I went into Dick's Sporting Goods hoping to buy a SUP I had found online at a lower price and wanted to see if they could price match it. Patrick, the manager, not only matched the price, but went out of his way to help me find the exact board I wanted in the color I was looking for. He was incredibly helpful, courteous, and genuinely went above and beyond to make sure I left with exactly what I wanted. Patrick wasn't the only one, either. Several employees helped me while I was there, and every single person was kind, knowledgeable, and willing to help. I was actually surprised to see that this location has some lower reviews because that has never been my experience. Every time I've shopped here, I've received great service. I'm not sure how old some of those reviews are, but my experience was excellent. I found exactly what I was looking for, got the price I was hoping for, and was treated with genuine care throughout the entire process. Huge thank you to Patrick and the rest of the team. ***Placed Online Order for Pickup*** Since I've been living in California, I had no clue of the Stanley craze that's been happening for years...including how people flesh their tumblers out with accessories. California seems to be more of a Yeti state and I didn't once see accessorized tumblers there. Anyway, I'm catching up. I decided to go retro 80s with mine since I'm an 80s baby and I purchased a 40 oz Stanley Hyper Geo Tumbler to get the vibe going...setting my online purchase pickup for this location. It was ready within a matter of minutes. YESSSSS! But when I got to the location, I couldn't tell what was the front of the store, the side of the store, the back of the store. One side even had black plastic tarp of some sort covering all of the window s from floor to ceiling on the inside, confusing me as if it were a closed location under renovation. Once I called, I was prompted to keep driving all the way around the building to the "Macy's side" of the store and voila...found it. Walked up to the cash register for help and he followed me over to pickup, checked my name and I was good to go. I stopped by Dick's Sporting Goods at The Domain in Austin to pick up a pair of tennis shoes and was surprised at how incredibly busy it was. They have a great selection, which I appreciated, but be prepared to spend some time--just finding someone to help, trying shoes on, and checking out took longer than expected. It definitely wasn't the easiest or fastest process, but I left with a pair I really like and, in the end, got the help I needed. We always go to Dick's hoping we will get better service in their shoe department but it's always chaos and all the employees seem to be hunting for shoes in the back only to find they are often misplaced. We've gone there several times and unfortunately it must be during their busiest times because trying to find someone to consistently help with trying on shoes has been a challenge. If you find someone to help you, they disappear and you are left waiting forever to a) either see if they found your shoe or b) have them come back to check if the shoe worked. This past weekend there was one employee who was consistently helpful once we connected with him (i.e., he didn't disappear into the ether) and his name was Patrick I think. We came here today to get a golf travel bag and the young man Braden that helped us out was nice & very helpful. He helped us confirm the golf carrying bag we got was in fact a full hardcover case & not just a hardcover top by not only scanning the barcode, but in opening up the box and unwrapping it then taking it out of the package as well. Then when we were checking out, our cashier Alicia, was also very friendly to interact with. The store was also two stories tall, so they had a good variety of goods to pick & choose from. I called to ask them to send me the pants and they Said they wouldn't do anything until their bank refunds the money I already paid. So they had my money but wouldn't reorder until all my money is returned then they'll allow me to reorder and pay again but it might take up to 10 days to return my so far, unused money. I called then today only to find out my order wouldn't be ready for two months.. Please see the pictures below. This cost me a week of time and couldn't be more disappointed by the lack of follow up over the course of 4 business days. I ended up paying over 2x the price for different shoes on a better website, while Dicks takes another 5 days to process my refund. I will have my shoes before Dicks processes my refund. Dick's last resort... oops! No that is a different place.... We had bought some wrong items when we bought some stuff for baseball and we were just getting around to returning them. About 2 months later. As it turned out we had an exchange at a different Dicks and whatever they did there they made the receipt look like all items had been returned! The manager came up and sorted through it all and helped us out... I mean the return was for like 12$... but it took s but if work to get it to happen. They really handled the transaction well!! Was in store for almost 40 minutes looking at $1200 treadmill and could not find a single employee. As I was walking out I did notice a couple of guys in other corner of store just gabbing away and there was one gal at front register. Pft... There has been many times over the years where I can't find what I'm looking for nearby but get to Dick's and find what I'm looking for. We are here regularly and are always greeted upon entrance. People often stop to say hi and ask if they can help. Since learning they changed their gun policy and what they sell, I've made it a point to help support this business more than I already do. Today I visited Dick's at the Domain. I decided to try on a lot of clothes. Since I couldn't find the fitting room, I decided to ask an employee. The only employee I saw was a cashier. It was slow so I had problems getting the employee's attention because he was busy looking at his phone. I spoke up louder and he pointed where the fitting rooms are. At the first fitting room, I rang the buzzer a few times and waited. We'll no one came. Then I went to the other fitting room. Rang the buzzer a few times and waited. Help - Is it abuse? What should I do to prevent it? I would not like to see this happening to any other children. In the morning of June 19, I took my son(9yr) and my daughter(13yr) to the store getting a bicycle for my son. We were so excited, and he was going to upgrade the kiddy bike to a big kid bike with brakes on handles. Since I did my research, I asked the Sales, Mike, to try the 20"Wheel bike for my son. Mike had my son on the seat and holding the front wheel with his two legs. He asked my son to step down on the bar. Their faces were around 10" apart. He said to my son "THIS IS TOO BIG FOR YOU!" With all the respect, I asked "Can we have him try it here, I think that it could be the right size. Or can he grow into it?" Mike, again, ignored me and said to my son directly, looking down to my son's face, "OH NO, THIS IS TOO BIG FOR YOU, YOU MAY DIE, OR YOU WILL GET HURT!" I thought he must be joking for a second, although he was very serious. Instantly, my son got off the bike and said to me nervously "I don't need it, it's too big. I don't want a bigger bike anymore, I will get hurt!" I tried to be as calm as possible so that I don't scare my son anymore. I asked Mike "what would you recommend?" He pointed to the kiddy bike in the boxes to us. Right away, I said "Thank you for your help, we are done today." However, I realized that I had to speak up. I said "Sir, I respect what you do, however, you could never ever tell a child -You may die and get hurt!" There was another employee on the side the entire time. Then Mike, seemed to be offended deeply, raised his voice to me saying "My wife and I had two kids and they are all grown up, etc.... " He would not stop talking, and nothing was relevant at that point. Both of my kids were upset with me. My son was really shaken at that point. I said to Mike while walking away " That is ok, Mike, that is ok...trying to stop him from talking behind me louder and louder." By then, my kids thought that Mike was the expert, and my son could die if he used the bigger bike. Until we passed by the bike buying guide in the store. He run over to measure himself, than my kids were convinced, the 20"wheel that my son tried, was even almost too small for him (he is 9 yr). Now, my son refuses to buy another bike that fits his size, although he is too big for his old kiddy bike. I understand that everyone makes mistakes. I didn't blame the business at all at the beginning. However, I demand any business to stop any employees that may potentially discourage or mentally abuse kids. As a mother, I couldn't stand that people like Mike could scare away another child from learning new activities. We all know how hard it is already to encourage our kids to learn something new like biking. I expect all businesses try their best to resolve issues like this. I am a business owner myself. However, we contacted the store, corporate office for answers. NO ONE FROM DICK'S SPORTING GOODS HAS RESPONDED! They simply recorded my experience and said they would get back to me. I'm going to Boston next month, and while my wardrobe is fabulous, versatile, and chock full of designer labels, it is seriously lacking in the cold weather department. In a state where a few flakes of snow cause major collisions, and everyone goes apeshit when it hits 50 degrees, you can guess why. I needed 180s, the ubiquitous but sleek ear warmers that everyone wears in Boston. I wish I could own some Burberry ones but I can't pull off looking like Charlotte from Sex and the City (sadly =/). When I went to the website, Dick's Sporting Goods popped up as a "Place to Buy" and I wanted to check out the new one near the Domain anyway. Sports stores are inherently intimidating to me, since I usually spend more time picking out designer gym bags and accessories than actually going to the gym. These stores don't motivate me to get more active; they judgmentally remind me of how slovenly I am and therefore how far from looking like the eight foot poster of some athletic hottie I am. But I had a plan--get the 180s and get out as fast as I could. I knew before walking in the place is huge, complete with the atrium and dual escalator set up. An anachronistically geeky guy greeted me at the door, so I asked him about the 180s. He said they'd be with the skiing gear, up the escalator and to the left. Fine. On the way to the ski section, I found a North Face beanie that I liked. But no 180s. I did a quick scan of the ski products with no luck. An employee who didn't look a day over 17 but talking with such great authority on some walkie-talkie emerged from the back. She didn't pay much attention to me, but finally hung up and asked what I needed. She said the 180s were "over there behind the water bottles" and pointed in a general direction. Before I could get some clarification, she was off on the walkie talkie. Still lost, I asked a young guy employee what she was talking about. He repeated that nonspecific "over there" crap again, but this time I demanded he walk me to them. When he finally found them himself, they were all the 180s with headphones--not what I wanted. He had disappeared himself before I could ask if there were any others, since it was on a small, detached display. I asked another passing employee and asked if there were others. He didn't know, but said someone "over there" would know. He disappeared. Somehow I wandered into the hunting section--a part of the store any well-dressed, liberal urbanite finds, at the very least, extremely uncomfortable. I went to the girl behind the counter who was the nearest employee to ask. She said I could try "over there", and pointed to the golf section. I'm seriously about to lose it. Finally, I say "f**k it and head down to the registers to buy my beanie. I try one last time, and a cute guy employee said he would search "The Lodge", whatever the hell that is, to find more 180s. There was one register open and a long line, so I had time. He came back empty handed, but he was the only one who volunteered not only to walk with me to the section, but also to go physically look himself. The store itself is fine--it's clean, it's well stocked, it's got everything you could want for sports. Except, of course, for 180s. But their customer service blows. No one seemed to care to solve the problem quickly, and seemed content to have me wander around aimlessly. When the answer to my question is essentially "The product you want is somewhere between these four walls", you feel unappreciated. By the way, I ended up finding the 180s at Academy.
