I dropped a tennis racquet off this past weekend for stringing. I explained that I needed it by Wednesday. I went by this evening (Tuesday) and was told it would be "ready in an hour." I was a little upset but went off and did another errand and came back an hour later. Once again I was told "it will be ready in an hour." Seriously? I spoke with a manager who had heard the original conversation over his headset and said he knew it would not be ready in an hour. WTF??? I told him this was inexcusable and someone should make it right. I would have been happy for a price adjustment or even a can of balls. However, the guy just said he was sorry. Pricing here is relatively a bit more than what you would usually find online, but being able to pick up gear last minute makes up for the mark up. For general outdoor gear, I find that this is a good alternative for Herb Bauer. They definitely much more generalized and lack specialists, but is cheaper and offer weekly specials. Sports Authority has major competition here. The only real drawback is the customer service on the floor and lack of specialists. I will be back. read more

Went in this morning looking for 9mm ammo. I should have read the reviews. The gun counter guy was stocking made eye contact with me ignored me went on stocking. Bad experience both times my fiancé and I went in this store. He had his golf clubs regripped and didn't seem like the salesperson helping him wanted his business. I didn't think much of it until I went back in to pick up the clubs for him. He said it would be no problem since he already called the store and they said they would be ready for me to pick up. When I went to the store there was no one in the golf area to help me so I went to the check out counter but had to wait for the two salespersons to check out other people. I don't mind waiting, but I waited for a good 5 minutes while both salespeople chatted to the customer about their athletic careers. Not one of them said they'd be right with me. I finally went walking around the store and the golf area to see if anyone could help me but no one was to be found. I went back to the check out counter and again waited over 5 minutes with not even a "we'll be right with you"! They were still chatting with the same customers! Finally one of the salespeople greeted me after she finished with the same customer and I told her I was there to pick up clubs. She called someone on her little mic and there seemed to be some confusion as to what was going on. I asked her what was going on and she asked me to move away from the counter so she can help someone else! Finally, some guy brought up the clubs and didn't even ask who I was or anything. I asked him if these were the right clubs as I was picking them up for someone. He said "Yeah" and walked away. I had to take a picture and send to my fiancé to make sure I was handed the right clubs as the clubs were not labeled. He was considering buying new clubs, but there is no way he would purchase from a store with such little regard for sales or customer service. read more

Great prices on bikes, just don't let them put it together. My son's bike: the did not tighten the pedals, he crashed when it fell off just one month later; the handles bars were not tight, luckily we caught it before there was an accident; same with the front wheel, the brackets that attach to the forks were installed incorrectly and not in the slots. I went in to look at basketball shoes. They had about 6 total pairs to choose from in the men's section. I didn't like any of them and they were all very expensive. I looked around at the clearance shoes and they were still very expensive. I agree with some of the other reviewers, that there are a lot of employees around, but they don't really bother to ask if you need help with anything. A while back I returned a pair of shoes here that I had bought online. It took a while to get them returned and reorder a new pair, but on that particular visit, the girl working there was very helpful. For that reason I can give an A-OK. But otherwise it's fun to just walk around and wish I could buy a $100 pair of shorts. read more

It is large and there are many options but it is very understaffed. I spent about twenty minutes trying to find a sales person person on the floor. The first person I found was helping another customer. I stood there for about five minutes and she did not once even acknowledge my presence or tell me she would help me in a minute. Went in for T-ball stuff for my twin girls and I was so impressed by the help I received. Daniel in the baseball section was very helpful finding the right size equipment for my girls and even convinced me to get the cheaper items because of their age and experience. After that we went to the footwear department to look at tennis shoes for them and Tim was just fantastic. Made me laugh and helped pick out the perfect shoes for them and myself. It's really nice to get this kind of service when you're someone like me who knows nothing about sports lol. read more

We found some accesories for 75% off but the cashier said it was only 25% off. Luckily the manager was there, or the cashier would have just insisted that we were wrong, and just cancel our purchases. The manager found the sale sign and honored the sale. She was nice and helpful. Courtney (our cashier) though, made us feel like we are wasting her time as she had to punch in a code for each item. She looked irritated and didn't even thank us after giving our receipt. We thanked her but she ignored us and called for the next customer in line. Please stop giving your customers attitude! We never raised our voices, and we asked politely. Our experience was marred by the rudeness of Courtney. Your store is organized, and one of your personnel is helpful (she may be an exception to the norm) but we will never shop in this establishment again. read more

I bought a bat for my son that no one helped with for 200.00 the next day his coach said it was to big for him so I took it back to dicks just to get a smaller size , was not asking for my money just an exchange! They said no it was scuffed , the bats are all scuffed they hang next to eachother while everyone swings them and puts them back some have plastics over them some dont! But not even 24 hours later my 200.00 was lost! I spend hundreds of dollars every basketball and baseball season for my son ,but i will never shop at dicks again !
