A small sporting goods store (fishing & shooting guns/ archery only.) Afield does a good job of maximizing the space they have. A wider selection that Meijer or Walmart. New store hours! One of the owners told me they are now semi retired. Afield is now open Wednesday-Friday, 11am-7pm. At first, I considered dropping a star. Only open 3 days a week??? After experiencing their exceptional customer service, and seeing their prices, I decided to keep the 5 star rating. If I need something on a day they are closed, there are a plethora of chain store to choose from. It's nice to support small business when I can. Prices vary. Many items I was looking at were priced lower than Meijer; even Walmart. Low overhead equals savings for their customers. Some items look a little dated, that doesn't mean they aren't perfectly good. At the time I went FFL transfers are $25.00. That seems reasonable, and they don't try to give you a guilt trip about purchasing the firearm elsewhere. They seem to have the attitude of, "a $25 sale is a $25 sale." As another reviewer's tip says, it can be hard to find, and are located near the 275 bridge, behind an auto repair store. I have never noticed it before reading the other persons tip, so I figured it bears repeating.

They have great clothing for outdoor activities, carrying the top brands like Barbour which is high quality and hard to find. The higher retail prices mentioned in other reviews has more to do with the higher quality of the brands carried, their prices are in line with other small retailers for the same brands. The brands they carry will last a long time, so one pays more upfront but does not need to replace the item again, saving money over time. Single purchase is also a very sustainable friendly way to shop. But onto a review of the store, it isn't a place where you'll find fancy displays or wasted floor space but it certainly a place where you can find what you're looking for when you need things fishing, shooting or other outdoor recreation. They have hand tied flies, other flies, some other fishing products and they can help with learning. They carry high quality foot ware, outerwear, clothing (men's and women's) plus nice accessories. The shop is located on the Main Street in Hyde Park Square and is a great place for guys to hang out while your SO shops all over the Square. We didn't need a lot of items on this last trip but we also found a nice dress shirt for him for some of our nicer meals out. We always take a look at the flicker shad lures to see if we need any for our walleye fishing in the spring. We also fish for crappie so we need hooks, bobbers, and jigs.
