We went to get equipment for our child's first soccer season. There were multiple retail personnel, available to help with questions. There was a good supply of balls, cleats, shin pads. I had to pick up a few things for my kids sports season. The store is large and has a lot of selection but some items were in the wrong spot and other items had limited sizes. In hindsight, I could have easily looked online to see what they had inventory before going. I had to exchange a pair of pants for a larger size and the cashier Jay was very helpful and friendly. This is the worst Dick's in the world. Twice, store associates passed me by to ask older white men if they needed help while their wives try on clothes. Maybe brown people don't buy stuff there so they didn't think it was worth helping me? And then when I finally hunted someone down he told me sorry that the jersey I wanted was only in a medium and no other sizes even though he didn't look and the other jerseys hanging by it were in multiple sizes. And then the checkout person acted like she was doing me a favor. Plus the store is small and dingy and they don't have much here at all. I'd recommend going to the one in Ridgedale - they're happy to help non-white people and they actually have stuff you want to buy - in more sizes than Medium. read more

I'd leave zero stars if I could. only 2 checkout people. I stood in line at least 15 minutes with 20 other shoppers without moving. Shoppers began to leave is disgust including myself. i left the merchandise on the counter and told the checkout person this store has problems. he agreed with me. I asked another employee why he didn't open another checkout line and his reply was that only two are scheduled for checkout. Needless to say that they lost a few customers today. read more

Your names not "Dick" is it? A little Customer Service 101 needed! I'll start by saying I do miss the days of small mom and pop sporting good stores with a limited selection and great service. These are all long since gone in the burbs and replaced by the HUGE box store that has everything. I will say I have been to this store alot, spent alot of money there and will continue to. The main reason is that there is nothing in this area to give it any competition. My one star and much of my dislike for this store comes from the total lack of customer service and organization. It's one of those places you would swear has no manager, or maybe just a really bad one. I have seen racks of cloths sitting in the isle without any price on them (am I supposed to walk all the way to the front of the store to see how much something costs?). The other day there was an several racks of shirts on display, every single one of them on hangers that listed the sizes, everyone of them WRONG. I had to look at ever garment to see the size. Not that I mind doing that but then use plain hangers not the ones with the sizes on the tag. Overall, in all the visits in the last few months I have never once had someone come up and ask me if I needed any help, whats with that. With the exception of one or two trips I have been there to spend money. Sometimes it turns out staying there but just as many times I have ended up at another store, spending more in some cases but at least getting some service! Your average box store that has it all except employees that seem to give a crap whether you spend any money or just wonder around for 1/2" hour and then leave, in disgust to shop elsewhere. read more

"I love Dicks!" Used to say that quite a bit when I needed new gear or clothing. Then, the Maple Grove Dicks went down hill, and fast. It soon became "meh, I don't care for Dicks." Then it became "Dicks? No thanks." Why? Well, the staff had become a bunch of carefree people who seemed to go out of their way to avoid customer's, and especially if you had a question. Not to mention for a rink rat like myself, the hockey selection was a joke at the most. Maybe one side of an aisle if you're lucky. Lacrosse gear was at least getting some love, happy to see that. I then found needing to try on some knee braces out for field sports, and figured, "I should check out Dicks." Still didn't encounter a rep that could help, or even point me into the direction of the equipment I needed. So, I was pretty disgusted again. But, with time to kill I found them and whoopty do. Hockey selection? At least it was up to a full aisle! Hurray! This past weekend, the girlfriend and I needed to get a new water bottle, and figured we were right next to there - lets go. She loves Dicks. I'm still at the hesitant "meh" stage when it comes to Dicks. Selection wise? Same hockey aisle with not much there. At least they had laces and tape for when I'm out and cut a lace, that's all I ask from a "sporting goods" store. We got the water bottles and strolled around a bit. The clearance stuff is the only thing I cared to look at because everything else there is ridiculously over priced for clothing. With Nordstrom Rack two parking lots away, why would anyone pay "full" price for UA gear or workout gear? Makes no sense to me. And, shockingly, someone that works there actually asked if we needed help. I was taken back and before I could make a big deal of it, Ashley intervened and kept us going about our mission. The checkout person mumbled so badly I couldn't understand a damn word he said. He could have insulted me and my mother and I'd a never known. In any event, I'll give them a 2 out of 5. When I come here, I come to comparison shop or to get the items that only they carry. Their selection here is okay and they have more off brands. Since I comparison shop here, I find myself rarely buying here. Take that for what it is, I can find better stuff at a better price other places. I have been coming here for the last few years and I have seen the customer service improve a bit. It was as bad as Kyle said and I still think they have an attitude. But If I am looking for something, I can usually get someone to notice and help me out. read more

Right away when I walk in I tried to get the workers attention. They decided to form a group and just chit chat as I'm waiting for them to help me. I had to stand in line before someone came to help and he still was talking about idk what with his coworkers. Not work related. I was redirected to Sandra who said they were out of my snow pants even tho I just checked online and it said they carried what I was looking for. So please update that. And when I looked through what they had all the tags and hangers didn't match sizes so I guess they don't have my size? It was hard to tell since nothing matched together. When you say 25% off on everything (Black Friday ) it should be on everything. But when you get to checkout you will be surprised that more than half of what you're buying is not part of the program :) Staff didn't seem friendly at all. Don't buy from Field and Stream which is owned by Dicks. I'd give big 0 stars if I could. Bad experience. Nobody knows what they're doing in customer service. I bought item due to the name brand of higher quality with Field and Stream. Yeah, right Online order 11/17 orange hunting bids. Great sale. Product came dirty. Not sure if used & returned or just bad handling. Called customer service. Said keep it and they'll send new one. Called 11/21 and asked for tracking number. Didn't have one. Waited and called 11/23. Again, no product or tracking number. They assured me everything is okay, the bibs have shipped. I looked closer at confirmation they finally sent me after calling. It went to wrong address! Called again. Said another order will go out. Waited until 11/30. No confirmation, no tracking number. 12/04 Called again! They had no idea if it shipped or not. I talked to a supervisor. She couldn't explain why she can't tell if it shipped or not. Said if comes from manufacturer they can't see it. What? That made no sense. I cancelled order, want credit to charge card. They sent me return UPS tag just in case it did ship. As to date, 12/17 nothing has shown up. What a way to run a company. Nobody knows anything, nobody is trained properly. Friendly people but clueless. Wow. Keep your money. Go in to store to buy. DONOT BUY ONLINE. read more

I've been to Dick's a few times to pick up sporting gear and the customer service on the floor was great. There was always someone who was there to see if I needed any assistance and that helped with my experience. However, today there was no one in sight so I struggled to find what I needed, and when I checked out, the cashier didn't know anything about a protocol to my specific request, they also ran out of receipt paper and had none close by so they had to quick go find some. On top of that, they never gave me my purchased items and was already ringing the next customer up so I had to go to the side and reach behind to grab my bag. It was terrible. read more

I was waiting patiently in line to check out, when it was my turn to check out, I was being told to wait by the cashier so a lady that just walked in through the front entrance triggering the alarm sensor carrying multiple online order packages to be return can go ahead of me, after the fact I had already put down my items at the register and I had grab my items and go back in line to wait AGAIN!. I felt disrespected, and In addition to that instead of calling another person to accommodate me, he had me wait until another cashier saw the line and he ended up checking out my items. This was not a good customer service at all, I felt very unappreciated for my business, not just that I live a distance away and usually I come to this dicks sporting good because I thought the employees here were experienced and more professional at customer service. read more

Get friendlier people to answer your phone. From the other reviews for this location it sounds like your entire store could use a customer service class. There are plenty of options for outdoor gear - especially in MN where I'd most likely pay a little less - will be shopping around now and most likely take my business somewhere else. read more
