensive place to buy fishing equipment from. Ask around to some local fisherman and find out what style of fishing is done out here.ie; drop shot fishing for bass. now you know that you need to keep drop-shot weights on hand (which you don't). I went to exchange a shirt I received as a gift because it had deodorant marks on it and the manager refused even though it was brand new with tags on it. I am extremely disappointed because my husband and I spend a lot of money in this store each month and it was a simple exchange that was needed. We will be taking our money elsewhere from now on. So for the third time since moving 20miles away, I have called this store have been told the item I wanted was in Stock, this time when I called I asked three time to have them make sure they have it which they say yes they do . I drive there and go to the area and don't see any , so I ask the sales person who tells me there should be a bunch of them in a basket ,so we look around for a bit and then be told that they were hung up ,so we look for where they should be and guess what happens yup get told oh ya we don't have any of those in Stock!!!!! I have to agree: check your receipts!!! The first time I went there I made the mistake of requesting the receipt via email (to save paper). It showed up several hours later and when I checked it I notice something rang up $10 more. After several phone calls and a trip back to the store I got my $10 back plus an apology and a consideration for my time--I had used a promotion coupon so it was something neither of the first two clerks could or would figure out. Well...I gave them a second try and NO JOKE another completely different item rang up exactly $10 more!!! So I had to go back and have them fix it. Too bad this is the only Dicks in Palmdale. The store was unorganized. I was shopping for a Trekking pole. There were only a few to choose from. They were not where they were supposed to be as far as labeling. I had to find help to do a price check on each of them. The one I like was missing pieces. I ended up settling for another type. Terrible Customer Service. . . By company mandate, only 6 employees on a shift. . . Wholly insufficient! I have visited the store on at least 6 occasions, each time hoping to purchase ammunition. Never has there been someone at the gun counter who could help me. Yes, there may have been one employee working the counter. However, there was always at least a dozen people waiting in line. When I asked an employee about the number of people working in the store, I was informed that the company will not allow them to schedule any more than 6 people on a shift. That is wholly inadequate for a store of this size, especially with an entrance/exit with registers at two sides of the store. It would take at least 2 employees just to manage the gun counter. I am done with Dick's. It's back to Walmart and Big 5 for ammo. If I need other sports related items, Sports Chalet is better. Cheaper and more people working the floor who can be of assistance. read more

My fiancé and I are extremely upset. We ordered my shoe size in the store to have it shipped to my house-BAD IDEA! According to the associate, an error kept showing up and the card wasn't working. He tried this at least four times and we had to go purchase a gift card for the total of $82.62. Then we had to bring it back to him and it turns out the card was charged EVERY TIME. We already went in there and they didnt do much.This is ridiculous and unfair. Therefore, I am going to cancel the entire order. What a headache. read more

Another bad experience with Dicks. My husband ordered a bat in store for delivery. Major discrepancy in the processing and delivery time frame. We called to discuss this issue, customer service did not care nor did they have a resolution. We basically got a tough shit. Before you order anything get all the information in writing. Read the rest of the reviews regarding the service. I've been to Dick's multiple times and for the most part didn't have a problem with the service. The other day my wife used the dressing room to try some clothes on and a worker called someone over to help us and he came promptly to assist us. The times I've needed help I didn't have a problem finding someone. But there have been times where I would pass a worker without them asking me if I needed help or assistance finding something. In the retail business you would hope that asking customers for assistance would be a regular habit. For a sporting goods store, they actually a nice selection of goods. Every area is clearly marked per sport, and there's a nice variety of items to choose from. I really like thier LA section with all the Dodger gear. I saw some SF Giants shirts on the clearance rack, definitely not a top seller at a SoCal store, lol. They do carry all the current gear and name brand equipment and clothing which is great, but the prices are a bit on the expensive side for what it is. You can probably end up finding what you want cheaper at another store or online. read more

This is a brand new store for Palmdale and I love it for all my outdoor needs! My only issue is that there isn't a section for snowboards/skis there. So this place has a variety of sporting goods which is good but also the prices are kind of high for some things that would regularly be cheap. The customer service is nice and helpful but I had bought a sweater too small and I tried to return it without a receipt and the lady who was helping me gave me a shit attitude like acting if I did something wrong because I didn't have my receipt nor remembered the phone number on the score card. I paid $60 plus tax but only got back $40 ,which is okay because I didn't have my receipt. The lady kept thinking I was lying and kept looking at me funny. But besides that situation I have loved this store I bought great gym equipment the first week it opened saving over $200 with coupons they had. read more

This store is the definition of HORRIBLE SERVICE. It doesn't matter what day of the week nor what time you visit the store, it makes no difference, the service remains horrible. I am not sure if they go out of their way to hire the worst that the Antelope Valley has to offer, but I have never experienced such poor service. I travel a lot throughout the world and it saddens me to know that the worst service I have ever experienced, is here in the Antelope Valley: the Dick's in Palmdale. What a shame to have a well stocked store, which is a ghost town at best in service. I have never seen more then one register open at time, and the person manning the register has zero customer service skills and takes the longest with any and all issues. I am not sure why the management isn't addressing these issues, which displays the lack of care for customers. Forget about going during lunch time, no one is assisting anyone and the same poor service is provided. I witnessed a woman have a melt down, because she had been in line so long, and the lack of customer service was making her late to return back to work. Just came home from my first experience shopping at Dicks Sporting Goods I went in there enthusiastic for their big golf selection I chose a set of golf clubs I wanted to purchase and searched out a Salesman to help me. He retrieves the club's and I go to pay I noticed he got me left handed clubs so I go back to the guy and say I'm not a lefty he goes back gets me another set it took forever, so I pay walk out and open the box at my car, wrong set I asked for graphite not steel shaft, so again I go back he says ok he will get the right set. After 30 min he tells me He doesn't have it in stock and no I can't buy the display! So I ask for a different more expensive set..another 20 min in the stockroom, oh surprise sold out at this time I was over it and I got my money back and went home very dissapointed ! So I bought the club's online from Dicks, ( price was good, I'll give them that) maybe they should stay only online and get rid of the employees that way service would be better.
