Wow, after reading two horrid reviews I was really skeptical about coming here, but a friend of mine who has used this place in the past said they do an Excellent job in embroidery work on sports jerseys. I have a hockey jersey that I wanted embroidered with my main man NY Rangers goalie extraordinare #30 Henrik Lundqvist put on. For starters the 2 men that I dealt with were strictly business. No small talk, no smile just what do you need, this is the price, should be ready by this date and I'll give you a call when it's ready. The price I paid to have the jersey embroidered was not cheap, but honestly it came out really nice! The stitching and alignment of the letters and numbers were spot on! The jersey was ready in 3 days. The reason they are getting 3 stars is because of the "This is Strictly business" attitude with their customers. They weren't mean or nasty but cracking a smile and engaging in small talk just makes good business sense. I don't know call me old fashioned, but I was always taught "you catch more flies with honey than with vinegar!" I would still go back because the workmanship is solid and you get what you paid for. Despite the other bad reviews this place was too close to me not to give it a shot and I am glad I did. I went there to get numbers sewn on the back of my Yankee jersey. I didn't get any of the attitude that others were complaining about. I dropped off the jersey and the price came out to $12 for two numbers which was cheaper than I thought. I was expecting to get it back in around a week but surprisingly they called me back that afternoon to say it was ready. It looked great. They were responsive to any questions I had. And the saga continues..... Picked up the missing items today, you think he would at least apologize for the poor service. Not. He actually tried to spin it around and make it our fault that his company didn't deliver on time and according to spec. George even had the nerve to say he only made $70 on an $800 order! They're the only place in Queens I found that allows you to bring in your own products to have printed. This is particularly of value because I wanted to get Under Armour lacrosse pinnies done, and not many print shops carry these. They turned out amazing! The print job cost $18 each. I had a fairly complex design on one side and they nailed it. I can also bring anything back to have the same design done. My fraternity brothers were beyond ecstatic when I got these back to campus. De Phillips also embroiders any other sporting good you can think of, so they're pretty full service. I was treated very nicely and will definitely think of them first when it comes to getting any print jobs/embroideries done. read more

I go to De Phillips fairly regularly for some hockey equipment; a quick stick, some tape, pucks, etc. It is a shame that there are hardly any other options for hockey in Queens, so these folks pretty much run the show unless you want to drive out to Exit 38 on the LIE. The only actual thing that bothers me here is friendly service. I just never seem to get smiles from those who work there. They are often eager to help and will offer tips and services for special requests, but sometimes I feel like I'm putting them out because they don't really seem "happy" to help me. I know they do a lot of work for many local baseball teams, which is understandable because I know their work is solid and reliable. But I don't like feeling like I'm small change when I walk into a store just because I'll be spending less than $50 on a stick and a roll of red tape. I feel that if there was more competition in the area, they'd be a little more chipper and enthusiastic about the little guy. I don't mean to rip on them though. These guys definitely know their stuff inside and out and they are rock solid with the service they provide and the quality of the goods they offer...and they do more than just baseball and hockey. Though I wish I saw a few more smiles, I do enjoy this place a lot. read more

This is quite possibly one of the worst businesses I've ever dealt with in my life. That goes for any business (food, clothing, etc). I had jerseys made for my softball team here last season and they completed them but it did take a little long. But then I came back here a few weeks ago to have more jerseys for the team made. We only needed 3 jerseys made, and a captains patch added to a separate jersey. I was told that to add the patch would take about 3-4 days then I could pick up the jersey. I ended up not hearing from them at all until finally I called 2 weeks later to see if anything was ready. I was then told "everything will be ready tomorrow afternoon". Went in the next day only to be told that they still had to put the captains patch on, something that should have been done immediately because it was so simple. Anyways they then tell me "come back tomorrow everything will be ready then". Go back today to be told "it's not ready yet everything will be done around 5:00." I went back around 5:00 and everything was finally ready. The captains patch looks terrible and Helen Keller could've done a better job of stitching it on. I highly recommend staying away from this place. They are nothing but liars who do not care about their customers at all. I don't know how they have been able to stay in business this long but I doubt they will be for much longer with service like this. Take your business to Stitches or an online store before going here. Terrible business. read more

Complete jerk off job at this store . They are notorious for dragging jobs out , especially smaller jobs that could be a quick buck . Regardless just go to stitches and save yourself the hassle . I was told 3 different times that my item was ready and upon arriving for pickup a different employee had told me the product wasn't even looked at much less completed . I grew up in Queens New York , and as a ten year old snot nose kid,.I played little league baseball in the De Phillips Athletic League for several years. . Many fond memories of De Phillips sporting goods store in Flushing. My very first glove was a Rawlings model PM14x...Gene Woodling. I still have that glove to this day. Preserved under glass in a wooden box. I take it out periodically, and rub it with an old can of neetsfoot oil I bought at Tony's store in Flushing. Those were the best of times Tony...You were always gracious with us kids and I will never forget you... You may not have been a big major league star, but to hundreds of us little kids you were the best. read more

This place has got to be the worse sports store ever. I have never in my life have received such god awful service. It has taken the man George literally over eight months to get my uniform. I was told by my coach that he has my uniform ready to go. My uniform was a jersey shirt, shorts, t-shirt, and a warm up jersey. Guess what? HE HAD NOTHING FOR ME when I came into the store. The guy Georgie says "hey I just ordered it and it should be coming soon so I will give you a buzz once the items are in." I have waited over two months for a call from the guy and nothing has never happened. I call the store again and he tells me the same thing so alright I thought he probably forgot about me. This cycle continues to repeat for the next five months every three weeks. I have been to this store about five times just to deal with this and not even get something for my uniform. Each time the man gives me a different answer such as "it got lost in the basement, it never came, i just re-ordered it, and etc." The guy never even apologized saying "Sorry but the stuff isn't in yet.". One day my dad decided to go in for a serious talk for this terrible customer service this guy is giving us. Just five days later I call and I am told that my stuff came in and are ready to go. Once my dad and I get there I see him putting the numbers on my uniform...did he not say that my stuff is ready to go? Unprofessionally he hands me the uniform unfolded and parts of the heat paper stuck on the numbers (what a sloppy job after having 8 months). The guy has not even considered store credit, a refund or apology for his poor business. By the time the stuff was ready my volleyball season has been way over and therefore useless. If a veteran teammate has not been injured I would have not been able to wear his uniform and play during part of the season. The man George has not ordered my uniform the entire time and therefore i have been unable to compete for the majority of the season. During the time my teammate has been injured it has only been a month and a half meaning that my teammate's surgery and recovery has taken much less time than me getting my jersey. I used Dephiliips for about two years. I had to stop using them because George, the owner, would constantly give me the runaround. I would order something and it would take months, not weeks to get it. Or...I didn't get it. Their customer service is TERRIBLE!!! I would never use them again. We went to this store to get a baseball cap embroidered for our coach, and the man working there said that it would be done the next morning and that he would call when we could pick it up. The next day, we were waiting for the call but didn't get it, so we called in the afternoon at around 2:30. He said that the hat would be done at 4. When my friend told him that he said it would be done in the morning, he told her with such a rude attitude that we were lucky that they were doing the hat on such short notice and that usually it takes two days. I don't understand why he would tell us he could do it by the morning, and then say 4, and then tell us that it usually takes two days. Mind you that we were only ordering one hat with two words embroidered on it, so it shouldn't even take that long. I also did not appreciate the attitude he gave us. Also, when we went to pick up the hat, it was the only embroidery hat job that they had, so that just shows that it would not take a long time to do it. I will not be going here again. read more
