Sixth (6th) visit to this store. Wanted to make a $200 archery purchase. NO ONE was in the section. Called the store on my cell phone, asked that they send someone to the department, and was put on hold. A clerk appeared after 10 minutes with no archery knowledge what so ever. Went to a terminal to start an on-line order. And this was the first sales person I have spoken to in all six visits. What a disappointment. Never ever going back. And this company sponsors Bowl Games? Should be Davey Scatino's Sporting goods store and may Tony Soprano leave with the goods. Waste of time. Multiple wastes of Time. read more

I'm doing the Insanity workouts and my running shoes weren't cutting it - I needed a cross trainer shoe. I go on a quiet Friday afternoon. Their shoe dept is huge - but they have only one person working it. I ask someone outside of the department for help - he gets on his little microphone and says someone will be right out to help me. I wait 10 min. The one lady in that section is STILL helping someone else. I go back to the guy and and ask if there is only one person working that department - he says "i guess so". Finally the woman frees up and approaches me. I told her what I'm looking for. She asks me "Well did you look to see what we have?" and I replied "It looks like you have 3 columns of cross trainers surrounded by running shoes". She said "what you see is all we have". I explain to her I have a wide foot. She said "We don't carry wide cross trainers - not even on our website". So I spent 20 minutes in the store to leave empty handed. I took my business to Sports Chalet - great service and they even had a display of reebok cross trainers. Now the people in Dick's were nice - I'm not knocking them - it's just that service was bad and selection was worse. read more

The employees at this dicks are rude we walked in and they didn't even say a word. They never said do you need help. Maybe dicks sporting goods should focus on hireing people who are customer friendly instead of athletes in high school or collage only one woman was nice. This place doesn't sell Jordan's stuff. Huge disappointing that I drive all the way here from Fremont and no Jordan's. waste of gas and waste of my time with bad traffic where I can go to Nike store at great mall instead. Price are super expensive than sports authority. Plus Nike stores is way cheaper than dicks sporting goods. This place is supper small than Sports authority which is way bigger more Variety. Worse customer service ever. Bought an item and didn't know I couldn't return it. I told the guy at the register that I wasn't told at the time of purchase. Then he said there was a letter "N" next to the item on the receipt. Like I'm supposed to know that. His answer was "oh well". While he was processing my return, he said something and I said "pardon me?" He then said he wasn't talking to me with the worse attitude. This store has THE WORST customer service. I placed an order online for pick up at the Dublin store. Received emails telling me the order was being processed and to wait for a final email to say the item was ready for pick up. Email never came so I called the store and was told to come on in, they would pull my item right off the shelf. When I got there, the store manager could not have been ruder, telling me I should not be there yet, they didn't have time to process my order, etc. I waited 15 minutes and finally they brought up my item. Came here a month ago or so looking for a support strap for my ITband and was looking in the running section(where I would reasonably assume running support equipment would be), but was told by an employee that they are all in the basketball section and when I showed confusion as to why it's in a completely irrelevant section for running, she shrugged her shoulders and said she didn't understand it either. Went to look for the strap I needed, but couldn't find it and when I asked an employee if they had it, he said he dk what I was talking about and never heard of an IT band support strap and showed me a patella support strap. I ended up getting a new pair of running shorts and some sports bras that were on sale before leaving. read more

First time in this store and right when we walked in there were two tables full of giants shirts my boyfriend consodered buyinh my mother one for christmas and he looks at the "sale" sign and it reads "was $25/ Now $25!! Umm whats the point of yhat? We laughed pointed it out to the supervisor he pulls the sign and laughs it off like idk if anyone even realized this. If I could give negative stars I would. This store has employees that are sub par. The socks I pictured were clearance and buy one get one free when I got to the register they rang up full price I told the associate that the price was wrong. She radios someone to do a price check and they said they were not on clearance I went back to the section and the person supposedly price checking wasn't even over there. I took the photos as proof to the cashier and she still debated with me. Called a supervisor (same guy we had handed to bogus sale sign to upon entering the store) over he looked at the photos and still disagreed with me. If my son didn't gave his heart set on the two pairs of shoes I was buying him I would have walked out without giving them a dime. Definitely not going back... read more

Kindness matters. I am not generally a fan of big box stores, but when I flatted on my road bike coming down Fallon and pinch-flatted my spare I found myself in a desperate situation. I went in and they had 2 tubes matching my needs. The gentleman, Jim Prime, building bikes in back let me use his stand and compressor to change my tire. He was personable and helped me work out payment since I did not have my wallet with me. I may not choose this as my every day bike shop, but I will come back for other sporting goods after being shown this kindness. Thanks Jim and good job Dick's! read more

I really like going to Dick's. They've got a great selection of athletic equipment and gear as well as clothing, shoes, and bags. I like that it's not just for runners, or for field sports...they cover a lot of activities and the Golf Pro Shop always makes me want to take up golfing! They're always friendly, and I like that they aren't up in your face the minute you walk in. We recently bought a treadmill here and the customer service was great. They explained the extended warranty/maintenance plans available but didn't try to hard sell me on any particular option (I opted for the highest level, but that was by my choice, not from pressure from sales). read more

If I could give 10 stars right now, I would! My daughter got a softball bat a month ago at Dick's and it snapped in half this morning. We went in to get a new one, and Eme overheard our conversation with another employee. Eme ended up finishing with another customer and then gave my daughter the best experience possible. Eme noticed we were looking at the wrong size, so took my daughter into the cage and had her swing a bigger size. The bat was out of stock in Dublin, so the manager called several stores for us as my daughter has a tournament tomorrow. No luck finding it, so Eme cleaned up the Demo bat to look brand new and they sold us the bat at a discounted price. Plus they took back the broken bat, even though I did not buy the protection plan like I should have. By the way, Eme was supposed to get off at 8:00, but ended up helping us until 9:00 when the store closed. We walked out with a great bat, with a new grip on it and my daughter is thrilled! Had we not seen Eme, we would have walked in, bought the wrong bat and not exchanged the old one, as I thought we were out of luck. Thank you Eme! read more

Have you ever called a store to check if they had an item in stock? Then you get an answer like "sure" or "I think". Well this was not the case for Dick's. When I called they actually went to the shelf and looked at what I wanted. As luck would have it they only had one left! Paul (I only asked for his name so I would know who blame when it wasn't there) asked if he could hold it for me...and he actually did! BIG THANKS, I drove all the way from Concord for it. This store is ok when you look at the inventory, too bad the personnel is so unprofessional. No communication between departments, instead finger pointing. Just a quote: "Sorry but that would not have happened in my golf department, these tennis boys let things pile up before they start working on it. We won't let you wait for a week like that". I rather have them help me properly. Instead of finger pointing to others. No wonder that what one guy promises, the other guys doesn't know, or "Sorry, I don't know how to do that sir." Or: "The boy can promise you whatever he wants, but I don't see anything here (pointing to receipt) and no one told me anything." No structure: "Where are the order forms? Sorry sir, I can't find the order forms. Do you have a moment?". So that happened every time, not just once. Too many juniors. "I will bring it up with the shop manager.", instead of dealing with it on the spot. Hanging at the shoe department: no one helps. Fitting room that shows red on thedie lock when available (since day one: never fixed). Manager talking down on personnel through the radio in a very negative way. No wonder personnel don't dare to truly help customers when something needs to be fixed. All gift cards or money back or whatever probably goes off their paycheck. I can go on and on with what I have experienced there. Not all people are like that of course, but today Dick's lost a customer never to return again. Untrained personnel. No communication. Horrible customer service. Bought exercise equipment that had two parts that needed to be a right and left to build. I received two rights making it impossible to build. Dick's refused to provide the correct part, stating I had to go to the manufacturer. Ashley and Jasmine were of no use what so ever. Dick's got my money, but tell me I have to fix the problem. Have been here a few times. Very clean store. Well ran. There's slats promotional events going on here. Staffs are nice and courteous. Although not very knowledgeable with most sporting equipments. Especially at the gun/ammo counters but hey, at least they're not assholes like most running a gun counter. Big store, well stocked. Not sure if it's just me, but I feel they have a large selection of each type of item they carry,but not a whole wide selection of everything. So best way to put it is, selection is limited, but have a very wide selection of whatever that's available. Gun counter consist of mainly hunting related items and guns. Ammo selection / options are ok. Prices are a OK to little bit high in retail standards. But no so bad. They do have sales and coupons to make it reasonable. Checkout line is nice, fast, and efficient. And again, they are all very nice and polite. My overall experience have mostly been positive here. No complaints. I would buy here instead of sports authority if prices were little cheaper. read more

Norma you run an awful store! Your cashier paged you several time to help me find an item. I waited 30 min for someone to help me. You finally showed up to say "you're looking for a trampoline? Did you see a trampoline?" If I did, I wouldn't solicit your help. Your cashier up front me pacing from 8pm to 8:30 but committed to "I'm only the cashier, I don't know where those are". No one in your store cares! I can't imagine running my office this way. You run an awful, awful store. read more

Pretty good place to shop. They have all types of sporting goods. Since most of the sporting good stores are closed I guess this is the place we have to go to now that was more of a fan of Sport chalet but they're gone now. This place is big and the people are pretty friendly read more

My sister and I just had the BEST customer service experience in any store, ever. We were looking for a San Jose Sharks' shirt for her daughter and called Dick's Sporting Goods in Dublin from the Big 5 in San Ramon (they didn't have it). We spoke with Manny about the shirt and he put us on hold for about 2 minutes. He returned to tell us all the styles available and we asked him to hold them. As soon as we walked in the store Manny was there with one of Every Single Sharks shirt to show them to us! He and Matt (who helped us check out) made sure we had what we needed and made it so easy. I wish I could have had that stellar experience some of these people have mentioned. All the good employees must work during the day! I think they save the kids for working at night. I have no problem with summer students, what I have a problem with is no training in customer service skills. I bought a pair of shoes that was clearly marked on sale. The kid would just parrot the price of the shoes that he scanned - no more, no less. He wasn't going to lift a finger. I went and double checked the sign and went into another line. There are some kids that "get it" and luckily this kid understood what needed to be done and called the manager, got the price adjusted, and was very friendly during the whole transaction. If you are going to employ students give them the proper training and skills to achieve and please vet your employees carefully - some just don't cut it. read more

Came in to purchase some ammunition to go shooting at the range and the older gentleman with brown hair and glasses working the counter was extremely rude and short with me. I stood next to him for a minute before asking if he could help me with a purchase and he rolled his eyes at me and walked behind the counter. Yesterday, I attempted to order a treadmill online. A 10% promotion code was available to all new subscribers so I requested and received that code. It didn't work. A gentlemen at their call center said they'd had that problem before. He tried to complete the order for me; it didn't work. Today, I tried again. But, the treadmill, price had been raised $1200. That's also $1200 above the mfg's price. The call center supervisor would not honor the price. Lessons: 1) Their systems for completing orders have issues, 2) Their prices are well above MSRP at least in my situation, 3) They showed no interest in getting my 'support your local retailers' business. I will give thumbs up to the two call center agents who helped me. Their supervisor made decisions that I think were in neither of our interests: I was essentially asking for the price I would have received had their systems processed a promotion code correctly yesterday. read more

Over the past several months, I've tried to refill my CO2 cannister at least three times, but Dick's has been completely unreliable. The first time, they were out of CO2. The second time, there was only one associate available, and he was busy with a gun sale, so he asked me to come back 30 minutes later. I returned an hour later only to find that they were still busy with the same transaction, so I gave up. The third time, the only qualified associate had called in sick. So I've gone to this store a few times to get the occasional sport team shirt and what not. I came in about an hour before close to miss the crowds, so you can imagine it was pretty much dead inside. Everything was fine until I went to check out. I made a comment that I found this on the sale's rack (was looking for a SF Giants shirt). They said on its not on sale and I was like okay well its on the rack there. The Manager made a comment "Oh its not on sale and you know how customer put stuff everywhere" I thought this was really odd coming from a "manager" of the store. Not exactly professional for a customer facing position. I just told him "well it wasn't just one it was a bunch of them hung up on the rack with different sizes" So I was little disappointed at the reaction/answer I received from what I assumed was the manager that night. Either way, I paid the normal price for the shirt cause it wasn't a big deal and isn't detrimental enough for me to not shop here anymore. Overall, they have a good selection of items and their golf side is pretty intensive. Just know that you're gonna have to keep your customer service expectations low - thats all. read more

They have $220 bats you can find for half that online. Not much of a selection either. Most items were less on Amazon. I'm a fan of the golf channel and they always advertise this place. just had to go see for myself. the pro shop is well stocked with the latest and best apparel and equipment. the have a virtual test bench to analyze your swing and im sure with an appointment or something you can get fitted for clubs. I really didn't look into it but it looked like similar fitting facilities i've seen. the store covers team sports, running, camping, fishing, long rifles, cycling-no road bikes :( though, and swimming equipment. The place was busy and i didn't get a chance to ask any associates questions. Just passing through, I was. Seems like any other big (not so big as Bass Pro Shops or Cabela's) sporting goods store. read more

I bought a Calloway golf driver for my son for Christmas. The club broke the first time he used it. I took it back to Dublin store and the manager refused to exchange it and said tough luck you're stuck. Really ?! I had the receipt and everything. Don't shop here for big stuff. I somehow got a number to the regional manager. I told her what happened to me and how I found it hard to believe that Dick's would not back up their merchandise. She was livid at my story but her anger was with her store manager not me. She gave me a pick of any club to replace what had broke and assured me the manager that made me jump thru hoops would be disciplined. While I never like to see people lose their jobs that store manager needs to be fired as she did not represent the values of the company. I drove an hour to get here from where I originally had bought my knee brace which I need for practice. I've called them twice and double checked the SKU number and the style number of the knee brace that I needed and was told that it was the same product. Upon driving 45 minutes there and now having to drive 30 minutes back lo and behold it was not the same products and because of an original issue of the product being miss labeled in regards to price they also tried to have me pay the difference on the product. I've always enjoyed their selection of products and store size but they seem to only be hiring incompetent or young high school type employees. I understand dicks sporting good isn't a career dream of many people but at least train your employees properly so that when a SKU number or style number is given that you can actually confirm and not have someone drive an hour and a half out of their way. read more

Ordered a bike off their website to be delivered to my house. For whatever reason, it can't be sent directly to the store for assembly. Brought my bike in after it was delivered, waited five days for the call that it was ready. The call never came, so I went in. As it turns out, they couldn't find my damn bike. And they didn't save any of the paperwork from it either. So all I've got is my receipt that I dropped something off and my online bank statement that I purchased a bike from them. They found a bike matching the one I bought, out on the sales floor. Already, an amazing impression. Then, turns out the bike was damaged. Damage that wasn't there when I checked inside the box upon its arrival at my house. So I had to go about getting a refund and ordering a new one. They didn't offer any sort of compensation for the trouble, which I don't need but honestly it's just bad business not doing anything about it. I literally have nothing good to say about my experience, that would have at least been something. The staff seemed like they had no idea what they were doing, either. When they aren't completely ignoring you, they're misunderstanding what you've repeated to them five times, or answering your question with more questions. It goes without saying, I'm going to google how to assemble the bike myself because honestly I don't think I could do much worse than this fricken place did. read more

Went to get a pair of running shoes a few months ago, I am an entry level runner and new more about the shoes than the associate...The employees seem to have generally low morale. She was very kind and we shared a bunch of laughs together. Other than that why I am giving a 4 star is because of this boy as a cashier Antonio was a total ass. He was rude and made me give him my information even though I didnt want to for some "scorecard". He was so nasty and just wanted me to leave and talk on his mic and playing on his phone.
