Today I decided to buy sneakers in person due to the fact I wanted to try them on. I was in & out in the matter of moments with the sneakers I wanted. All the staff members were helpful & kind. We come here to get sporting stuff and clothes never for sneakers. My daughter is in soccer so we needed cleats. There was a lot of ppl on a saturday obviously. Don't see any workers didn't even realize we had to order our sneakers to try one from a kiosk. omg! How freaking annoying. So you scan the item pick your size and tell them your name and what color shirt your wearing. It says 3-4 minutes. It was longer than that but not more than 10. I felt like when I go to target I have to scan my own stuff . My husband found it convenient I personally did not like it especially if it's multiple sneakers. I swear this is the worst Dick's in the world. usually com into this chain. It's pretty easy to purchase things either. Install online for pick up, but this location, I beg to differ. I placed my order online, came to the store, and entered all my information for pick up. I waited 15 minutes, but there was no response. I called the store. The lady who's handling pickups claimed that someone would be out in just a moment. No, that didn't happen. 20 minutes later, I ended up going into the store myself because I could see the cashiers and the pick-up staff hanging around the front chatting. One of them even ran out to his car and back to the store. I was livid. I ended up getting my item and back into my car on my own. I'll probably skip shopping at the physical store again unless it was necessary as it was in my case. I looked online for Sorel winter explorer insulated boots and Dicks has them in stock and on sale near me in Queens and I wanted to try them on, but to my dismay they had nothing in stock, not even close. I ordered them from another Dicks store that offered to ship them, got them in 2 days. I've use them for about 2 weeks but, the D width is a bit snug And my feet felt tired in them when idled for long periods, otherwise if I'm active they were ok. I suggest you order them 1/2 size bigger to accommodate your toes better with thicker socks. As far as warmth, they're good. The online shopping was the better choice in this instance. read more

Now you are left to wander around and then bring a shoe you want to a kiosk to look up. There were 2 people working but neither 1 offered to help me. Worst customer service. I called about a merchandise check and I was on the line for 20 mins. Because of the way their telephone system works, it rings everyone few mins on their end, so I keep getting bounced around and eventually spoke with three people on my inquiry. They all took my information but no one helped me in the end. In classic terrible customer service, the last person actually hung up on me. Don't waste your time here. And don't accept their "covid" or "understaffed" excuse. This is basic courtesy and last time I checked, there shouldn't be this much of a problem of handling a very simple merchandise check over the phone, especially with 3 different people and a customer willing to be patient, but only get hung up on at the end. Visited this store a short while ago in search of training shoes. I selected two, and was told they were not in stock in my size. I then found the Nike Metcon's, they checked, and again they didn't have it in my size. The person helping me scanned the bar code that is on the shoe. If you look at the picture of the Nike Metcon you will notice the shoes are NOT THE COLOR listed on the tag. I didn't realize this until after I started researching at home the tag on the shoe (I took a picture of the shoe I wanted before leaving thinking I could order it online). I was wondering why I could not find on Dicks website Nike Metcons priced with the price listed on the tag, I was able to find that this particular shoe was Nike Metcon 6, and the running price was $130. In the picture not only is the description wrong, but the price is as well. The tag is for ASICS NOT NIKE METCON. In a nutshell, the person assisting me who scanned the barcode, and looked at the shoe I gave him should have noticed that it was incorrect. The employees were not helpful. I had to request that someone help me even though there were people standing around in the shoe department that worked there. They had this look of not wanting to be bothered when asked questions. I understand entirely that people make mistakes however since the bar code the employee has scans the code on the shoe, I felt that this error should have been caught. I was holding a black, silver, and white shoe, and the shoe tag is for a navy and teal Gel type shoe. Other shoes could be tagged incorrectly, and as a result shoes that are in stock, are being represented as out of stock. They have an open parking lot that is free but shared. I personally did not find my visit to this location pleasant especially after realizing shoes are being tagged wrong. I bought an exercise bike through Dick's Sporting Goods on Woodhaven Blvd in the Middle Village/Glendale area. The salesman Evan was very devoted and spent 2 hours to help me pick out and order an exercise bike that I am hoping is appropriate for me. The problem is that the item was ordered on-line and there was a $100 shipping charge through their carrier ... which is UPS to deliver the package to my home. The package was delivered by UPS on 2/16/19 and UPS delivered my 140 pound exercise machine curbside. According to my security guard the driver was supposedly returning to bring my package upstairs and didn't. I made 2 phone calls to UPS complaining and told me it was my problem. Meanwhile, I went and bought myself a hand truck that cost me a lot of $$ to support my 140 pound package and my hand truck can't be returned now that I used it. I went called Dick's on Sunday 2/17 and spoke to Evan and even made an appearance on 2/18 as well to complain how I was charged the $100 for delivery and how UPS left my package curbside. All Dick's did for me was give me a $20 gift card to apply towards the assembly charge of my bicycle. I think that Dick's could of done 1 of 2 things. Either reimburse me the $100 delivery charge and fight for their $$ back from UPS or pay the $75 assembly fee to my new exercise bike. I will NEVER order anything on-line again at Dick's for my packages to be left at curbside by UPS. In the meantime Evan has told me that I was the second customer that UPS has done this to. I have only ever shopped at Dick's online but decided to take a chance and make the hour's trip to visit this store so I could see their goods in person. Frankly, I wish I had stayed at home. The store is huge and relatively well stocked but forget it if you want assistance. The people working here are mainly teenage boys and men in their early 20s who hide from you on purpose. When I finally got someone to help me, they acted like I was massively inconveniencing them, despite the store only having a handful of customers and coming in a good few hours before closing time. All I wanted was to know the price of one of the bikes and to unlock a product from the display wall. I went home and bought from a competitor instead. read more

This is a decent Dick's although usually come here for outdoor stuff this one does not have a huge outdoor section. The fishing section is pretty well stocked though but not so much as far as tents and outdoor camping stuff. They have a decent section of it but it just has the basics. Tons of clothing and Sports gear though. They have stuff for men and women. Tennis, Golf, Baseball, football, Lacrosse ,etc. Pretty much every sport is covered as far as equipment and clothing. Two weeks ago Sunday early evening, I entered the former Sports Authority now Dicks Sporting Goods with golf gear on my mind. Customers and cars were buzzing around outside, inside the store there was quite a croud of customers on checkout lines, all in and around every corner of the stores displays. So I opted to not do a curiously lap, rather, keep the focus of just golf related products. Sports Authority lacked in most every merchandise of golf and located to the far rear, Dicks did a fine job addressing this problem. Located at the front, the size for golf items increased three times, merchandise is well displayed and is far more plentiful. Minus having all the top brands Taylor, PING, Titleist, Callaway, Cobra there is a mini putting green to roll a few putts. A hitting area didnt allow me 2 test drive a few 6 irons, but was more of a launch monitor. Typically used to determine the clubs angle and speed upon impact with the ball. Give it a try, a monitor will track the path of the ball.. read more

This place is absolutely terrible i ordered 2 bikes for pick up after 30 minutes i receive two emails canceling my order , i drove 2 hours to pick up these bikes. One bike had 6 in stock, the other at 4. I payed 400+ for these bikes just for them to be out of stock . I also had spoken to customer service and they had also said it was in stock until those later 30 minutes. Definitely don't recommend service is the worst ! read more

There were 3 Associates hanging around talking. Nobody could be bothered to help. I saw a shoe I wanted and didn't see my size in the boxes that were visible. I went to the group and asked if they had my size in the back. The look I got made me realize that they did not like my interrupting their conversation. I did find shoes I wanted and I took them to check out. I got a good price so no complaints there. However, I did notice there were more employees in the place than customers. I was there on Sunday with my son to try to buy some exercise equipment and experienced the worst customer service ever. As soon as my son picked up one of the dumbells to try out, he was approached by this long haired white man with the name Allen on his name tag, ordering him to put it down. Then when I tried to ask for some information about a gym set, he refused to answer any questions and just said they only have the one on display and don't sell items on display. His attitude was terrible and condesending and did not want to help in any way. He even told us to get out of the store. If it wasn't for the presence of my son, there would have been a nasty confrontation and Mr. Allen would have most likely ended up on the shorter end. Sorry we ever wanted to give business to this store. This Allen should be fired immediately. read more

Went in to purchase some sports sun shades for my teen who plays softball. Since they had the shades behind the glass in the counter behind register, I waited for assistance. After not getting any attention I asked one of the register employees to assist me. He gave me a quick look and said he can't and that he would get to me after the line was cleared. Problem was that the line was big. I asked for him to call someone on the floor to help me and he said that he couldn't. I told him it didn't make sense for me to wait what would probably be a long time just to see if the Oakley shades would fit right for my teen. He ignored me and didn't pay attention to me anymore. I told him that he was risking losing a customer and a sale in the hundreds (shades were $220) if he didn't provide what I thought was decent customer service. He looked at me, waved me off and ignored me. I have spent thousands of dollars at this location. From Baseball, soccer, softball and basketball equipment to clothing. It's a shame that they feel customers are a burden instead of an opportunity and don't care to keep loyalty among those who appreciate good customer service. This is the last time I step foot in this location and at Dicks period! I rather go to Modells or better yet, Amazon. Pay attention to your customers or lose them forever. You do not provide better value than your competitors. You are mediocre at best. Shame on you! read more

These four fellows : VIjay, Ruben, Keanu, and Will did an amazing job with my bike. With having to go back two times to get my bike fixed, it really was just a smooth process to my new completed bike! First time on the beach with my new bike and the chain immediately goes crazy. I brung it in and the manager Veejay immediately looked into it and had me walking out with my new bike in no time. Fast forward 1 month later and my bike happened to mess up again with the chain. The staff there really made this frustrating experience more easy to deal with. I highly recommend these gentlemen and appreciated there great positive attitude towards my situation. read more

Passing time while in the area for brunch and a little window shopping the Michaels, Home Depot shopping complex with a fellow Yelper Glenn V. we stopped by DICK's. If memory serves me correctly I remember the previous tenant of this building was another sporting goods retail store... the antiquated and ailing Sports Authority. I found Sports Authority focused too heavy on sport clothing but lack concentration on sport equipment as golf clubs, golf balls, ice skates, or helmets for bicyclist. Fast forward to the new tenant- DICK'S is very bright and there is no shortage of stock inventory for nearly every sport category. There is something for both women and men. We ventured to the golf department and tried their indoor golf practice facility which was cool including the illusion of bird sound simulators to fend a close-to realistic golf course. The staff attending this facility permitted Glenn V. to several swings. DICK's carry major and renowned brand name sport merchandise to enable the sport enthusiast to strive a great play for an outstanding result. Note: The outdoor garbage disposal by the main entrance was overflowing with strewn rubbish and when informing a staff member nothing was done to replace the bag and clean the debris. Newly opened! Dick's Sports finally has a location in Queens. It replaced the old and outdated Sports Authority. They did a great job turning this store around. Inside looks bright and every section is neatly organized. The baseball section is great but the glove sizes here are massive. They don't carry many infielder/pitcher gloves. As for baseball accessories, they have it all here. The shoe section also looks nice. It's much more open and not crammed into aisles. The cycling area is another area that is much improved. They have a variety of helmets, different sizes, children bikes, men and women bikes, and many cycling accessories as well. The best area would probably be the golf section. I'm no golfer but I enjoy the occasional trip to the driving range. The variety of golf clubs, gloves, balls, apparel, putters, drivers, bags, it's makes you feel like a kid in a candy store at times. You just don't know what to get. What really impressed me, the staff. They were willing to help and assist customers to their needs. The old sports authority was the worse. They hired hood rats that knew nothing about the product. Over here, I saw a staffer actually helping and knowing what he was talking about in the fishing section. This is what I like. I hated going to stores like sports authority or even Walmart, and staffers didn't have a clue about fishing reels, rods, golf, camping gear. All they knew about were basketball shoes and authentic fan gear. I hope Dick's Sports can keep this up and not turn into bankrupt sporting goods store. There is one part of this store I really dislike and it's in the parking lot in front of their main entrance. They should really consider marking down a crosswalk on the ground and add a few crossing signs. Drivers that are heading towards the Home Depot have no regard for anybody walking through the parking lot to get to Dick's. many customers from Trader Joe's also park in this lot. I'm happy that I don't have to drive to Valley Stream or Garden City to visit this sporting goods store! This location is about 15 minutes from Queens Center Mall and is located next to a Home Depot and across the street from the Trader Joe's and Michaels shopping center. A nice addition to the neighborhood and has opened with new merchandise for the Spring. The inside is very bright and the aisles are fully stocked! I did notice some items may not have price tags yet but the employees were able to look up the prices quickly. I was particularly looking for ski pants and was informed this location does not have a winter sports section. However they did offer to have me order online from a computer and ship it to my house for free! There was an employee who was helping me through the process as well. For opening weekend they gave away mystery gift cards to the first 100 people in line. I did not qualify for one but I did receive a Dick's tote bag. This is the new place (replacing Sports Authority in Glendale's little strip mall area). Very accommodating and pricing is reasonable. We went in for sneakers, gloves, sport packs, athletic socks and a couple of beginners fishing rods. They even accommodated the 10% educators discount that Sports Authority offered, which was great. The gentleman in front of me was trying to return an item and I guess he didn't give them the correct credit card at first. The cashier was basically accusing him of not having purchased the item with such an attitude. They eventually resolved it but the guy never got an apology. Then I get the same cashier to check out and she is signing and complaining about taking her break. She then ignored everything I said about the boxed item I had not having all the pads it said it included. She immediately tells me that the "doesn't appreciate the attitude" I apparently was giving her. I left my items behind and will find another store to purchase my sporting goods from. read more

Yesterday , I took the time to travel to this location from central Brooklyn , desperately needing this Under Armour 64oz water cooler for my partner and her mail carrier job . One of the workers definitely didn't make the experience yesterday memorable for a first timer . This location is absolutely huge, felt like a kid in a candy store. Upon arrival, I tried looking for the water cooler myself ; which turned out to be a lost cause. I went to the front by the register and asked Ashley, one of the workers if they have it . Ashley started making the call in for said item, no response after 4 failed calls . She asked Joanne, her co workers if they have it but she looked too annoyed and didn't want be bothered to even care. Which give me the impression , she doesn't like to work here . That's is fine but don't let your costumers feels that. Ashley then called again to the back workers for the cooler once more. That's when Joanne finally mention that's her ear piece doesn't work . Now I know you don't like your job, why wait til the last minute to say that. Ashley called for Eddie to help find it for her . clean, organized, modern-looking, and well-stocked. what's very helpful is that the staff have an inventory app on their phone, so they can instantly check if a specific shoe size is in stock. minimized the time wasted on "let me run to the back and see" when queuing up an assortment of picks. not sure why there's only two fitting rooms, though. I think that's a bit inefficient, especially with having to wait for them to be unlocked by staff. I'd rather buy clothes and shoes in person given the unpredictable variation between brands and product lines, and Target and Macy's don't have the best selection of athletic gear. the fact that I get frequent coupons and recently got a gift card for winning our company's step-counting challenge is further incentive to shop here. new running shorts and shoes, AHOY! read more

Very bad customer service. Ashley, the cashier doesn't seems like she knows what she is doing. She is rude with a bad attitude. I went to exchange an item I brought online. I call Dick's before I head to the store and was told I can exchange item. Both item cost $9.99. I paid for my item online with Dick's reward cash. When I went to do the exchange Ashley told me I can't do a even exchange. I had to paid about $8 more to do the exchange. That would mean that I'm returning my $9.99 item for another $9.99 item and paid additional $8 to do the exchange. Which means I would wind up paying $18.98 for an $9.99 item. WTF! What are they teaching them in school these days? How dumb can she be. She kept going to the cashier next to her to ask what to do. The cashier next to her is as dumb as Ashley. They both concluded that because I paid with the Dick's reward cash, I have to pay additional $8 to do the exchange. I explained to her that I call Dick's and was told I can do an even change since both items are the same price. I could have returned it online and Dick's will send me the replacement at no additional charge. I needed to use the item soon, so I opted to exchange it in the store. Ashley finally called for a supervisor. He came over and she told him I brought in a $9.99 item to change for another item that cost $9.99. But that i brought my item with Dick's reward cash point. He took one look at the transaction and said that's fine. I don't need to pay a penny more for the exchange. What kind of morons are Dick's hiring? Or is it just the Queens location. I find the people that works at Dick's Sporting Goods in Long Island to be much more nicer. Avoid the Dick's Sporting Good store if you can. Go to Garden City location instead. read more
