I haven't been here in awhile but my fiancé wanted to get some new shoes for work so I tagged along. I'm surprised that this place is rated so low, our visit was fine. We stayed downstairs over my the shoes. They had alot of the Adidases and Nikes out and they look really nice, but alot of the other brands were kept in their warehouse and you must use the kiosk to request them to be brought out to try on. Once he did that I thought it would take awhile for them to go get them and hand them over, but it was maybe 5 mins or so and they were very polite about it. He tried two pair on and chose the pair that closely matched his uniform. He gave the other pair back and we took the other to the cashier, nothing to note about purchasing them, just fast and polite. Seems fine to me. read more

I feel like we have to come to this location at least 1x per year to have my kiddo try on cleats for the soccer season. Every year I tell myself "don't wait until the weekend before school starts", but I did what I said I wasn't going to do. This location seems to ALWAYS be busy and parking always seems to be a pain, as there are a lot of stores around this location. When we arrived inside, the store was packed to the gills with parents and kids. Where were they all? The shoe department. We headed to the shoe department to look for cleats. The shoe department staff were being pulled in every direction. We got an associate and asked for several sizes in multiple cleats. Out of all the cleats we looked at, they only had one pair and one size that we wanted to try on, so it was either he's was going to get those boots to fit or we were going to have to look elsewhere. We tried them on, and they fit. We did try to order a larger size online and if they can't ship them to the store, you have to pay $10 for shipping, which I find kind of ridiculous. The lack of items and just the shear amount of people here, makes me just want to shop online. read more

There is a large variety of everything here except for what I need and/or always seem to be looking for...and that is cold-weather items. OK, I get it, this is Florida...but people do leave the state on trips during the wintertime now and then. It would be nice to have a few basics at least. Ho hum... Aside from the above...the selection is pretty broad and the employees are always helpful. I like coming in here to check out the sale items, etc. because you can get some good deals. Because I can't give it zero stars. I bought a $250 pair of Nike shoes and within three weeks the shoes are falling apart. They could've easily taken these back but they said I have excessive wear and tear. That's absurd. The shoes are falling apart because they're poorly made. Then he tried to tell me that they're bought for people who do One day races and thrown away. Really? Somebody buys $300 shoes and throws them away after one where. Don't shop at the store or if you do make sure you really like what you buy and you're OK if it falls apart. read more

My son bought a pair of shoes then decided he wanted to exchange them, he only wore them to the car and we went to exchange them 3 days later. The store refused, they claimed he wore them too much, really 200 meters to the car is too much. We won't be shopping here again, prices are high and customer service is worse. read more

This is a good sporting goods store located in an upscale shopping plaza. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and you can get anything from kayaks to bicycles to clothing. Prices can be good, especially when considering that they regularly run sales. All in all, I would have to recommend them. read more

Went to Dick's today -- bought a headband for a gift. It was on sale for $8.99 marked down from $18.99. Paid cash... if you look at the receipt, I was charged $9.99. I didn't notice until I walked away. Sooo I went and took a picture of the rack where I got the headband (see $8.99 pic). Went back to the same cashier and was very nice to her and let her know I didn't notice until I looked at my receipt as I was leaving that she charged me more than was on the noted price. And this wasn't mis- marked - it was in multiple places! WOW DID I GET ATTITUDE! I realize it was only a bit more than $1 HOWEVER IT'S MY $1 NOT DICK'S! I went to Dick's Sporting Goods to buy my friend and I Jaguar hats for the play-off game tomorrow. I did not have any Jags gear because I'm a Ravens fan, but decided last minute to pick something up to show support. I checked Wal-Mart and Target and they were both out of stock. But the associate at Target told me that Dick's had Jags hats so off to Town Center I went. Upon entering the store I asked an associate, who was heldhelpful and friendly, if they had any Jags hats. The associate advised me where to go in the store to find them if they had any left. YES! They had hats! Only one style and you couldn't adjust them, but at least they had hats when no one else did. I'm rating a four because they charge more than I like to spend. The hat was $26. I also picked up a women's Jags t-shirt because I liked the style for $30. Went to Dick's to try on a pair of shoes, didn't even bring my wallet because I was just going to "try on". If I liked them I planned on ordering them online. The gentleman who assisted me, Jamil Moore, was extremely attentive & helpful while not hovering over me. He ended up being so kind and offering to submit my order online for me so before I left, I had bought the shoes. I was so impressed by his kindness and customer service I had to leave a review- I hope he gets recognized for his good customer service as I've had the complete opposite in that store several times lately...sadly at the customer service counter. We've got a lot of good deals here over the years on the kids baseball and football cleats. The leagues have weekends where you can save more money on equipment for the kids too. They have rows of quality name brand clothes for men, women and children. Lots of sneakers and sandals too. They are doing a remodel in the store right now and I'm looking forward to seeing the improvements. They have a large fishing section which appears to have been poorly managed for a while. For instance they have a couple of rows of a lure but they are all the same color. The department is a mess and they don't have the selection they used to have. Hopefully that will be fixed with the remodel. If you're at Saint Johns Town Center and you like sports stop there and take a look around. read more

They have a lot of supplies for the Outdoorsy J-villian. The best thing I bought here was the undergarment for Winter Sports active wear. It kept both me and my son warm but not sweaty and sticky. They also had plenty of beanies and warm winter head gear to choose from. Their selection of gloves, however was pretty limited. From what I hear, the Christmas shoppers tore through all the winter gear before we got there. Oh drat... They also carry plenty of runners gear, camping equipment, and sports gear as well. We bought my son's soccer cleats here, as well as his shin guards. However, they did not carry flag football flag belts. Too bad. I like shopping here because of the convenient location in the St Johns Town Center. read more

There is a lot going on a Dick's Sporting Goods. It's a two story building with tons of work out and athletic attire as well as sports equipment and shoes. Clothing and shoes are located on the first floor and equipment is located upstairs. While this store's location is located in the Town Center; it has its own dedicated parking lot. (Very nice) There are different sections for different styles and brands of clothing but I found it not clearly marked and somewhat difficult to find items. For example, I looked for a shirt I saw on a manikin. After 10 minutes I looked for a person on the floor to help. It took be another 10 minutes to find someone. He looked at the manikin, then looked at me and said we probably don't have anymore. Soooooo.... that wasn't helpful. When looking for a fitting room, I was told there were 4. Wellllll.... 2 of them had racks of clothes in front of them so only 2 were available. I started to enter one and a man yelled out that he was in there. Soooooo... the lock and the flashing light to indicate "in use" wasn't working. Ugh. When I got into the dressing room, it was really hot. In fact, the store was uncomfortably hot on Saturday. When looking for running shoes, besides getting the various shoes/sizes for me, the people on the floor were not very knowledgeable or helpful. However, we made it through and bought the over priced stuff. I like Dicks because it is a one stop shot but in the future, I'll do my research and go elsewhere for the gear I need. read more

We stopped in on Saturday to look at Golf Clubs. My husband has been dying for a new set for a long time, so we decided to just go ahead and get them. He really had his heart on a set of Nike clubs, then we planned on getting him a new driver and bag as well. Naturally, being a golfer, he wanted to try the clubs out in the simulator to see how hard and far he could hit. The man who was there that day, was taller with dark hair and wore a bright blue collared shirt, with slacks. I didn't catch his name. My husband asked if he could test the clubs, he said yeah, then walked away with a previous customer. Not a big deal, except that NOT ONCE did he come back to check on my husband, make sure he was hitting right, or if the club was the right fit for my husband...and that's that man's JOB to do that. Instead, he was with the previous customer for nearly 30-40 mins, trying to talk the man into buying clubs, when the man OBVIOUSLY didn't want to buy! I know this because we were standing behind the previous gentleman; his arms were crossed and he kept shaking his head at everything the sale associate suggested, and YET AGAIN, he didn't ONCE acknowledge my husband or even say "I'll be right with you, sir." NOT ONCE. And we were standing in line! I was infuriated. We waited some more behind this gentlemen, who kept shaking his head, before my husband went back to the simulator to test out some clubs with our 13 year old son and 7 year old daughter, and STILL your sales associate did not come to us, say a word, or check on us. What would have been close to a $1200 sale for him, became ZILCH. We walked out. I was ready to grab a manager, but my husband wanted to leave. Never again will I return to your store. And I REFUSE to let my husband spend such a vast amount in a store where we get ignored for over an hour. I am so disappointed by how we were blatantly ignored, and how your staff just didn't seem to even CARE about a family waiting around for close to an hour. Do your associates not care about business? Or did this particular employee just seem to miss the Customer Service 101 class? The crazy part is, as we were walking past the register where your associate was trying to convince the uninterested customer, said customer was walking away empty handed, and your associate looked dead at us, and STILL didn't say a darn word! First let it be known I have shopped at Dick's prior to this and never had an issue. However on this occasion something needed to be said. I went to purchase .40 S&W ammunition at 6pm on a Saturday evening. I expected the store to be busy considering it to be a long weekend and there were a considerable amount of sales going on. However to my amazement the hunting section was not even manned. In its place was a buzzer to be pushed if assistance was needed. Five customers were waiting for an associate one was taken care of and then the associate left. I took note as I left empty handed that each other department had at least two associates working together. At 8pm I went to Sports Academy to find the hunting department fully manned and able to take care of all my needs. Not to mention they had more registers open. read more

I live on the Northside of Jax so the Rivercity store is much closer BUT that store has terrible customer service. The store in the Town Center has never given me a bad experience. They have been very helpful. They help you find what you need and if they do not have it in store, they find a way to get it to you. I recommend this store over the Rivercity store any day. read more

I have used this Dick's on three different kayak purchasers and all three were very pleasant as far as a purchase can go. The sales staff was professional and helpful from the start, all the way until we loaded them in my truck. Dick's have some really good sales, I walked away paying a lot less than I would if I had went elsewhere. Their non-sale price is about the same as any other big chain store. The only down side to this location is that the Town Center Mall is a real pain getting in and out especially around lunch time, so plan your visit accordingly. read more
