Dicks has the worst customer service EVER! Thank you hunting and fishing department for showing me how rude and lazy people can be. I have experienced poor service many times before but this time it has pushed me to write a review. I went to the counter looking for a few boxes of ammo, the employee was sitting there talking to the other employee, just casually talking about nothing, I walked over there to get his attention, he just looked at me like a cow looks at an oncoming train, and then resumed talking. When he finally finished several minutes later, he walked over to where I was as slow as molasses in winter time and then just looked at me. He then just said "what do you need?" In such a way that I just ruined his entire day. He reluctantly got the ammo I needed. But then the unthinkable happened... I asked if he had an item in stock. He looked over to his coworker and asked. He then said "yeah, somewhere over there" as he pointed vaguely in a direction without even making eye contact with me. Well, turns out it wasn't there anyway. I'm sorry, but if you work in customer service, actually HAVE some customer service. I will never go to dicks again. Sports Authority has a friendly and helpful staff and I am never disappointed. I was so excited to have a sporting good store close to my house. I came in here looking for a gift for my husband in the hunting section and I stood waiting for about 10 minutes while the guy was helping one customer . Not one word was said to me or was i acknowledged. I know he saw me because he looked right at me , I just stood there while they kept talking and talking. If I didn't need help I wouldn't of waited . Customer service not good ! read more

After driving past Dick's Sporting Goods on the way home a few times, decided to pop in and see what the hype was about. Let's face it - a brand new store so everything is still in tip top shape. Found what I was looking for in the back corner near the bikes and was on my way. Didn't get the steller customer service that a previous reviewer had though. Nobody mentioned anything when walking into and going through the store and check out took a few minutes longer than expected. There were three blond girls that were chit chatting and playfully training each other and bopping from one register to another because apparently they could not decide which one they wanted to open. Finally after standing there a few minutes one of them finally said they could help me. Was the fastest check out I have been through with an emphasized bye at the end. read more

Store is clean. Selection is good. Depending on what you're looking for too. The assistance was great! Very positive experience.

We made a special trip tonight in hopes of finding some new shoes for both our boys. We were also looking to treat ourselves to some new athletic apparel and were very much willing and eager to spend some money. Approaching the shoe section in the back of the store we noticed three employees standing and talking with each other, they were not concerned that we were very obviously lost and in need of assistance locating the toddler sized shoes. Finally after standing and staring for a bit the male in the group asked my husband what we needed. He pointed to the back wall and all three employees walked away. After looking at their pathetic excuse for a selection in kids sized shoes we both decided we were done. We both work in customer service and were so turned off by the lack there of, we ended up leaving and taking our business elsewhere. I will never spend a dime of our money at this place ever again, this was not our first bad experience with poor customer service at this particular location, it was just the icing on the cake for us and I finally decided it was time for a review. We have both been managers in retail and this was completely unacceptable and would never be tolerated at the businesses we have both worked for. To top things off as we were walking out both female cashiers were standing and chatting away behind the counter, we were never acknowledged. Save yourself the disappointment and shop elsewhere, we know better now and will not be returning. I won't even give them one star because after the handful of times we've been let down for bad customer service, 5 strikes and you're out Dick's! One last thing, they do not and will not give a military discount under any circumstances. Update, I had to give them one star because Yelp will not let me post without a star rating. For such a huge store, dicks has a poor selection of medium to low quality products. Most importantly, I've been to multiple stores and Dicks is definately not a place to go if you want ANY sort customer service or knowledgeable staff (especially this store). Do yourself a favor and go to big 5, rei, or sport chalet in Visalia for good products and service. read more

I Visited this store on a Monday afternoon, looking to buy a new pair if athletic shoes.. As I was looking around at the selection and made eye contact with an employee just standing in the area never once did that employee acknowledge me.. Shortly he left and another employee just walking bye ask If I needed help. Although he was helpful he never made eye contact with me. In some serious need of customer service retraining. The check out area was confusion with no directional signs like enter here, the check out guy was more interested with his fellow employee beside him than me as the customer.. read more

Well since our options are so slim, I don't have much choice but to shop here for certain shoe inserts. I totally miss Sports Authority! Dick's has never had a great return policy at all!!! SA was pretty good about that. You can hardly return anything for any reason here! Everything is pretty much overpriced anyway. I like what the one guy said that it's nice to walk around and wish I could afford $100 shorts LOL LOL!!!! True, I can go buy a few pairs somewhere else for that price. read more

Employees are not very helpful. When calling to verify if the store offered military discount the employee I was speaking with was rude and sounded annoyed rather than helpful. I had just spoken with their cooperate who told me the discount varies by store. The store employee I spoke to insisted I was wrong and that it was company wide. My experience at this place was not to good i really don't mind the prices if is something i really like but the costumer service is really bad nobody offer to help and when is close to 9:30 instead of helping they force you to hurry up because is time for then to leave and I don't know this happen because we are Hispanic and think we are not going to pay this type of prices i really never recommend nobody to go there from my Family side and friends!!!! read more

I took my gun in to get it returned back to the factory. I have never seen any company move this slow, took it in February 4, 2013. Today is April 7, and am still getting the same response as i have for the past two months. "Oh sorry sir but I will be sure to write a note for our manager." All time low! Who is their District Manager at this store, understaffed, under trained, and just plain rude. It seems like employees are there to blend into the crowd and be as least attentive as possible! I was in the bike section for 10 minutes hoping to flag someone down. No one around, once I found the associate, she guided me to the dept person, and he wouldn't speak directly to me, rather he would speak through her as if I wasn't there. The checkout staff. Woe! 4 clueless what appeared to be High School Kids asking each other how to complete simple transactions. Most of their answers to the customer questions were negative and rude. I gave up looking for PUMA training shorts. My intention was to return a defective item and get credit and pickup something else, but after that experience I even returned something else I had in my vehicle. JUST DON'T SHOP HERE! Went in to get my wife a pair of shoes. Showed the guy working there a picture and asked for a size 9. He said nope they didn't have it and won't be getting anymore. I called my wife and asked her if a different color was ok. She asked me to take a picture of the ones they had and send them to her. I walked over and asked the guy working if he could tell me which ones he had in a size 9. He was obviously bothered that I asked him a question while he was talking to another associate working there and looked at me and said "We don't have any of those shoes in a 9." I asked him if he was serious and he told me "That he always takes it upon himself to look the first time he goes to the back so he doesn't waste his time." I am glad he feels he would only be wasting his time to look for me but I am very happy that he was able to get back to his story with the other associate.
