    Shoe being returned

Less than a week after purchase, my son's new Croc broke when the strap came out of the shoe and tore the shoe. Given that it was less than a week old, we didn't think twice about going back to the store to return what appeared to be a defective shoe. Our last pair was purchased at Nordstrom and at the time we were wondering if there was a different line sold at Nordstrom that was more reliable since his last pair lasted at least a year. We went to the store to make the return and the store manager, Gil, happened to be the person to help us. When we asked to return the shoes, we were almost immediately confronted with claims that the shoes couldn't be a week old due to the wear on the soles. Gil got another pair of shoes and showed us and claimed that the wear on our shoes was not possible within a week. We asserted that the shoes were less than a week old. He insisted the wear was not possible in that timeframe. It certainly is. He showed another associate, who would've reported into him and asked "this wear looks significant, right?" I don't think I'd disagree with my boss and the associate did not disagree. When Gil was looking at the bottom of our shoe, he then asserted "These shoes are made in Indonesia, the ones we sell are made in China". We noticed the pair of shoes he brought up showed that the shoe was made in India, not China. He didn't change his demeanor once he saw the shoe he brought up was not made in China. Gil then insisted that the strap was ripped out and that was not a defect. He then showed the action of someone intentionally ripping a strap out of a shoe to damage it. He continued that the return policy clearly stated that any returns must be in like new condition and re-sellable and that was clear as day in the policy. I looked at the return policy on the receipt, and I said the return policy says returns accepted within 90 days, nothing about being re-sellable and in like new condition. He re-asserted that it was not a "defect" and that the strap was "ripped" out of the shoe. My son wore the shoe for less than a week. He did not intentionally rip anything. Gil eventually agreed to do an exchange, but was unwilling to allow us to make a return. Still trying to "win" and treat us like we were committing fraud. We are regular customers, we did not try to defraud anyone. We have bought a lot from Dicks over the years and this one experience has completely turned us off of the company. All over a $40 pair of shoes. (We a picture of the one shoe we still had as Gil was going to find a pair of shoes to prove that they were made in China, see attached) (I also included a picture of my daughter's shoe that is a year old, note the difference in wear) Don't buy shoes at Dick's

This place is pretty nice, but a little expensive. I would MUCH rather go to a smaller sports store with knowledgeable sales people.

Expensive on everything. TIP: buy sports gear on Amazon. I saved big time. I will never comeback here again.

It made it so much easier for me to make this order, especially with a kid who's potty training (so I wanted to be as efficient as possible with the trip). I don't have the app or a login but they were gracious enough to help me anyway and indeed were very helpful. The clothes I picked up are super cute and fit kinda well now but will fit very well in a couple months. Lots of parking since it's in the middle of the Village Crossing shopping center. It's on the side near Michaels and Jewel. If you use curbside, they have a couple of dedicated parking spots for you.

Price does come down with all their discounts and you can check online for additional discounts. Excellent quality clothing for good prizes, there shoe collection is very nice as well, also if you sign up for rewards for every 100$ spent you get a 10$ reward and can be used at osh kosh to I got a lot of help from Lynn who was courteous and patient with me since I was buying gifts for 3 different age babies. The stuff here is completely amazing, Susie was amazing she remembered us from our last trip in and was an amazing help. My daughter has an amazing personal shopper. I would shop at this store again. Would definitely recommend it.

I am 5'7.5", so I'm bending over and causing my lower back to hurt. So we walked into the shop where the owner, I guess, was assisting a customer. He didn't even look our way to acknowledge us or greet us. At that point I was done. But my husband wanted to get me a new bike, so we stayed. The guy walked his current customer to the door. Turned around with his hands on his hips and looked at us like we were trash. Very rudely, he asked, "Can I help you?" as if we were bothering him. We asked about seeing a 27-inch bike, and he gave us such a nasty attitude instead of him explaining the different types of bikes and how after 26 inches the bikes are measured by tire width. He and my husband went back and forth about the difference. He was argumentative, mean, and nasty in the way he spoke with us. So my husband asked, "Can my wife try the next size after 26?" He very reluctantly pulled a bike from the rack for me to try the sizing. The entire experience was horrible. This man obviously had a problem with black people; hate was all over him. He couldn't wait for us to leave his shop.

And on an on an on an on and on. And on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on. And on and on and on and on and on an on and on and on and on and on. It was a long time. I waited. And I waited some more. I did some serious waiting five feet away in a red sweater. No acknowledgment. No letting me know it might be a while. But that would've likely stopped the upselling I started to see. So I turned me and my bike around and left. It's hard for me to be on my feet that long. That's why I bike. Dood has a right to be into his subject matter. Usually shops want you to feel comfortable and respected as somewhat of a priority, even if you aren't being directly pitched at the moment... it just was not a good vibe. All doods working there when I was in. Way heavy on the dood vibe. Captive audience syndrome. Sigh. Dood has to do what a dood does. I avoid places like this. Going to the bike collective in Rogers Park instead next time.
