Multiple encounters with rude customer service people there. The kids need diversity training as they are clearly raising young racist in this Pleasanton store. I have, as a person of color, seen and known discrimination, subtle and overt racism. Whenever I go to this store for my team, for supplies, spending my money, I get treated like I don't belong there. I wanted to place an order for 70 tumblers for our staff appreciation week. Dick's on line ordering limits me to 4 of the item a day. When I ordered my first order of 4 tumblers and called back the next morning, the order would not process. The reason was that I had placed the order only 23 hours previously and the next order has to be at least 24 hours to the minute. After being on hold for 27 mins. and speaking with Ms. Johnson and Cal, her supervisor, they said even they cannot place more than 4 unless 24 hours have past since the first order. This is quite frustrating and my order for 70 tumblers will now be through Amazon. read more

This place does follow its own discount policy. A green dot is supposed to be 75% off the lowest discount price, see picture. It's supervisor told me, first, that's only for apparels, then told me the list price is the price, ignoring their sign. It's this guy untrained, or simply bait and switch. Never come back again. Update for the new year 2022 Was informed by the golf Galaxy manager that I could get a fitting on the spot, and was quoted by the technician that I could be seen in the next 10 minutes or so while he finished up with his client. So after 10 minutes my daughter and I came back as I was the one to get fitted, and after multiple return visits to the fitting station, with the technician knowing I was present - he continued to ignore and not acknowledge my daughter and I waiting when he quoted the time he could help us. Continued having his casual conversation with two clients would not even a word that he would be with us. So I've seen this guy work before continues to ignore customers amazed how we still works here how lazy he is and unprofessional. Sometimes you just get these golf heads that want to pass time and work in a golf shop where they obviously don't belong helping customers. I voiced my complaint already to management and corporate but this company just fails in everything. Do not buy their zero gravity reclining chairs as the nuts and bolts come off leaving you with crap... These are the chairs that recline all the way back kind of like a lazy boy. 60 day on store return policy, but these chairs will fail fast... Just see their display units if these chairs and they are already breaking apart, yet the leave the product in the floor for us to buy??? I was greeted by Jessie in the shoe section. She was full of smiles and very perky. She asked me what I was looking for and I told her. She took me to that section, and she started giving me attention to detail on the shoes! I was very impressed, because that just does not happen anymore! Jessie was sweet and warm. She gave me 'beyond" excellent customer service, where I had to ask her if the store gave their employees a commission, but apparently, they don't. We purchased a bike online and were given an email that it was ready to be picked up. My husband went to pick up the bike. When he got there, they said that the bike was defective and that we should have gotten an email or call saying that they didn't have the bike. No calls or emails were made prior to this or he would not have gone to pick it up. My husband asked for a refund. He got an email saying that we picked it up on a different day two weeks later after we requested to cancel the order. We never went to the store that day and didn't pick it up. The store marked it as picked up and charged us for a bike that we never recieved. We are still trying to get our money back from a bike that never got. We have called multiple times and it's been a complete headache. We still have not been refunded for a bike we never received after they lied and said we picked it up. read more

The guy kept saying next on number 6 when my boyfriend was in front of him. He treated him like he was invisible. Never shop at Dicks. I bought three pairs of sweat pants that did not fit. I returned them, Since I bought through Pay Pal Dicks, said I would get refund from Pay Pal. Pay Pal says Dicks disputed condition and would not refund me. Now I do not have my money back or my product.. BTW product was excellent, I just tried them on and put them back in box. I am out $165 and Dicks is out a customer who spent a lot of money with them, I also cancelled my Pay Pal account. They are not pals and their crap about being convenient is not true. First review of Dick's Sporting Goods, but I have a love-hate relationship with this store. Currently, the status is the latter. I've long since cancelled my credit card under their name after a series of major blunders by this Dublin, CA store. Sports Authority and Sports Chalet have closed. My loss. Lately, the issues arise when I find something online and either come in to find it, or when I order online with pick up in store. I'll leave out last week's issue with the former and focus on today re the latter. Ordered a M and L black compression tank for son. Picked up both using the online order/pick up in store touch screen/scanning station. Son thought L fit better so I brought back M during a later trip to Lowe's nearby. As part of the trip I also ordered online a L in white. Two big LA tournaments coming, they are an Under Armour team, so only that brand can be worn, even for compression tanks beneath the jersey. To pick up you have to use the station, then someone goes behind the counter - SAME COUNTER WHERE YOU'RE REQUIRED TO GO FOR RETURNS and in store purchases - then you scan the barcode of the pickup label and leave. Works great until you ALSO have a return. Then you're SHIPWRECKED waiting for this process while more and more people get in line - THE SAME LINE YOU'LL HAVE TO GET IN NEXT FOR THE RETURN. OMFG. Cue Sam Kinison's scream. RIP Sam. Why can't you combine these transactions into ONE TRIP to the counter? They tried to explain it to me but it doesn't make sense because it boils down to constraints of their inflexible system, NOT CUSTOMER SERVICE. Who is the customer again? I need a reminder. Dick's does too. With all the issues of waiting FOREVER for someone to unlock a changing room (more below), salespeople thinking Under Armour makes LeBron shoes (Nike), NO salespeople in the shoe dept, frickin' EVER, while multiple lost souls bounce off the shelves in a stupor, unable to find a shoe so they can part with their money, I'm getting threadbare in this whole experience. And my son, the reason we spend money here in the first place HATES HATES HATES coming here. He thinks they're apathetic, understaffed and disorganized. He's perceptive. My experience with customer service people is they reflect the hiring manager and policies. Dick's is not customer-driven, they are process-driven. They are also spread too thinly, they need more staff. While I was there they were calling for more counter help. If they think that's customer focus my response is they're cutting it too close between flexible resource allocation vs a culture of understaffed, overworked, under-caring pons, stripped of decision-making authority, who cannot think for themselves. They don't even answer one another's calls on their intercom microphone thing near their neck. So: very little gets done. Case in point, not all employees have a key to the fitting room. Are you frickin' kidding me? And so when one of them calls to get it opened AFTER the customer has patiently been ringing the bell for an attendant, NO ONE ANSWERS THE CALL OF A FELLOW EMPLOYEE. And the customer waits, and rots. So I agree with my son and would add: tone deaf and unable to solve problems or manage customers. Not my kind of place. I'm writing this from the parking lot immediately while this is fresh. I pray the company will send me a (un)satisfaction survey. I am so out. I am satisfied with the large safe I purchased. The problem was I was told if I purchased the safe and opened a credit card (which I didn't need) I would get about $100.00 credit to purchase other items later. I returned 5 mths later, loaded up my cart and to my surprise the credit expired. I would no longer get the credit I was promised. This purchase turned out to be a bait and switch. Fun place to browse through. Just opened on May 31, 2013. They have sport stuff for girls, women, boys, and men. They have a glove steamer to customize the fit of a baseball catchers mitt. They offer a rewards card which you could sign up for at the register. They also carry those football and basketball socks which is currently the trend for the kids. Add-on to my awful experience. I was told by customer service i cannot cancel my order but if i wait 4 days and do not pickup the bicycle i will get a refund. Today I visited Dicks to purchase a Corksicle canteen that showed to be in stock at this store on line. The greeter in the store was Anish, the manager. He was quick to say that he's never heard of such a bottle and that they don't have any. I asked him to check stock availability in the system at which point he started raising his voice and getting annoyed with me saying that everything they have is on the floor and that they just don't have any. I even showed him on my phone that it said they should have some in stock. He rudely with a very condescending tone told me well they didn't have any. I asked him for his name because I let him know that his level of customer service was unacceptable and that I was going to report him to the corporate office. Instead of giving me his name he said "Go ahead but I don't want your business here. Leave the store." I got his name from one of the cashiers who was really nice and on my way out Anish was there again so I told him "Bye Anish." He told me to "Get my ass up on out of there." I couldn't believe it! It was crazy! It will be interesting to see what the corporate office does to rectify this. read more

Worst service around. Went in to purchase weight set and bench. The guy seemed as if I was bothering him to check on inventory. After buying the bench, had to call on weight set inventory which they said they, drove here for them to tell me they didn't have any for sale. High prices and crappy service. I offered to buy display set and they didn't sell me it and on the next visit 2 days later the display set was gone! read more

This was the the big grand opening weekend. There were radio stations and huge crowds. The store was nice with a big golf department. The line to checkout was about 30 deep even with the 9 registers open. The cashiers were courteous but with the big grand opening they could have used some more help. read more

I'm a little surprised at the negative reviews for this DSG location. I shop here ALOT and have never had any bad experiences. This store is located in Fallon Gateway. Large, open layout. Things are pretty easy to find. You're greeted right upon entering the store. Lines move pretty quick, can always check out in the Golf Dept if the regular checkout is busy. I've both bought things in store and done store pick up and had good experiences with both. Never a problem with returning online orders either. I mainly shop the Nike apparel and occasionally the weightlifting accessories section. They have a decent selection of Nike apparel but sizes go quick here so if you see something you like, snag it! They'll send you surveys and upon completion send you a coupon for $10 off that can be used on Nike purchases. They have other sales that apply to Nike purchases too, win win! Staff is friendly and make it a point to ask how your day is or chat while ringing you up, even when it's busy :) I've always received assistance when needed and was promptly helped with in store pickup too. This is my main DSG location (I've been to others) and I like this location the best. Oh! And I also think it's awesome that DSG hires employees with special needs, I have been helped by the employee that is deaf mentioned by another reviewer below and he rocks! It as a night-and-day thing; the wife was on the prowl for a waist pack for her keys 'n such, so we visited two sporting goods places back-to-back. The first was teaming with folks in matching polo shirts, the other was Dick's. Aside from the two folks at the counter, nary an employee to be seen. Which was a drag -- for me -- as she mentally checked out of having to seek them out to ask the question, and for me, meant the trip to the second store versus heading off to the things on my to-do list 30 minutes sooner. Dick's seems fantastic for a wide assortment of apparel and shoes, but things get a bit thinner when you're looking for other things... at least at this store. read more

Do you like wandering around and finding that there is no one on the floor to help you? Do you like waiting at the fitting room after pushing the button for assistance to get in and never getting in? Well than Dick's in Dublin is for you. I have never actually received service at this Dick's. I always leave frustrated and without what I need. This review is solely based on one purchase but it is indicative of all the Dick Sporting Goods I have been to. The people at this particular one are friendlier than most but didn't have any clear answers. The purchase was a Finals hat that everybody wanted after the local team earned a 4th consecutive trip. The day after for finding the coveted hat is almost as difficult as winning the "Irish Sweepstakes". I had been to different stores and was told maybe we'll get them this afternoon. I had heard they had some hats here in Livermore/ Dublin and I rushed down to get one. Imagine my surprise that they in fact had them, but they couldn't place on floor yet because they could not "scan them" in their inventory. There It was about an hour wait but I was 1st in line and got the hat. I usually go the night of victory, but I had to work. There was no system in place like giving numbers but as more people came in and heard they had hats; the customers like myself made our own line and respected the rule 1st come 1st served. I was only able to buy one hat but I only needed one. They had all of the other swag like the Playoff Finals tees and lanyards. For the most part the Salespeople were nice but need to be more informed when it comes to specialty items. read more

I've been to this store a handful of times and I've never been super impressed. I don't know what the big deal is about Dicks. Their selection is mediocre and their customer service is nothing to write home about. I like Sports Authority more but they are few and far between. If you absolutely need something sports-related I guess this is the place to go but if you can get it on Amazon or somewhere else, do it. On the flip side if you sign up for their rewards you get coupons on the reg, which makes it a little better. read more

I'm not trying to be a dick, but honestly I've never heard of Dick's Sporting Goods until I was in the market for camping supplies. When I hit the wilderness I go prepared! The favorite spot of the entire store was located at the far left corner where all the knives and ammo were located. I was glad to see ammo prices has dropped, but still overpriced with inflation written all over. We did however received great customer service when picking out knives. They carried machetes to little pocket sized knives. I ended up picking up a Smith & Wesson which is pretty mobile and perfect for my needs. I also picked up an ammo can as well picnic chairs which was a bargain. I'd definitely return. The prices are reasonable and service is top notch. I do however hope to see my favorite sports teams jerseys and accessories in the future. read more

Terrible service. Have a lot of disrespectful teenagers here who are run by an even more rude manager, named KATHERINE. She has a nasty attitude and doesn't do right by the customer who has been consistent. Spent thousands here through the holidays and come back to do 1 return and they don't fully refund? The tags and everything attached and I ask why and they can't tell you they aggressively stand there mad that you want to return something. I asked for their policy and they refused to show it. If you buy here they will give you a problem if you try returning anything. For the price of their items, they need to have better customer service. I won't be coming back. read more

MOSTLY I come here for the bait and tackle, because other departments in this store are too pricey for my taste, but that may be because I'm more frugal than most? They have a pretty decent fishing department, and it's loaded with all kinds of different varieties to suite your fishing needs, although I couldn't find a simple reel under $60 which was disappointing to say the least. I got some GULP soft baits here that work great for bass fishing (horny toad), and some baby bass soft baits that apparently worked for my friend, and they were pretty decently priced, too! Nowadays I usually browse their fishing aisles more for recreation because I bought more bait and tackle here than I probably needed this summer, so Dick's had me set all season lol. Another time I was searching for a simple white polo, and the cheapest one I found was $40 (and that was clearance). Overall I would say Dick's is hit and miss as far as selection goes. I would say if you're on a budget, your best bet is Walmart for bait and tackle and Target for sportswear. read more

Given a choice between Dick's Sporting Goods and Sport Chalet, I'd probably pick the latter. Both are generally better than Sports Authority and all are way better than Big 5. However, you can depend on DSG across the country. I'd first shopped the company around 1995 in Philly. This one was better than sufficient, and someone greeted us as we entered. I didn't see one discount in the whole place. I like that they have a lot of camouflage gear, even though it's expensive. The only other choice I've seen is Walmart. I ended up buying gloves there. If you're looking for the sunglasses, watches, or fitness electronics, they're near the registers. Watch for sales and get the rewards card. read more

Better selection of clothes (adults and kids) than shoes (kids selection felt limited) that would be a 3 star-4 star. However if you are looking for any kind of help or support from the staff- this isn't the place to go. They couldn't measure my kids' feet and made zero effort in helping me in any way. So basically if you are an adult looking for yourself - I am assuming you can be self sufficient and get what you need here. For their haunting/shooting section: Dick's cannot be relied anymore for that instant need for ammo. The most basic of birdshot and they are out of stock. As of current, it is not too hard to find ammo except for 22LR. I think Big5, even though more expensive, have more ammo readily available than Dick's. They do have .223/5.56 but they are haunting rounds so their very expensive. Also, their long gun selection hasn't changed since they've opened. They don't have a lot of selection so they put four to fiveguns of the same model on the rack to fill it up. read more

I really like going to Dick's. They've got a great selection of athletic equipment and gear as well as clothing, shoes, and bags. I like that it's not just for runners, or for field sports...they cover a lot of activities and the Golf Pro Shop always makes me want to take up golfing! They're always friendly, and I like that they aren't up in your face the minute you walk in. We recently bought a treadmill here and the customer service was great. They explained the extended warranty/maintenance plans available but didn't try to hard sell me on any particular option (I opted for the highest level, but that was by my choice, not from pressure from sales). read more
